<< Full System Backup >> - XPERIA X10 Android Development

hellew,
my status: tec/dev but smartbone noob
my issue: need to be able to fully restore system + installed apps (1st kill all; then get back to current phone/system/apps/settings.. like fresh from vendor)
my thing: X10, Android 1.6
i want to start developing, & therefore 1st need to get root access (1st of all - THX for making this possible + manual!).
logic implication => if i mess/flash 'round, i need to get the phone back into a state, where it's ready to be used (as phone + data).
Obviously, there's 2 ways:
1.) [preferred] Pull a backup-image of all programmable memory (incl. system, installed apps, data, whatever provider settings/data there are..) off the phone.
Restore all of it later, when necessary.
Can anyone kick me to capable tool(s) & maybe tutorial(s), even..? tx!
[no_tard: even a small checklist helps of cause.. if it points straight to X]
2.) Get a full-featured mem-image from phone supplier [SE], and load it onto phone.
Does anyone know if this is possible..?
Does SonyE supply mem-images?
Or is there a bootloader for the phone that can get one, online meby?
Which PC-app is used?
Thanks in advance for the help!
& nice weeknd
[sorry for plain stupidity.
yea, i've already searched 'round quite a bit... but still, not confident enough to wipe..]

notebook-sketch
Like said, I'm a smartphone noob myself, and i only have an x10, so i had the time to pull a few things together...
... wish I had this when i started looking a few days ago (list would've been enough, but here's what i found out..)
*** 1stofall THANKS to all the people uncovering these infos and putting word onto the net!!! ***
For most xda-dev locals, there won't be much new information in here - any correction of wrong content is welcome, though.
I'm stuck with this:
want to develop apps for android/x10 (bt,game,...)
=> need to install them on me phone
=> have to flash it, cause my provider-branding prevents installation of any other software than from android market
(can't f$#king publish .hello world. + every test-run over android market!)
=> have to get back to ORIGINAL state of phone (+1,2 helpful apps there)
### Update 100724 ... i recently got updated with R2BA023 OTA in mid. of July, and today received a message, that another update was available (Austria,3).
I clicked the msg, and it told me to do the update over PC (SEUS).
Did that -> ErrorMsg @ end.
Retry -> ErrorMsg @ end.
###BRICK###
=> Downloaded "Flash Tool(can be used to unbrick..)"
=> worked & i could use my phone again (APN-settings still there, baseband 1.0.16, krnl 2.6.29-rel, build R1FA016)
... Since then I'm switching back & forth between brick & basic version, that is included in Flash-Tool natively
... No other flashtool-version out there has worked for me so far. Tried downloading from 'different locations' => all seemed to be same files anyways.
... The method replacing SEUS files does not seem to work either - (integrity check) the files always get replaced again automatically (by SE), before flashing starts.
... Omnius method did not work either (..least amount of testing).
... SIN_Reconstructor decrypting (although too late for me now anyways) cannot even be tried, since SEUS update is required before ... see above (integrity check).
.... Now for some reason, i can't even get the basic flastool version to run anymore (>5 tries, *seufz*)
I'll probably have to go to the provider's booth on monday, and ask them to re-flash it with their branding (if the can?!).
- don't like that fact, => scared to try gain root access in the future -
Noob-Help:
*) brick: just means your phone is useless at the moment.
f.e. if you try to re-program/flash your phone & s.th. goes wrong..
=> Your phone does not start/boot anymore. Instead you see the <!-trangle> on the screen.
In that case your phone is a brick.
*) unbrick: get your phone back working. (get rid of the <!-trangle>)
Again, program/flash a working firmware image-file onto your phone, to get it to start/boot android agian.
*** DEVICE [SE X10]: ***
*) x10a = x10 american (?_rogers)
x10i = x10 international
*) Start phone in SE Flashing Mode:
1.) Turn the phone off
2.) Remove the battery for at least 5 seconds, then re-insert.
3.) Hold the right menu button (back) and insert the USB cable
=> LED is green. The phone waits for msg from BL-client(PC-app) for ~5sec.
=> so quickly press <start/enter> in flash-tool (automatic in SEUS)!
i prefer this method ... (better then plugging USB with back-button pressed)
1.) Remove battery (for min. 5 sec)
2.) Plug USB cable
3.) Press & hold back-button (right button under the display) with right thumb + slide the battery in with fingers underneath the phone.
=> like above, phone waits => quickly start process.
*) Boot into SAFE MODE:
1.) Turn the phone off
2.) Power the phone back on
3.) When it vibrates, press and hold the left menu button until it boots up and says SAFE MODE in the bottom left corner of the screen (=> quite a while!)
*) Service-Menu:
Use this key-combo in the <unlock screen>... (Menu=rightKey, Home=centerKey, Back=leftKey under the display)
menu - back - back - menu - back - menu - menu - back
=> brings up menu with stats, hardware test features, etc.
-> klick service info, then model info ... see if phone is customized (not branded) or not!
*** FIRMWARE/SOFTWARE SETUP [SMARTPHONES]: ***
*) The 3 main sw-parts: (all of them can be programmed/flashed at once)
* Bootloader:
- IPL (Initial Program Load):
- SPL (Second Program Loader):
The SPL, in conjunction with the IPL comprise a device's bootloader.
Aside from bootstrapping Android, the bootloader also fulfills various diagnostic functions. One of these functions is the manipulation of data in the device's internal flash ram. Depending on the SPL installed, the user can apply a signed NBH file, flash nand images, and more. Note that the SPL is installed and operates independently of the Android build that runs atop it. The SPLs are often packaged in the familiar update.zip format and install from the recovery console in the same fashion as other update files.
* Baseband: Firmware for the radio receiver (telephony..).
* krnl/Android: SW layers in Operaing System, drivers & apps.
..then on top of all this, runs your apps (phone, calendar, crap on..)
-> On Smartphones Android is part of the 'Firmware'.
???
Which parts of the firmware are branded? Only krnl/Android, or are there mods/locks in baseband, and/or SPL too?
I believe my SPL is untouched, since my provider's website directly kicks me to SE-update website when clicking their update-button.
Is there a ~known way how to only replace the baseband/OS firmware, yet.
???
*** PROGRAM/FLASH: ***
*) SEUS update method:
[... see section "SE UPDATES" for a description of SEUS.]
If you want to modify/change what's uploaded to your phone..
=> All contents being uploaded are located in the \db\ subfolder of SEUS (at C:\PRG\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\).
The <blob_fs> files made available for download all over the internet have to be copied into the \blob_fs\ folder in there.
(..simply find out which file is which by comparing the file-sizes)
Then start the SEUS update process again => (your) modified files will be uploaded to the phone.
???
100724 This method does not seem to work for me, since SEUS always replaces the files i have put into \blob_fs\.
It just deletes the files I have placed there (with same name as files downloaded), and downloads them again, fresh from SE.
Seems like every single file gets a validity-check..?
Is this method working any longer?
I'm using Update_Service_Setup-2.10.7.15 (also got Update_Service_Setup-2.10.6.21, but never tried ... sure it updates immediately!).
=> So does the SIN_Reconstructor method still work ?? ... since the files produced in the (*.bin, *.sign) SEUS' root folder
will also be made, after my 116M and 15M files were re-swapped again by SE.
???
*) go see the xda-dev threads/tutorials:
* Newbies Guide to Rooting X10 and giving you the newest firmware
* [GUIDE] Root your X10 R2BA023 ! { Update 06.07.2010 Nicer Instructions }
If not working, mostly because of:
- Wrong ID-number in file "DeviceID.txt"
- flash tool: quit too early. it's not finished when it says "(Finish)", but it's all done if it says "press key..."
- flash tool: not pressed <enter> quick enough (~ 5sec. time)
* if after step 2 you get the !-triangle again => try to do an online update woth SEUS .. this might get it starting again!
*) Unbrick with flash tool:
If all you get is the !-triangle, use he PC-app "Flash Tool" _XIOFUB (can unbrick X10i with provided files).
Has worked before..! Is the tool from update method mentioned 1 above.
???
Update 100725: Phone = brick for 1 full day now...
Tryed >25 downloads with Flash Tool (different versions), SEUS (original from SE, + mod(downloaded ones, +even fully empty \db\)
NO SUCCESS !!!
Bootloader ok, both tools can end the download process sucessfully.
???
*) After unbrick with flash tool:
* install any newer <decrypted rom> image-file, like advised in the xda-dev tutorials
<Newbies Guide to Rooting X10 and giving you the newest firmware>, or
<[GUIDE] Root your X10 R2BA023 ! { Update 06.07.2010 Nicer Instructions }>
???
Did not work for me, yet.
???
* goto Settings -> Tel-Info -> Updates -> Start now
*** SE UPDATES: ***
*) SEUS (Update-Service program, by SonyEricsson)
Find SEUS online:
a.) Goto <www.sonyericsson.com>
b.) cklik <Support>
c.) cklik <Software Updates>
d.) cklik <Download here>, under <Install Application> (bottom right)
-> The SEUS PC-app will guide you through the updating process (+start phone in SE flash mode).
* If updating doens't work ... fully charge your battery & keep trying a few more times. (it often really only worked the 2nd, 3rd time..?!)
* The downloaded files for your phone are stored in C:\PRG\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\ (that's where the folder \blob_fs\ is stored, too)
(might be wrong, but sometimes deleting all files \db\ & retrying the update with SEUS seemed to help in case of problems).
*) OTA (over the air, no PC-software required)
...got my update to R2BA023 OTA, in July 2010 in Austria (3).
* goto Settings -> Tel-Info -> Updates -> Start now / Keep Updated
*** BACKUP: ***
*) 1 Thing - Do this first!:
For 1 time, make an update with SEUS, then after -> save/backup the whole folder, found in C:\PRG\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\ (folder name = some number).
=> Thats something that can be helpful to re-create your current phone-state again later!
*) see xda-dev "[GUIDE] Decrypting your own branded ROM"
(using <SIN_Reconstructor> and <flash-tool>)
"Below is the guide to decrypting ROM which comes from SEUS. By following this guide, you will have your branded ROM decrypted as SIN files and later you can flash back the ROM to X10 with flashtools. So you can root and debrand all you like without worry because later you can flash your branded ROM back to your X10."... read there!
???
As far as I understand it, then you can only flash the (new) files, downloaded from the SE website by SEUS (stored in C:\PRG\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\).
What if want to rip an image off my phone, so I can recreate the whole thing 1:1 later.
Is there no ~known way to read out the memory, if it's alreaady possible to write to it?
???
*) Omnius (PC tool) -> click Advanced:
Use "Backup & Restore TA (Trim Area)"
*) get varoius backup tools from android-market:
all of those will backup data only ... see individ. descriptions.
(contacts, etc.; APN settings; list of installed apps, so you can re-install them manually; ... useful stuff too)
*) Obviously: also backup the all sd-card contents; simply while the phone is connected to PC over USB
(..the same way you get your pictures. Just copy all files & folders from sd-card to a backup folder on your PC).
*** PC-TOOLS: ***
*) SEUS ... see section "SE UPDATES"
*) Flash Tool (can unbrick X10i with provided files) _XIOFUB
* works! (1x needed 2 trys to work ... 1st time = the !-triangle)
delivers (in my case):
x10 100724 after unbrick w flashtool:
- baseband 1.0.16
- krnl 2.6.29-rel
- build R1FA016
*) Omnius:
* onmius method:
-> phone.zip goes into "application box".
-> android_xx.zip goes into customization.
*) ADB: is the Android Developer Bridge, a development tool for Android.
[not used myself (yet!), since developing hasn't started]
* [on your smartphone] To be able to use ADB, goto Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Enable USB debugging
* [for the PC] ADB drivers, Xperia X10:
http://rapidshare.com/files/373361083/X10_drivers.zip
(just point to the extraced folder during driver-installation)
*** PROVIDER RELATED: ***
*) APN Settings:
Go to Settings –> Wireless Controls –> Mobile Networks –> Auto Internet settings, to automatically detect your settings.
If this is disabled (for example if you are downloading branded firmware) then click on this Sony Ericsson page which will automatically send you the necessary settings.
http://www.sonyericsson.com/ota/wxhtml/otawizard
*) Backup APN settings before messing/flashing 'round:
* probably shown somewhere in the setting (i can't check right now).
* with <APN BAckup> app from android market.
=> Folder on sdcard: ApnBackupRestore
containing file: apns-<date><#>.xml
...lists all APN settings => so you can enter manually, if anything goes wrong!
I'll try keep this updated for a while...
Hope this will help some people...

