Is there any way to remove Facebook from my unrooted stock HDC Flyer (Best Buy 16GB WiFI)?
It keeps asking me to agree to the licensing and no matter what I select, it comes up every couple of days.
It's dRivING me nuTZ!!!!!!!!
The only way that I know of that you can remove "bloatware" is being rooted, and using an app like Titanium Backup or using adb in Android SDK to remove it. If Uninstall is grayed out in Menu - Settings - Manage Applications area for FB, then root is required.

I have games on my S2 called Uno and N.O.V.A.. They came with the recent ICS upgrade from Bell Canada. How can I remove these programs. I have tried going in under applications and trying to remove them but I don't have the option. My only option is to clear data or move them to phone.
The only way is to root your phone then you can use a program like Titanium backup to freeze or uninstall any application.

Root your phone, then download Root Explorer or similar app from Google Play Store, and then navigate to /system/app directory, make sure your phone has read/write permissions, and delete them. If you don't want to root your phone, your stuck with them then.

I have unlocked the bootloader of my new AT&T HTC One 64 GB, installed CWM and rooted.
When I started my phone, google play stated that there were updates to a lot of apps (like Chrome, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon kindle etc) which are all system apps. So I went ahead, updated them. Then as usual, I went to titanium backup and integrated the updates into rom/system. I cleaned Dalvik and cahce. When I restarted, google play said again that the same apps are out of date and wanted to re-update them. And sure enough when I checked versions on them, they were the old ones.
So decided to go the "make these system apps normal apps" e.g. move them out of the rom to data, update, move them back to system app directory. Same problem here, after a restart old versions in the rom showed up again.
Then I decided to un-install the apps. When I un-install them through titanium backup, after a restart they are back.
Like a bad nightmare.... Any ideas?

Same for me :
My ATT HTC One is unlocked and rooted already with CWM no-touch installed.
I installed ES File explorer as well as Titanium Backup Pro and gave both root privileges when they asked for them via Super SU
I can "Uninstall", via titanium backup, all the bloatware apps but when I reboot they come back.
Similarly, through ES File explorer I run the root explorer section and choose to uninstall system apps. I then successfully remove the bloatware, but it again comes back upon reboot.
Are there any other methods I can try or any successful bloatware removals for the One from anybody here? Is it a matter, as another thread about the Incredible suggested, a matter of the kernel not allowing writes to the /system while running? If so, how do I remove bloatware from Recovery?

any we need a kernel that allowed writing to the /system to stop this htc added some new code
It's because the kernel does not allow the /system partition to be modified. You need to flash a kernel that has the security disabled. I'm running the Renovate rom from the Intl One forums and that kernel has security disabled and works fine on the AT&T version

On my backup phone, i was messing around and installed kingroot... a total malware.
Then, i formatted by phone and still kingroot is there. Tries deleting from kingroot settings but cant.
Plz inform how the hell shall i completely remove this sh*t?
Not an advanced user hence wont be able to understand complicated removal procedures.

If your device has root access, you can remove King root with other applications or from the King root settings. Uninstall the application with link2sd. If you can not delete the application, you will have to install the stock rom.

Thanks , but after three dots -> i have option to uninstall OR convert to user app.
Under both i get the same error:
"Link2SD could not obtain root access.
Maybe as i formatted my phone, i am no longer rooted and hence the error.
Also, i tried disabling Kingroot from phones builtin "Applications manager" and yes it seems disappeared from my App list on phone, Is it safe to say its no longer working on my phone even in background ?

The application that you deactivated will not run again, but if it really was malware, it probably installed other malware applications. I recommend you to do a complete analysis with several antivirus programs starting with Dr. Web.
I'm a developer and advanced Android user. All my previous phones were rooted.
Now, instead of my OnePlus with Android 11, I got an ASUS ROG Phone with Android 12. But today I'm asking myself a question:
Is it still worth having a phone with ROOT in 2022?
There are certainly many reasons to have ROOT. In my case in particular:
- AdAway in ROOT mode.
- The ability to backup and restore app data (like game accounts).
- The ability to terminate running processes using the 3C All-inOne Toolbox.
The problem is that some apps don't work on a phone with ROOT:
- Banking apps
- Card payment
- Microsoft Teams
Yes, I have the latest Magisk with Universal SafetyNet Fix and in Zygisk mode I hide ROOT from all Microsoft and Google apps. Yet from time to time Microsoft Authenticator will evaluate the phone as unsafe and refuses to run Teams.
I would like to get rid of the ROOT issues already and have a phone without ROOT. Finally, AdAway can run in VPN mode as well.
The question is how to transfer app data like game accounts from the old phone to the new one without ROOT. Google backup only restores about half of the apps on the original phone.
I used to always use Titanium, but that doesn't work without ROOT. Today Swift Backup works, but even that needs ROOT. Shizuku mode doesn't help in this case either.
So today I see it as the best option for me:
1. Unlock the bootloader.
2. Temporary ROOT the new phone.
3. Restore apps with data.
4. Lock the bootloader - in case the Microsoft Authenticator detects the unlocked bootloader.

As you've already discovered, the main advantage to rooting is the ability to do backups. There are solutions to the the Banking apps and Card payment problems, which may or may not work for your particular apps. There are also alternatives to Microsoft Authenticator. Only you can determine if these alternative solutions are worth the benefit of being able to backup your data.
The AdAway problem is easily solved. Use AdGuard DNS, which does not require root.
