Running Mozart on WM 6.5 - 7 Mozart General

Dear Sirs,
I think that the Mozart is a fine device.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has finally arrived with its mobile branch in the
windows world,
where there is the old saying :
"if there is a service pack 2, then you can start to work with the operating system".
So I am thinking of getting a mozart,
and let windows mobile 6.5 run on it,
until summer next year, where I expect WM 7 to be useable.
Are there any people who have done this yet,
or are you all eager to play with Windows Phone 7 and it's Bugs ?
Regards,
Soulchen

You haven't actually used it have you?
Regardless, it's an idiotic idea, if you want WM get a WM phone and upgrade to a next gen WP device next year.

using it
I am currently using WM 6.0 on a HTC device branded by T-Mobile.
"MDA Compact IV".
So I admit that I haven't used 6.5, but I think - as 6.0 is quite fine - that 6.5 sould be better than 6.0.
(if it's not, please tell me)
as Win 7 has no copy and paste, no direct syncing to outlook without the web,
and it's quite locked up,
I think, that somehow 6.5 seems a better idea for me than 7.
Regards,
Soulchen

Hallo @all,
I also would like to use WM 6.5.5 on the Mozart. Is this to be expected?
I had to take the T-Mobile Mozart (16GB) but I have a HD2 and I love this because of the Option to run ANdroid and 6.5.5 .... If this is not realistic I will sell the Mozart otherwise pherhaps the HD2
Thanks in advice

In every way, windows phone 7 is better than 6.5, no doubt about it.
And besides that, there is no way to install wm6.5 to the mozart, nor will anyone try to develop it, because there really is no sense in putting an crappy os like wm6.5 when you have Windows Phone 7 that is working great out of the box. And wm6.5 has no multi-touch so aint never gonna work on our SLCD screens.

If you love 6.5 and dont like wp7, whats the point in getting a mozart?
The only reason i can see in getting a mozart is :-
A) you want one.
B) you want to try wp7.
If you have a hd2 and are happy with the fine selection of roms there are then stick with it. If wp7 was out for the hd2 i would have not got the mozart as i think the hd2 is a much nicer phone. I like wp7 and the mozart but would much rather have wp7 on my hd2. wp7 still needs time to grow and the problems and bugs will start to fix so let judge it once some of the problems have been addressed, i mean when was the last time anyone can remember microsoft putting out anything that works straight out the box with no bugs or problems? We all get phones running their os and spend time here chatting rubbish about them, but we all keep flashing roms and waiting for the next big fix or tweak. If you want 6.5 on a mozart your wasting you money, get the hd2 or just get in with the rest of the robots and get an iphone.

Buy my 8 month old HTC HD2 from me then if you want 6.5.5
Just remember, the Mozart is a Windows Phone 7 only. And to consider downgrading for functionality as simple as cut and paste and tethering, well your missing the point of the new OS totally.
There are stacks of 6.5.5 models still available, as i said.. by mine!

has he asked if your hd2 can be downgraded to 6.1, sorry could not resist.

You have to use WP7, it is fantastic, sooo much better than 6.5.
I now have a phone that works and does everything it needs to. It has shown me that a phone is not a computer, and should not be used as one. Using the cloud is so efficient for my small business, I wish I had done it sooner.
Obviously there are some things to be added, but this is to be expected for something new.

Lack of software!!!
I am not arguing about how great WP7 is... It is just great, and working just fine, but I really don't see the point of having a nice device if you can not use it's gps for navigation unless you have a flatrate with bing maps?!?!
I have tons of WM 6 apps laying around (installed on other wm6 device) and I have a very nice phone WP7 but I have to carry both of them with me if I want to navigate...

Mozarts from T-Mobile Germany come with Navigon Select pre-installed (check out the T-Mobile Windows Phone website for details). If it wasn't on your device, you can download it for free!