UPDATED [GUIDE] E10i X10i Mini - Disable Updating Firmware -SOFTLOCK

EDIT: Ok, it seems that this guide is redundant as 2.0.A.0.24 can now be easily rooted!
Check out this post for more information: [APP] X10 MINI/MINI Pro 2.0.2.A.0.24 *ROOT* *TESTED*
However, the information on this page still stands true and can be modified so that you don't update after 2.0.A.0.24! (Your choice!)
Original Post:
I decided to post this after my Missus connected my phone to my PC to charge it and thought it would be a good idea to sit down and let it update... I realised just in the nick of time and stopped her, there was no way I wanted to let it update to an UN-ROOTABLE 2.0.A.0.24!!!
So here is my attempt of completely stopping the phone updating!!!
In the following guide, I use Root Explorer (Free version here) to modify the files on my device but you could just use Root Explorer to copy the files to your SD card, edit the files on your PC and then copy them back to where they were (You would need to reset R/W Permissions to rw-r--r--).
It is very simple:
Open Root Explorer and browse to your "/system/etc" directory.
There is a file called "default-capability.xml".
Open this by holding down on it and from the pop-up, scroll down and choose "Open in Text Editor" (Note: You need R/W privelages to do this).
At the very botton there is a section that looks like this:
<app>
<productnumber>$SW_NUM</productnumber>
<productrevision>$SW_REV</productrevision>
</app>
<filesystem>
<productnumber>$FS_NUM</productnumber>
<productrevision>$FS_REV</productrevision>
</filesystem>
Edit it and change the "$SW_REV" and "$FS_REV" in the following highlighted areas to:
<app>
<productnumber>$SW_NUM</productnumber>
<productrevision>9.0.2.A.0.504</productrevision>
</app>
<filesystem>
<productnumber>$FS_NUM</productnumber>
<productrevision>9.0.2.A.0.504</productrevision>
</filesystem>
Now save the file (A backup will be created automatically).
(This stops SE PC Companion from updating by telling it you have version 9.0.2.A.0.504 installed - So technically, it would stop the updates FOREVER - or until SE Release a higher version Firmware!)
Now reboot your phone.
To check if everything has gone correctly - Connect your phone to your PC.
I use PC Companion and when I try updating - It says "Your phone is up to date".
On your handset, when you choose Settings --> About Phone --> Software Update --> Update Now it reports "Your phone already has the latest software".
Using this method, you can stop the phone being updated by SE for as long as you like, just reverse the process to allow it to update
I'm not sure if this will work for everyone, but it did for me!
I am also not sure if it will work with SEUS, but if you are running that then you must WANT to update!
There is also the possibility that it will work on other devices but I have no others to test it on
If anybody wants, I can create custom installable packages to be used with XRecovery (Install Custom.zip option) and I have attached my own (Please Note: It has ONLY been tested on an E10i running 2.0.A.0.504 UPDATE: Tried and working on E10i 2.0.A.0.24 too!).
I apologise if anyone has posted this, But given the face of the new update from SE, it seems like a good option to do this modification until 2.0.A.0.24 can be easily rooted!
wrong thread.
the way in Xrecovery
hi there
if i do this by Xrecovery and how can i remove or cancel it?
maybe someother day would like to update the new vision.
thanks!
ohoh..ive tried install the disable upates by xrecovery way but it did not work...
maybe it's not suit to taiwan's x10 mini edition.

[Install Guide] Back to the Future [XBmod-Yuki] [7720 ready]

OK this is a Guide on how to Flash Xbmod & Yuki’s WP7 ROM (Mango 7720). It is not a replacement of the original thread simply an accompaniment, continue to use other thread to post issues and asks.
PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ /PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ / PLEASE READ
This sometimes causes offense- If you ask a question that has been answered here! You will not get an answer on the board–
If I link a thread visit the page and read the instructions and thank the person for taking the time and effort.
History
There are two ROM’s made by XBmod and Yuki (within a few days of releasing the ROM Yuki retired from XDA, may they RIP or be resurrected in the future) XBmod continues to build and offer solutions. But understand that you are indebted to them and others – for providing the ROM.
Concept
To build a WP7 ROM that can be updated by Zune when MS release updates and Also so that Dev’s or anyone can develop custom CAB’s to be sent to the device without the need to reflash or mess with the system…….
The ROM
Both are Unbranded i.e. Vanilla flavor i.e. No carrier branding and you have Root access.
There are two differences between V1 and V2 ROM’s
1. V1 - HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v1
a. Radio: 5.69.09.05a_22.50.50.21u
b. was an attempt to try and get he Sdcard working for other things but it failed, V1 remains for future development only
(Feedback from those testing V1 was that the Radio caused extreme battery drainage and the SD card created more issue than good, so V2 was born. V1 is left for others to play and possibly future development, to see if they can eventually get Dual boot to work – but it may never occur and quite frankly this ROM is so Stable & Pure and running on the best device ever, that you don’t need another OS)
2. V2 - HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native
a. Radio: 5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U
b. Formats the SD card like a native WP7 device
(Feedback about battery performance has been for most, positive with a few exceptions will attempt to build country table in Appendix)
Common Questions
Q. Which ROM should I use?
A. Use the V2 ROM for obvious reasons.
Note: When you flash you will LOSE ALL DATA from your SD card, so if you need it - back it up! Also some SD cards present issues so be warned not all work…..
Make sure it’s a SD card that works and is supported, otherwise you could face frequent reboots / freezes / restarts / loops. SandDisk seems to be the best so far try to use class 4, you can use, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and even 32GB
Q. Can I Dual boot and Run Android?
A. Yes. XBmod has released a CAB that can be used to unlock the SDCard for Dual boot.
Q. I’ve installed V1 should I move to V2?
A. that’s up to you, but the general consensus is Yes move to V2
Q. I’m on V1 do I need to Start right from the beginning – re-run the whole Process?
A. Update oriignally yes, but we have a report that someone has gone straight from V1 to V2 without going back to stock rom (WM6.5) by simply flashing V2 on top of V1. No reported problems. So, it's up to you...
Q. Do I need to change the HTC HD2 name in about to HD7
A. No the HTC HD2 is just afriendly name, it wont and can't cause any problems anywhere. The phone is registred as an HTC Schubert (HD7)
RADIO:There are two Radios:
The first which you install during the initial set-up and another which is Baked into the ROM. Some folk who want to play and experiment will want to change the Radio in the ROM – you can do this and more about that in the Appendix:
UPDATEL: XBmod is working on a CAB to change the Radio in the ROM, thus in the future you will be able to send the CAB and change the Radio.
What do I need?
HD2 unlocked and a WP7 Activation key (search the forum)
Hard SPL v 2.08 or higher
I used HSPL4 and selected HSPL2.08.
WP7 doesn’t support HSPL3.03/OSPL3.03. You need to select HSPL2.08 to run WP7 & MAGLDR.
Radio which supports 576 RAM. (Radio 2.15.50...)
I used Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**:
Magldr1.13
Windows Mobile 6.5 Stock ROM
I used World Wide English (WWE) 3.14.405.2
Zune Download and Install the lastest version of the client.
WP7 Update Cab Sender
Download and extract to a folder on your PC, this will be the tool used to send custom packages (CAB) to the device and offer backup and restore features:

The V2 ROM HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native
Extract to a folder
DeviceProvisioning.cab
To be placed into “WP7 Update Cab Sender folder” later. Do not Extract!!
UPDATE: XBmod has released a new SDCARD UNLOCK TOOL. You are now able to Read and Andriod PARTITION and UNLOCK all your locked Cards.
Custom and Special CAB's:
DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab (this will install the unlock tool for your sd card (providing the possibility of dualboot))
DEV_STORAGELOCK_REMOVE.CAB (as always a second CAB removing the above function "unlock tool" Warning your SDCard will be relocked at reboot resulting is dataloss.)
The Install Procedure
Note: should you be familiar with custom ROM's and have following already installed on your device:
A) hard spl
B) magldr 1.3
C) the correct Radio!
D) then proceed directly to Section 7 and follow instructions "restart your phone and get into magldr menu by pressing and holding the red button then follow steps from Section 7. If you do not have the above installled, proceed from the Step 1 . Thanks to bryangopan

Radio:
There are 2 different Radios:
Radios that you can flash using HardSPL:
For installing a RADIO ROM you need to use HardSPL on your device: it won't hardreset your device.
Changing the Radio in the ROM
UPDATE: XBmod is working on a CAB to change the Radio in the ROM, thus in the future you will be able to send the CAB and change the Radio.
At present use the instructions below.
To use a different Software Radio you need to change the Part00.bin in the 7004 Data.zip and start the process to 7720 all over again... As for the regular HD2 radio we can continue to flash away
Steps:
Download the radio you want to use
You'll get a part00.bin file
In the V1 or V2 ROM you can find a data.zip file
Replace in data.zip the part00.bin with the one you downloaded
Go through the usual process of installing the ROM
For EU Leo users who want to try 5.51 (without the t) see this post by LittleH79 .
Simple guide to replace the radio:
- Download 7zip from the web and install it.
- Download V2 rom.
- Download my radio attached.
- Extract attached radio to a folder (inside is part00.bin)
- Extract V2 rom to a folder
- Go to the extracted rom folder.
- In there you'll find Data.zip
- Open this folder with 7zip.
- Open the folder where you saved my attached radio (part00.bin)
- Simply drag file part00.bin inside 7zip window
- Wait a few moment and you're done
- Just to be sure, if it went well you'll see that file part00.bin has 2 dates changed
The Radio I’m sure will become a topic in its own right! what you have to remember is that there is no right or wrong Radio, it’s all about how close you are to a tower, Signal strength, country etc etc etc, right now to change the ROM radio you need to flash, hopefully someone can figure out how we can flash it without needing to Flash the ROM, perhaps a CAB.....
RADIO TABLE (need Data from folk for this)
SIM lockedIf you have SIM locked device from your mobile provider, before you upgrade to WP7 you must unlock the device (if you want SIM lock free). unlocking not working under WP7. For unlocking you must have unlock code... in most case, you must buy this code from any trusted GSM unlock site) or contact your carrier and ask them for an unlock code, typically they will give you one.
Thanks to dxdy
SD cards and unlocking them.
Once WP7 formats your SDcard, your computer won't read them since WP7 locked them this is part of the security feature built into WP7.
But if you need to, you can format the cards in certain devices, you should use one of thre following reported methods
Nokia N or E series
Nokia Phone
Nokia Symbian OS phone
PDA like 5250
N95
Canon camera
Nikon Camera
If you don’t have one of the above and rather than buying a new SD card, borrow one from a freind, or even go to a store and ask the store guy, and ask him if its ok that they let you use one to do it.
HTML 5
Is working.
This looks fantastic! I was having problems and just about to give up and go back to my previous rom, but this has given me a few areas where i could have gone wrong!
The installation instructions with the rom were sketch at most, so this is a great addition to yuki and XBmod's brilliant work!
I hope it's ok I post here...
I'm only a bit wary about doing this, because I don't have a serial to activate WP7.
Plus, I'd like to know if it's possible to have Portuguese(Portugal) as the display language, and how to do that...
Also, I got a 4GB, class 4, sd card from Kingston.
How do I know if it is compatible?
Can you help?
Ok, now I believe I could flash that ROM. All other explanations were written mostly for the authors. Thank you very much!!

A. Yes you do.

I went from v1 to v2 without going back to stock rom (6.5) but just flashing v2 on top of v1. Not had a single problem. So, it's up to you...
Edit: Nice tutorial!

Its not really okay for you to post a question on the front page, in the development section, but since you have now, i will answer your question, maybe it will add to the guide.
Unfortunatley i do not know about the language, but if you have look around the forums, you will easily find out that its not possible for anyone to say for sure whether your sd card will work, even when a card of the same spec works. So its purely luck. Try and flash Yuki's rooted rom on the developement section of this forum first, to determine whether your card works, then move onto this.
As for the activation code, you will only be asked for this when connecting to the marketplace.
I was able to get mine by phoning up, however some people have been unsuccessfull in doing this now, but its always worth a try. Then you code can be used multiple times, so if you flash over your rom, you can re-enter it again in a clear rom fairly easily, as long as you keep the same XBOX LIVE ID and dont change too often.
only small tip

for unlocking you must have unlock code... in most case, you must buy this code from any trusted GSM unlock site (unlock-now for example... very fast and good support)

I replied on the main board
Unfortunatley this guide hasnt worked for me.
During the stage of updating to 7008, on step 8, restarting your phone, the phone re-boots and locks up, i cannot move anything on the phone, and the installation will go no furrther.
Any ideas as to what this could be?
I cannot format my memory card again after applying the magldr services sub options (24mb thing and the other) so its basically dead to the computer, even through USB mass storage mode on MAGLDR.
Any ideas people? i flash 6.5 previous too with 2.15 rom. Left software radios the same, tried english us and uk when setting up phone for first time, neither worked.

Has anyone had any success getting the "Fusion" rooted/rom'd?
Thanks

U8652 Root
This will get you a Partial root.. Enough to Remove a Majority of the Pre-Loaded apps.. Thanks to a Chinese site for the info..
Only a few items that are pre-loaded that I was unable to remove via Titanium backup/other s/w methods:
Docs to go 3.003
Layar 5.0.2
Twitter 2.0.2
Uno 3.1.3
YP 3.0.3
All the above have : "Failed to locate the apk file." error in TB..
I will be Including the original link in the post.. I have cleaned up the English Translation to match more what you see on the phone as well..
(1) Activate "USB debugging": Settings - Applications - Development - USB debugging;
(2) ADB driver installed: When I plug this phone in to my computer, It has drivers listed in a virtual cd-rom drive.
(3) Dial, *#*#2846579#*#*
(4) Go to: Project Menu - background Setting - Log Switch - LOG on;
(5) Download DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su, extract.
(6) Connect the phone to computer, make sure ADB is active and driver installed.
(7) Execute runme.bat, follow the prompts, Phone will auto restart.
I did have to run it a 2nd time to get a successful Root, but it worked well (Except the above isues) I also had a wireless issue after successfully completing the above ..
Couldn't connect to any WiFi networks.. Performed a Factory reset, and all uninstalled apps remained removed.

