Where are the 3rd party accessories!?!? - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

Its been over 2 months since the release of the TF.. where are the 3rd party accessories for this thing? There are covers/cases and screen protectors, but thats about it. I've been waiting patiently for some chargers and data cables to come out.. but nothing so far. Are there any out there that I'm not seeing.. anything in the works?

I to am wondering why we are not getting any love from the likes of BodyGlove or OtterBox. I WANT a hard shell case just like all the other tablets. I don't plan on getting a keyboard dock for my transformer and maybe thats why there are no cases, they think everyone is going to get the keyboard as an accessory. Is ASUS keeping the after market companies from making these things? It is a shame really.

Check the other threads under accessories. Cables are chargers are available now.

I cant find any thirdparty available cables? Which threads do you mean? Just want a replacement cable as a backup. And as yet only Asus is offering them and only in the US as far as I can see.

I've seen Asus is selling the power adapter/cable.. but for $40 and still just a 3ft cable.. Havent seen anything about a 3rd party adapter or cable. I tried my luck with a usb 3.0 extension cable.. but that didnt work out very well so I hesitate to try another and end up with another useless cable

You are right, sorry. I misread your OP, missed the thirdparty bit.
What I want is a small USB host adapter that plugs into either the dock or tablet proprietary port, and it must have a female 2.5mm charging port. This would allow connection of both charging via 2.5mm plug and plugging in a USB device simultaneously.
Now THAT would be an accessory!!!! In our dreams?....

I just want a hard shell case that surrounds the tablet, think we will ever see them? Other tablets have them already. I emailed BodyGlove and they replied back saying they had no plans on making a case, they suck.

Apparently, Trident case is making one for TF. They make cases similar to otterbox. I am hoping that they make Kraken case for the TF.

I bought a $5 USB 3.0 cable from newegg, and it works great to extend the standard charging cable.

[Q] Cigarette lighter mount for RHOD210

Has anyone come across a cigarette lighter mount for the GSM TP2 that will also charge the device? It has to be for the GSM version as the CDMA ones have their usb port mounted slightly to the left of center where the GSM versions are mounted.
I found two different ones so far. One is a universal one made by Arkon and seems to be less sturdy than it should be. It has a pass-through 12v port to plug in a charger to it. It only concerns me that the way it is made, it seems to not be sturdy enough based on the reviews.
The other one is made by iGrip and is pretty nice. It is made for the TP2, but it has no power option at all. If this would have a charging port on it, it would be perfect.
Anyone else seen any other options?

I use this: http://www.bracketron.com/products/universal-usb-power-dock
I got it from Radio Shack with a 1 year warranty just in case. I did have it break on me but that's because I wasn't using it right. I was within the 30 day return period so i returned it an got a new one. If you do get it make sure you press the red button when adjusting the angle. I would still recommend ti since it has everything I was looking for. I doubt you'll be able to have the keyboard open, but why would you need it open while driving?

I'm still searching for something similar. I like that one, I'm just worried about having the charging cable hanging out of it. The plug only needs to be a standard USB plug. I would imagine there would be another phone or device that would require something of this sort. Also, I don't need the keyboard open while using this.

Yea that's what I initially wanted when I set out my search but ended up settling for this. My apologizes on accusing you of wanting to use the keyboard while driving. After re-reading your op I didn't see that mentioned like I thought I did before. For charging my phone I use one of these pretty good quality and it comes with a micro usb adapter which i liked since a lot of newer phones are using this. Best wishes on your search!!

Hmmmm..... That combined with the universal mount you posted might actually work nicely. I was concerned about my current HTC car charger as it has a rather long cord. This would likely eliminate that mess. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
Anyone know where I could find a short miniUSB to USB cable. Something like 2" or so would be fine. This might be able to complete the homebrew mount I'm working on.
Short USB Cable
Amazon.com has a 1ft cable (can't post links yet) and 3 ft cables, although I haven't seen any 2ft cables. If you need 2ft you could pick up a gender changer (also available on amazon) and link two 1ft cables together.

Short cable!

Being the type of person who doesn't like to put charge cycles on a battery if I don't need to, I like keeping things plugged in when I use them. PLEASE ASUS, sell me a cable that is longer then two feet. i can barely put my tablet on my side table because it pulls the cord. Now, my "hidden" needs to be way out in the open for things to reach... I will pay good money for a LONG cable

Doesnt specify which usb type that cable is in the listing. Just says 30inches long. So I would say that was USB 2.0 as well. Theyre usually blue tipped if they are usb 3 btw and theyre new so theyre not cheap.

