Blank Screen after Step 1 - XPERIA X10 Android Development

I am facing strange problem while rooting,
I successfully finished step1 of rooting process, removed the USB cable and then battery,
now the phone is not starting at all when i press the power button i just a short Green LED blink and thats it the screen is totally blank not allowing me to do any thing.
Bythe way my debug option was enabled before starting the root process which could be the causeeeeee....
anyone here whooooooo could heeeeeeeeeeellp me its making me mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmadddddddddddddddddddddd i hace spent 24 hours tried to solve it but noooooo luck
thaaaaaaaaaaaaank u

Check your device ID.. Wrong device ID can be a reason of that problem

no it is not the problem as the step 1 gets over perfectly... for any other device ID it gets stuck at the beginning only

i seriously think that you havent run step1 completly! You really have to wait till the very end, there are some points at that you might think that the progress is finished but it isnt wait for the end message!
Regards
Bin4ry

but i get the message that says press any key to continue... whcih indicates that its over?

welcome to my family i have this problem to u must keep the phone off for like two or three houres it may boot up if not 6 hours it may boot up but take care this may mean ur phone is not stable any more im trying to find a solution for my phone nth is working so wish ur phone is not like mine...

HELP i have a BIG upgrade problem....

Hey everyone,
Can anyone help me fix this big problem.
I downloaded a update ROM from (http://www.xda-developers.com/incoming/rom160wwe/) with the name RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe.
After trying to upgrading my device, the proces stopped and told me that there was a connection problem. After this, a tryed to re-connect my device to my computer and to finish the upgrade bud nothing happend and stil nothing happens. My T-mobile MDA is not responding to anything. And i can't connect to ActiveSync. The only thing that my mda shows is this (click on the picture too enlarge).
So ones again. HELP me PLEASSSS..... Send any comments to [email protected]
I hoop my Mda can be fix cause it cost me alot.
Don't panic Your device is in bootloader mode.
Just reset the device, place it back in the cradle and re-run the upgrade. It doesn't require ActiveSync as the upgrade process looks after its own connection.
Make sure the cradle is connected directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub. Also make sure the power supply is connected to the cradle.
Thanks for the fast replay bud....
Can you give me a specific step by step to do it the right way? I m not verry good in this kind of things... Thx anywhy
For the moment, hopefully, all you need to do is what I said above. Re-running the upgrade should work OK (although it may depend on what version ROM you had installed already). Give it a try and see what happens.
Wel it keeping telling me that RAPI.dll is missing. Even when i have downloaded RAPI.dll.
I had version 1.60 i think.
Do you no where i can download the version that i had?
Try re-installing Activesync. The latest version is 3.7.1 Build 4034.
You can get it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...7c-ca96-48b4-b5d4-f3e047ca5108&DisplayLang=en
OK thx i wil try that...
I have stil a problem.
Where can i download the ROM version 1.60.00WWE? Cause i'm upgrading with 1.66 bud it showed an error
The same error? And at what point does it happen?
Also, please confirm which ROM you are trying to upgrade with, as you have stated two different versions so far.
dcs i'm sorry you're right.
Well, i'm now upgrading from nothing (it showed what ROM i currently have, nothing) to 1.60.06WWE. I download it from http://www.xda-developers.com/incoming/rom160wwe/ as i sad before. It has the name RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe
reply for more info.
OK. So what is the current situation? Are you still having a problem? If so, what are the details and exactly when does it occur?
Yes, i still got some problems. One of the many is dat after a few min. or so later, the proces stops and i get an error. I have to do a soft reset and start the proces again. So i did.
Bud now i can't connect anymore. What you see below is what i constantly get to see. And it wil do nothing.
How long have you waited with that message displayed? It can sometimes take a while to get started properly. At that time can you see what is displayed on the device?
The picture that i just showed you, i get that immediatly after pushing next in the beginning field.
When the display (see picture) is shown, the display of my device is blank. There is nothing, no words.
OK. Just be to be sure. Put the device in boot loader mode by pressing and holding the jog button (bottom centre of device) and the power button at the same time and press reset button. This should show the bootloader screen with (in your case) Serial V1.03 displayed. Put the device in the cradle and it should say USB V1.03. Then restart the upgrade. When the initial screen displays on the PC click next and the screen you posted above will display while the PC handshakes with the device. Give this some time to complete. If all is well it will progress to the screen showing the versions, etc. and allow upgrade. Click upgrade and again it will show the screen you posted above for a while then (hopefully) continue.
I'm now bizzy with what you sad. 10min. so far.
10 Minutes with the display you posted above? If so then that is too long
Yes exacly... TOO long... i don't no what to do now.. anyways. I'm going to sleep now. I wanna thank you for everything.. I'll hope to speek too you tomorrow. Bye bye
OK. Sorry we couldn't get it sorted tonight . If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
Another thought came to me. Some people who have had this sort of problem found that using a different USB port or even another PC solved the problem.

Bricked Hero

After ROM upload my HTC Hero show only some logo like device out of box. Nothing else is going. Button combinations for bootloader access is not working. Any ideas?
I managed to skilfully brick mine too, is a there a way to get it to boot up via key combination or using USB from a computer?
We are three now.
I know (presumably) my error: I flashed an SPL zip package that could be of the wrong type (Dream).
The boot shows the phone logo (mine says G2 T-Mobile).
The home keydown at boot doesn't work.
Is there a possibility to unbrick it?
Hope someone tells you how to unbrick it as I was about to do the update the ROM, not sure I want to do it now.
Right this is very weird as i had the same picture on my phone and thought it was bricked too..
BUT i just did a soft reset call menu end together. Then i did a hard reset as i wasnt sure if the soft one had done anything. Battery out then in and start up phone whilst holding down house and back key and then it started to boot up. So not sure if this helps anyone i doubt it as its very random but i thought id share just in case!!!
I had just flashed my radio when mine did this..
friend of mine had tha problem too, he had to send his device to htc.. 50 bucks ;-)
hmmm ... i am one of u guys now ...
no matter what key-combo i press, it just show a BOX and an arrow and a phone ... 3 sec later, phone turns off, no matter hwat key u press, it is not doing anything until u unplug the batery ... then when u turn it on, it repeat the same thing again
check if you can access fastboot via back+power when the phone is off. if so install recovery image and then install correct rom. if not i guess you're screwed, not sure though.
This guy

Hope it helps/good luck!

Totaly Briecked 10.1V, i'm pissed now

Hello people, thanks for reading and trying to help in advance hehe
ok here it goes ....
i bought a galaxy tab 10.1v "Australian Vodafone Version" a while back, and since me and other users that own this pices of **** didn't get updates and stuff i decided to "unlock+Root+rom". I did that successfully after following guieds:
unlock :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1064793
root+room: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079781
Everything wsa fine and i had the super user and everything, but in the second guide it says it is recomended or something like that to download ROM Manager from the market which i did, and i started the app and and did a backup. My Tab rebooted to a blank screen , i waited for a while but with no luck so i turned off and tried to go to DW mode or recovery mood so i can at least connecte it to odin3 and do something. When press V- + Power theres no DW nor recovery mode all i see is one smmall line on the left top corner that says "Booting Recovery Kernal Image#"
When i plug the usb into my computer nothing happenes no sound , no new device installing no nothin. but since i have been reading alot regarding this issue, i read something about APX mode and NVflash here and many other websites but i followed this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574
i got my tab connected but i couldn't do NVflash because whenever i do
"--sync" or "nvflash --bl bootloader.bin --go"
i get this :
Nvflash started
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)
some say that that means the device is locked eventho i pretty sure it not because i had the lock logo. anyway ...
just to answer every possible question in advnce and give more info :
*its a 10.1v "Vodafone Australia Version"
*was working fine after root/rom
*stoped working after using the app "ROM Manager" (i think its not compactible)
* the device on somekinda boot loop, the screen would turn on and off "blank screen with nothing in it no sound also"
* pressing Volum down + Pwer will taking me to a blank screen with one little line that says "Booting Recovery Kernal Image#"
*when i plug the usb to the computer nothing hapenes
* in APX mod is working but i cannot do anytning since the NVflash won't work.
* I followed everything step by step
Does that mean my device is useless ? is there anyway to get it back to life ?
Thank you and sorry for the spilling mistakes as im using a F'ed up keyboard
one more thing i did :
I let the battery drain overnight and pluged charged it again hopeing that will help, the battery logo won't even show up, just a blank screen
thanks

Hi Barry. Welcome to XDA. One quick suggestion: If you want to get help in an enthusiasts forum, don't call the object of everyone's affections a "pices [sic] of ****."
We all understand the stress of having non-responsive electronics; but you'll catch more flies with honey...
***edit. Wrote some stuff for you only to realize that you're on a 10.1v. Not sure how I missed that in your title (and thus, I suppose I can't comment on whether or not it really is a POS!). Until just now I never realized how different your tab is from the regular 10.1 (guides are much more difficult to follow!) Anyways, I found these threads that might be useful to you:

i apologize for that, but i was referring to my tab only ... anyways
thanks for your reply and for the links you gave me .. but still the biggest problem is i'm unable to connect my tab to odin, and downloading mode and recovery mode are not even there .. theyre all gone, only APX mode is working and even with that, NVflash won't work and i would give me this error
"Nvflash started
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)"
if i could connect to odin i could actually do something, or even NVflash i could run bootloader and it would install image files and all.
i'm not sure if i can do anything with APX other than NVflash .. or if i could somehow bypass Nvflash error ..
i just have a feeling that my tab won't make it
Just an idea... did you try to do the work with another pc?
For example a fresh XP 32bit install on another pc.
This "usb write error" seems strange.

Thanks for replying. .. Yes i tried with anither pc. . I have read in this forum and others that this error means that the tablet is somehow locked even tho it wasnt before i root/rom it
Its like not writable, ill install a freah xp pro and givr it another try since i tried only win win 7
Did you try to drain completely the battery and then charge?

Yes i did as i metioned in my post, didnt help
When i charged it after i drained the battery, the screen light will turn on but no battery logo or anything.. The only thing that would show up on the screen is when i try to enter downloading mod/recovery mod by pressing power+volume is a little line on the top right corner which says : " booting recovery image# "
thank you for your reply, what do you guys recommend since i can access APX mod, will i be able to do anthing other than nvflash in APX mod?
Since you are getting a usb write error as well as no charge indicator, is it possible that your USB cable is bad?

when i charge, the tablet does charge but no Battery logo, i can tell its charging because the screen lights will go on.
what i have tried so far :
* installed APX but when i try to nvflash it says something like writing failed
* tried both windows XP and windows 7
* drained the battery twice for 2 days
* changed USB cable
* tried to connect it to different versions on odin but computer only recognise the device in APX mode
* device still showing ( booting recovery kernel image#) when a try to access DW mod.
it all started when i used a backup program after rooting it, i don't get .. is its a backup it shouldn't delete everything (the system) and brick the tablet...
whats Kernel ? << noob
any new ideas guys ? is there any other programs/methods out there ?
anyone have the same problem ?
thanks

When it says booting recovery kernel image, did you try to just wait for about 15 to 20 minutes to find out if it boots again, or try logcat command?

** update **
Today i disassembled my tab after i read somewhere in this forum that i might get it back if i take the battery out or unplug the screen cables. Some claim that the touch screen could cause the tab to go into a boot loop; however that didn't work
i decided anyway to buy a new tab either Asus Transformer or Galaxy 8.9, even tho I'm kinda worried that this thing could happen to my new tab when i try to root it and install roms. I don't want to spend that much money until i figure out the problem, so i'm making this tablet "A testing Device" i'm gonna test every possible way to revive it for me and and others. I'll do my best with your help guys to solve this so we can provide help for others.
There was a Guide here in this forum about JTAGing that tablet along with a software that some company use to unbrick devices but i cold not find it, my cousin owns a hardware store and i could use everything i need .. i just need someone to guide me.
Thanks
Sounds like a cool project, sorry it cost so much.
zBarry, You should try this while you can, It sounds simple as it is but it worked for both my tablets that had the 0x4 aka locked bootloader. Sorry if you had already "Lego" lized your tablet into pieces but this may help. :]

As far as I know linux won't help, what % is your tablet charge at? Since you've opened it already why not just de-attach the battery and reattach it back and try to power it directly into fastboot. Normally draining is the same as stopping the flow of current into the tablet. Unlike phones where you can pop out the battery you can't do it to the tab unless you've opened it.
Can you please let me know what steps have you tried so far? Would be nice to know in detailed So I can help you out at best.

