just recently got this for my wife. been rooted. and thats it. im wanting well, shes wanting to stay on stock side but not too deep with custom rom. i was wondering if anybody had the file or link to a deoxed version of this 2.2 fascinate i could flash over? im not really familliar with dl30 or etc and i dont' know which is the recent 2.2 doexed version. any help would be great. or any rom thats close to stock and deoxed. thx again.
ps. what the heck is voodoo? are we talking about that new digital copy deal or ?
Here's a link to what you asked for:

This belongs in general. You should really use the search function.

Do all of this, except instead of flashing the ROM in that thread, flash this deodexed ROM (same one that chameleo78 linked to). http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20950916/EB0...xed-signed.zip
And Voodoo is a lagfix. Stock Galaxy S phones use the RFS file system, but if you flash a Voodoo kernel it makes the file system EXT4, which improves read and write speeds.
thx for the response guys!!! drop box if over loading so ill wait until it comes back online. thx

[Q] Installing CM7 on Telus Fascinate

Hello
This is my first attempt at flashing a custom ROM on my phone i have a bit of experience flashing custom stuff from the PSP Scene but if anyone can offer a bit of advice on this I would appreciate it. I have poked around in the forums here and have seen a few guides for flashing a custom ROM on a Telus Fascinate but all of them seem to be slightly different and a few months old so the files referred to may or may not be out of date or the links are broken.
I currently have my phone rooted with the voodoo lag fix kernal running aand would like to install CM7
Ok so after all this long windedness here are my questions
1) the first step seems to be to install a non stock kernal can i us the voodoo kernal to install CM7 (i assume i have to turn off lag fix)?
2) Guides refer to installing the full version of the ROM first and then apply the update but the only files i seem to be able to find is the "nightlys" can i use the latest nightly when flashing?
If anyone has a latest and greatest guide and a working link to any of the files need it would be greatly appreciate
Thanks

Looked at this one previously since it was really the only one that includes having the voodoo kernal to start...my only question with it is which CM7 Rom to use. Can i just use the latest nightly coming from stock 2.2 or is there a Base CM7 that you have to start with then once thats installed upgrade to the latest nightly

I found this guide too (which seems to be newer) but i can't post there to the 10post rule

[Q] Flashing CM7 on Telus Fascinate

Hi
I think i have this all figured out but i am just wondering which CM7 file i should be using coming from stock 2.2 (with voodoo kernel). From what i have read i need to flash the initial file first then the nightly. Where can i find the initial file? Is this the file name "cm7-galaxys-initial-20110410.zip"
Thanks
Anyone???
i really want to give CM7 a shot but don't want to screw up my phone flashing the wrong type of ROM
Hey Guys, I'm in the same boat. The guide is a little outdated and some links are broken to the CM7website.. A new or updated guide would be muchos appreciated
Thanks
Check out this guide its the newest i've seen...i finally got a reponse there about this once i could post there...apparently the latest nightly will work but i haven't had a chance to try it yet

[Q] rooting help!

sorry for posting thiss but i cannot find an answer anywhere guys. Okay this might be a dumb question but my fascinate came stock with 2.1, and i have updated to 2.2 and then now running 2.3 do i have to flash it all the way back to 2.1 for roms? or is there a way i can root with my un-stock 2.3?
You don't need to root to flash roms.
The only reason you would root at this point, is ONLY if you where going to stay with the stock ROM and wanted to remove software that came pre-installed.
Flash whatever ROM you want, you can flash no matter what version you are on, 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3. Just make sure you do your homework, and learn about what you are flashing first, and if there are any other necessary steps to flash.
ooohh okay so if i root thats only if im going to 2.1 and going to stay there?
thnx alot answered a question that no one else has for me
All custom roms will come pre-rooted. So all you need to do is flash the appropriate recovery, and flash a rom. Your phone will be rooted.

cyanogenmod 11 to revolutionary s5

Hello all, i am a newbie to flashing roms and i would like your help.
I currently have CM 11 installed with its stock CM kernel that goes with the rom.
I decided that i want to switch to revolutionary s5 rom.
I did a small research but i dont know if what i read was correct, so i need someone to reply with the steps i should follow and some links to guide me.
Only thing i know so far is that i have to install clockworkmod recovery.
I should do anything with the kernels? cause CM kernel is not compatible with rev s5 kernel.
Im waiting for some replies to start flashing to rev s5 im so excited!
Thanks
