How To Guide [Android 12] fingerprint hardware stops working sometimes - Sony Xperia 1 III

This tip works on my XQ-BC72. The fingerprint hardware would stop working but it would work again for a little while after a reboot.
I noticed that sometimes this happened when i tried to unlock the phone and it would freeze for a few seconds.
I solved this by disabling "Prevent accidental operations with screen off" under Settings, Display. This is enabled to help prevent accidental operations when it's in your pocket but with the phone locked it's ok anyway.
(If you still have problems after doing this then there are some services that might include dependencies (eg side sense, wireless charging) that shouldn't have restricted battery even if you don't use them.)

[Q] disable screen auto wake in android

I have a specific problem that has persisted through multiple android devices, through all ROMs and builds.
Currently I am on a Verizon galaxy nexus with cyanogen 10.1 (background in case it's more relevant than I believe).
When a timer or alarm goes off on my device, or when I receive a call or text, my screen wakes automatically. I think this may be considered a "feature" in android. However, since my phone is nearly always in my pocket, it means that the screen turns on and often receives enough of a false signal in my pocket to disable an alarm or decline/accept a call. It is very inconvenient and would be alleviated if I could specify that I want my device to turn on the screen ONLY when I press the power button.
I know that others have the same problem from searches on xda and elsewhere, but I don't see solutions (except what looks like a registry hack on some specific devices)
Note: I am not looking for a suggestion to get a cover to stop screen interactions while in my pocket, nor do I want to hear about a more elaborate lock screen to keep said interactions from interfering with alarms/calls. The problem is simply that the screen comes on at all with seemingly no way to change the behavior.
Thanks for reading and (hopefully) for helping with this problem.
I'm not sure it does what you need but you might try IntelliCover: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dragonnis.intellicover2
I can't find on its description that function but I read someone solved with that.
good luck
no dice
I installed the recommended app (a neat app, by the way), but it doesn't fix the problem in question. Alarms and communications still wake the screen.
Thanks anyway.
Hi,
Did you manage to disable screen wakeup ?
Thanks
Has anyone figured out a solution to this? I'd really wish the screen would only turn on with the power button... Even when phone calls come in, I always have to CAREFULLY drag it out of my pocket so I don't accidentally hang up or answer.... This and a thousand other scenarios

Random Ads & Strange Behavior

Hey Guys -
I recently upgraded to a Galaxy S9+ and overall love it despite not being able to root. For the past couple of weeks, I've had a three very annoying issues though. I've tried many things to resolve, but so far can't figure out solutions. Below are thr issues and what I've tried to fix each. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
1. Random ads open in default browser (Firefox) no matter what I'm doing / what app I'm in
It doesn't matter what app I'm in, every 5 min or so Firefox opens on top of whatever I'm currently using without warning and displays an ad in a webpage. I use the Ublock tool in Firefox so sometimes it opens to a blocked webpage
What I've tried to fix:
- Closed all tabs, cleared history / personal data, then force quit Firefox
- Restarted phone
- Tried many malware apps like Malwarebytes but scans come in clean
- Uninstalled apps not installed from Google Play (only a couple)
- Put all apps not needed to run in background asleep
- Disabled notifications for apps I don't need
2. Display configs randomly apply
I have my screen set to turn off after 2 minutes and also have "always on display" enabled during the daytime which is different than simply leaving display on. Currently, though; after 2 min the screen just dims - that's it. If I hit a button to turn screen off it works, but if I place it on charger after doing this, the lock screen appears and it just Dom's after 2 minutes too. Basically, always on display only works after I press a button to power display off
What I've tried to fix:
- Verifying settings we're correct
- Setting configs differently then reverting them
- Disabled all MacroDroid / AutoMagic scripts
- Installed Greenify to put apps to sleep thinking one may be keeping device awake
3. Secure Startup Reverts
My work uses InTune and requires strict policies and settings in order for sync to work - one of these is Secure Startup where you must enter your passcode after reboot. Every couple of days or after a reboot, this setting Reverts from being enabled to disabled this making my phone daily compliance and stopping sync of work stuff. I must manually reenable it, then jump through hoops to get it compliant again. This has been an issue since I got the phone.
Any suggestions for any of the above?
Thanks!!
You could have a malware in your phone. When I had my note 8 I experienced something similar with the ads, it was very annoying. Long story short... I had to do a factory reset
I agree with TonyGzl92. It is probably Malware.
If the problem persist and you have deleted all installed apps and still get the problem you will ned to perform a factory reset and watch the phone after every app you install.
I had the issue with the screen just dimming instead of going completely off, and it was a conflict with an app I had installed. Pretty sure it was a Play Store app, but it's been long enough I no longer remember what app it was.

Disable Doze function entirely

I have tried now on two newer Android phones (Huawei Mate 20 with Android 10, Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 with Android 9) what happens if I track my position with GPS and then stop for 30+ minutes.
The result is every time, on both devices, that the GPS signal is lost after stopping for 10-30 minutes, and it is not regained without manually waking up the phone (wakeup Apps don't work, moving again doesn't work).
This happens with all tracking apps I've tried (about 10); I tried the different location modes; I have turned off ALL options which are for power saving, for all apps; I even deinstalled PowerGenie and the SystemManager on the Huawei device via ADB. Therefore, this is definitely NOT a problem of settings, nor of a specific firmware.
I now suspect that the aggressive "Doze" feature that was introduced in Android 6 is responsible for this. So is there any way to completely disable it?
I want that GPS tracking will continue regardless of whether I move or not, will always try to reconnect when signal is lost, until the battery is at 5% or less - without me touching the phone even once after starting the tracking app.

Pixel Experience Issues [android 10]

I have installed pixel experience ROM on my redmi note 5 a few days ago
Now, I am facing some issues like, sometimes phone goes in some kind of deep sleep and fingerprint sensor doesn't wakes up the phone, I have to press unlock button then fingerprint works fine. This happens when phone is put on sleep for about over an hour and wasn't touched meanwhile.
Also sometimes browser don't work, bower doesn't load webpages gives network issue error, when connected to cellular network or wifi, I have to reboot smartphone to make it work (same issue in every browser)
What can be the problems?? I am too irritated with that deep sleep kind of thing where phone doesn't wake up when I scan my finger and the surfing issue is also big problem for me!

Super slow apps opening for fingerprint scan

On my unrooted exynos S9+ all the apps that make use of the fingerprint sensor take a looong while to start. Once launched, the fingerprint scan appears after more or less 12 seconds. If I turn off the fingerprint recognition, these apps open instantly.
I've never had any issue like this on my old S8 where the same apps take no time to start using the fingerprint. Any idea what could cause this delay?