i think i have third every possible way out there... and the steps that i did to revive the device your way was :
i taped the power button and left it for like 2 days, then i plugged it to the computer in APX mode to check if its drained or not, but i think it was charging off the computer. So i repeated the first step and left it for 3 days, then plugged it into the socket. after couple of mins the screen turned on, but no logo or anything, just black screen (same issue). i decided to disassemble the device to take the battery out which i did and yet same result. i had hope so i re-did the battery drain thing and left it for a week and when i plugged it i pressed pwr+ vlo + and something.
my tab turns on, but just a black screen it won't that up, and power + volume up will show me a kernel message.
thanks so much, i aprreciate your trying to help any other way you think i should try ?
What sort of kernel message do you get? As far as I know maybe perhaps the contact's arent touching properly? Seems to me you did everything right but when it turns on you don't get the charging icon.
The good part is the display works and atleast you can boot up *Somehow* the bad part is you can't get it into Fastboot mode.
As far as I know the tablet is supposed to light up but have you checked if you get the offline charge icon (That green battery that sits in the middle of the screen and charges?) once you get it to drain/disconnect you should leave it to charge via wall socket for about 5-10secs for that icon to pop up. If you get that icon atleast then you know you are getting somewhere
I wish I had the tablet in hand so I could see what's going on. The whole oceans away solution makes it hard to guess what's happening

Htc one x+ last breath

Hey, to make a long story shorter i tried to root it but did not succeed.. fully.. haha, well it all went smooth until i wanted to go in to recovery first time
after unlocking bootloader, i couldnt get in there, so i erased cache and tried again, and different methods then i started to try to flash another recovery img, didnt want to work and still i could not get in to recovery.... tried to lock and unlock bootloader and other things and nothing....
So i did it from scratch,. but i couldnt even do factory reset from bootloader, couldnt do anything from there really... and then it didnt want to boot normally for some reason, i might just have been impatient but... so i started flashing in another boot.img.... dont ask me why but in the end when i felt there was no more hope i started flashing in everything i had, more or less.. what i think got f'ked up is the Kernel.
i used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 and used that all in 1 tool most of the time, but also tried manual commandands via fastboot..
.
when it locked up totally, it didnt want to boot normally after that i could just get in to bootloader, so i sat all day yesterday putting posts in different threads in several forums so dont say i havent looked ^^
i didnt get any answer anywhere in time and it got uncharched, and was dead since yesterday so i gave up, until today, i couldnt charge it.. but i tried now and from nowhere i could get into bootloader again but this time with too low battery to flash!!
and i dont think its charging properly, dont know why exactly.. so im just sticking the usb cable in and out while its powered off since the red Led just light up for a sec when inserted then nothing, just to maybe get some power in there...
so im kind of at a cricis here, and would need help since i dont have anymore time to try to fix it
dont know exaclty what info you need, dont want to boot in unneccesary right now so just ask if u need any numbers or whatever..
i bought it very recently here in sweden.. dont rly know what more information i can give
Would surely appreciate some solid help!
Sincerely, jeff

Once charged, you could download the correct RUU, flash that, and restart from scratch. You may have to relock the bootloader using Hasoon's toolkit. After that, its not complicated - use Hasoon's kit to unlock again, flash the correct recovery, sideload a ROM and boot up your phone.

or do you mean the ruu.zip version? to flash it manually into the device?

seriously, you need to read atleast a little bit - a million people before have posted exactly the same questions, have had answers posted umpteen times. you need to relock the bootloader before you run the RUU.

Help, I'm Screwed.

hey all, as you know i was trying to port full sense for desire x dual sim community. ive already searched for custom ROM for desire x dual sim on that Chinese market community web site..no luck there wasn't any full jb sense ROM for dual sim dx.
so i ported it myself and to test it i borrowed dx dual sim from my friend.
so it goes like this. my friends dx dual sim was perfectly stock and n wasn't rooted. this morning i unlocked its boot-loader and it all went so well. within 5 min i unlocked the boot-loader and after that i flashed recovery which i founded in previous threads, it said that the recovery was specially made for desire x dual sim and was posted here on xda from that Chinese forums. anyways i flashed the recovery, it was miui using fast-boot and then i flashed superuser package and rooted the desire x dual sim. it was factory rested and it rebooted i saw superuser in the menu and i was quite happy. but then in order to flash the rom i ported, i had to change the recovery as the miui recovery wasn't taking backups. so i changed my recovery to twrp, made by nexus_prime in a few threads back. i flashed that recovery and everything was good till then. after that when i try taking backups from twrp recovery it says failed. i was sick of trying again and again but no luck, then twrp recovery suggested that i should install super su in order to gain root. i said ok install it and then my device rebooted. i saw super su app there and also not to forget i was already having super user installed cause i was rooted. the super su app wasn't working it said updating binary and then it said failed. i uninstalled it thinking its not gonna work for me. after i uninstalled it, i rebooted my deice to fast-boot in order to change my recovery back to miui.
i powered desire x dual sim off and then boom, **** my damn device is not turning on now, ive already tried looking for solution online and ive already tried changing battery and pulling them off and on but no luck damn it. when connected it shows orange led and then cpu vibrates like 5 times every 3 hours later. it doesn't boot neither it gets into boot-loader.
some body please tell me soon what wrong i did and what am i suppose to do now? and some one (@xpirit) said that desire x dual sim cannot be bricked if its s -on.
what should i do now. ill be in big trouble if my friends find out what happned to his device.
someone pls help me out ASAP.
thank you
Let it charge peacefully for an hour

