Upgrade to WM6, WM6.1 or WM6.5
I think the old how to is a littlebit old so I'll write a new one and maybe add screenshots later too.
For the old Utility:
(For the new Utility is is described in the second post)
Before starting: Connect your phone to your PC and be sure ActiveSync shows the phone as connected. (It has to have a partnership with the PC you are using!)
1) Download a ROM and extract it to any folder you want to.
2) Open the folder. There are two CAB files inside (EnableRapi.cab and Cert_SPCS.cab)
3) Copy the CABs to your phone and install them.
4) Soft reset.
5) Search and run Upgrade_ROM.bat (doubble click it).
6) Wait untill all is finished. (You will see a message telling you that)
7) Hold Camera and Voice Dial button while resetting. Answer with the green phone button. (Call button).
All ROMs using the old way:
-TouchFlo Charmer WM6 by Vlodeck
-Charmer TouchFLO WM6 German by Ridingshark
-Talking to the active cooks at the moment. Infos soon.
You are finished now. Enjoy your new ROM.
Please tell me what ROM is using what way. I'll add it then.

Gauys i try to put new ROM and i falow all instructions. But when i make reset there is just start up screen with
IPL 1.12
SPL 4.12.0000
GSM 01.12.20
OS 4.0.0.0
Can someone help me how to turn back all or how to finish these

I am using CE OS 5.2.20753 Build 20753.1.4.0 PV SB on O2 Atom Exec. I am trying to flash my ROM with any of the provided ROMS in this forums rite from WM5 till Jamies latest ROM.
As a background, I have already configured my mobile in VISTA laptop using the MANUALS & RAR files, provided around a year back.
The problem is as follows:
1. I run the package, which internally unzips all the files in C:\Windows\Temp
2. DSUU starts executes and provides a screen to select OS, OS+Extended ROM, OS+Eboot only, etc....
3. I tried using both ALL, OS only, OS+Extended ROM but i get the error as mentioned below.
4. I get a screen which speaks about all the my current RADIO, ROM version and the TO BE new versions.
5. I select OK / Continue.
6. Program reboots my Atom exec and stucks in "USB CONNECTED" black screen. This continues untill i try to manually terminate the DSUU process.
7. To recover from this, I remove the battery manually and insert and start the phone.
8. Phone starts working from the stage where I started flashing with new ROM.
I am totally confused as i tried a lot of ROMS rite rom Wm5, WM6 & WM6.1 which also includes all the ROMS, which i have already used in the past on the same phone.
Gurus, please suggest the possible wayout, as i am stuck on this ROM for a long time and unable to test all these new wonderful ROMS.

use win xp not vista in flashing roms...
Use the search function, there is an answer to Your question in some of the forums at xda-developers and it is posible to flash roms from VISTA, but after doing some reinstalation on USB drivers and some tweaking....try to find VISTA ROM UPGRADE
My experience is:
I followed the instructions and they worked 2 times and I have flashed the ROM twice, I dont know what happened to my computer because after that never again make it to work in vista.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have flashed this mobile around more than 20 times out of which atleast 10 times in Vista.
My problem is, after flashing the current ROM, i am unable to flash on this device. i tried flashing other device from the same laptop and it works
When i start the flashing procedure, mobile enters into Boot mode and then nothing happens. i remove battery and mobile boots up with the same old ROM.

I am an inexperienced user and have a few simple questions. I have a touch dual originally from orange uk. I've done the cid unlock thing and found that fairly easy.
I want to upgrade the system to 6.1 or 6.5. Can i copy the system on the phone already so I can revert back to it if the new version ***** up?
Is it better to put on a more worked out 6.1 rom than the new 6.5 which may have a few glitches since I'm not a great tinkerer or will the 6.5 provide a stable load and forget solution.
Finally which is the best rom out there for stability and features and user friendly.
to revert back, u'll need to fully backup your old wm6 before flashing the new ROM. if u don't like the new ROM, flash back your old ROM and restore from the backup and u're back to square one.
if u want stable, forget about wm6.5. stick to wm6.1.
I'm happy enough backing up my data side of thinggs. How do I back up my operating system or do I have to download a wm 6 operating system in the same way I down load the 6.1 system?
If you search around the forum there is a copy of the OrangeUK ROM on here (singed, with radio) I have it sat on my PC from a while ago.

that s excellent thank you very much. Can anyone recommend a good 6.1 with all the bells and whistles?
I personally use Salvy.C.83's ROM. Not found any real problems with it and the battery drain is much less than any other Manila 2D ROM out there.

