[Q] Other streaming media options? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Saw the Hulu thread that I guess tricks the browser into thinking it's a full website as opposed to mobile. Just curious what streaming sites you guys use, obviously Netflix isn't working either but hopefully we'll eventually get it. We pay for the 4G, may as well get our moneys worth.
This should've been posted in the General.. My bad.

Got Froyo? How about Netflix and Hulu?

With the Froyo leak, I thought I'd give this a try. I use a product called PlayOn to stream NetFlix, Hulu etc to a couple of my at home devices. It's been around awhile for the iphone. It's not official yet, but with their latest release, you're able to stream over 3g with flash to your android now, and I must say it works pretty good. I do not work for PlayOn, I found this tip in their support forum, just thought I'd pass it along, something new to play with on your new Froyo Fascinate.
No need to PlayOn, playa! We're LIVE! Netflix IS LIVE!
This is the 4th or 5th netflix related post on PAGE 1 of this forum. All of the others indicate that netflix is now NATIVE to the fascinate. Furthermore this is a half year old thread that had no reason to be necro'd
I'm not really sure how to express my displeasure without flaming so I will leave this thread forever now albeit with less faith in humanity and our ability to teach basic reading and critical thinking skills.

[Q] TV App

It's been a while since I reasearched this and now that I upgraded to a decent phone I thought I'd check in here,. is there a decent TV app out yet? I mean to watch local TV digital stations or some variation there of? thanks
Not that I am aware of..bitbop is the only thing I know of. Best bet to just do a search online for a specific livestream..there are lots of flash sites out there.
Slingbox of course. Kinda pricey getting everything setup but most definitely worth it.
Buy a slingbox great hd easy install. i love it! The app is $30 buutt you can find it for a "cheaper price"
i just stream using flash from phstream.com (i think thats the site )

I tried going to this site and it was nothing but a bunch of redirects. Unthanks
for $50 a year you can't beat Jetflicks for content.

[Q] movie uploads

Just wondering if it was against policy to start a thread where we could get movies that are already converted for some people on the site. I know that droidappz has a thread. Would be nice to have a devoted thread for just that, pretty sure some people might appreciate it. I have been working on converting.
I guess it's a pushy topic. I know most forum sites are against piracy... I know there was a couple floating around before. Some stuff through the IRC even. I'd like to see it happen. But I guess you need a definite answer. I know you could PM links.

Does anyone know of any freeware that will allow the conversion of DVDs and Video files to 3D side by sides. I have the ability to make mp4 movies from my DVDs but I can't seem to find a free program that will split the video for 3D playback.
Any help??\

[Q] protection apps for evo3d

ok our daughter is going to middle school and we got her an evo 3d (during the amazon .01 sale). I am looking for some app suggestions to lock the phone down to help with porn, etc. similar to norton family protect online.
I am also looking to track via GPS, and playing with Life 360's app which seems pretty cool, but the app tends to close (even though it's set to run in the background).
So as I start this stressful journey, I figured there were some parents out here already doing this (or trying) and could suggest.
Thanks.
invasion of privacy much.
**** if i had a gps tracker on me when i was a kid i woulda lived a very sheltered life. kids need to be able to lie about where there going occasionally don't take all the3 fun out of being a teenager

Lookout is similar to Norton, as far as blocking sites, I'm unsure whether it does that or not. Sprint offers family tracker for a monthly fee, I don't know of any other ones available.
Mobile Security offers parental controls for android. Check it out, free on the market.
twiztidninja - when its your kid, we can talk. If you have already and simply don't care of "never my kid" then that's another issue.
When I was a kid, well if we were lucky enough to get a playboy or something, it was the world. Now a simple mistype on a URL can bring hardcore porn as well as other sick things the internet has to offer and that's something I don't want to expose my 11 year old daughter (not a teenager as you assumed) to. The fact is it's a different and sick world now, and I don't have a problem with her going places, just want to know she is safe as best as I can. As for "kids need to lie", well maybe in your life that's acceptable, but were raising our kids differently. Then again, from your grammer and profanity on a public forum, I can see we already differ on other issues.
Twolazyg - thanks, http://www.mobiflock.com/ seems to be in beta and really looks like a great app and I will check the others as well.

Flash on HTC One M7

I had a trial with the S4 but returned it due to my eyes hating the display compared to my old Samsung Infuse super clear, bright display. I had disabled every bit of bloatware and successfully installed Adobe flash player, and could play flash videos on sites through certain browsers (Boat and Dolphin). I must be able to watch flash American Sign Language videos so I would like to know of others experiences with the HTC One worked well, or not, for flash videos after installing flash player as I had on the S4.
Thanks...
Flash works on stock browser bu default. It is also an option to enable/disable in stoxk browser's settings

Yes, that is what the S4 stock browser supposedly did also but in reality it did not. That's why I'm wanting to know of users real life experiences playing various videos on different web pages before I buy the ONE. The display of the ONE is so far superior to the S4!

