Marshmallow 6.0.1 has rolled out for M4 Aqua and M4 Aqua Dual today.
Any body received the update yet? Give us feedback.
Sony Mobile has begun to roll the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware update for the Xperia M4 Aqua and M4 Aqua Dual. New build number 26.3.A.0.131 has currently been released across select regions for most of the Xperia M4 Aqua variants. We are hoping that Sony has included adoptable storage as part of the build, so once you have downloaded, please confirm either way in the comments below. We will include FTF firmware links below soon, in the meantime please also let us know your overall impressions.

I have a question. If I flash my Xperia M4 Aqua with a firmware that has different Region and different CDA, will it work?
Now I have Lollipop with CDA 1295-6080(Austria/T-Mobile AT) and I want to get Marshmallow and I thought about upgrading to Baltic Generic. Will my SIM card and LTE work with this firmware?
I'm new to flashing sony devices, so please, can someone take some time to help me?

I think we can enable the adoptable storage like this.
Anyone tried it?

☺☺☺☺
I am going to try it.
can someone please upload an ftf file for MM? please?
Not going to update until there's a root method. Hopefully someone comes up with one soon
Can anyone tell me MM released for all variants? My E2363 have not received the update yet. Can't try to connect through my PC till I get back home...

Sony never promised anything regarding adoptable storage that I do know. I think you'll find the person/people on Sonys social media accounts read scripted cards and probably googled the features of mm they certainly don't know what the software department are or aren't including or when updates are released till they get the email telling them.
i recevied update m4 aqua dual but some bugs are there sound is very low and heating issue
I haven't received it yet (Spain), and I think I will never have Marshmallow unless I flash the firmware from another country. This will be my last Sony phone for sure.
Me neither, still on Lollipop (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Now that we know that the Xperia Z2 isnt recieving Nougat, I wanted it to know everyones decision on whether to stay with their Z2 on marshmallow or to upgrade. Im personally thinking of upgrading to Z5P at some point as i cannot unlock my bootloader eventhough the sim has been unlocked.
So im wondering if everyone else was thinking of doing the same thing or just to stick with marshmallow. Is the Z2 still worth keeping or is it time for an upgrade?
Nougat Xperia List: http://www.xda-developers.com/android-nougat-coming-to-a-ton-of-sony-devices/
I'm seriously thinking about a Note 7. Damn phone has a range of very cool accessories. Sony is stuck.
The most likely reason the Z2 and Z3 series won't get an official update to 7.0 is that to receive a Google certification so OEMs can bundle Google apps with their updates, the phone needs to support Vulkan OR OpenGL 3.1.
Sitic on Reddit explains it well.
So we can build from AOSP, but Sony can't officially update the Z2 and Z3. That's why the Nexus 5 didn't get an official update from Google. That does mean we will likely never get a stable AOSP build with cameras and RIL working properly, like the case with 6.0 AOSP.
I will leave Android, and I will wait for iPhone 7
I love SONY and I dont see a point to move to another device, as there are plenty of custom roms for our device and xposed modules concerning Android N like N-ify is there to port Android N features to older devices. I think I wont move on to another Xperia device until my Z2 has hardware failure.
They should let us unlock our bootloaders now. I can't (****ty carrier locked phone) so I'm stuck with sony roms

Why dont you just flash the international version .ftf for Z2 so as to escape from your carrier barrier ?

Like I said i've already done that. I've no branding, flashed a stock french ftf a while back. But that's not my issue. My bootloader is still locked, the carrier it was sold on stop people from unlocking bootloaders, they set the flag" bootloader unlock allowed" as "no". So I can't flash roms.

I'm in the same boat, my z2 has the bootloader permanently locked by my operator. No more updates from sony and no custom rom support so i'll probably change to another device before the end of the year.
Unfortunately i don't like any of the latest sony devices so i'll probably get the next nexus or a zte axon 7.
I've learned my lesson, i'll never buy a device from a carrier or with an unlockable bootloader again.

I know how it feels it was the same for my Xperia play which had that damn bootloader unlock no its stupid in my opinion it shouldnt exist its rather damn anoying leaving me to upgrade to Xperia z as my play wasnt recieving ics at the time. I think ill keep my z2 and wait till theres a new Xperia. My z also had the same issue but when I "accidentally" got it damaged by water it was replace as Sony made it worse when running water tests on it as i presume further and luckily allowing me to unlock the bootloader. Im also wondering if Sony can do some magic with the bootload unlock no. I read that they can but its an unauthorised unlock so they wont do it.

