Weird Camera Glitch After EMUI 10 - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi all! My camera app has been disastrous after EMUI 10. After opening the app camera resets itself every few seconds and it is not the focus. Camera visual just comes and goes as you can see in the video below. I have tried other camera apps and they work fine so I don't think it is hardware related. I don't want to make a factory reset just for this issue. Any idea is appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried to wipe Camera's data? That should reset the camera to default.

Yes, this was before rooting the device. I rooted it because I hoped to clear the problem. Now I`m with MIUI-NB (last version) and there isn`t a pop up message - just nothing happens....black screen and two buttons....
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. I'm experiencing almost the same thing, except I get a camera fail message every time I open the camera. I've posted in other forums here and haven't gotten any help.
Guys I am here to help you lol I had this problem and the answer is clear data and cache for the camera in roottoolbox . And if that didn't work(like me) them your camera is malfunctioned and you need to send it in to Samsung toq get it fixed. I think they are out of vibrant though

I havent tried clearing data or cache. But i installed a replacement camera, and it worked for a day.. then I got the camera fail message. I even flashed back to stock and still no luck.
Same problem. Only fix is banging the camera side on a hard edge a couple times. It removes the camera failed for a bit. Although it can't be good for the phone. Im guessing its a bad connection between the camera module and the computer.

Front Camera Force Close and Restart

Hi,
Has anybody faced this issue?
Whenever I open the camera app then switch to front camera, the camera app force close and the tablet restart. I guess the app got corrupted somehow and I'm not sure if this is related to the root.
At any event, I'd appreciate it if some can provide me with camera.apk. Maybe replacing mine would solve the issue.
Just tried, no issue here. Had an issue similar to this before root. Try browsing into the folder where pics are - i deleted some which did not look right and it refreshed the strip of photos in the camera app and force closes disappeared

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately this does not work!
If something is wrong with the gallery it would crash whenever I open the camera. but the problem only happens when switching to front cam.
My only hope is get the camera.apk and overwrite the one I have.

post location of the app where it is on the tablet and maybe people will post it for you. Have you tried clearing cash for the app too?
the camera.apk is under /system/app but after some trials I assumed that it's not the app. It's probably the driver or something the front camera is dependent on. I have tried turning on the front cam with Skype and other apps and again system crashed.
I guess I could either do factory restore or search/wait for firmware update.
Thanks anyway ps3taker

[Q] Droid DNA Camera Crashes

The camera app on my Droid DNA crashes whenever I open it or another application that uses the camera. I am currently running CyanogenMod (11-20140405-SNAPSHOT-M5-dlx), however it behaved the same way on the stock ROM (4.1.1 and 4.2.2). When this first happened, it would work for about a week, then not work for a week. But now it seems to permanently not be working. I am wondering whether this would be a hardware issue, or if there is something software related that needs fixed. I should also add that the front camera works just fine. I will attach system and kernel logs too. They are filtered to show anything with the word "cam" present. They are in the .docx format because they're color-coded, but plaint .txt files will be there also.

Can you give a specific set of steps that cause the problem?

I just open any application that uses the rear camera, it sits for about 5-10 seconds, and then that application crashes.
I had this when I flashed to the M5 snap from the M4 as well. Clearing the cache from the camera app fixed it for me.

I actually had already tried this, but figured I'd give it another shot. No such luck.

Hmm...Well, this is taking it a micro-step further, and you've probably already tried this: Along with cache, clear the data. Try force stopping the app first, clearing the cache, then the data, in that order. It shouldn't erase your pictures, but as a precaution I'd back them up first.
Maybe even reflashing the M5 snapshot after that, if that doesn't work, would be worth a shot.
Hearing that you've had problems with the camera on the stock rom though makes me feel uneasy lol...it could be faulty hardware at that point.

Still not working. I am almost convinced that it is hardware related, but before I buy a new sensor, I'll hold out for Android 4.4.3 (the next rumored release in a week or two) as this release will supposedly have many bug fixes. That's probably the last step before I call it a hardware issue.

Before calling it a hardware problem, I would try a clean flash of the latest CM nightly and if it still happens to post logs.

When you say clean flash do you mean not restoring any apps, etc?
If you have nothing but the ROM and gapps installed and it does this (the logs agree with you that not much happened for 6 seconds then the camera stopped) then it is possibly a hardware problem.

I've tried safe mode, and the problem still exists. To my understanding, this is the same as a clean install because only system and gapps are allowed to run.

Issues with the Camera

So I have had my phone for a week now and I tried using the video camera and noticed that when I tried to zoom in or out the camera force closes. All I have done to my phone is root it and change the dpi to 530. Has anyone else seen this?

I'm also rooted and have my DPI @ 530 so I don't think that's the issue. I saw this issue pop up for others on here as well can't find the thread to link you to right now though....
I think for them doing a factory reset fixed this problem and I want to say it has to do with some app or mod that's borking your camera. You don't run xposed????

I was having the same issues with the camera and I'm not rooted. I just did a factory reset which fixed the problem.
thanks for the replies, I'll try a factory reset. Does anyone know if I can reset while being rooted?

No Manual Focus On AOSP ROMS?

Is there a way to get the stock camera app to focus manually in Lineage OS? I recently flashed from the stock ROM, and when I open the camera app, it automatically focuses on the the center of the screen. If I try tapping anywhere else, nothing happens. I don't think it's a hardware issue, since it worked fine when I was on stock, and i can still zoom in and out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The is no manual focus mode in the generic AOSP camera app. Try installing the google camera apk
