I just bought X10i last week, and its software version shown R2BA020. I saw someone had upgrade to 026, and announced speed become speedy.
my question is how to upgrade my X10i to R2BA024 ? to root my R2BA020 or directly replace to R2BA024 ?
currently I only found one package can upgrade from 024->026. maybe someone will release package (020->026)
I want to know too, ive the same problem ^^

Have you tried using SEUS to try and get R2BA026? Then to get root just follow the info here

Follow the steps and you phone will be rooted with your current firmware. It works on X10.

The instructions are fine mate. I'm no developer by any means, but i'ved managed to make 3 updates following different instructions. Just follow them word for word and dont rush it.
I agree with above, the procedure is very simple and atm you cannot upgrade past 1.6
Hi, to upgrade your build (Settings > About Phone > Build Number) R2BA026 being the latest, just download SEUS and follow instructions and you will have the latest official build and then to root, download Universal AndRoot from the market, click on root and you are done....
To change from 1.6 to 2.1 you'll have to wait (hopefully) a few weeks...
i have build number 2.0.2.A.0.24 with other words the latest update on my mobile however is there any way to downgrade it or root it?

Downgrade with X10 Flasher from b4nary and root with zdzihu prerooted 2.02.A.0.24 for Xrecovery. Search Forum and you will find how to do it.
Flash with THIS, install THIS, then THIS, and you'll have an up to date and rooted X10.
Anyway, you can root stock .24 firmware now without flashing to the pre-rooted version.

You may be new to XDA but at least you posted your question in the right place. A lot of XDAers who behave and sound like they know what they are doing, don't even follow this rule. So don't worry!
Basically there are 2 ways to upgrade to 2.3.3. One is (1) to upgrade through PC Companion, and the other is (2) to flash pre-rooted version of the ROM.
If you have never used a flashtool or never flashed a ROM before, you should probably go the route (1). All you have to do is to install the PC Companion and connect your X10i to the PC. But you have to wait until an update becomes available for your version of installed 2.1 firmware. Here is something you should take a look at. If you happen to be in the legion where no official 2.3.3 is unavailable now, you may still be able to upgrade anyway if you know how to edit build.prop.
Going through the route (2) is a little more complex than (1) but if you read this or/and this carefully it shouldn't be that difficult.

I am on rogers here in Canada, and we did not recieve the 2.3 update for my branded x10i.
I wanted to manually update to 2.3, and was wondering if I can do that.
Can i just download the Generic version 2.3.3 build 3.0.1.G.0.75 from:

(which says its meant for unbranded x10i's) and use it on my branded x10i from rogers and follow the instructions to root and install? Would it work? Or what are the procedures?
I ultimately want stock 2.3 rooted for my phone.

then flash it
