[Q] Any way to increase the touch like they did with the Liquid? - XPERIA X10 Android Development

Hiya!
Is there any way to increase the touch sensitivity with our X10 like they did with the Acer Liquid? Any softmod out there?
Code:
Liquid's touch screen sensitivity is to low to me, even set to high.
After the phone was rooted, I did a `find /sys | grep sensitivity` and found something.
Here we go:
CODE
#!/system/bin/sh
sensitivity=25
noise=25
echo "set sensitivity to $sensitivity"
echo $sensitivity > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-005c/sensitivity
echo "set noise to $noise"
echo $noise > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-005c/noise
echo "done"
/Richard

Does it need it? With the thick plastic protector that comes preapplied took off mine is over sensitive if anything

It would be great if we can increase the sensitivity.
Yes the X10 has good sensitivity but not as good as the iphone's sensitivity.

I would dare to say with the currently latest (026) ROM sensitivity of touch screen increased a bit on mine. It is far away from my Milestone for example, but I feel improvement. I am sure the pre-applied screen protector (that seems quite thick) plays some role with sensitivity. But I am not taking mine off just yet..
What ROM you are on btw?

these options don't seem to be implemented in the kernel

Confirmed. There is no way to adjust it now.

Just take that plastic (Plexiglas) off your screen and if you must buy good screen protector.

Remove the plastic protector that comes with the phone and buy a Skinomi

Just got a liquid and the screen responsiveness is much better on the x10 with no screen protector than the liquid regardless of how sensitive u set it. Unfortunately the ui does kick the x10's ass.

[Review] DC Mugen Privacy screen protector

I just wanted to let you know NOT to buy the new Touch HD privacy screen protectors.
They seem very good "on paper", however in reality it's a major disappointment. The privacy screen protector should reduce the viewing angle of your screen, making sure that people sitting next to you can't see the screen. This feature does in fact work up to a certain point, but the problem is that this screen protector reduces display quality so badly I consider it unusable.
Basically, the entire screen get's a very harsh rainbow color effect and some strange wavy lines that make your screen look like a 1995. CRT screen.
So, in short - avoid it.
I had a mirror screen protector turn up with a case I bought.
Applied it fine, then got the green and pink lines when looking through it, it actually became more clear the larger the angle I looked at it from!
The protector scratched really easily too, tried changing backlight brightness by dragging and I got a nice scratch. I wasn't pushing hard.
Nice idea, poor implementation.
I was thinking about getting something like that. How about some pictures? lol.
If it looks alright, I might swing for it from some other manufacturer because my friend has one on his iPhone and it's perfect.
I threw the protector away 5 minutes after trying it out. It's THAT bad.
As far as the iPhone goes, it's possible that it's not the same manufacturer. Also, it would seem that extremely high pixel density of Touch HD's screen could be linked to the way display get's messed up with rainbow effect.

Default Screen Protector and Glass Screen

Hello
I am right now using the default screen protector that came with the phone and was wondering to to remove it to increse the screen sensitivity
I searched the forum to check it but could find a convincing answer.
So
1. If I remove the pre-applied screen protector will it increse the touch sensitivity (Basic touch and scrolling)
Tried to change the build.prop to increase the windowmgr thing, but it just made scrolling smooth and not the touch.
2. Can the Glass alone hold daily use and resist scratches
Would really apprecite any help
and Moderators if this is a repost please delete it and direct me to the useful thread.
I've got two on and never had any issues.

There is almost a thread on every page about them in the accessories section.
Well my default screen guard works like a charm

[Q] Change sensitivity of proximity sensor

Is there any way to change the sensitivity of the proximity sensor. It seems every screen protector I try makes the screen turn off when in a call even without anything near the sensor. I had to cut one of the screen protectors to get around it (but had messed up a corner when applying so I replaced it)
Or is there a way to completely disable it so I just have to hit the power button when in a call to manually turn the screen on or off.
+1
Dont have the same problem but would be helpful.
There is a distance setting in the build.prop file. You could try adjusting that and seeing if that helps.

Perfect. Changed the value (increased it from default of 60) and its working great now. Thanks for that tip.

Well after further testing seems that it didn't fix the problem. Seemed to work when I first made the changes but now the screen is stroll turning off and no matter what I change the value to I can't get the proximity sensor to work right.

According to the official Atrix manual -
http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles...s/StaticFiles/Atrix_US-EN_UG_68014798001B.pdf
Note: Your touchscreen might
stay dark if the sensor just
above it is covered. Don't use
covers or screen protectors (even clear ones) that
cover this sensor. To find Motorola accessories for

Anyway, why do you guys keep using the screen protectors with this gorilla glass phones? I have carried Moto Milestone in my pocket for a year and D2G for 3 months and there are no scratches on them whatsoever.
I use them on every phone I get because although it is gorilla glass it can still get scratches under the right conditions and I for one do not want my $400+ phone to have a scratch on the screen. Never had a phone that had issues like this with screen protectors and the proximity sensor. Multiple iPhones, Dell streak, nexus one, droid, galaxy s. I've tried two different screen protectors with the atria and both have this issue.
I'm having issues with my proximity sensor too, but it seems that I can't make it turn off the screen when I'm talking. I'm not using any screen protector but I do have a case. It was working fine till a week ago but now I just have to block the phone every time I get a call.
The only difference is that I've installed 2 new games, maybe those are affecting the sensor?
Another thing that isn't working anymore is the auto brightness that's always set to minimum, no matter the light conditions. The phone is online for 260+ hours already (had it go to 500+ before but had to turn it off to add a micro sd card, just to be sure it would find it).

