Oryginal ROM backup - Touch2 ROM Development

I would like to install new ROM (ver 6.5.5). How can I do backup my previous - oryginal ROM?

You dont need to, you can always take it from the official site.

In case you do want to back-up use this tool....

Just a quick question. What is the method for installing new rom from SD card?
I know you have to hold down VOL- and boot, but where do you put the file?

Check that you have enough space on your SD card.
Have you got debugging checked?
thank you for your quick answer. everything worked perferctly. but i kinda have another question. . how do i install a new radio. do i have to do it like i would install a new rom: So Rename the downloaded .zip to "update.zip" and copy it to my sd card. and then use the patched recovery thing to load it ?? or do i have to go another way.

You're right, you install exactly the same way. Just follow the instructions carefully.
what instructions?
i renamed it to update.zip but it says cant find such file or smth.
for what els do i need to take care of?
now it seeemed to work out. but after installing radio and rebooting im back on the recovery screen. it says formatting cache for some minutes now. is it right?
this can take a while...
FYI, if ur flashing from SD via the recovery image you dont need to rename to update zip, just select the option from any zip file..

Some questions about ROMs.

So I'm using Modaco's custom ROM and want to try the Clean ION ROM. I plan on installing that just to try it, and then revert back to the official HTC ROMs.
So my question is... if I do the update.zip process to install Clean ION, will I lose the ability to use the update.zip process? (Will I have to root it again?) And I have the recovery image etc on my SD Card, if I format the SD card will I lose root-access or whatever you call it (the power + home button thing)?
And if I want to revert back to the original... should I use the RUU or one of the Update.zip files posted up on Modaco? And same question applies here, will I lose the ability to root?
Thanks

seems you have no idea what you are talking about. you might wanna find out some things about the recovery image, the meaning and making of root access and the difference between update.zip-style updating and ruu-style updating...
edit: btw, this is not meant to offend you, but you will run into some problems, or at least have way more work than necessary if you don't know what you are doing...
First of all if you are using MoDaCo's ROM you should have a custom recovery (power + home). If you have flashed the recovery there is no way to disappear if you format your memory card (SD Card). If Clean ION ROM is prerooted you don't have to root it again. If you want to go back to the original HTC Hero ROM , just download a RUU-WWE update in .exe from the original HTC website. But if you want to keep the custom recovery and custom ROM then use MoDaCo's update.zip and update through your custom recovery

Connect to device in download mode

Hello Guys,
i just tried to install ICS. I did everything right, the big problem was, i moved the CWM backup to my pc ... i don´t know why :-/
I formated my device and tried to install the ROM. The next problem is, it doesn´t install. Everytimes I start the install process, it shows up an error "Status 7" in CWM.
Now i´m not able to backup my device, can´t connect to it via USB and can´t install ICS.
Is there any chance to repair my GS2? Is there any tool that is able to connect to it´s USB storage in download mode? I mean, Odin is able to connect and write data, why no other tool?
Thank you alot!
GR
Are you able to boot still in cwm recovery?
If yes, then copy youre backup on a sd card and try to recover it.
Which version of ICS you wanted to flash?
Status 7 usually means you're trying to flash something meant for another device.
Yes i´m still able to boot in CWM.
The problem is... I don´t have a MicroSD. And i don´t have a card reader, too...
It was this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574718
(ICS 4.0.4)
Damn ... is there no other way? Isn´t it possible to connect in download mode? :-/
Thanks!

Let's start with the basics. What model phone do you have? (label under battery) Because that link is for an i777 ROM, and this thread is currently in the i9100 forums.
Then try to borrow a MicroSD Card and a card reader from someone.
I think it's the easiest way.
I´m currently waiting for my MicroSD, i bought yesterday.
Before i´ll download a original firmware, i try to backup.
My model is the i9100, unbranded. Damn... it´s mentioned nowhere, is it?
Do you know any ICS (as stable as possible) for i9100?
Thank you guys

What's "mentioned nowhere"? That the ROM you installed is for the i777? Sure it is. By sheer fact that the ROM is actually in the i777 forums, and NOT in the i9100 forums.
EDIT: whoops, accidentally thanked your first post.
Arr, the only place i didn´t look...
indifferent, i´ll try to backup and then look for a 9100-Rom.
Hello again.
I just got my SD card. I packed the backup in "ClockworkMod\", but i think this is the wrong folder.
Also i tried to use this ICS Version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530179
Short time after installation start, there comes a message "getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys2" || ... (various other name-variants of galaxy s2. And last but not least "(Status 7)" ...
What´s the problem? It´s a GSII Version of ICS... why comes this message?
Thanks

