One Click Root for Fascinate? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My cousin is in town and I'm trying to help her unbloat her Fascinate. I've got a Captivate and have used TGA_Gunnman's OneClickRoot to root my phone - Has anyone tried this on the Fascinate.
Supposedly the OCR is for all Samsung Galaxy S models.
Thanks

Depends one what baseband they are on. Ea28 is hard to root I hear. Never herd of your root methid being done on the fascinate. On android central, there is an all in one odin pack that gets pushed in the pda section that uses sc2.6, is prerooted and has the new cwr already on it. Maybe that will help...

This would be best for DI01, DL05, DL09 baseband as said above. Some indicate it works for EA28, while others say it causes problem.

I'm trying to just root the phone for now to do some testing while she's in town - I don't want to leave the phone rooted or load a ROM just yet.
The advantage to OCR (if it works for Fascinate) is that I can root/unroot with a single click - Very easy compared to other methods. No ADB/Terminal commands at all needed.
Just checked, and her phone is an EA28.

If your tryin to root and then unroot, try adryns all in one odin pqck for di01. Then root using z4 if you want. Then reflash the all in one pack for di01 in odin and it will unroot it for ya....

Well, I don't want to flash the phone at all yet; even back to stock. I'm just testing a few things but don't want to change anything permanently on the phone quite yet.

[Q] Wondering about the Vibrant 2.2

My friend has a vibrant and he wants it rooted. I have a Droid X and its rooted using z4root. Can I root his phone using z4root. I know tha Galaxy S devices are compatible with z4root but I was wondering if it was safe since he has the OTA 2.2 update from T-Mobile/Samsung. Which took for ever to get on his phone.
Thanks
Since he has the official 2.2, there is a way to root but it would have been easier from 2.1. You can search the forums for the instructions, or you can do what I have done for a couple of people, and odin back to ji6 (2.1). And then use one click root in the dev section. All of that really only takes about 20 minutes. Just my opinion.
Odin to stock, Flash Ji6 Update to 2.2 and root with latest oneclick, get all this in the sitckies
So I can't use z4root even though its for galaxy s devices and 2.2 devices
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
No that probably you can but I don not know if they have updated for the 2.2 and why take the risk, Rooting is rooting doesn't matter which method you use......so it is prudent to use one that is safe and known to work.
No, I don't think that z4root will work in the official 2.2
ota 2.2? maybe you meant kies..
I meant kies. Which was a,huge pain.,

[Q] Please Help Need Simpler Way to Root Galaxy S2

All was working fine untill superoneclick decided not to open and had an error message that said "Unable to find the version of runtime to run this application." I couldn't find a way to fix it after multiple attempts so I decided to try the easier way of rooting the phone. But this requires my firmware which is KDD but I can find the thread for it. Does anyone have the thread for it or help me find it. PLEASE help is greatly appreciated I have been doing this for more then 4 hours im getting really frustrated.

I rooted mine by flashing the lightning rom through Odin. The rom is already rooted. Even if you don't want to use it at least you are rooted and can flash other stuff now

stock froyo PDA for odin?

Hi guys. Id like to flash the stock froyo update through odin. I currently only have the 2.1 on file. Where can I download a odin flashable stock 2.2?
Thanks

This link is a build done by Eugene373, is pre rooted and comes with modded 2e recovery. Works flawlessly, just use the same 512 pit file you have for jfd (2.1).

Im looking to go full stock, as I am selling the phone (it was a great run with the vibrant). Do I just go to 2.1 and force the OTA somehow? Please let me know.
Thank you very much!
Well officially you are suppose to use Kies mini to update...but its buggy as hell...hard bricked me
Yeah, don't use kies mini, its bad juju. If you just stright stock, jfd 2.1 is the way to go IMHO.
Edit - Kies mini IS the "official" way tmobile released our 2.2 upgrade, but as trailblazer11 said, it can brick your phone. There was never an OTA update sent out for us.

STOCK ICS and Back to GINGERBREAD??

Is there a way for me to install leaked ICS on my non rooted at&t note, then if I don't like it, go back to gingerbread without rooting or problems?? Thanks for any help! I can't take not having ICS anymore!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The leaks both have odin built in and don't require that you be rooted to use. Just download double click and enjoy.
There's a new more complete leak coming soon.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654293
I understand that I don't need to be rooted. My question is...IF I would like to go back to Gingerbread from a leak without rooting, could I? That way I could get the OTA?