I bought the device without a contract, to use it with my prepaid.
So, it is not the case...
I could download Navigon only if I were a Telekom user, which I am not, so I will have to wait till the next year... perhaps some navigation software developer will make wp7 navigation (not taking navigon in account, other navigation software suppliers did not announce their will to develop for WP7)

Hi All,
I'm also disappointed from WM7 Mozart. Actually it is a very nice phone ... unless you want to do some work with it. It doesn't have copy+paste (crazy like the first iPhones ), it doesn't sync with Outlook (stupid on-line sync with MicrosoftLive costs a lot of money if you are traveling!), doesn't run the old apps (actually this was one of the biggest Microsoft advantages - the backward compatibility), lack of navigation (I'm missing quite a lot iGo and Garmin) and finally - the lack of tethering. The latest is killing me (I can live with the others but that one...) as I'm using the phone to access Internet and do my job when I have an emergency. Now I have to choose - either phone or GSM modem to access Internet. This is ridiculous.
So I'm waiting either Microsoft to have the tethering back or to have WM6.5 on Mozart. Or else - bye-bye WM7! I don't have so much money to spend just for a nice looking device which actually does ... nothing

For the love of God THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS WM7!!! It is WINDOWS PHONE 7, and is a totally different operating system.

Wm6 wm6.5 wp7
As i recently got a Mozart, i have been watching this post with interest. I can only agree the WM6 WM6.5 are sooooo different from W-PHONE 7. To down grade a Mozart to WM6.5 may work, but it would need someone with the skills and a good reason to do it.
I have used WM6 & WM6.5 on my HTC Rhodium. They both are different in layout/feel/working method, but run similar Apps. so far NONE of these run on WP7, as its a different OS.
My suggestion is keep the Mozart on WP7, and good Apps WILL follow. If you want to run WM6 or 6.5 Apps, get yourself a nice HTC Rhodium. You should get a good one on e bay or similar.

Well, old post, but:
You can get a T-Mo Prepaid-Sim or some of your friends/family have a T-Mo SIM,
put it in and downloading Navigon should work. After that put your usual SIM in and that's it.
I've read somewhere that this should work.

Pls can someone explain to me why 6.5 cannot be loaded on a mozart?
I got a mozart and would love 6.5 on it,7 SUCKS!my gps doesn`t work(my country not supported)Zune doesnt work(my country not supported)Cloud = not working(my country again)7 is as usefull as symbian on a nokia 3310 in south africa.
Please can someone help me to get 6.5 on my mozart.Or at least point me in the right direction.

Wp7 jailed users ... Because you can not install or create your applications without pass thru Market Place MS approval. I bought a HTC Mozart to try WP7, Its a great OS but if you can not install your developed Aplication. Your freedom is lost... Why M$ do not allow your choice ? The better thing about microsoft was the freedom, but now... When available I will downgrade to wm6.5 and wait wp7 becomes better.

I would be idiot if i have this idea in even in my dream. if one wants window 6.5 then why to buy mozart its simply a not respecting the money and its value and beauty of innovation /technology. I believe people who takes the time to even read and reply this thread is like a wasting of our time.

The Question still stands: IS IT POSSIBLE to load 6.5 on a mozart?what is needed to do it?

Any of the "regulars" working on 6.5?

As the title says---any of you working on the 6.5 that has appeared here? I'm running the "clean" 6.5 posted, but I miss Pampooh's Neo-themed 6.1.....What say you all??
This is my understanding of the situation, as far as I know. Erofich hasn't committed to a 6.5 project. Pampooh says he doesn't have the time, at the moment.
That takes care of the regulars, I think.
You can try one of the posted 6.5 ROMs. I flashed one yesterday, thought "this looks cool/promising" and an hour later was running Pampooh's 1.05b again.
"clean" ROM
Yes--I'm running the "clean" 6.5 posted--but I miss Pampooh's Neo---very nice look & the feature-set that works for me---I might look into cooking one--never done it & it looks interesting......
I don't have the device too. Both of my StarTrek's have gone to their rest.
Sorry to hear that!!!
May your 'treks RIP!!! I still like your themes....could you point me towards a tutorial/info to cook a ROM?
Ive tried the 6.5 roms - but my phone has finally killed its battery cover and I cant find a new one for love nor money - so its sort of academic.
Can say from experience though that the 6.5.3 (or equivalent) on the startrk is pretty good - even if the version I have is half in chinese.
I've seen them on eBay---
So you might take a look there---I have a HTC listing-watch going. Thinking of buying a Elf--should be "fairly" easy to run Android on it........
As for the Chinese bit---have you had any luck finding a "cure" for the non-english parts?

I've looked and their without exception black and mostly second hand and scratched all to hell most like - Its the one girlie phone I have ever bought - but then for £50 it was a steal at the time... I'd prefer to get a pink one if I can but dont really wanna spend alot of money on an entire phone :S
only way to cure the chinese language bits is to get a full wwe rom cooked, I dont know how to do that and im not really all that bothered since I am pretty much exclusively using the WG3 as my phone and Diamond 6.5.3 as a sorta baby internet tablet.

HTC HD2 - 5 buttons
HTC HD7 - 3 buttons
HD2 has enought buttons , obviously more than Windows Phone 7 needs
I heard it's actually because of the extra buttons.
Not entirely sure what to make of it - whether is was real or not just came across it and thought I'd share:
Windows Phone 7 Running on HTC HD2?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f_NJatLVQk
HTC support told me that there will be upgrade for the HD2.
Windows Phone 7 devices should have only a Back-Button, Windows-Start-Button and a BING-Search-Button. Additional buttons can be e.g. Volumecontrol- or Cameracontrol-Buttons. The HD2 has no Search-Button and the Call-Accept/End-Buttons and the Home-Button are not supported natively by Windows Phone 7, thats why the HD2 never gets an official upgrade to WP7.
@TriniKing_CE: This video might be true. Cotulla is trying to port WP7 to the HD2 but he says it will be more difficult than expected! So you have to wait for a stable and full working rom!

I have to disagree, I do not think that the HD2 is "let down" by WM6.5.....
It is far and away the most versatile OS as far as I can see. Ok the actual WM interface is dated but I still find the windows version of sense to be much nicer than the android equivalent. I have been using android a lot lately and find it to be so much more restrictive than WM. However it cannot be denied that it is much more suitable for the "average user" ( I tried to phrase that without coming across as a techno snob )
As far as the free upgrade to WP7 is concerned Im afraid you were misinformed... It has been officially stated that this will not happen

I completely agree with that. WM 6.5 is a great OS and I really want to have a device running it. But most manufacturers have set up there priority to Android or Windows Phone 7. I preffer to buy a HD2, because it is the most exciting phone. It can run Android and maybe later WP7 if Cotulla get it working. But it also would be nice if any manufacturer like HTC bring out new WM 6.5 devices, because WM6.5 is not outdated.
I am a user which has no prejudices against any operating system. It is only a matter of taste which you want to have and which you need for your requirements. WM is almost the only OS, which is not addicted to any big concern. While using Android, Google is omnipresent, while using an iPhone you have restrictions from Apple everywhere. And on WM you can install what you want. I also can run non Microsoft software and if you want you can run Android by using HARET. Tell me any other OS which is able to perform a dualboot or wich is able to run a second OS parallel?! I guess there is NO!

Android on Mozart

Wow, just wait for genius chef if they can make this device capable of running android. Not sure how can we invite them to start working on this.
Can we all make a combined request to great chefs of Android as they made it possible for HD2 so nothing is impossible for them.
I have to ask: why would we possibly want Android when we have WP7? Surely we would all have bought Nexus S' if we wanted Android :S
Wrong answer.
This is the "Because we can" argument. It's a waste of time. I've been following Android on the HTC diamond and It's not practical purely down to the power management. It just sucks the battery down to nothing after 20 minutes.

Just a thought: it might seem stupid to you and the answer might even be obvious to everyone but me, but why didn't you buy an Android phone to start with?
- You'd then have an Android device right now
- Would not lose your warranty when you use Android (as you most likely will on WP7 as it will require unlocking or flashing)
- Would not be limited by Microsoft in any way
So maybe I'm missing some point here, but feel free to enlighten me

but according to me there are two ways to live life, one simplest way and second to go beyond limit and do something different.
if we buy android then there is near to impossible to enjoy windows 7 but if we have wp7 then there is possibility to enjoy android and that's in bl** single device wow. no need to have two sim two phone to enjoy life.

I think he means like MAGLDR on Mozart = DUAL BOOT Android and WP7. Or quadruple boot WM6, WM7, Ubuntu, Android as I am doing here on my HD2 which works on LIVE and Marketplace ACTIVE as a HD7.
Android on mozart would be interesting. Reasonably easy to do once bit more work with ansar's work and his spl upgrade/hack maybe (global branding removal) + htc rom image editor etc and debug. It will happen.
Older phones as mentioned in this thread+droid=sux. HD2+Android (espeially Magldr+Darkstone SUPER-NAND RAM-build on Nand=AMAZING).
But yes- it is EASY to get around LIVE activation: read HD2 threads: and no Magldr 1.12 loads a simulacrum SPL for WP7 from nand yaffs which straps WP7 partitions so there is no real way that Microsoft can lock your phone down. Its LIVE!

you are wrong..... Microsoft will know which phone been modified from HD2 by using hardware id..... muahahaha.... you are using illegal OS....
Afaik Mozart is the only handset with a 1ghz+ CPU and a Xenon flash that is "potentially" capable of running android, that fact alone makes it worth modding on imo. Would be fun to see if someone got it working, but right now I'm hoping the motoroi 2 will come out soon =)
Edit: And about legality - many countries (like norway) have laws that forbid EULAs that restrict using other software on your hardware, effectively nullifying that concern
im looking for experiment like this, run android on mozart or any wp7 phone.
Would be great, but i think there isn't a big community for Mozart 7, and special for Android on Mozart

If you are running androind there is no access to that
How could microsoft ban you, magic?

There are several threads asking for Android for Mozart, there were no need to start a new one.
Also don't you think it's easy to buy a phone with android, if you want android, or an iphone if you want ios, rather than installing the OS on an unsupported device?
Smartphones are not computers...
Well, It looks like the DFT have made a breakthrough (check their twitter @cotullacode). It looks like they've patched the spl, which would mean that the possibility is there
well the SPL is certainly a start
now they just need to crack the bootloader, rework the entire OS to be able to run EXEs, crack the system to allow root access to the filesystem to upload a virtual linux FS, compile a working linux kernel, reconfigure the drivers for the screen, buttons, radio, camera, wifi etc, get them all working together.
then we just need to get unlocked devices to run it all.
sorry to sound pessimistic, but i know how long it's taken people to get semi-working versions of android for other handsets which have much larger user-bases than the mozart
as i said, the blackstone STILL isn't working well enough for day-to-day use and they've JUST got the camera working...ish....and that project has been going for about 2 years with MASSES of people on it. That ran WM6 which already had the ability to run EXEs and an accessible filesystem and no root access needed.
i really wouldn't hold your breath for a long time yet
On the other hand though when cotulla managed to get haret to work on the HD2, development really took off. I mean it's only been about 7 months since then and now the HD2 is as stable as the next off the shelf android phone
yes, but the HD2 already had the facility to run custom EXE files and full & free access to the filesystem. Plus again it had a much larger user base than the Mozart - more people working on it.
i bought the mozart for USD 600 and this shi* aint worth that much... even last month it was able to do the simple features like "copy" & "paste".. this is unacceptable!! i regret for the decision i made for a mozart instead of an i4
600USD is expensive from what i understand
anyway - what EXACTLY are your problems with it?
Your sentence : even last month it was able to do the simple features like "copy" & "paste"
makes no sense
did you mean it COULDNT do copy & paste?
it will do as soon as you get the NoDo update - should be any time now.
remember its still a VERY young operating system and it took iOS over a year to get copy&paste functionality too.
The whole thing is evolving - it's very young - and it will only get better over time
if you dont think it's for you then ranting on here isnt going to fix things, sell it and get an iphone if that's what you really want (but i'd recommend against it) or an android system - whatever
tell us exactly what you're problems are and we'll see if anyone knows a workaround - but as i said - it's still a very young system at the moment and there ARE things missing that are coming in the next updates.
mozart wiil get mango in fall.
if anyone knows the exact date when it will get MANGO?

[Q] Newbie on Windows Phones (from Android)

Hello there
I'm an Android user, and I like switching between many ROMs, manipulating a bit (even if I don't know much).
But a friend of mine has a HTC Titan, and I was wondering what could we do about those phones. I mean, can we change to custom ROMs ? Are there as many as there is on droids, is it as easy (or kind of) as Androids, or is it dangerous, are there any risks, etc. What are the possibilities ?
Thank you in advance for your answer

The simple answer here is...No! There are three variants of the Titan; the first one was a coon's age ago and the last two might as well be from different planets. The "Eternity" variant is the one you want; the "Radiance" variant is a lesson in futility as are all future Windows Phones. In an earlier life the Windows Mobile 6.x platform could be customized in every way Android is today. Windows Phone 7 comes along and the braintrust at every carrier and Microsoft decided to make life hard for us who enjoy customizing our phones and you'd think common sense would win the day...oh no...despite a 3.1% marketshare and royally pissing off every WP7 phone owner along the way they continue to lock these phones down and as more than a few Lumia 920 (WP8) owners will tell you the latest update now won't allow them to edit their mobile data speed and most are now stuck on LTE and what do we know about LTE boys and girls....one, not everybody has it; two, a lot of folks don't have it; and three, you can't edit the device to HSPA+, 3G or 2G as we Eternity variant Titans can. To answer your question head on - The Titan II cannot be tinkered with and no device since can on WP7 or WP8 platforms. Prior to Titan II...you bet; the HTC HD2 is the device you want for tinkering on any platform known to man; one look at its XDA main page will tell you its your device of choice for customized flashing of any ROM on any platform and it is extremely doubtful there will be another device like it ever made again, but one can wish...hopelessly. All that said, I love my Titan I, the Eternity. There are multiple level of locks...there's Interop, Developer and HSPL and you need all of them to play. It is not for the faint of heart, this is not Android....I can tell you I successfully HSPL my phones but I can also tell you I was scared to death I bricked them too, but there is a world of difference between a WP phone you can install your own apps like the Windows Mobile days or be so locked down there's no joy in any of it. Today, I'm on the fence as to whether to remain with Windows Phone despite what appears they finally got right with WP8 but I'm sick of this attitude that our devices have to be locked down that you're left to their whims not your own. One look at the WP pages will tell you development is little compared to Android. I ordered my wife's HTC One from HTC for $649.99, the 64GB Developer Edition and the next thing I did was install Launcher 8. Yes, under the hood it's different but it made for easy navigation of apps. I expect someone on Android is going to create a "live" tile for a WP8 skin of Android and likely I'm gone from WP. I'm not aware there is any further development going on over at WP7.8; there is some rumor that across the pond there is to be a WP7.9 release but as to what that is likely to entail; I don't know. Rumor is begging for a better bluetooth interface which is sorely missed even on WP8...what were they thinking? If you use Skype, it doesn't run in background on WP7.x. It's a mix bag...I love the platform, I'm sick of how the powers that be have really ruined it for us who enjoy it for what it is...different and I'm not kidding when I say this, it runs as smooth as butter; I simply do not understand the brain trust behind it and why they made it so damn hard for those of us who have been loyal to them for years.
Well said, even a rooted titan with a custom rom is not in the same league as a HD2 running WM.... its a real same those days have gone!

Or an HD2 running WP7.8 or as I am currently the NexusHD which I'm about to update to NativeSD with his most recent release. I am so fet up with all the obstacles that Windows Phone owners have had to put up with and even if you are HSPL and Developer and Interop Unlocked there are still obstacles and Android there is none and I simply don't understand the logic of what Microsoft and carriers are trying to accomplish; you'd think they'd welcome what contributors at XDA have done and maybe flashing my Titan today is a good example trying to setup Straight Talk with MMS, make Bing Map and Windows Phone Marketplace play nice and nope, no can do! Android? No problem. Throw my HD2 into the mix and despite only having EDGE; it all works but the bottom line is, you shouldn't have to pay for what you benefit from using W-Fi not mobile data.
Thank you guys for your answers. So I suppose there is no advantage of customisation with Windows Phones ^^
Take a look in the Titan ROM development, i,m running Dynamics 2.0 by ultrashot.... best ROM in my opinion. I edited the registry so it thinks its a Nokia, this way I get all the nokia apps. Read the thread to get a good idea of what a custom ROM gives you. Rumour has it that version 2.2 coming soon so keep an eye out. Rooting the Titan really is risky so read up on it before you take the plunge!