Since you tried to install an i777 ROM, your build.prop may have the model specified for that phone instead now, instead of for the i9100. Check that.
If I'm right, you can either fix that yourself if you have root, or re-flash a stock i9100 firmware first.
Damn :-/ Yes my phone is rooted. But what helps me this? My phone is bricked at the moment. The only access is the external SD...
Can i also fix it by appling a backup? Where do i have to place the backup so CWM detects it?

Can you reboot to recovery, plug it into your computer via usb, and start an adb shell? If so, you can try pulling build.prop to your computer, editing it, and pushing it back.

Yes, this may also work. You can put it in your external SD under clockworkmod/backup, but you'll have to mount your external SD when in recovery mode before it will be visible.
I put the folder "2012-04-01.20.34.24" into "\Clockwordmod\backup\2012...".
In Recovery Mode i don´t have to mount the sd card. Its already mounted.
But always i select "Restore" it shows "No files found." :-/

A workaround worth a try do a nandroid backup then locate the CWM backup folder and copy your old backup in that .
jje
Or, mount usb storage in recovery, and that will give you access to your internal sd. Then you can copy the back up to /clockworkmod/backup, and it will see it.
How should this work? http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/NANDROID_Backup "Alt + B"? Since when has a handy such keys...? Or misunderstood I this?
I just updated CWM to 4.0.0.15. But it doesn´t find the backup :-/ (yes i mounted the external sd, if this was "exmc" ...)

That page is likely deprecated with information from phones with hardware keyboards, like the G1, or the Droid.
Which keys have i to press then?

Upgrading straight from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2

Hey guys, I unlocked the bootloader on my phone and rooted it.now I want to turn S-off and flash a new Rom. My question is, can I just flash a 4.2.2 Rom or do I have to update anything before I do it? Any help would be great!

You can flash a 4.2.2 ROM; however, be aware 4.2.2 uses a different format for SD than 4.1.2 does. The standard practice if coming from 4.1.2 is:
1.Move everything you want to keep, including Titanium backup folder, pics, music, everything...from your SD to a PC.
2. Copy ROM onto your SD storage from PC or download.
3. Boot into recovery and wipe data and cache ONLY.
4. Flash ROM.
5. Boot into new ROM for first time.
6. After it boots up, boot back into recovery.
7. Format SD card (main SD storage only).
8. Boot back into ROM, set it up, and transfer all your personal stuff into the 0 folder on your SD storage.
9. Enjoy!

Yes you will need to have a 3rd party bootloader. Theres a few guides here and on the Main One forums on how to.
Also, to address something you mentioned in your OP...no need to be s-off.
Would not formatting your 'SD Card' cause any issues? Whenever I try to flash an AOSP 4.2.2 ROM it crashes shortly after booting and the power button no longer wakes the phone, would this be the cause?

Yes. You have to follow the directions explicitly. In other words, you have to wipe your sd card the first time.

How would you do that from TWRP? I have format sd card, but that'll wipe all my backups etc.
EDIT: Also, when you flash a ROM, doesn't it automatically wipe all the partitions before it installs? Also, someone mentioned alternative bootloader? Is that necessary, what alternatives are there?
Yeah I flashed a 4.2.2 Rom and of course it went smooth but I lost my data backups oh well live and learn

wonder how they will fix all this for an official update.
unless they just going to leave us on 4.1.2

Flashing a ROM doesnt necessarily automatically wipe partitions, and the ones that do dont touch your personal data. An alternative to TWRP would be clockwork mod recovery.

Did you read the instructions? Step 1 says to back up ALL your data onto a PC because the file structure is different on 4.2.2 that 4.1.2.
I never deleted my ad contents when I switched to 4.2.2 they just get "moved" just "move" everything back and your good to go .. I would hate to backup 20 gigs worth of music and pics just for a Rom

I expect that the official update will erase the entire phone, but I could be wrong.
EDIT:
Found this link, which indicates that there may be some emulation of directories. Maybe they will copy the files over:
