Different sound quality by the way you root your fone - XPERIA X10 Android Development

I find out that if you use the normal root step (2-3 steps), the sound quality, especially music quality when listening by ear phone is worse than the new root method.
I tested with my senheiser CX500 and feel the bass is much deeper in the fone which root by 1 step rooting.

hi
there are 2 new root methods, which one you refer to?

I can confirm this after changing my phone over a few times to test. The Exploid method with the latest Rxxxx26 rom gives me the loudest in call/media volume, period. I tried the old 14, 16, 20 and 24 and the 26 comes out on top each time. Took a while to test (had my wife confirm) and the exploid is louder, by at least 30%.
I'm hard of hearing in my right ear (artillery simulator went off beside me back in my infantry days) and I could have a conversation with the Rxxx26 installed with Exploid.

That's right, not only louder but also more bass when you listen to music

So i guess iam not crazy

I can confirm this as well.

Confirm, incall volume is louder now (with firmware 026), it does sound very clear though, weird...
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

So there are ways to make it louder... Someone should look into it. I dont want to root my phone again... Can anyone confirm if its the V26 thats helping or the root method?

i would also like to kno if its the root method or the firmware...im curently rooted 026, and in call volume still sucks, ive applied the apk root but i was already rooted with bin4ry method so dunno if it has to be on a fresh 026 flash,?
sent via my rogers x10a rooted 026 & xda app!

It is not because of your FW version dude, it it because of the way you root your fone
I can confirm that the music volume and music quality is better if you use Expoild method, but the in-call volume is same

My phone is currently rooted via the original method. So if I just use the exploid root package to reflash with the 026 firmware it should give me better music quality? I hope so. I moved from an iPhone 3G to this phone and love it more in every way except for the sound quality. My same 120 dollar over the ear headphones sound like 10 dollar ear buds through this thing.
Mixzing has helped with its built in EQ but if this helps any more i'm gonna try it.

Give it a try,

OK so I reflashed 026 and used this root method. In call sounds the same and I have yet to try music..

Music may be a touch louder but not a definite amount. Could be placebo...LOL

ok so does anyone have any sound testing equipment that could check the decible level ? itd be nice to know if there was a real diff or not before going to the trouble of flashing and re-rooting.

yes, i can feel the different from both methods. Exploid is much better

Re-flashed and used the Exploid method. Can't say I notice an improvement. I thought I did, but yeah ptesmoke said, could just be the placebo effect

i can confirm exploid method is sounds higher in mediascape

Are you on XWKE2?
Its driving me nuts seeing this topic repeatedly posted with no real answer if all owners experience it, or if the volume codes fix the issue.
I have the same volume issues with headphones connected and answering calls... can barely hear anything while on subway etc...
Hopefully the voodoo sound feature will be ported to SGS II soon...

yes, anytime I am in a mall or anywhere will back ground wind... it is very hard to hear the other person....
on a side not, kies keeps telling me there is an update available... each time I run it, I get some dll error... hence me browsing the forums right now!
Is this a third firmware update?
I have the same issue. Can't hear anything with headphones and without them the sound is very muffled, as if there is no treble. My N95 could go so loud that it hurt!
I'm on XWKE2. Any suggestions?

Hi, this is my first post. I have similar issue. I have no problem in a room with low noise but when I'm outside or in a noisy room I barely hear the voice.
if the problem only with headphones then try using Voodoo Louder from the android market. that worked for me. i never had any problem with the headset volume on my sgs2.

My phone is unlocked[T- mobile galaxy s 2], I Have tried every GSM carrier[att pre paid, t- mobile pre paid,h20, Simple mobile, Real att, real t- mobile. (by real I mean contract) , Thought was network issues. It wasn't. Well, I gave up. Called Samsung and shipped my phone for repair. They were quick. from shipment to repair took less than own week and half. UPS second day ship and UPS second receive that four days plus three days repair. Well, the issue is gone!. They fixed the problem. What they did was raise all the sound volume Bars by default to 100 percent. I can tell this by going via volume settings. Now I'm scared of trying Any Rom coz I don't want to lose this settings. My phone was shipped back with original stock rom. Unrooted. Just rooted back. that's how far I'm willing to go , But then again ICS rom is spitting distance based on the news on my hears. don't know what to do. I hope Samsung can Distribute THIS ics ROM . with default volume up. Or hope xda can send a memo to their rom agents to default volume up. Its 20 million users out there in the galaxy two world. Crying for help. with this particular problem. Yes it's not hardware problem . its software problem. Proven.

Very Low Speaker Volume

Hi,
Got my galaxy s2 ... its just awesome phone but whenever I play video / audio, the audio output through speaker is very low even if at MAX level . How do I boost speaker volume while playing video / audio without using headset, because using headset the sound is great...
Please help me to resolve issue ASAP...
Thanx
Are you sure your hand isn't covering the speaker (the speaker is located near the bottom of the phone)?
Thanks for reply...I am very sure about this...
Search there are a number of posts on sound and amplification .

I had the same question, JJ. Although I've installed PowerAmp for playing my music. The audio of video playback still sucks. Any app to enhance the audio of the in-built Movie player of SGS II? The video is great though!
Or can you suggest the best Video Player which has good sound output?

Try volume+ app.. works for me
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Thanks, iznee, I found Volume+ app......but am a little nervous to use it coz it Warns repeatedly that "this app may cause serious damage to the speakers." So my questions are :
1. Is the Volume+ app safe to use on an SGS II??.......Actual Users' feedback will be appreciated.
2. Is this process (Boosting of Volume output) reversible? Can I put back my phone system in it's original condition if I don't like this app after using it or will it cause permanent changes by clicking on the "Boost" button??
Sorry, there's actually no solution to this problem. Seriously, save your time and buy a phone that works properly, not this hyped up phone with such overlooked bugs
Hello,
first of all you should take him to samsung warranty.
besides that, feel free to use Volume+. It works very well on s2 )
Hope it helps

Phone is hyped up for a reason, it blows everything else, literally out of the water.
My loud speaker is very loud, but then I have had louder (Well only Nokia N95 was louder). My SGS2 is bug free, as are many others.
I would say an SGS2 with quiet speaker is either faulty, or the user likes uncomfortably loud phones, which are few and far between.
If you are root try dsp manager.
AS far as my experience is concerned His lil Bro .. which is S1 got a Better Speaker as compared to the Big Bro ... AS far as the members which are suggesting u to use Volume+, so i wud like to add the Words of The Orginal [DeV]
A Cyanogen Mod 7 or MIUI ROM is HIGHLY recommended. Running this app on a Stock ROM/Kernel may result in it not working, being far too quiet, or getting even quieter. PLEASE don't comment or rate badly if you are on a Stock ROM as this is most likely the problem.
Thanks.

Now if u running Stock Rom it can work ... or to any other .. except which are mentioned... And also i have tried it ...
u might give a chance to this APP .... https://market.android.com/details?id=org.signalos.audioboostgs2&feature=search_result

[Q] Poor sound quality of music through headphones

Hi,
I really hope i dont have a faulty device, but the sound through my headphones (which have been working a day before on my beloved htc hero perfectly) is rather week, 75% maybe of the top volume i could reach on my hero.
I've already tried this in the default music app, and also on Jango Radio (internet music app).
the sound is rather week and also kind of not crystal clear.
is anybody else having this problem? and what can i do about it?
thanks alo!
Yes, actually I have the same thing, and I think a software problem with the music player, it stops when I raise the volume or when i press on the 5.1 ch icon or sometimes on it's own

Working fine!!
I've been using other earphones, but when i tried the one coming with the phone......blast!!!! that's y it was giving me problems!
Super dooper!!
sorry SGS II i underestimated u!!
Definitely the best phone ever up till now
I also noticed really bad quality with the stock headset.. After trying with the headphones from an iPod, the sound quality was much better.. So i guess the problem is really the stock headset.
The stock headphones are pretty bad. I don't get low volume. In fact, I get large amounts of distortion on higher volumes when using headphones. The sound quality is poor, but after tweaking with an EQ (PowerAMP!) it can be some-what salvaged.
There are also options in music player itself (equaliser and effects). For me it is sufficient to improve quality to desired level.
Is audio level & quality same as galaxy S
I am confused between Galaxy sII & xperia neo. I am shifting from Galaxy S, I got the phone refunded from samsung before this I have a wave, that also was refunded by samsung. Its obvious that I am a bit afraid going for samsung this time but still feel they are the best. I got this info from research that Galaxy SII doesn't have a good audio quality in comparison with the legendry Galaxy S. I can't afford to take risk for a 30K phone if it doesn't play good music because carrying an Ipod is virtually impossible if u already have S II in ur pocket. Thats the reason I have narrowed down to galaxy S II or Xperia Neo. But I need to confirm if its not even to galaxy s level in terms of audio quality and volume levels, plz help me folks, I am waiting for some helping replies and plz don't blind fold urself being loyal to ur device becoz my respect for Samsung is immortal, its just that I can't spend 30K blindly. I will have to consider the music segment.

