Hi,
New user here, I have a my Z5 Compact as a spare phone and to run my UK sim while I'm living in NZ. So it's not my day to day phone.
I sometimes use it while away hiking/running long distances as a spare with it being more waterproof than my normal NZ phone.
So I don't have lots of apps installed, use it in a very simple way and want good battery life, reliability and minimum amount of bloat and bundled un-required apps etc.
The phone currently runs 6.0.1 build 23.5.A.1.291 and is not offering any OTA updates, it says it's up to date which is strange. Is this a carrier issue due to the fact I have a UK sim card in but currently connected via a NZ network?
I've seen reports of bad battery usage etc on the newer versions, with this in mind should I stick with 6.0.1 or seek to try and upgrade in some other way?
Thanks
I highly recommend staying with 6. Nougat is giving me pretty low battery life. The excessive cpu usage and sluggish ui problem can be resolved by disabling movie maker {that is how I am limping along on Nougat }

Hello guys.
I have a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite since November 2018 and so far I'm loving the phone but there is an issue that is really annoying me.
Frequently the phone seems to lost connection. For example: I'm using Facebook app then I start to watch a video. Suddenly the video stops buffering and my connection (WiFi or Mobile Data doesn't matter because it happens with both) is at max level. After some refreshes on the app or closing it and opening it again the connection starts working again. This issue does not only happen on Facebook app, it happens with everything that uses internet connection. I just used the Facebook example because it is easier to understand the problem.
I turned off the automatic synchronization but didn't resolve the problem. It is not a problem with the router because it happens everywhere!
Anyone has this issue and if so how it was fixed?
Best regards!
I have the same problem with wifi, I tried xiaomi eu,globe rom,havoc,aosip...and the problem remains.
I'll try to get back to oreo to see if it works

So you are saying that is a bug on Android Pie (9.0) ?
Is Xiaomi aware of this problem or there is a low probability that the bug will be fixed on a next update?
When I bought phone I did not have any problem with wifi how much I remember. He was on oreo
I'll test him a bit more to see

Guess the only options are flash and install a custom ROM (but warranty is voided) or wait for a fix (but I don't know if Xiaomi is aware of the issue)
It's the same on custom roms.I tried most of them
Maybe it's up to the phone

I have Mi 8 Lite for almost 10 days and wifi works without any single drop or problem, faster then my Lg g6 and Huawei P9, maybe Xiaomi using different wifi modules?

That I would like to know too.
With this module it seems to wifi work fine . https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-wifi-bonding-t3735919
I'm watching you tube for several hours without any interruption

What is that? Is some kind of a driver? If yes then I need root on my phone.
Magisk module and need root
I have dropping wifi but mobile data is solid. It has been an issue on all miui 8.1 and 9.0 roms plus on aosp 9.0 (have not used any 8.x aosp roms). Right now I am on newest 9.5.9 global and have not noticed it dropping. I only notice it on YouTube because of the reconnected popup. The drop only lasts a few seconds for me but is annoying.

Unless that module does more than channel bonding then it is useless on our device because both 2.4 and 5.0 are bonded already. Now on my redmi note 4x only 5.0 was bonded. I have attached ss showing the settings already in rom.
I just received this phone a few days ago from Banggood. I am also having some issues with wifi. It started already when I just turned on the phone (it had Android 8) and wanted to download updates (to Android 9) - it found the update, but it wasn't able to download it.. It just got stucked at 0%.
When I switched from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz, it worked fine and the phone updated successfully .
Since then, some apps occasionally lost connectivity when I was on 5 GHz wifi.
2.4 GHz works fine.
I was playing a bit with settings on my Netis router at 5 GHz, tried switching from 80 MHz band width to 40 MHz - didn't help. But what helped was disabling 802.11ac - when I set just 802.11 b/g/n, it works fine even at 5 GHz with 40 MHz width (bonding). It is slower (phone reports just 150 Mbps and laptop 300 Mbps), but I didn't notice any issues since then. So I guess that the phone is having problems just with 802.11ac or some of its features.
Or is anybody having issues also with 2.4 GHz wifi?
I have problems with wifi too. I have a router that runs at 2.4GHz and sometimes it disconnects. It is always solved by restarting the phone.
It happens in Miui and in custom roms too.
Any solution?
Good afternoon,
I'm new to this forum and I don't know if I'm posting in the appropriate section. Please, relocate my post if necessary.
I'm quite a newbie regarding phone hacks but I can make my way through the various general processes related to phone updates.
I recently updated my Galaxy A40 to Pie (A405FNXXU2ASJ1, Oct. 2019) [update: after checking on the official Samsung website, I updated the original April version of Pie with the August update and the battery issue started aftewards] and the battery started discharging way faster since then. I'm really not satisfied with this issue and I would like to do something to solve or improve battery life.
I tried Package Disable Pro and disabled a few apps and packages, although I don't really know which services to disable exactly. I also added most apps to the standby app list in the developer options, but it didn't improve the situation as much as I expected. I used to charge my phone every 24 hours or so with Wi-Fi on all the time, no Bluetooth or NFC.
Would anyone have an idea to get a similar battery life (charge once per 24 hours) or explain to me how to restore Oreo (downgrade or flash).
Thank you very much for your help
Weird. My Pixel XL is experiencing slightly better battery performance on Pie. I OTA updated from Oreo.

Well, as regards Galaxy A Series, numerous forums evoke a decrease in the battery performances probably due to some bugs in the update energy management pattern.
The problem is that I had to change the phone to night mode and also charge a black theme in order to slow down the battery leakage while in use.
I have noticed that the MIUI 12 version 12.0.1 would have a strangely fast battery drain overall on my mi note 10 lite which I recently purchased. An update for the MIUI 12.02 just rolled in today and has appeared to be a bit kinder on the battery life. Anyone else having battery related issues with MIUI 12 on their mi note 10 lite ? I am really thinking about flashing back to MIUI 11 once my bootloader can be unlocked tomorrow.

I debloated my phone yesterday from all the annoying services of Google as well as Xiaomi ones and particularly the Joyose which is the telemetry and ad service and my battery life has sky rocketed! I will upload screwnshots of the usage shortly.

Allow me also mention that I am on miui 12.0.3 and have also restricted the applications that tend to autostart for no reason. Chrome in particular I uninstalled since it seemed to autostart for no reason frequently.
Same issue on miui 12.0.2
Bought this phone some days ago & battery is not performing as well as it should be considering the phone holds a memoth battery.

Indeed it is pretty strange but in my case de bloating my phone and disabling quite a few Google services helped me. My only issue is that the Other apps power consumption just does not make sense for me being more than 10% which would be the case for my old redmi note 7. Anyways it might be due to dirty flashing although I have factory reset my phone through TWRP the last time I flashed MIUI 12 12.0.3 (xiaomi.eu that is). I don't really want to go back to miui 11.0.5 which seems to be the best miui version battery wise due to some miui 12 features that I like but if no fixes are presented to this on future miui 12 updates I might just have to refrain to flashing miui 11...
Picked up the K40 pro a few weeks ago and was wondering why I wasn't seeing any of the thermal issues people were having with SD888's. Ran antutu twice and got 150k and 300k respectively. Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas on how to fix it without root?

Based on the replies I got on reddit I've concluded Antutu is indeed bugged, hence the low results but also MIUI China 12.5.5 is throttling badly in games. I tried genshin with game turbo off and on and either way it stutters a lot, as compared to my mi11 which runs relatively smoothly