Wait for the new leak above. You can flash it with odin via your pc. If you don't like it (you will) you can flash back to stock also via odin. Its 100% easier just to root though. When the OTA comes out it will posted here in a matter of minutes for everyone to flash and enjoy.

Without root access you can't back up your apps and your phone.
But you can always flash the stock gingerbread with odin and raise your flash counter.
Thanks for all the advice! I have never used Odin before. I'm used to just dropping a ROM on the card and flashing or just plugging into my computer for something I downloaded. This is my first Samsung Galaxy device. Anything I should know before hand? My previous device was a Droid X.

You mean if the OTA released by AT&T.. I need to flash that with ODIN again?
If I go back to stock Gingerbread via ODIN.. then I can update OTA not necessarily using ODIN again.. right?
sorry for my dumb question..

Right. If you odin back to stock gingerbread you can wait for the OTA update. Whenever that may come. OR you can flash the update via odin when it comes out. Whenever it comes out officially you can use the method of your choice.

This is an extremely noob question probably but I need to ask. Could somebody please explain to me how to Odin to ICS and how to get back to Gingerbread using Odin? Sorry for the dumb question but again I need to know before I do this. Never used it before.

[Q] Official ICS Update Removes Root?

I just used Kies to update my Samsung Galaxy S2 I777 from 2.3.6 to 4.0..3 ICS that just came out. I was previous rooted and now the root seems to be gone. How do i fix this and root my phone again while its 4.03?
Does the super 1 click root work on the official 4.0.3 version?
I would appreciate any help/directions on how to reroot my phone after i updated to the official ICS from AT&T. Thank you!
You can not root the official update

So I'm stuck with this forever or will there be a fix for this in the near future?
Btw was it normal for my root to be removed by updating my phone using kies? Because when i updated previously from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 OTA using my phone's software update option, it didn't remove the root. I was surprised to see that ICS did
Also, what do you guys think about using this method to root my official version of ICS 4.03 on my S2: http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-ics-on-att-galaxy-s2-sgh-i777/
I know most people on here don't like galaxys2root.com but I'm running the unrooted version of ICS from galaxys2root.com and am having no problems.

Yea but i want to root so that i can freeze apps using titanium back, as well use root capabilities such wifi tethering and root explorer. So i need to root soon. What is the best/safest way to do this on the official ICS 4.03 version?
Well I don't know why his rooted version would be good as well...have you read the comments on his tutorial in the link you posted? Probably will give you a good idea of how it's going for other people.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA
It seems to be working for some people but I honestly don't want to have to root using a I9100 version/kernel to have a root. I was hoping that there was an similar root to the super 1 click root method where you can keep your phone on the i777 version.
Also some of the comments say that they are having issues with certain buttons, and on the youtube video one comment says something about getting bricked. So idk
Restore to stock kh7 with root, then flash the official rom in the dev section is the only way I know of at the moment

My humbly tendered suggestion would be that you start reading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313659
Oh, man...why won't someone spend the time to find this poor guy the info he needs and post the links? It's not his fault he did an update without first knowing what effects it would have on his phone. What a heartless bunch you guys are. It's not like he's been here for over 3 years and knows how this forum works.
Yes you can root the update but trying to flash an update script thru 3e recovery didn't work for me and will format your sd card when you exit 3e but I was rooted within 10 minutes after upgrading to att official ICS. Just to be sure I downloaded/installed Superuser and busybox, then I flashed the CWM recovery kernel ( if you don't know ahead of time how this process works please research before attempting it) which won't boot the phone but allows you to use the button combo to get into recovery and then flashed the latest Siyah kernel .zip (or whichever ICS kernel you prefer), which had been strategically placed on my sd card prior to the Kies flash. And voila...root and recovery.

Why not just flash the pre-rooted version?
...and then there's that ! ^ As a matter of convenience that works too...but personally I like to take what I've learned thru these forums and apply it in real life to retain the process.

Another way to do it, if you have the Odin flashable files, would be to use Mobile Odin with the everroot option checked.

So does this look just like the "official" AT&T release (just cleaned up)?