I went the other way round... instead of getting a USB extension cable, I assembled a power cord extension cable
I had all the spare parts lying around, so it cost me exactly $0, and maybe 5 minutes of my time...
Has anyone confirmed the 3.0 extension cable works? I I just tried and tested transformer doesn't charge through it. What is worse though is that I breaks the normal charger. I had to unplug everything for 20 minutes to get it to charge again.

I purchased a USB 3 Cable that has the correct amount of pins needed to be used as an extension cable (Male to Female) with the Asus charger, so with a 2 meter cable i can now sit on the sofa with it plugged into the charger to get full charge whilst using the transformer.
Saves having to put it down close to a power point to charge it with the silly short cable that it came with.

I'm sure it will charge fine, but pretty sure you won't be able to use it as a data cable to your pc. I've seen a lot of people confusing usb 2.0 with usb 3.0 cables. Be careful as they are very different.

[Q] Good Micro USB Cable?

Does anyone know where I can find a micro USB cable replacement that is compatible with Samsung's drivers?
My original cable crapped out, so I bought a Gigaware to replace it; phone charges fine.
However, know matter which drivers I try (or cpu), I can no longer get a cpu to recognize my phone.
And I of course need this functionality in order to use Odin (yay!).
T-mobile does not sell the original cable.
Any ideas or advice?
Thanks!
Idk but I do know LG does not work I've tried 3 different ones so far. No joy. So avoid those. Its not much but I hope it helped.

only $1 here with waaaay much better reviews than the one you posted.
I'd personally think that the RIM brand is better quality build, though I could be wrong, and as far as reviews go, the cable I bought was nice and sturdy and can take quite a beating and works just fine :-/ To each his own!
Went with the cable from monoprice because shipping was MUCH cheaper.
Will post results on receipt.
On a recent stopover in Hong Kong, I bought several cheapie cables. These ended up being neither cheap, nor functional. They cost $2-3 each. And were only good for providing power to the phone.
At home, I have several cables from various devices (e.g. Logitech Harmony remotes, Blackberry, Motorola ...). All of these cables work just fine.
So the moral of the story is to stay away from cheapie no-name brand cables.

These cheap no brand cables are rare and useful. Try charging with them. Many of them charge 2X as fast as a normal cable, as the device recognizes the charging as 'AC' instead of 'USB'

I picked up a 3ft and 6ft lengths in black and "splurged" the extra few cents to get ferrite cores and the thicker gage power wiring (28/24 vs. 28/28 as they list it).
In comparison to the Samsung OEM cable, they have "chunkier" heads with harder and thicker plastic. They don't interfere with the phone housings in any way and are much more cat-proof. My cat made swiss cheese out of the ends of one of my Samsung cables.
The thicker gage wiring option is nice if you anticipate cable abuse (stepping on it, pinching the cable in doorways, etc) - great for vehicles and small kids. The thicker wiring does however results in a notably stiffer cable, so I can't easily wrap one tightly around my palm, for example.
For the prices they charge you could easily get many for the "price of one" in a brick and mortar store, so if you're one to deliberate to excess you could just order a few different options knowing you'll get something to your liking .
FYI - the best cable for Samsung phones and drivers are the blackberry ones IMHO there chunky on the tip and the wire is thicker than SAMMY's good luck everyone

Well, I'm thinking about just buying a micro usb to usb B cable converter.
Then, just go to any thrift store and buy a USB B cable that would come with a printer. Those things are everywhere and cheap. Unfortunately I've only seen the converter online, and it sells for 7USD.

Best place in Canada to buy a KNOWN WORKING USB extension cable for the TF?

I have tried 3 different brands of USB 2.0 cables and come to the conclusion that only true USB 3.0 would work with the TF (though I would LOVE to be proven wrong).
Where are people getting their extension cables? I refuse to believe that people are living with this horribly short charging cable. It doesn't even reach from my outlet to my desk without an extension cord.
Normally I buy cables like this from Monoprice or DealExtreme or dollar stores, but in this case i would rather find one that someone knows works. I have checked in The Source and Future Shop and could not find any USB 3.0 extension cables.
There is a thread about it called "Short Cable".
Some have bought from amazon.com. Some from Monoprice.
Since I'm in Canada as well, I saw some at Canada Computers and are $10 for 3ft and 13 for 6ft.

Dealextreme Asus transformer chargers

I recently saw that Dealextreme is stocking two wall chargers for the Asus Transformer series of tablets
One with the proprietary connector built in

and one with a 15v USB port

has anyone tried them? I think I'll order the one with the proprietary connector, and so if it fails, I'll still have the connector to tinker. Also, if it works, I'll get to keep the cable at home, protected, instead of in my messenger bag.
I have tried the one with the 15v USB port - and it works just fine.