Although Z2 has been going through lots of major updates, but it is still not the King of Updates from Sony.
The King is the original Z series, which is from init. Android 4.1 to 4.2, 4.3, 4.4.2, 4.4.4, 5.0 and final 5.1.1. I have always been proud of having one of the original Z series device in my life:victory:
Well its true, Z2 went through a lot of software updates and its has exceeded the usual 2 year update period.
In my opinion this device was legendary when it came out, the feature set and specs are still top notch.
Ive been using it for almost 2 years and i think im going to switch to a LG G5 by the end of september,
because it offers a lot of upgrades over this phone and has the most reasonable price tag between the flagships.

Well speaking of officialness, we can still build AOSP-based rom or porting the later devices' Sony official ROM to our device.

You need a custom kernel with recovery ( in .img ), and the AOSP rom ( in .zip or .img ).
If rom is in .zip format…
1. Load the zip onto your phone storage ( internal or external ).
2. Flash the custom kernel ( aka. boot image )( usually achieved by extracting from rom.zip ) in flashtool via fastboot mode.
3. Boot into recovery and flah zip.
4. Done.
If rom is in .img fornat…
1. Flash boot.img and system.img ACCORDINGLY in fastboot mode.
2. Done.

Compared with Samsungs support and update strategy Sony is the worlds no.1, i own a XPlay ( active ), Arc S, Z ( active ), Z1, Z2 ( active ), Z3, and my next phone will be the X. For daily use the Z ( C6603 ) has more than enough power, after 4 years. All my Sonys running Lollipop ( Stock/CM ), and i suggest to stay with your Z2 with a modified/cleaned stock Lollipop fw.
Offtopic: Samsungs S3 came together with the Z, Samsung stopped support with JB 4.3, terrible.

update your firmware for the latest version, download Recovery twrp (do not install version 3.1.1 or you cant use your touchscreen again) and try the luck has a kernel developer on the custom rom of the android Oreo and Pie and he may be able to help in the progress since the developer of these roms is no longer among us, Togari (xperia z ultra) has the same SOC of Honami (Xperia Z1)
As per Sony support articles, the Sony Xperia Z2 natively supports VoLTE. However, the carrier must have VoLTE support in order for the option to be visible from settings. If it's not visible, I should contact my carrier for additional support. I contacted my carrier yesterday and told me that they support VoLTE right from the very beginning (of their launch). They asked what chipset the phone has (which is a Snapdragon 801). They then asked me to enter the "4636" code on the dialer to check if VoLTE provisioned flag is enabled - and it is by default. Since it's on and the option is still not available, they asked me to contact the phone's manufacturer for a software update to fix it. I tried reaching support through phone and online chat. Phone - no one's answering. Live chat - "Offline/Busy" all day.

VoLTE for Xperia Z & Xperia X series.
Hi Guys, After many days of search and trials I have managed to enable VoLTE in Xperia Z2 & Z3 in Android 6.0.1. But this Method should work on Newer Z & X series models(till 2018). Only For Xperia Z & X series Your carrier must support VoLTE...

The option can be forced to be visible by modifying build.prop and config.prop found in /system folder. The thing is, it requires root, and rooting requires an unlocked bootloader. Unlocking BL will remove my DRM keys. To backup DRM keys, your phone still has to be rooted.
I saw that my phone's firmware is a "GLOBAL-LTE_23.5.A.1.291" and at the same time, it is identified as "1281-1985_R3D" which is a Customized Russian firmware. Service Menu reveals that it is currently using "amss_fsg_sirius_tar.mbn" which I believe doesn't have VoLTE support because when you navigate through the system folder, you will see 2 MBN files: "amss_fsg_sirius_vf_germany_volte_trials_tar.mbn" and "amss_fsg_sirius_volte_base_operator_trials_tar.mbn" - both of which has VoLTE on their labels.
My question now is: If I want to have VoLTE option on this phone (without rooting), what firmware should I use? Should I use (Germany) Vodafone's firmware (or will that make my phone SIM-locked)? I'm not sure what kind of firmware that uses amss_fsg_sirius_volte_base_operator_trials_tar.mbn.
By the way, I'm using IgorEisberg's Software, XperiFirm
