XDAIIs replacement battery now 1000 rather than 1450 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Accessories

Picked up a £39 replacement battery today from O2 Store (they are just getting accessories in now...) and surprised to see tacky little sticker - on battery itself - with revised capacity of '1000' rather than the expected '1450'.
Is this a bit of a con, or am I jumping to conclusions??

Do NOT trust the following eBay sellers!!

Please put this in the correct place if I am posting in the wrong are etc as I am in a hurry and simply want others to be aware.
Its about time we had a list via thread of dodgy sellers on eBay. So to start off....
NAME / COMPANY: M99 aka M99-Shop
PRODUCT BOUGHT: 2800Ahm Battery for Hermes
PROBLEM: Received completely the wrong battery. Item I recieved was an 1500Ahm and was /is in a dangerous condition. The white plastic sticker type back cover is half gone and the battery insides are bulging outward! The item I got is also completely DEAD and nonchargeable
: Two emails sent to seller. No response. Have notified eBay.
[Have also received numerous emails from other buyers who have had the same or similar problems. So all are now taking action to get this account closed]
DETAILS
======
I have received numerous emails from others like myself who have been ripped off by an eBay company / eBayer called "M99" or M99-Shop.
Several of us are in the process of awaiting replies from eBay as to what they are going to do about this seller as we want their account closed down. So far from what we have worked out there have been near on 1000 bad results in the last 30 or so days. The seller does not reply to messages and does not do anything when there is a problem.
The Hermes battery I bought had half the cover missing on the back which made it dangerous as there is exposed parts along with a bulging along part of one of the sides. I will en devour to upload some photos when time allows. The battery I received is dead and will also NOT charge at all. It is the same battery which I bought from another dodgy company called ipods99.com
I ordered the 2800 and received a 1500.
Anyway, I very much hope others see this and if it saves one person the hastles and problems I am now having to go through then brilliant.
Lesson today is:: NO MORE BATTERY BUYING FROM EBAY!!
I bought what was thought to be a 2800 mah battery on ebay. The battery looks good and is has a pretty stout runtime but its actually two 1100mah packs wired in parallel when i disassembled it. equaling 2200mah labeled wrong to 2800. I spent 15 bucks i got what i paid for but im satisfied

Avoid ebay shop: M99 - M99 sales
Avoid buying from an e-bay shop M99 sales. I bought a charger for an MP3 player, which was not compatible. I e-mailed twice and this guy just ignores any communications.
Most of the negative is for sending the wrong or faulty goods and not providing refunds. This guy is cheap, but there is a good chance you will get the wrong stuff or even something which is unsafe - please AVOID.
If you look at his feedback, he has a 96% positive, but this hides the fact he has over 1000 pieces of negative in the last 12 months. Yes, over 1000 people have complained and E-bay still let him trade - can that be right (well it appears so, provided you keep above the level of 95% positive, which is the magic % set by e-bay). Could you imagine a shop on the high street continuing business if it provided such poor customer service that one in 20 trades was dodgy!

Anyone use a high capacity battery?

I searched but did not find much current information-
Has anyone gone to an oversized high capacity replacement battery for their wizard? I see several on ebay from $17 to $30 delivered and doubling the battery capacity has to be a good thing.....right?

i was thinking about it as all wm devices suck on battery life... but i charge mine all day at work and on my nitestand, and it usually lasts about two days without charging anyways....
i figured my brick is already big enough i'd just buy a second battery and keep alternating the two (keep one in the car or something with a car charger)...
I did purchase a large / double capacity battery - and am very happy with the purchase. Yes, it makes the brick a bit larger, and does come with a battery door as the original will not fit.
I was having charging issues, believe my battery was at the end of its lifespan - was having to charge every night, and if battery got below 51%, my wizard would continually loop at windows mobile flash screen.
I've gone as long as four days without a charge with the new extended battery - that is running some of the XDA WM6 roms - using wifi, etc.
I find the phone easier to hold with the larger battery
Just my .02 cents
Have a good one
does the phone with the bigger battery still fit in the regular case?
Thanks
The phone still fits in my holder - that was a big plus for me.......
The holder I have is a brown leather one with the logo Reiko on it. Came with the phone when I bought it on ebay. It has elastics on the side, so not sure if it is a specific holder for the wizard only.
Can't really help much more than that
Have a good one
Thanks for the info, bill_in_mtl.
I have decided to buy one. Hopefully it'll fit in the case.
What's a good place to buy one?
I found someone on e-bay selling them for $12 shipped.
http://cgi.ebay.com/2400mAh-Ext-OEM...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
It says it's by Celxpert.
Is this battery to be trusted, or could this turn out to be a cheap, low quality product?
I purchased mine on ebay also - for just about the same price. Have had no issues whatsoever with the new battery.
One note is that you need to ensure you identify which model you have - the different Wizard models have different battery doors.
Cingular 8125 and TMobile MDA have different battery doors. I noticed that the ebay item you linked shows it is for the mda.
I ordered and received the correct item for the 8125.
Thanks again for the info.
I just ordered the one I linked to.
I do have a T-mobile MDA.
I'll report here how it works out.
After one day of using the high capacity battery I got from e-bay, I can say so far it's performing great. The phone is bulkier now, but it can still fit in the original case that T-Mobile sent with the phone, although barely.
I may start making a lot of voip calls over wi-fi, so can't do without a high capacity battery.

Replacement and high capacity batteries

I see that Mugen have updated their website to say that standard size and large capacity batteries will be available for the TC at the end of April
Reteb
Looking forward to the OEM sized high capacity battery.
Thanks for the heads up.

Nicely spotted Reteb. Thanks. I've been hoping for this for a while
I see the capacities are still TBD. Judging by the currently shipping TyTN II batteries it would be reasonable to expect at least the same, i.e. 1500mAh for the same-size replacement and 3000mAh for the over-sized replacement.
Does anyone have any experience with Mugen power batteries? I came here from the PalmOS world and my previous device was a Sony Clie TH-55. That had quite an active forum and one thing we discovered there was that there were a lot of third-party batteries out there for the TH-55 which, if you just looked at the manufacturer's claimed mAh ratings, should have delivered between 15% and 20% extra battery life per charge compared to the factory-fitted battery.
What we actually found by running standard battery discharge test programs on many devices was that in real life the replacement batteries at best only just matched, and in most cases failed to match, the performance of the factory-fitted battery. Whether this was because of dishonest labelling by the manufacturers or whether it was because they had sat on shelves in hot warehouses for too long was never determined.
I just hope that Mugen power label their batteries honestly and store them properly before shipment because even a 1500mAh battery should in theory be an 11% increase over the factory-fitted one and that would give me another 80 minutes of music playing time on my device so definitely worth having.

Here is one new extended capacity monster for the Touch Cruise.
http://www.boxwave.com/products/hig...ty-extended-battery-htc-touch-cruise_3046.htm
Have you seen this one?:
http://www.netimes.com/shop/replacement-battery-for-htc-touch-cruise-p3650-p-1028.html
Is not extended, but I think, the cheapest...and it works as the original one!!!
I bought two batteries and a lot of more things (cases, car support, protectors, cradle, stylus..), and I have to say its a very serious shop..
Wow, that's pretty cheap, I prefer to have one or two spare if I'm away for a while rather than having a huge bulge sticking out of the back. No catch? Will this also be the replacement battery for the Orbit 2?
Spare Battery - Cheap.
Found this on eBay, and checked just now (August 4, 2008) and they still have them. Ships from Asia, but arrived in under a week and is absolutely dirt cheap and perfect quality. The wall charger is the only convenient way to charge a spare battery, and the battery plus the charger together for $7 + 6.50 shipping is amazing.
And, of course, i do realize that i sound like the spokesperson for the seller - but it's really an amazing deal and i wanted to share witcha

Battery 1350 mAh vs 1500 mAh

I'm wondering does the 1350 mAh vs 1500 mAh makes a lot of difference? The price for 1500 mAh is about nearly 50% more expensive. I need some feedback.

For the prices I saw them for its worth it
My battery certainly lost alot of its operational lifespan since it wouldnt keep charge even for a single day?! I figured a 1500mAh is only a plus point!
Wow! I just bought a 3000 mah battery for $16.00. It should be arriving soon.
Not keen on the back of the Hermes extending out that far to accomodate the 3000 mah battery. It increases the width of the phone by almost half again....
Cheers...

Finally got it on Saturday. My old battery wouldn't last 24 hours. This one has lasted 24 hours. I put it in today for the first time and let it run out today and now I am fully charging it for the 1st time. I will keep you posted. Tomorrow will be the big test because it will have had a chace to fully charge.
Coool...let us know how it works out for U. I'm definately going to order it if U give the thumbs up!

Ok the verdict is in. I really like this battery. It does last longer than the standard one that came with the phone. The best thing is that it is the same size as the original battery. It has given me that little extra battery time that I need. I would guess another 10-15% of battery life. If you need a battery get this one. If you are fine with yours stick with what works....
ive gone with one of the 1650mAh ones buzzing round ebay.
its like...20% better than the original one i got with the phone, and like 50% better now that i have gone back to 0 cycles used.
the original battery that i had lasted 1.5 years.
enough was enough.
this one lasts a day and a half no probs.
once get a new battery, what should i do with it? should i drain all the battery power then charge it full up again? or should i just charge it up? but i do know that to keep the lifespan long, we should keep it charging whenever we can. i got it from one the threads somewhere...

Even though I just got my battery now I want the bigger battery like yours. I am never satisfied.
dogeatdog01,
Can you tell us which reseller on EBay you got your battery from? I want to get a 1650mah battery, but the only reseller I see that carries them for our phone is Total*Power*solution out of Hong Kong. I'm hesitant to order from them because I got burned by another HK reseller last year when I bought a USB flash drive and never received it.
I have seen warnings about memory, flash drives, and batteries specifically coming from HK. Apparently they have a tendency to overrate their products spec. I figure if you got yours and it seems to exhibit the increased performance you were seeking, that if I order from the same reseller (assuming a power seller here) I won't be disappointed.
Thanks
Bad battery?
I have both a 1350 mAh and a 1500 mAh battery, and don't notice a difference in longer battery life between the two. Maybe I've got a bad 1500mAh battery? It's a Seidio 1500mAh battery, the guys who sold my 8525 to me gave me that battery plus the stock battery. I do normal call usage plus I have direct push email, so more battery life would definitely be a plus for me.
3600 mah if you can spring for it
I got a 3600mAh from Mugen Power. They have their own website, also on eBay. The price was $70 or so, if I recall correctly, took about a week to the East Coast of USA. I'm able to run IE and bluetooth all day and it only drops it to 90% on my HTC TyTn

2800 mA extended battery pics

Hi,
On Monday I have received this 2800 ma extended battery ordered few days before:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/HTC-TOUCH-PRO-2-II-EXTENDED-2800mAh-BATTERY-COVER-NEW_W0QQitemZ160356657205QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioTVElectronics_PDAsAccessories_PDABatteries?hash=item2556006835&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Some pics of the thing plugged on my phone are attached.
So, ok I must admit, the phone looks is heavier but it doesn't feel really bulkier on hands.
The main drawback is that the stylus is harder to pull, you'll have to stop bitting your nails to get it
The finish it not that bad for the price you paid. it's the same glossy one as the original back cover.
Regarding the battery life, I got it on Monday evening, now it's Friday morning and I still get 10%!!! My use is above average with push on windows mail / gmail (since 2 days), internet, some calls/ sms, music through A2DP...
Whatever, I feel the battery life is at least 2 times the stock 1500ma battery.
I think it worth the try especially for the price!
By the way, I just saw a 3000ma battery on ebay this morning. The back cover looks better but the seller has "0" feedback.
Thibaud
Thanks. Can you show us a picture of the back, where the loudspeaker is please? and let us know how it goes in terms usage. -This could be great for short trips instead of bringing a charger.
2nd the picture on the back, and while your at it one of the bottom please. Nobody is making one for sprint yet (we have the 3.5mm jack), and I'm wondering if a little dremmel work on the new back cover would make it fit my phone.
Thanks!
I've had more then my fair share of experience buying non-oem batteries and it has never been pleasant. At most, I only get a few months out of them before they start draining really fast or fail to charge to 100%. For only 15 quid, I'm skeptical as ever.
Please report back your results in a month or so.
got that battery, awhile back, haven't reeally put it through the paces, cause I have a T-mobile branded phone, and at the time, I bought the battery(few months back) it never mentioned that it only fit unbranded
I posted a review on another site, so I will paste part of it here with some pics.
I bought one of these off eBay and it was advertised for the T-Mobile Touch Pro2. While the battery fit, the cover did not. (The T-Mobile Touch Pro2 has a really thin battery cover.)
I was wondering how that error was made.
Now on seeing this post and your pics, well... it's that the cover the seller sent to me was for the European Touch Pro2 model (and U. S. Sprint, AT&T and Verizon?)
My cover looks exactly like the one in the pictures, so I know that it is the same one .
I contacted the seller and he said to send him pics of the issue so he could inform the engineers. I humored him and sent the pics, never to hear from him again. He wanted me to pay for return shipping to get a refund. Since it was a $25 purchase I just said forget about it and left him negative feedback.
Now as to the item, the battery seems well made (I tested it while the phone was sitting on my desk. I just could not take it anywhere since I did not have a proper cover.)
But be warned, while the cover looks OK in the pics, it is cheap soft pliable plastic. To me it looks and feels like it will warp over time or parts of the plastic will suffer fatigue damage.
It attaches (near as I can tell) via small protrusions around the phone where it clips on. Since it's cheap plastic I can envision the clips breaking or warping. Leave it in the hot sun, on a car sear or dashboard, I suspect the cover will warp, if not melt.
All said and done, since the battery works well (so far, in my limited testing) it is worth the price I paid ($25 shipped.) It says on the package there is a 12 month warranty. Does that mean it will be worth the expense to ship the return and pay for shipping a replacement back to you (probably $30), probably not.
Batter 2800
I also got this battery with cover for my Vodafone TP2. Sure plactic is cheap (I cannot tell that original back cover is much better...), but hole for stylus disappointed me at all- I have to use pen or scissors to extract it out. Better do not leave it thee at all.
Anyway battery works longer.
I am much content with replacement battery 1600mAH which lasts longer than original (bought on UK ebay , too).