To do it to the hard SPL 1.22 do I need to go through the following routine
1. download the attached files
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable
(OPTIONAL, better to skip it! step 7. if you only want to test the sspl try flashing the attached splash screen by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-splash-niki)
8. you can now flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki
9. after installing the hardspl you can flash any rom
Just subsidising the new hard SPL 1.22 at line 8. Or can I miss out all the sspl part and just go straight in at line 8?

I have a tmous HD 2 that orinally had windows os on it. I have since tried to flash a new rom. When I originally started this process I was dual booting. The phone would start out in windows mobile 6.5 with no update and I had to phisically launch the Android rom. After this I started playing around in order to get phone to boot in android only. The SPL I have is 2.08 HSPL I was getting stuck at the t-mobile stick together screen and then I tried bootloader mode and I was able to launch boot loader mode but wont let me do anything. Originally the rom was in an unziped format and thats how i was dual booting. Then i tried the ziped format and this is where my phone has went bonkers and won't do anything, by that i mean it wont turn on in either mode regualr or boot load. tried to connect to computer and computer dosent regonize it. has anyone ran across this? and if so can you please help me out? i am a little tech savvay but not great at it. any help would be greatly apricceated. Also when i had android running on phone it was supprisingly fast and worked flawlessly!

Q; How to install cooked Rom (using Task 29)
My Install Strategy;
· Run Microsoft My Phone Sync
· Turn off antivirus software in Desktop PC (Stop Avast Anti-Virus)
· Remove SIM and microSDHC Storage Card
· RUN XDA Developers “HD2 Task 29” as an Administrator
Task 29 is not mandatory that's true, but it's a safe way to ensure that you don't have any old files remaining after flashing a new rom.
There is no harm in doing it and the easy way is to use the tool I provided in this post:
Connect your device and flash as you do with an ordinary rom, when completed (100%) press volume down and keep I pressed until the device has restarted showing the coloured boot screen, then you flash the Rom.
· Install your cooked Rom as an Administrator
NOTE 6: Please, Hard-Reset after flash process has completed.
· Add SIM and microSDHC Storage Card
· Set Time and DATE
NOTE 7: Please, Restart the phone, after first manila screen.
· Run Desktop pc FULL ActiveSync, select setup device.
I have done this but phone wont boot up in order to do a hard reset like mentioned!
Q; I downloaded and extracted the zip file from a cooked Rom, and noticed there was no ruu file attached. What to do?
You can download the SSPL_RUU, here. place the SSPL_RUU file into the map where you unzipped your cooked Rom and lounge to start.
I have done this.
What more do I need to do in order to get my phone back up and running?

Well, more than 24 hours have passed since my original posting and nothing! Many of you read my post, but nobody felt able or willing to offer to help.
So, terrified and having no clue as to what I was doing, after another day of work - success! Amazing! And, I think, more by luck than anything else...
I am going to list below what I did, in the hope that some other poor soul might find something useful in it.
But I cannot stop myself from saying that in this whole website I was unable to find a CLEAR, ORGANIZED and COMPLETE procedure or tutorial about how to upgrade the HTC Hermes - a great pity. It would be a worthwhile endeavour to produce such a document, in language that anybody could understand. No, not even the definitions in the Glossary are enough.
This is what I did:
Preliminaries
- Since I'm working on a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop, I have first installed new drivers for the Mobile Device ("x64 AS Drivers Win 7 Tested & Working") - useful info here: http://www.techparaiso.com/windows-...flash-junkies-on-windows-mobile-phone-devices
This was done in preparation to installing Mitty.
Since these drivers are not signed, you have to restart the laptop, press F8, select to start windows without checking Digitally Signed Certificates
- Installed Mitty
- Installed Hard-SPL-V7 - this one seem to be permanent
- Then I tried to follow the Hermes Upgrade Guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hermes_UpgradeGuide ) - no luck. No idea what was wrong, but in Step 7, I did not have any files named 00_IPL.nb, 01_SPL.nb to delete as per instructions, so I abandoned this course
What worked:
(still with Hard-SPL-V7 installed, still with drivers for Win 7 installed, still with laptop started with Windows - F8 - disable drivers signature checking)
- In the end, I downloaded 21501_1_Springtime.zip from http://www.ferretlife.com/josh/ (once again, many thanks to Hakim Rahman for pointing me to this ROM!)
- I unzipped the file in its own folder; this produced 2 files:
RUU_signed.nbh <= this is the actual update file
RUUWrapper.exe <= this is the program we have to run that will take the RUUWrapper.exe (after we rename it to HERMIMG.nbh) and apply it to the HTC Hermes
- I renamed RUU_signed.nbh to HERMIMG.nbh
- At this point:
I connected my Hermes to the laptop with the USB cable and waited until it was recognized and WMDC came up and connected to the Hermes
I configured WMDC for sync and partnership (did not check more than "Notes" for sync, since I was not really interested in any sync)
- I ran RUUWrapper.exe (from its folder on the laptop) and followed the prompts
○ => I chose proper ILP - for me it was IPL-1.04 and SPL-2.10.011pro (the AutoDetect did not work for me, whether I checked the "Is it a hard SPL?" or not)
○ => after program got to "Verifying ..." it produced Error 260 - at some point, the device was disconnected from WMDC (ActiveSync)
- All that is left is to shut down WMDC, soft-reset Hermes and try again. In one of the many tries, amazingly, it got to start the Upgrade on the Hermes before I got the Error 260, and, although the Error 260 was displayed, it continued with the upgrade and ended successfully, but it did not reboot the Hermes - I turned it off and on again - it worked!
Still confused, but elated by my luck,

