On stock there was option but on cm7 there is only wifi network sharing not usb? Any way to get same?

So the problem is that when I connect my phone to my desktop PC (Win7 x64) via cable and try to tether when connected to WiFi it does NOT work (shows No internet access), BUT when I use mobile network to tether it DOES work.
Again to recap: i want to get internet to work on my desktop pc via usb tethering where source of the internet would be WiFi.
Where is the problem? Or is it not even supposed to work like that?
Using LG P500 rooted with Z4root and with mik_os kernel. The problem has been both before and after rooting/flashing.
you can use the wifi teethher to provide other devices the internet available to your phone via the mobile network only.
if wifi is the source of internet on your phone then the computer will not have internet access through the phone via usb teether.
why is that so? is there any fix or hack for that?
I think that isn't hack for this.

that is because your phone is not a wifi lan card. it can work like a modem and even computer modems dont access internet via wifi.

I'm trying to share my wifi connection on the P500 to a laptop via usb so I can access internet on the laptop through the P500.
Is this possible?It works with the data connection but I need also with wifi.

Can't u spend 20$ and get a wifi dongle ..
That's called USB tethering and it as easy as selecting the USB tethering option from settings. And it should work with wifi also. (I haven't tried it.)

I am trying to share my WIFI connection over USB to my PC with the built-in tethering function but it is not working...
Sounds weird because if I disable my wifi on my Atrix, my phone share my 3g connection to my PC with usb tethering without any issue but once I enable my wifi and connect to my AP, I am no longer able to share anything...
When my phone is connected to wifi and USB tethering enabled, the only thing I can ping is my localhost (lol) and my gateway wich is my cell phone.
Anyone has an idea why? And if possible to have a workaround without having to install anything on my PC?

Does it NEED to be usb tether? You can just download "barnacle" on your phone and make it a wifi hot spot for free.

Yes... It need to be USB. I try to share a wifi connection to my work PC that doesn't have wifi card.
Is it possible to share PC internet connection on my X10Mini via USB cable, because I don't have WiFi router. I saw something with Netfilter is this about that kind of tethering? Thanks.
why dont you try easytether from the market? you have to use the usb cable for it to work.
Or barnacle wifi tether and use your wifi from your phone.
PS:you are using your phone as a modem right?
You misunderstood me obviously, I want to use Internet connection from PC on my mobile phone because I can't connect to my PC beacuse I don't have WiFi router, so is it possible to share the internet connection from my PC to my mobile phone via USB cable

My method i use is to have wifi. share the modem or network from the windows pc and connect the phone via wifi and then browse the internet.

So I'm using USB tethering and the connection would drop a lot, maybe every 10 minutes. I used to own a Samsung Vibrant and I had the same problem with USB tethering back then as well and I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. If anybody could offer a solution that would be great. I cannot use mobile hotspot because my desktop does not have a wifi adapter and I would prefer to use USB tethering if possible.
I'm using CapRomAlpha.
I tried using PdaNet but it keeps telling me that I have to start USB Tether Mode on the phone which of course I had... (it does tell me that my phone is connected)
On another note, my USB debugging icon is not appearing at the top even though it is enabled.
Matbe its the rom... Ive never had problems with it