Just do a fine tuning on your volume settings with the 'Samsung Secret Codes'
See this thread for guidance: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069015
Although for hearing music I had no problems, it was necessary for me to boost the headset volume for voice calls.
oh common, stop with this volume settings with Samsung secret codes, that has been posted by many here that this thing doesn't work. The numbers are re setting themselves back to original. The overall volume is just too low on this phone. I hope the 2.3.4. will adjust it higher.
Highly recommended:
To get clear sound from your Galaxy S II, simply install the free version of the brilliant "Equalizer"-app from Market. It has a five-band equalizer. From there you can increase the levels of the desired frequencies, treble, bass, midrange etc. The Galaxy S II has far to low default treble. This app takes care of that No root, no hassle.
There is also a paid version, but it is just needed if you want more than one custom preset.
But What about the levels of volume? Is it at par with the old Galaxy S?
... .

Well, I'm sorry for your insoluble problem, but I effectively fixed my volume problem in a permanent way (with various reboots with unchanged config after tweaking) using these codes.
I do apologise for my useless advice. I was only trying to help.

Actually, I've solved my volume problems following the guide of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741012 . and not the other one that I mentioned above. Unfortunately, it seems that it applies only for voice and video call volume, not for the media player. That said, I have to say that my music player is very loud, either using the headset or the speaker. I'm using the KE7 stock ROM.
Best of luck for you all guys.
the link you provide is for the old Galaxy S1, and even there guys complain about low level of EAR SPEAKER, and that the tweaked numbers reverse back to original after phone restart or re boot. So my question is: how did you make the new numbers to stay on your phone? I am using same KE7 and stock firmware as well. I can't raise the volume by these codes at all, doesnt stay not even 2 phone calls. Can you reveal the magic how did you do it? ( no offense to you at all, I am just helpless because I can't barely hear people calling me, driving in my car - Mercedes btw...)
Thank you for your help
Most stores (in Sweden anyway) have the phone so you can try it yourself, just go to a shop where either a manager carries it or the store has a demo of it and bring your headphones! You can't go wrong with that!
I have a really nice piece of Denon's (AH-D1001) and even though the phone can't power as well as the older galaxy s, I get a really natural good sound with mine and it's just loud enough. No EQ needed.

Yes, the original thread was for the ancient SGS1, nevertheless, the command still works for the SGS2 (at least for my device). Before I did the 'fine tuning' on my volume settings (following the SGS1 guide on the mentioned thread), I could barely hear the other person's voice in a phone call while using the headset. Now I adjust the volume around 70-75% for making phone calls using the headset, which is more than enough for me. I didn't do anything different than the guide says, and I have no idea why it doesn't work for your device.

[Q] Can a ROM Change Your Call Quality?

Since we're not flashing radios, is it still possible that a ROM could change call quality?
My call quality is bad now and was really good before flashing the ROM. Ineffibalis GB version. Hadn't read anything about it in that thread so thought I'd ask in general forum to see if that is even possible that that is the cause. Or the kernel? Or the combo?
I have low volume on speakerphone now, to the point where I need to hold it up to my ear as if it's not even on. If I don't use speakerphone on one call I could barely hear my friend and now I just got off phone with a different friend and she was louder (she always is ) but it was distorted. She said I sounded muffled.
Okay, everything was fine on the call to my mom, good thing since it's her birthday.
Will test again with the same friends later.
EDIT: Okay, this may have been a false alarm as far as it doesn't seem to be a permanent issue. Before I called my mom I had installed Adaway and needed to reboot for that so maybe the reboot helped. I called one of the same friends again and it was normal on my end and better on hers, she did still say I was sounding a little bit muffled but I doubt it was anything major that was really a problem and could have been her headset.
Happy birthday, fera's mom! Lol the only issue I had on that rom was that my speakerphone seemed to disappear.

I wanted to say I have this same problem. My phone is not rooted. I tried factory reset and wiping the cache. I tried using equalizers but they only work for music player apps and even with bass on max it just sounds distorted. The update that caused this for several people was the latest security update. If anyone has found a way to fix this in non rooted phones I would be eternally grateful, because I drive long hours everyday and my phone was what made the trips enjoyable, without bass my speakers sound like I have a cell phone on full volume in my car. :crying:
I too was disappointed with the audio after 7.0 update. Especially the lack of EQ settings normally accessed in sound settings or Google Music. I installed MusicFX.apk from the below link - this made the EQ accessible. As a result sound is great and better than before the update. I also have DAC fix.
