Overview
The Windows Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit adds documentation, sample code, header and library files, emulator images and tools to Visual Studio that let you build applications for Windows Mobile 6.5. This document contains important information about this package. For general information about writing software for Windows Mobile, please see the Windows Mobile Developer Center. The Windows Mobile 6 SDK must also be installed in order to use any of the Windows Mobile 6.5 Gesture API or samples. Windows
Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit comes with the following Emulator Images:
Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional Square Emulator
Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional QVGA Emulator
Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional WQVGA Emulator
Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional VGA Emulator
Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional WVGA Emulator
Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard Square Emulator
System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2; Windows Vista; Windows XP Service Pack 3
Known Issues:
>>On some configurations, repairing the emulator image pack may show an error dialog if Visual Studio is not installed. The dialog can be closed and the repair will finish successfully.
>>Removing the emulator image package will remove the Cellular Emulator shortcut from the Start Menu (when other locales or the Windows Mobile 6 SDKs are installed). Refreshing the remaining locales or the SDK will re-install the shortcut.
>>If the install fails with "Setup Wizard ended prematurely" message, install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and restart the Windows Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit package install.

Buddy you are a little late. I already downloaded it the day it was released, and not only that, i with the help of people at ppcgeeks cracked open the qvga emulator image and made an RTM version official rom from it, the build is 21234. The build is stable althought the 21812 is faster than this build.

krazy u remember once u cooked a 6.5 rom known as VANILLA MANILA EXTREME 6.5 which was based on the beta release of 6.5 which included the touch flo 2d and the 6.5 standard scrolling and similar features of vanillamanila 6.1 but due to many bugs u stopped working on it
CAN U PLEASE START WORKING ON IT AGAIN.... i AM STILL USING THAT ROM as it was FULLY LOADED
and please add new packages in it
PLEASE ITS A REQUEST
or YOU try to make a fully loaded rom containing the dialer skins, the camera album, the KEYBOARDs,etc etc....anything more that u lyk but applications using GPRS are useless for me
i can give u the nbh file of that OS if u want
thanks

Hey my friend, you late 2 weeks...
Thanks.

i come to know today that this is not SDK
see this link for more information http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2009/06/04/sdk-dtk-drk-wtf.aspx

Ya, you are right buddy, its a DTK (Developer Toolkit). Actually the codebase of Windows Mobile 6.5 is not different as far as Base System Services are concerned. Most of the changes are on the upper layers related to UI and its management. So it is feature compatible with Windows Mobile 6. That is the reason Windows Mobile 6 SDK can support development of WM 6.5 with just the addition of DTK. As far as i know the only new API available in the 6.5 DTK is Gesture API which can be used for recognizing flicks and other finger gestures in our software.

can u do one thing export registry HLM\System\Loader from this SKD/TDK
and upload it here
i need it for study

Yup sure, will do that in a while.

Here it is. Be aware that it may also contains some emulator specific files. Try to compare the reg file first with your current on. If you find anything interesting, please also post in you Windows Phone 6.5 Development thread.

Any Way To Scroll The Menu With Dragging in WM 6.1 ?

Hi
In WM 6.5 You Can Scroll The Programs And Menus Buy Dragging Any Where , But In WM 6.1 You Have To Use The Scroll Bars !
Is There Any Way To Make The Scrolling In WM6.1 Like The One In WM6.5 ? !
Thanks
Yes, it is possible
Infact that is the default feature of WM 6.1, if it is not removed by the chef while cooking the ROM to again more free RAM.
Try any of the 6.1 based ROM from this forum.
@Duron: No it cant be removed and it has became a feature of the Windows Mobile OS itself. It could be removed in older days (with Elf for example) when it was not part of Windows Mobile OS itself, rather it was provided by an external HTC tool called BioTouch. Now its inseparable.
Thanks Every One
krazy_about_technology thank you
i have downloaded one of your 6.1 roms
and it has the Scrolling feature
thank you so much
You are most welcome friend. Enjoy your phone!
guys iam srry
but there is a great rom iam using now , and its very good and comfo
but the only thing wich is missing is the scrolling stuf
could any one help me adding it again to the rom ?
thanks every one
@ Krazy,
Thank's for correcting me.
But I guess I had flashed a 6.1 ROM which did not had touch scrolling in it, So thought it could be removed while cooking.
Anyway it's good for us that microsoft has made it part of OS.
@Duron: Yes, you are right buddy, in earlier versions of 6.1, MSTOUCH was not there (this is the name people use to describe the built in flik scrolling in WinMo). These versions also have a weird problem, that if you copy 2-3 files to phone mem which are also present in the ROM itself (i mean you override the rom file), then the device would get really really slow. It would take upto 5 minutes to open the WIndows folder in file explorer. This issue was solved in some builds just before the one i used in Pro Users ROM v1.0. And at the same time, Microsoft introduced touch scrolling in the WIndows Mobile itself.
@Hassan: Buddy, there is no way you can enable touch scrolling in that rom without rebuilding it with a newer SYS which means, you create a new ROM. Only HTC Touch (Elf) and above phones have a touch screen driver that can do this with the help of biotouch.exe utility. It requires this utility + support for it in the touch.dll driver. This driver file is unique for every device and cannot be used across devices, atleast not between those which have fundamentally different types of touch screens. For reference, see how the touch screen of a touch series device from htc differs from a device like gene. you will get the idea, the hardware is different.
how do i know which rom im using
i have the x7510 .i heard that the michy rom is really good.how do i know which rom im using.also is the oem rom any good.

[ROM][GSM][Omnia Pro B7610] Sumit Bhardwaj's WM 6.5 build 21911 JC2 Full+Extras ROM

Hi guys,
Here is a full JC2 21911 ROM that I have built for my personal use. I thought it might be of some interest for others too
Link : Download from Megaupload.com
Here is what is in the ROM :
- Windows Mobile 6.5, CE OS 5.2.21911 (Build 21911.5.0.94), with Start button on top.
- Full, unmodified JC2 ROM with LZX Compression and 12 MB Pagepool for optimum performance.
- Phone Memory : 146 MB, RAM: 72 MB on start
- Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool (Highly versatile tweaking utility)
- DotFred's Task Manage 3.3 for WM 6.5 (Highly useful and detailed task manager for power users)
- GPRS Counter application from JE2 ROM (Useful for keeping track of GPRS data usage for limited GPRS plan users. Can show stats in chart as well as report format)
- Midomi Application from Omnia II (Music information recognition software)
- MortScript 4.2 (A very popular scripting runtime for Windows Mobile)
- OpenNETSDF v2.3.0.21 (A framework that complements .NET CF, needed to run many modern .NET based apps).
- SQL Server CE 3.1 (Although SQL Server is always there on Windows mobile in background, this version supports a GUI tool, Query Analyzer, using which you can run SQL commands on your phone )
- XDA Shutdown v1.01 with Black Theme (Shutdown, Restart, Sleep or Hibernate your mobile with ease.)
- AutoClose Patch 1.1 (Enhances the way memory allocation/deallocation happens on Omnia, useful for keeping phone running for long time without restart)
- Bluetooth Toggle Application (One touch toggling of bluetooth)
- MADE Text Editor (A simple text editor that supports both ANSI and Unicode text formats)
- PPC PIM Backup (Great Personal Information (contacts, messages, calender, task etc) backup utility)
- Pocket RAR (Archiving utility supporting RAR and ZIP formats)
- Simple Regedit (A powerful registry editor, despite the word simple in its name )
- HTCSensorSDK.dll and LibGLES_CM.dll (Needed for accelerometer and OpenGLES v1 support in games and manilla kind of apps)
- Microsoft Voice Commands (from WM 6.5.3 build, the latest version available. Recognizes asian accents quiet well, including Indian english )
- Tweaks (Orientation Settings Enabled, Titanium Enabled by Default, JBlend Font Size fix, WinMO default Settings icon enabled, Samsung Phonebook as softkey on titanium, Disabled lines between tradional today plugins)
Please note that as I said before this was for my personal use, so everything is according to my preferences. If you feel your preferences are same, use it else ignore it. Just a small disclaimer
Cheers!
Super cool !!
@ Krazy,
First, Congrats on your first ROM for Omnia.
So the expert is back, and delivers the goods, but this time for Omnia
As per my knowledge, there is no proper kitchen available for Omnia, but still you did it buddy.
Definitely I hope there will be more ROM's coming out from you for Omnia. And since it is coming from you, it is rest assured it will be bug-free and well tested one. The way you have been doing in GENE forum.
Regards,
Duron23
Thanks for you good words buddy. I have posted rom for the first time even though i was cooking for quiet some time. Thats because I felt no need for it, Daskalos is doing so good. But as of now when I built this rom, Daskalos has just released 21908 jc2 rom. So he may not release a 21911 rom. Since It was ready and running quiet well, I thought why not release it for others too.
Its tested for some time and is running absolutely fantastic on my phone. This is just like the Pro Users Series for gene. Its a full rom with no features cut, latest sys version and added features with very less compromise on phone memory (4 MB only). Lets see how people take it
Thanks Krazy
Hello Sumit
Thanks a lot for the ROM..
So the great chef is ready to rock the Omnia forum...
Question
Hi, used to "work" with wm devices and just wanted to ask you a question before i try this out: if i flash will it unlock my carrierlock??? I had a few htc's and just did a cid but with this one i can't find anyhthing......... Please advice if you can.
becosemsaida
sexxxyyyyy yaar !!!!!! oye hoye first Rom..So what if i dont have an Omnia.my friend has na..
will flash and give my feedback..
Dear Sumit,
Thanks buddy... I have been running from Pillar to Post and knocked every Samsung offices door to demand WM 6.5 for Samsung omnia pro gt b7610 aka Louvre.
I am yet to download this and load on my louvre.
I was an avid user of T-Mobile MDA vario but purchased in USA and unlocked here. It had no upgrades that I could do, practically outdated but still a giant killer!
I purchased the Louvre since I am used to the QWERTY layout since I use the phone as a Business phone. I may sound crazy, but I prefer to use a WM pda than use a Blackberry.
Can I reach out to you to understand the process better as I do not want to brick this phone pl???
Kedar
nice, any screenshots?
yupp...please upload some screenshots dude..
Thanks for sharing...I can't seem to flash my phone with these exe files using windows 7, however, I have successfully flashed with the octans downloader method with the PDA (.nb0 file). You may also note that I haven't been able to flash through (eboot.nb0) or (pda.bin)files having extracted the same with "Executor". therefore, would you be able to post an .nb0 file somewhere as I'm interested in trying your rom..thanks in advance.
ROM
but in his archive you got an .nb0 file
i just finished downloading it!!!
I just realized it...finished downloading it and figured out that it is indeed an .nb0 file...flashed it right now...booting for the first time...aligning the screen for the first time...hopefully this is something I need and will keep for a long time!!

