Does the sgs 2 work on tmobile's network? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will the SGS 2 work on tmobile's network?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

UK yes .
jje

But not on the T-Mobile USA network for 3g or 4g.

I take it you're Greek?
Greece has the same telecommunications standards as the UK and other parts of Europe, as far as I know. So just get a European version and you'll be fine

yah u ll only be able to use the edge network on it as the poster above said no 3g or 4g

galaxy s II works on tmobile 4g network usa??

I am really itching to get this phone, as my contract is going to be done within weeks. I know that the EU version wont support tmobile 4g. How about the Canadian version??? the bell/ virgin galaxy s II 4g. Would this version work tmo usa??
Check the bands. Google it. If they're the same then it will work. AT&T's 4G network will work with European and Canada's will also I believe.

that's the problem, I am new to this stuff and willing to learn. Let's start with what BAND is, and how do I check that BAND.
I am not 100% sure. But I believe that it well not work on T-Mobile USA 4G network. It uses different frequencies. If the SGS II ever comes out on Rogers then it will work on T-Mobile USA.

You are right. And once the merger goes through the T-Mobile 3 and 4g phones wont work on 3 or 4g. This was already stated by att and tmobile

By that time the Galaxy S III will come out lol. But I will definitely love the HSPA+ speeds on my SGS II.
If you really want it either:
1) Switch to AT&T, you will get 4G speeds
2) Wait for the Samsung Hercules to come out on T-Mobile (Should be this or next month)
In the end, all people who buy T-Mobile phones now will eventually suffer later on. ;D

T-Mobile?

Is there a version of the Galaxy S II that currently supports T-Mobile 3G bands?
BUMP.......
No, not yet.
Do we have an ETA?
Yes read any tech web site on Aug 29th.

I'm on Orange, which also shares the T-Mobile network. I have 3G.
Sorrry - TMO US
Anyone?
I guess since no one could answer, there is no 3G nor 4G for SGS2 users with T-Mobile US sim-card yet. I wonder why, it should work.
Is there a ROM that would make it work with TM US with 3G or 4G?
There is really nobody here who was checking it?

It doesn't work because the phone doesn't have the correct bands for T-Mobile US network. It requires both 1700/2100 bands to work because one is for upload and the other for download.
This little (S2)ucker was just announced by Samsung to become available in US matrket by the end if this month with ATT Sprint and Tmobile. Cant wait to grab one.

A few questions

1. Will a British Ace work in Canada?
2. If so, what's the cheapest, safest, easiest way to network unlock it?
I have the british ace and the 3g bands are NOT compatible with rogers or fido. The only gsm providers with 3g on the SGA bands are wind and mobilcity. Works great in toronto. I bought mine unlocked so can't help you there.

IMHO. reflash with ROM suitable with your area may solve the problem... just guessing

Wrong guess, the phone may not be using the bands in the region.

My friend wants a new phone and i have my ace sitting there doing nothing, just don't know if it would work there

can i9100 work on Tmobile's 3g & 4g today?

I know that it couldn't 5 months ago,but I don't know if it works today...
And if the international version doesn't work on Tmobile 3g and 4g, how about the Tmobile version of Galaxy S2(T989)?

Unfortunately it still doesn't work now and for the unforeseeable future it wont ever work.
Luckily the tmobile sgs2 does work on tmobiles network.
nope i got mine in europe and the antenna hardware acquires different frequency than the one in the US. Just google search "T-mobile frequency"
I thought there was a version from asia that had a aws band. And are any of you using the europe one on T-Mobile? If so how are slow is 2g?

ok!I give up buying the international version since I live in The US......
So,how about ATT version(i777)?does it work on Tmobile 3g and 4g?
It's just because ATT version is cheaper, and so is Tmobile's plan.

how to get 3G with AT&T? i got only 2G
1.) Make sure your phone is 3g capable
2.) Make sure you live in a 3g area, which most of the country is.

DANG..!! I have the exact same problem. Makes we wonder if Straight Talk's AT&T SIM may be the problem? I live in an HSPA+ area, but only get EDGE speeds... Ridiculous!
I wish someone here had an answer??
Thanks!