not a battery issue
please i respect youre help but ive already said i aint a battery or charging problem, its annoying to see that kind of solutions - pull battery out, let it charge or unplug and plug it ..etc . all these are really not helping, i think my boot loader or something like that is erased and thats why its happening. i want a fix to the solution, any help is always appreciated, except the stupid battery or charging things.
thanks
lol, you dont even know half of what you are talking about.... you tried to port roms, before even learning rooting and flashing basics, and you tell him his solution is stupid?
Its true, you cant mess up the boot-loader so easily.... its just that you have tried to flash SU binary from TWRP, which is not good.... just boot to recovery, flash a superuser-arm-xyz.zip avaialable on androidsu.com or something, then you will get it booting. Otherwise, if you have mistakenly wiped system partition, then you are out of luck and you will have to take another desire x, root it, take backup, copy it to sdcard and then use it restore system on this phone.
Next time, read read and read more before this kind of experiments.
Regards
Yasir
PLEASE, TRY.. to read carefully sir.
i said desire x t328w is completely dead, DEAD. i cant get into recovery not even into boatloadER. nothing happens when i press power button or try to go to the boot loader. its like it has no life. only sign of life it shows is when it is connected to the charger, the orange led lits up and hence and that only thing which changes in this device.
please, if i could go to the recovery id solved this issue by my self rather than troubling you all. ive been searchinh for this kind of problem over the internet some says it cant be repaired by flashing or etc.. some says cpu is faulty etc. i dont know what wrong i did.
also i didnt flash super user via twrp
i flashed it via miui recovery
IN NO WAY I DIS RESPECT ANY DEVELOPER OR ANY USER. I'M ALREADY IN A MESS WANT A GOOD SOLUTION WHICH SHOULD WORK, RATHER THAN CHARGE YOUR DEVICE OR REPLACE THE BATTERY OR ETC.
THANKS

Did you even try the solution Infinity gave you, porting to another device is very risky and this could be the outcome.

Hmm Yep your Screwed... Looks like it's time to Buy Your Mate a New DesireX
yes, BUY A NEW PHONE (See, i didn't advise to charge battery or something.)
OnTopic:
I happened to have the same issue once on my desire bravo.... and guess what solution fixed it???? (CHARGING IT) coz its battery was SO LOW, whenever i tried to power up, it flashed leds.
Calm down and think, also can you post what you have tried ? Did you let it finish charging ? Tried plugging into pc ? Etc etc, might have to lend your mate your phone ps wtf you testing stuff on your mates phone for ? Best to use your own, if yours is the same take a backup 1st, also dont bother trying recovery go for bootloader 1st once you can get into that rest will be easier, worst case senario you will have to pay someone to fix

Thanks for your sensible answer mate. But I'm afraid you don't know maybe that i cannot access boot loader nor does my phone says a single word. Also I've being charging it for more then 10 hours. Nothing happens when connected to PC. worthless. I'm screwed and i learned a lesson that never to mess around with someone else device even if other says it 'cannot be bricked'.
Thank you all who help and also who really put me this situation.
btw now his desire x is resting at HTC, i don't know what will they say as for now i told them nothing about rooting and all other stuff i tired..

It is common problem with this phone.
Simple cure - pull out the battery and let the phone stay without charger and battery during an hour or two.
Then it will be OK again, but until next power off.
I think the problem is in custom recovery. I have the same problem with friend's phone. But it's working well without power off, so I don't want to mess with it again
Disconnect Phone from charger.
Press the Power button.
Connect the Charger while the button is pressed. Phone should start.
I've done it several times now, main reason being, battery was not having any charge.
Never mind guys it was the motherboard which was really screwed. I don't know what really caused it but the only thing I'm aware of right now is that it'll cost a lot

Yeah they're extortionate prices for HTC's, in the past I've just scrapped phones instead of getting them repaired when they have motherboard or problem relating to charger port.