Hello everybody!
I am a real, total, complete, hopeless, newbie and I'm writing in the hope that some kind soul with knowledge and experience in upgrading may be willing to hold my hand for updating the OS on my Hermes.
I have been reading the xda-developers.com on and off for about a week now and all I can say is:
1. I am awe-struck by the passion and knowledge of the people active on this site
2. I am overwhelmed by all I have read - I fear I do not understand much of it, certainly not enough as to have the courage to proceed with the update by myself
This is where I am now:
1. I have installed Mitty on my PC and even made it work (!)
2. I ran one of the many Hard-SPL-V7 to be found here and the bootloader screen did display the modified info; eventually, I clued in to the fact that the changes this software made to my HTC were only temporary
3. I regrouped and now:
- I have read more than once the Hermes Upgrade Guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hermes_UpgradeGuide
- I have downloaded and decompressed:

That's why I would love to find a kind mentor and helper, to hold my hand and direct me in the actual upgrade.

I have an HTC Hermes 200 (TyTn), originally from Rogers (Canada). I had it unlocked (SIM unlock?) by a technician in a store a while back and I can use different SIM cards with it.

So here I go again. First of all, I want to thank you for writing - as you might have noticed, nobody else had anything to say in response to my post, certainly nobody offered to help.
Secondly, I'd like to ask if you installed Josh's "Springtime" ROM to your HTC Hermes and, if so, how is it working for you.
I'm having problems with it: various sounds (especially when booting, but not only), various "phantom screens", i.e. screens that flash so fast that I don't get to see what's on them, but appear empty. Also, today, when attempting to pair a BT headset, the device froze. The only way to fix it was a hard-reset, thus a reinstall of the ROM (lost all data...). Tried again the pairing with the Bluetooth headset - this time it worked. Loaded data again OK. Made a change in the order of the items in the Today screen OK. Tried to have a look at the insides of the device with "My Mobiler" and - without my actually doing anything, my Hermes is now - again! - frozen.
I'm getting fed up with this, it gives me no confidence at all in the ROM. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll check it out.
In the meantime, my HTC Hermes (with its new "Springtime" ROM, installed and re-installed several times) continues to freeze at various times, for no reason I can fathom. I'm not a happy camper...

I am using Windows 7 OS on a Dell Laptop.
I am trying to Flash and replace the Rom on a Toshiba TG01 using, I understand the method needed, but I cant get TG Downloader to recognize my phone. TGtools dosent run at all. (Boots for 3 seconds then turns off) Would someone be able to direct me to some information that would help me run the applications on Windows 7. I checked every threads and cant find any reference.

power off then press and and hold cam button + power= you must get a white LED. If not, you has not a 6.5 Rom with 0321 Radio and you not able to recognize by tg downloader. pls try and post your feedback

1. The screen blinks,
2. The Brand Logo Screen stays for a about 2 min.
3. Windows 6.5 loads normally...
I guess I have the wrong Rom, and only the SD card method would work.

wron ROM 100% you need firs flash standard wm6.5 this: miRom 7 radio 0321 as .tsw (if is not rename it to tg01wp_00.tsw)