If replying to this post, do not quote. It will make the thread look ridiculous.
Read this Walkthrough from start to end 3 times befor you start the process.
Make sure, you understand all the steps and what they do.
First of all make sure, that you got a Xperia X10 Mini Pro (X10MP).
Tap Settings, scroll to the buttom and tap About phone, again scroll to the buttom and compare with the screen shot below.
Step 1 - Activate USB debugging
Why this step: It's necessary for the tools to comunicate with the X10MP.
Tap Settings > Applications > Development. Check USB debugging. Tap OK in the popup box.
Step 2 - Unlock bootloader
BEFORE YOU EVEN TRY ANYTHING, TAKE OUT YOUR BATTERY COVER, TAKE OUT YOUR BATTERY, AND CHECK YOUR MANUFACTORING DATE. IF IT IS 11W29 (year 2011, week 29) OR ABOVE, DO NOT TRY THIS AS IT WILL HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE.
Model number and manufactoring dato: http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums...ini Pro/Model-production-date_zps12a8eebc.png
All over XDA you can read, that this is irreversible. Well, I have managed to relock my bootloader plenty of times. See at the end of this Walkthrough.
Download and install Sony PC Companion http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
Start Sony PC Companion and connect your X10MP to the PC with the USB cabla. Make sure, that Sony PC Companion recognizes the X10MP.
Why this step? Along with Sony PC Companion comes some USB driver files, that we need to comunicate with the X10MP. Alternatively download and install Gordons Gate driver (attached at the end of this post)
Disconnect your X10MP again and close Sony PC Companion.
Turn off the X10MP.
Download S1 Tool, unzip and start S1 Tool (attached at the end of this post).
Click IDENTIFY.
Press and hold the Back key while connecting the X10MP to the PC with the USB cable.
S1 Tool will read informations from the X10MP, and list them in the log-window.
Look carefully at the screenshot above and compare to your own result.
At the buttom, just before the Elapsed:xx secs. you will see an important result.
It has 3 possibilities:
- NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE
- SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE
- (The line is missing)
If you get the line NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE, you can stop here and go outside and play. It's not possible to unlock your X10MP.
Disconnect the X10MP and turn it on.
Connect the X10MP to the PC with the USB cable. Tap Charge phone
Download msm7227 (attached at the end of this post).
Unzip and open the folder. Look at the files in the folder.
DON'T START THE WRONG SCRIPT
DON'T START THE WRONG SCRIPT
DON'T START THE WRONG SCRIPT
If the result above was SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE, click on msm7227_semc.cmd.
If the line was missing, click on msm7227_setool2.cmd.
DON'T START THE WRONG SCRIPT
DON'T START THE WRONG SCRIPT
DON'T START THE WRONG SCRIPT
The script will start a command-prompt. Just follow the instructions.
The X10MP will restart under the process. Don't touch anything before it has ended.
After it has finished, disconnect the X10MP and turn if off.
Start S1 Tool again and click IDENTIFY.
Press and hold the Back key while connecting the X10MP to the PC with the USB cable.
S1 Tool will read informations from the X10MP, and list them in the log-window.
In the middle the log shows the EROM version.
If the version nr. starts with a small "r", your bootloader is unlocked.
If it starts with a capital "R", something went wrong. Try again.
Step 3 - Root and backup
Download and install SuperOneClick http://shortfuse.org/
Connect the X10MP to the PC with the USB cable. Celect Charge phone.
Start SuperOneClick and click on Root. Follow instructions. If asked about your Android version is above 2.x, click Yes. Also click Yes to install Busybox.
When finished, turn off the X10MP, and then turn it on again.
Tap Market and search for "My Backup", select My Backup Root and install the app.
Start the app and allow the superuser request, and agree to some license etc.
Tap BACKUP > Data > Local.
Check the data you want to backup and tap OK. Remember the contactlist you are an off-line person that do not sync to a Google account (now is the time to reconsider to sync it to Google).
Give the backup a name and tap OK, sit back and wait.
Did you use the Notes app, and do wish to keep those notes?
Start Market and search for GTasks and install the app.
When installed, start Notes app. Tap on a note you wish to keep. Longtap on the note (put your finger on the screen and hold it), select Copy all in the popup menu.
Exit Notes and start GTasks. Tap on the plus to add a new task. Longtap in the text field and select Paste in the popup menu, and then tap on Done.
Exit GTasks and repeat for all your notes. When finished, tap Syncronize in GTasks.
All your kopied notes are now available in Google Tasks, and are accessible from any app that accesses the Google Tasks.
If you are an offline-person who don't want to sync online, I can recoment Just Notepad for Android to save all your Notes as simple txt-files. Just follow the copy-paste-instruction from above. Tap the small SD-card icon to save each note as a normal txt-file on the SD-card.
Step 4 - Copy Semc Debrand Engine ROM to SD-card and backup entire SD-card to PC
Connect the X10MP to the PC with the USB cable. Celect Connect your phone.
First copy everything on the SD-card to your PC.
Next, download Semc Debrand Engine (if not done already) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504637
And then copy the ROM to the SD-card. I have a folder called ROMs. Inside each ROM has it's own folder.
Just for the sake, that any future versions of the ROM does not contain Google apps (Google Play/Market), here is the link for the latest.

For Gingerbread ROM, download CyanogenMod 7. Google apps are installed the same way as the ROM. Google apps for CyanogenMod 7 contains Google Play and Pacman; an app which asks the user to select which Google Apps should be downloaded and installed from the Market.
When finished, disconnect the X10MP and turn it off.

Step 5 - Install nAa kernel 1.4 or above
Download and install Flashtool http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download nAa kernel for Gingerbread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415012
Unzip the kernel ftf-file to Flashtool's firmwarefolder. Most likely C:\Flashtool\firmwares.
Start Flashtool and click the lightning.
Select Flashmode in the popup and click OK.
Select nAa-14 kernel and click OK.
NEVER NEVER EVER FLASH x10blrelock.ftf. IT CAN HARDBRICK YOUR PHONE. DELETE THAT FTF FILE TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL FLASH!
Follow the instructions.
Flashtool starts, and shows the progress in the log window.
When finished, the phone will not reboot. Just disconnect the X10MP.
Step 6 - Install Semc Debrand Engine ROM
Turn the X10MP on. Press repeatedly on the back key when nAa kernel logo shows.
Shortly after CWM Recovery starts.
You navigate op and down with the sound volume buttons on the side of the X10MP, select an itim with the start-buttom (the middle button), and goes back in the menu-system with the back button.
Before you do anything, it might be a good idear to do a nandroid. A nandroid is a backup of the full operatingsystem incl. apps, user data etc. With this backup, it's more easy to return to the old state if you should regret. (i'll cover this later below)
Select backup and restore > backup, wait for the backup to finish.
Before install of to ROM wipe data/factory reset, and then wipe cache partition.
Go down to advanced > wipe Dalvik Cache and then wipe Battery Stats.
From root-menu select install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > navigate to the ROM-file.
Select the ROM and sit back. When the process reaches symlink busybox, it might look like it has frosen. Just wait. After it has finished, select reboot system now.
Soon after you will see the Experia boot-logo. First (and most likely also second) startup can take ~2 min. Just wait.
Step 7 - Restore data
If you have your contacts synced to a Google account, tap Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account > Google > Next > Sign in. Wait for your account to sync the contactlist and calandar.
If you are an off-line person, and backed up your contacts etc. using My Backup Root or backed up call log, SMS and MMS, tap Market (and log into your Google acount) and search for "My Backup", select My Backup Root and install the app.
Start the app and allow the superuser request, and agree to some license etc. Tap BACKUP > Data > Local.
Select the data file, and check the data to restore. Sit back and wait.
!!! Do not restore contacts if you also restored from your Google Account !!!