I haven't tried it much, but it worked fine in the couple of times I did. Do you have a particular website you'd like me to try?
Also, if there's a store nearby, you could go try out specific sites yourself.

Thank you... I just spent the day trying to find a live HTC One in the 'big' city area of Vermont. There were plenty of S4, but only mock-ups of the ONE. Best Buy, Walmart and several AT&T stores only had the fakes.... and the AT&T corporate store was beyond rude and ignorant!
The most important videos need my login info. On the following page there is a video on the top right side and also the lower right side, http://www.lifeprint.com/that that would be a good start.
Another site is http://www.signingsavvy.com/browse.php
Type a simple word in the search box and a video should come up to play.
That would be a big help. Thanks...
Who uses flash anymore? =)

Unfortunately, most of the American Sign Language sites, especially those with thousands of word sign videos. ASL is completely visual, no voice. An ASL site programmer I know said it's been an absolute nightmare since the new phones and tablets have been phasing out flash and there are so many different platforms dealing with it differently.

On the first site, I couldn't get the upper-right video to play. It showed up as a flash movie, but the play button didn't work. The video in the lower-right seemed to work, though.
Couldn't test the second site, as it says a login is required to search.
Thanks for trying...
Much appreciated!

I know Lifeprint.com is trying, but they and many of the other sites have such a massive amount of video files from decades of individual vocabulary word signs, etc. It is a major job that has not gone smoothly. Think of changing format of each word in an unabridged dictionary (visual only). On each and every ASL site I use there are people writing in daily about their devices not able to play the videos... Mac, Windows, IOS, Android, and all of the individual variables from before and after the flash/HTML5 upheaval. Most of these people are not particularly cyber-tech savvy and just need to be able to watch the videos to learn ASL. I have severe hearing loss and can not use hearing aids so I have been trying to learn sign for several years. In the beginning the issues were only my own brain not being on board to learn ASL easily,.... now I am beyond frustrated with the videos and sites I depend on almost every day not working as they should.
My Infuse is in the dark ages (Froyo) with flash, but I can play most of the videos and use the ASL sites. When I had the trial with the S4, I could watch some of the videos and sites after installing flash player and a specific version of Dolphin and Boat browsers. They had many quirks though.... a video would show up but be unresponsive to touch, or the video show would play and act fine but not be able to be zoomed so it would be too tiny to see clearly. Before I had installed Flash Player none of the sites worked at all. My friend has an Iphone and Ipad and is often unable to use the ASL sites and videos. Some sites I have given up with but some I must be able to use.
Most youtube videos will play on the new phones. It's the non-youtube videos that I need to be able to watch and interact with.
AT&T had my returned S4 sitting lost somewhere in their warehouse until I had a chat and they found it. Now I am waiting for them to process and say I am able to update. I also keep hoping that HTC quality control will be improve and the Ones will come through with fewer issues. My old Infuse seems to be working better since they reactivated it with a new sim so maybe I will just wait a bit longer rather than adding another possible $36 return fee.
I use Maxthon browser to play flash websites. You can set it up to play flash always when you go to settings. It's free on play store.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, Minicoop. I had tried Maxthon browser a few times on my Infuse, my Galaxy Tab 8.9, and the S4 trial. It did not handle the specific videos I need to play well at all. I have really seen that since html5 has become the norm, all browsers that supposedly play flash websites do not play the videos I need to watch without issues or at all.
Just a confirmation about not using tools to root.

I graduated for Comp Sci&Tech & I've been open source w/ android for a year. I spent 6 months studying the development of android and how it functions I have successfully rooted my h1m7 s-off, superclocked, & nodded the hell out of it I've done the sane with Samsung s gs4 and converted my HP touchpad to Android I wouldn't spend 1penny for an iPhone! Back to the point experimenting with the touchpad I have bricked 2 times and it can be very frustrating ! First time took about 12hrs to fix and when bricked it may be permanently destroyed. So take heed when the developers tell u to know what your doing before flashing. The ones that don't listen brick and then plead,& demand, help like these guys are have nothing better to do. My apologies if this sounds harsh but this could save our $1000 smartphone! I am no professional I'm just in accord with Skizzy.

Silly Goose, we are not talking about flashing a phone. We are talking about getting a phone to play flash media which few newer phones support.