Dude... I'm quite interested in what you install after hard-resetting... The RAM load in your device seems to be pretty heavy.
When I was a newbie of official and medkid's ROMs, I installed a lot of softwares as well. But now I keep my device from those which are seldom used(just storing them), and use the default applications as often as possible. For instance, I used WkTask very often before using WM6.5 ROMs, but since WM6.5 consume too much RAM space, I decided not to use WkTask any more; instead, I use the default Task Manager now(assigned to the hardware button of Record).
Actually, to release much RAM space, I use WM6.1 themes when I'm using WM6.5. Besides, I disable the default lock screen and Titanium. Those let me get about 20 MB in WM6.5 system. Nevertheless, the Start Menu is an annoying cause of RAM consumption...
But I still advise you to use WM6.5 instead of WM6.1, 'cause user interface & scrolling engine are not the only improvements of WM6.5. The codes of WM6.5 are much optimized. Some new functions, e.g. widgets & Office Mobile 2010, are exclusive for WM6.5.
Picture Screen
With Capture Screen active only 4Mb of Free RAM
Implemented Program :
- Resco Explorer
-Total CMD
- File Explorer Extension
- Dial Pad Skin by Marshall
- SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 with Latest Skin

I use Microsoft My Phone for backing up SMS and PIM, and Windows Live for backing up contacts.
I haven't used other backup software since a long time ago... So I can't suggest any. By the way, I remember that you can just copy the cemail.vol and pim.vol file in the root of the File Explorer. That equals backing up you SMS and PIM.
Quick check: SD Card needs to be less than 1 Gig for this?
I've been on WM5 for always on an Atom Life and I think its time for a change.