Step 8 - Partition and APPS2SD/Link2SD
I have tried to make the ROM mount a secondary EXT partition but with no luck.
Yes, mount scripts do mount the partition, but the ROM won't use it as a part of it's internal storage.
Every time i move an app to SD, it use generic app2sd (and not the secondary partition).
Link2SD will be able to make symlinks to the secondary partition, but this will not work for most apps.
Swap-partition is not supported by nAa 1.4 kernel. In fact no kernels i know of support Swap-partition.
Conclusion: Do not partition the SD-card.
Hardware keyboard
There is a problem with the hardware keyboard and symbols/blue-key. At the moment there is now fix.
Special national characters like ÆØÅÑÄÖÊ can be accessed by long-pressing any normal variant of that character, just like ot works on the software keyboard.
The screen shoot to the left show what happens when long-tapping the letter A on the SW-keyboard. To the right shows what happens when long pressing the letter A on the HW-keyboard. The same goes for almost any other letter.
Numbers? Well... i know they are on the top row with blue-key.
Fixing the keyboard LED light can be done using kFix 2.3 (free) - Keyboard LED lights like on Stock ROMs.
Notice: You might have to turn it on everytime you need LED lights in the keyboard.

Unbrick-tips
Problem/unable to connect to mobile network
Most likely bootloader is unlocked using the wrong script. Relock bootloader using S1 Tool, jusk click on the RESTORE button. NEVER NEVER NEVER relock the bootloader while a costom kernel is installed! Do a phone repair (the method where you connect the phone turned off holding the back-key after selecting the model) using Sony PC Companion before restore bootloader http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/. Se TUT here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17458289&postcount=8. Don't wory, that the phone won't work after the phone repair, after bootloader restor, all is good again.
Bootloop/FC
Most likely you have partitioned your SD-card, and the ROM is not good with that. Remove partition, both EXT and SWAP.
Most likely you did not do af factory reset before/after installing the custom ROM. Do a factory reset from CWM.
The ROM might be build for another device. Do a phone repair (the method where you connect the phone turned off after selecting the model) using Sony PC Companion (the method where you connect the phone turned off holding the back-key after selecting the model). Se TUT here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17458289&postcount=8.

What if you don't copy the rom zip to the sd card prior to flashing the new Kernel? do I still need to copy google apps?

I'm not sure if stock ROM will start up on nAa14 kernel. And then it's gonna be difficult to copy the ROM to the SD-card.
Google apps: If market is not included in the ROM (let it start up and wait and see), it not that usefull for dayli use.
Edit: I will update the Guide with a link to newest Google apps (just for the sake of it).
When are you planning on adding: Step 7 - Restore data
... comming soon ...
Step 8 - Partition and APPS2SD/Link2SD
... comming soon ...
I 'm wondering if my SD card mounting problem has something to do with not restoring the data.
thnx
u're deserve it
ilmling particplar
or you can just
1. root with SuperOneClick
2. flash Semc Debrand Engine with nAa-14 kernel via Flash tool

Your sarcasm is funny, but he's got a point, since Achotjan released SEMC Debrand engine in one flashable package, and not the usual ROM.zip installable via CWM. He only forgot to mention to unlock the bootloader.
You may have to rewrite your guide a bit

Problem with camera

Hello all! :victory:
Until now, the problems with the camera. Writes "Unknown error" and everything on it. What I've tried:
1. Formatted the memory card and ran the camera - 0 Effect
2. Folder of photos renamed to exclude tables in your gallery
3. Flash 2.1 and to follow the instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12061644 , the program copies all the files on the sdcard, then as I understand it fills them somewhere, and then writes the device: not found, many many lines, the phone restarts and the camera icon does not appear in the download mode.
4. Flash 1.6. camera works without mistakes (2.1 almost no mistakes, yet there are such errors, we have to restart the phone)
5. To the point decided to install ADB, thought due to the fact that it is not - will not install.
6. Disassemble the unit disconnects the camera and connected - the effect of zero
7. Blocked the bootloader by hand and updated through SEUS Pro, also for 0
+
8. I copy files manually and run init.es209ra.rc. - don't working =(
But there is a joke - a third-party application photographs, but does not remove. Yesterday needed a short video ... epic. Help please) has long been tormented with it, since 2012. The new module is not offered, it is necessary to finish off the old, if he does not come out - then buy, where to go...
