HTC Europe - WWE WM5 upgrade?

I wonder if this company exists in a real world, or if they think their customers are all fools.
Leaf Wireless has released the latest AKU 3.3.1 version here in South Africa on Monday.
Dopod(HTC) had already released this ROM earlier but obviously the Chinese version.
This is the reply I received from HTC Europe on 21 March 2007 to a query.
"Thank you for contacting HTC Europe.
The official HTC TyTN ROM update has not been released yet, so I am unsure as to the exact legitimacy of the current one you are using."
I am using the official one released by Leaf last Monday. They received this update from HTC Taiwan.
With this kind of treatment of their customers they can only hold themselves responsible for the growth of XDA-Developers.
Long live XDA
HTC should re-evaluate its customer support as well as its employees in Europe when you buy a high end device like this you expect support during the lifecycle of the product not lack of it even after the releases of many other products.
(back in september) When i rang HTC (UK) to enquire about the screen alignment problem being fixed under warranty I spoke in depth with the guy about the ROM i had on it (which was an early iMate ROM. He basically said that EVERYBODY he knows (in and out of his employment) messes about with the ROMs on thier devices. He said it wasnt very clear about whne a rom upgrade was going to be released but it was the decision of the guys over in HK not them. I loaded an early HTC rom back on and sent it back. It came back within 5 working days and was fixed un der warranty.
Numerous emails since (not from the same guy) have basically fobbod me off saying a rom release Q1 this year, the end of which is closing in fast :s
As you can tell it took me little under a month to start changing ROMs and i havent looked back since! dont hold your breath expecting an official HTC release for europe. Just read all the info etc...(wiki) and use a different rom, such as the newly released AKU3.3 south africa rom??

[Q] confused about branding

I'm a bit confused about HTC's new Windows Mobile 7 phones.
I life in Germany an HTC released three new mobile phones running Windows Mobile 7; the HTC Mozart, HTC Trophy and the HTC HD 7.
Now comes the confusing part. It seems to me that Mozart ist only available with a t-mobile branding, the HD 7 with an O2 and the trophy with a vodafone. On getgoods.de they offer all of them. And they say the devices got a branding but no SIMlock. From another source I heard that the branding is software only.
I want to buy either the Mozart or Trophy, but my carrier is O2. Would there be any problem? What will I have to do?
The branding comes from the fact that they are the only ones allowed to sell it on contract, they will come simlocked (but Mozart isn't impossible to unlock) and will have specific software to the carrier, you can also purchase non-branded phones from the likes of amazon or microsoft, which will come unlocked and wont have any of the programs for o2 or t-mobile etc

Nokia confirms Lumia 710, 800 to be knighted with mobile hotspot 'soon'!!

Found this on engadget! YAY!
"If you've poured over the specs of Nokia's Lumia 710 and 800 handsets during the last few months, you've likely noticed the duo's lack of mobile hotspot functionally. Of course, the Finnish phone maker didn't completely abandoned the feature in Windows Phone, as the ability to turn your device into a portable access point will ship with its flagship Lumia 900 and the recently announced 610 at launch. Nokia admitted that the feature would be coming to the 800 months ago, and now Elop & Company have announced that the 710 is also on the shortlist. A recent Q&A post on its Connects blog explained that software updates will be "coming soon" -- by way of Zune update -- to remedy the discrepancy between the old and new. No word on what Nokia's definition of "soon" is, but you can find all the available details at the source link below."
yea its been sometime since this was announced, plus panorama, camera effects and later on pureview technology.
Well, "soon" was supposed to happen in January. They are 2 months late already.
Better late than never and i think it will be available when newest update hits EU
The hotspot and the new camera feature probably arrive in April with "Tango" update.
I received an update notice today ! When I got home plugged into latptop, fired up Zune. The update took about 10 minutes, but I don't know what the update is? There is no tethering ? I went through all settings and just don't know what this update was.
Edit: the update was this - 7.10.8107.79
only fixes some minor issues, no tethering
Is nokia 710 hotspot, tethering or internet sharing available yet? Today is April 21, 2012....still waiting...

My guess is that it will come with the 12120 firmware. For the 710 there ar already roms available at navifirm. The 800C (chinese version) also has 12120 fw in the repository as of now.

News: Sony’s Xperia Phones Outselling BlackBerry and Nokia in Europe

Sony’s Xperia Phones Outselling BlackBerry and Nokia in Europe
Sony Mobile appears to be finally returning to the battle for supremacy on the smartphone market, at least this is what a recent report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows.
Apparently, the company’s Xperia devices are selling better than RIM’s BlackBerry devices and Nokia’s phones on the old continent.
“After joining the European smartphone market late Sony is making up for lost time with its Xperia series, outselling both BlackBerry and Nokia as a result of strong performances in Spain, Germany and France,” a report from the company reads.
Of course, Samsung remains the top OEM in this market, the same as it is in the United States, yet things appear to be turning to better for Sony, which has lost a significant amount of ground in front of competition in the past several years.