[Q] How can I remove an app from a cooked rom. (Windows live.)

Hey all, I need to know how I can remove the Windows live app from my HTC HD2 running winmo 6.5, that I recently installed the "Maxsense Energy Rom" on. It came with the older version of Windows Live, and I would like to use the new one available 11.1, I believe, but you can not do this without removing the old version first, it will not work. So, bottom line is, How do you remove an app from windows mobile 6.5 that came in a cooked rom?
P.S.
I love this sight, I have learned alot, I am running a T-Mobile, HTC HD2 with winmo
6.5, with the Maxsense Energy Rom, as well as Android Gingerbread 2.3.
Thanks
You would need to unpack the rom into a kitchen, remove the app, rebuild then flash it again,
sadly most (all) cooked roms are protected and wont unpack into the kitchen.
so, the easiest option is ask your chef if they would kindly
a)make you one without that app
Or
b)let you have a copy of the kitchen
You can also try
c) dump the phone into .raw files with psdread, then use a kitchen to convert those back into a cookable format.(not 100% sure this works with cooked roms.)
can you not unpack the cab & manually transfer files to overwrite existing files using resco explorer or total commander !
I do not know why cooks load these type of apps in ROM, would make more sense to implement them via cabs at second boot thus allowing easy upgrade/removal as users require.

Hi,
You don't need to remove it, I installed v11 over the top of cooked in v10 yesterday and have no ill effects whatsoever. (I can use the Bing section, Hotmail integration and Messenger with no problems)
Hey thanks for all the responses, As far as installing the new live version 11,
you can install it, and the app goes on the phone, but when you open it using the new icon, it only opens the old version. They look very similar, but are not.
Check your version, and make sure it's 11, and not 10.7. Or... I am having a different issue than you are??? Either way, I think I will live with the old version for now, if I need to "Re-cook" The rom in order to just upgrade an app that does work. Thanks guys!!!

developing application for Win CE 6.0 in C language using Visual Studio 2005/2008

Hello XDA forum members,
How are you.
I am new to Win CE development and looking to develop application using C languages using Visual Studio 2005/2008 on Win 7(64 Bit) machine.
I don't have the real handset device on which the application can be tested upon, so is there any possibility of Emulator to check our application developed.
Please let me know the process, tutorials and tools.
thanks in advance.

Ok.
That's what I've learned by myself:
---Programming Language:
You need to learn an object oriented language.
You can use Visual Basic .NET or C#.
I advice you C# (I developed some WinMo apps with this language)
If you have experience with C only, is better to understand the foundamentals of O.O. languages uppermost.
---Development Environment
You could use IDEs provided by Microsoft but they're quite heavy and I don't reccomend them to start.
Intead, I advice you the Sharp Develop IDE, it's light, free and open source.
---Emulators (part1)
You can download from the official Microsoft website many Windows Mobile emulators. They're released as .msi file so you can install them with just a few clicks, like any other .exe installation file.
I advice you the Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 Professional emulator.
---Emulators (part2)
Windows Mobile comes with the .net compact framework 2.0 runtime preinstalled. If you want to code and run any app you need to download here the .net compact framework 3.5. Then you can install that .cab on your emulator
---Emulators (part3)
Don't test your apps on real hardware.
PDAs and PPCs are quite slow but most of all they're at least 10 years old and they have very limited storage.
The more you'll write on memory, the more you'll slow down your device.
And unlike modern smartphone that has large storage and the new trim technology, the difference with PPCs is noticeable.
I'm curious to see your apps!!
Let me know if you have any question.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge @Mich-C appreciated. SharpDevelop looks almost like old Virtual Studio. I like that
AFAIK only version 3.2 is able to build for net framework compact 3.5
I got the .Net CF 3.5 Power Toys and Windows Mobile 6 Professional + Standard SDK Refresh already.
Just framework 3.5 SDK is hard to find. Microsoft removed these older SDKs from their web. Can you provide me a link?
Hi @Traace.
This page explains everything : https://github.com/icsharpcode/SharpDevelop/wiki/Compact-Framework-Development
You can still download .net cf 3.5 SDK, It's a web installer
