Hi All.
This question may seem trivial, and I've searched high and low for an answer but couldn't find one.
I have an Oppo R7g. This is running ColorOS version 2.1.0i and on android version 5.1.1.
In short I would like to install the Marshmallow release of android onto the phone, in effect replacing ColorOS. I have managed to Root my phone using the Oppotools and now I am looking around for the ROM. But I can't seem to find one.
I was surprised that there wasn't a release from Google that I could use. When googling for this I found the below link that links to factory images for nexus devices. It seemed like there was a different image per version for each device. This isn't what I expected. When I want to install windows or Ubuntu on my laptop I dont need to seek a particular version for my specific build of laptop. Is this different for phones?
What would happen if I took the latest Nexus 5X image and put it on my phone Oppo R7?
Thanks
Will

I was recently gifted a lovely Lenovo Tab M8 FHD tabled, and while the hardware and overall design is very spiffy, Android 10 is absolutely horrible on it. Android 10 is using up massive amount of resources, has some real bad optimization issues and it's just bad in general. I checked the official Lenovo forums and there are tons of threads about how the Android 10 OTA update that was not announced or anything has caused issues with their devices. I read both on there multiple times, and in a thread on here that it's possible to use the Lenovo rescue and recovery tool to install Android 9 through putting the old rom in a folder that has the name of the most up to date rom. I found two separate roms with the same name, if slightly different file sizes while I was combing through the internet, and while I tried to use both to get Android 9 on my device, neither worked. So, I am hoping and praying that someone on xda can give me some badly needed help with a link or even vague directions toward where I can get the firmware I so seek. I am rambling on a bit and I do apologize for that, but I can sincerely say that it would be a big weight off my metaphorical chest if I could get some help with this. Thanks for reading my post. Also, I apologize if I mixed up rom and firmware at times.
Just got Tab M8 FHD and decided to give Android 9 a try since tablet is more laggy than I though.
I got rom from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_M8_FHD/TB-8705F/
Flashed it with SP_Flash_Tool, using the Download agent MTK_AllInOne_DA_6765.bin (found in the archive with the ROM) (I disabled "Check LIB DA match" in Flash tool options).
Rom TB-8705F_S100099_200706_BMP.zip is Android 9. Got Magisk and EdXposed running.
Maybe it's just in my mind but it does seem faster than Android 10 - well at least when scrolling through menus or browsing Play Store. Overall performance is probably the same so downgrading won't make games / apps run smoother.

After you installed Android 9, did you have to use the disbale vbmeta method like they did in Android 10 to get root or did you have to use another method?
Ok so,i have my Realme 7 for quite long already,at some point on January or February,i want to taste some UI 2.0 so i manually installed a version but later on i realized its testing version.More or less,i downgraded,i had my phone on a bootloop without the possibility to go to boot screen,i had to learn in 1 night i had to learn Python and coding so i kinda saved the phone. Now im facing few problems:
From theri official site that i got the UI 1.0 Rom
Software Update - realme Support | realme India
Update the latest software version on your realme phone.
www.realme.com
it did only 1 update from A.88 to A.91
Now,im with RRMX2155_11_A.91
-Its not howing me since any updates, even security ones
-When i press on top right the cog the experiment/tesing option is not there at all
-How do i get to UI 2.0 or in general speaking to Android 11 for my version(RMX2155)
-Is there a site/link for manual update?
Also when i asked on Discord community someone gave me a very short answer to find ozip. That's all
I'm not so experienced,i like to learn so,any answers please try to explain simplified, thanks in advance

And if it does not work, is it useful to install Android 12 raw to this phone or custom ROM
Please reply it is very important

I am not new, but I am asking what is the reason why the phone will not be updated because I heard a lot of news, the Android 11 system was heavy on the devices, but Android 12 is lighter and more supportive for many phones I know that the Android 12 system is still in its infancy and has not spread in its entirety, but I ask whether the specifications of this phone can run Android 12 raw or not. Thanks for your reply