Ugh... thing is if you drop your phone, it could crack both with screen protector and without one. If you grind the screen against your keys, it will get scratched through the protective film.
If you use it normally - the chance of scratching it really small. Just my 2 cents.

My wife's phone had a screen protector on and got scratched by being in her purse. The actual screen though had no marks. The screen protectors help. Obviously each incident is different but they can help prevent some damage so in my opinion they are worth it.

Hi there,
Got the same trouble..... but I just noticed it work fine at the sun (outdoor)..... turn the screen off in the shadow..... and switch on in the sun....
so I think a light adjustment has to be done.... but where ?...

Mini Pro 2, 3 day bullet review...

Here's my basic bullet review.
I've had the Xperia mini pro 2 for a few days and want to share my initial opinions. All the good and bad in one short list.
Pros:
1: Size: What I was waiting for in a smart phone, I really dreaded the idea of carrying around a large phone on my belt.
This phone allows me to keep it tucked away in my pocket.
2: Quality: General build quality is pretty good. The slide out tray is solid and secure. The keys feel like they can stand the test of time. I only wish the exterior wasn't plasticy, maybe 3rd party can step in to provide a more robust feel.
3: Decent ergonomics: Some complain about them, but given the size of this thing I think they're great. Ergonomically, for anyone planning to do a significant amount of typing, a keyboard is a must. Having a keyboard with a device of this size is what convinced it could be usable as well as compact. I'm not a fan of the buzzing feedback on a touch screen, as far as I'm concerned it's just a waste of battery power. I do like the rubberized exterior, it helps keep a grip on the phone.
4: Features.
+ 5MP Camera works pretty well, not too slow. Dedicated shutter button.
+ 720p video, very nice, not perfect but better than the less than idea video formats of most cell phones.
+ Slideout keyboard.
5: Decent free apps.: Not sure how many other androids provide free apps, but the Moxier and Office Suite are nice to have for a professional who is dependent on e-mail.
6: Speed/hardware: The thing is just snappy, no significant lag. Great choice of hardware, it uses the same video chip designed to drive a higher resolution screen, resulting in silky smooth graphics.
7: Hotspot/Tether options. This is really great, don't need a dedicated hotspot device.
Cons:
1: Battery life: Yeah, there are things you can do to improve, but wish an option for a nice extended well designed one was available.
2: Flickering screen: Annoying and disappointing coming from Sony, noticeable when the screen brightness is low. Using a light sensor app to turn off the light sensor function may help.
3: Sub par camera sensor: Low light photo/video suffers
4: Case protection: Would be nice to add a rubber bumper around the screen. Maybe a 3rd party will provide a nice case for us, I dread the day I drop it.
5: Video buzz: Gratefully I haven't had this issue, but many owners having it is a cause for concern. The more happy users the better chance they'll make more accessories.
6: A bit fat: The price you pay for the keyboard.
Time will be the true test for this device, but ATM I'm happy with my Android choice.

Neat review, sums up my thoughts excatly. Except maybe the screen flickering, I don't get that?

The flickering is not a very high level of flickering, it's a subtle looks like the screen is dimming flicker. Flicker may not be the right way to describe it, it's more like the screen has difficulty keeping a consistent level of white.
I normally don't notice it unless I'm looking at a mostly white screen. Also, I have my phone set to less than 50% brightness to save on battery. When the screen is at a higher brightness, the flicker goes away. I'll have to observe this more over time.
Another Con I forgot to include is the tactile response/buzz you get from the back and menu soft keys. of all the buttons, these are probably the ones that need this feedback the least. They should've included an option to turn off the buzz.
Mike
You can actually turn it off. Goto settings > sound > haptic feedback. Although it will turn off the vibrating for all phone interactions.
Thanks, I thought I had turned that off. I'll have to make another revision.
Regards,
Mike

New mate 20 Pro help please?

Hi guys. Purchased earlier. Seems a great handset for what would have been my first Android
coming from Apple. However, the colours of the screen compared to iPhone seem too much for me, pictures look completely different, way too much contrast & saturation regardless of settings, dimmer too. The only time a picture looks half natural is if you open one right up from gallery so it’s against the black background, why does the picture then go lighter and less saturated?!
Raise to wake barely ever works either. All else seemed fine but the above are offputting so far.
Any feedback or advice much appreciated!
Try going to Settings > Display > Colour & Eye Comfort ? Colour mode & Temperature. Mate 20 Pros are usually set to Vivid colours by default. Try changing it to Normal and see if that works for you. (It's how I have mine.)
Not hand a problem with raise to wake myself. Might be worth double-checking the settings under Smart assistance > Motion control > Pick up
Thanks Gondrah, have tried eye comfort and all other settings along with pick up but no joy unfortunately. What screen protector is working for you, if any?
I'm not using one. I had one of the tempered glass ones which apply with the glue you seal using a UV light but it peeled off when the phone got a bit damp and hot. Haven't bothered trying to find an alternative yet.
Just looked at my phone and thought "wow, that's over saturated" - had accidentally turned on Vivid while checking
I found Normal to be okay but it s still quite saturated. What screen have you got? An LG or BOE?
You’re a brave man, OCD will see me wrapping it in cling film if I can find anything decent soon!
Glad I’m not the only one to see the saturation, seems most Androids are a lot richer than iPhones though, yes think cold or normal best but find it odd how images look much better once opened fully in gallery. Have the BOE screen, not sure if that’s good or not.
