[Q] Charging time - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I understand that, the charging time is between 5 and 6 hours.
Can you guys confirm this?
Is any thread on what we can do to charge the tablet fastest?
My 10.1 tablet (wifi only) will come in 1-2 days, and i did not know the tablet have such a big time to charge.
I will try also to change the stock rom, any advice please?
Thanks in advance..i will appreciate.

5 to 6 hours sounds about right for a full charge, probably closer to 5 hours. The battery has a large capacity so it's going to take a while to charge from empty. As far as ROMs go if you want an Android 3.2 ROM Galaxy Task or Overcome are popular, if you want Android 4.0 there are some CM9 ICS alpha releases that you could try.

Lol. Mine probably takes 5 hours charging from 40%. No worries though, slow charging is better for the battery. Also keep in mind this battery is about 5 times bigger than an average smartphone battery.

slower the better
it gives me around 4-5 hours of charging from 1 % left. i prfer it discharging full
then charging

4 ½ to 5 hours from 0 to 100 %
It's not a problem. You just have to charge it while you are sleeping

Thanks all, the time is big anyway, lets look to xoom, it have 2-3 hours max to a full charge, and others too, 3 hours. Ah..

That is not healthy for a lithium polymer battery. I only do this once in a while to recalibrate the battery reading.

So..that means we cannot make the charging time to be short..

Charging

I am wondering whether the charging methods make a difference to battery life?
How do you charge your battery, and also your initial charge from new?
This is the first phone I've had that I didn't leave the initial charge on all night 16 hours initial as recommended by most phone manufacturers, and I just took it off after a few hours when it was charged up. Do you think that affects the performance of the battery? I've never charged it for more than a few hours. The main reason I don't leave it on all night is because it gets really hot, so when it goes green light, it's done for me
Do any of you let it run out past the amber warning colour as a completely flat battery is probably better to charge?
All my other phones were left on charge all night, every night, but they weren't this type of phone.... and in truth, it makes no difference whatsoever to the battery. The Motos also needed charging every day
Stunning work guys, 56 views by people I can only assume own the Hero, and nobody wants to divulge their dirty secrets about battery charging... Thanks anyway
Just look around google for Li-ion recharging, there is plenty of resources to read up on when trying to keep battery life at a maximum.

probably because the hero is so new that nobody can tell anything about the battery life? and i don't suppose any of the 56 people has two heros and did the experiment of charging one full and the other for 16 hours, only to use them in the same manner afterwards and count battery life... ?

Yeh, that wasn't actually my point, but thanks anyway!
112 now...
I was wondering how many people just got the phone, and charged it 16 hours initially or couple of hours and go, and do they leave on all night despite it getting hot.
Not hard...
You should charge it until it is fully charged but not leave it on charge extensively - excess heat may cause the battery life to reduce (although I wouldn't know how much degradation this would cause). It is probably ok every once in a while to leave it on charge overnight, in theory the phone should have circuits to protect against overcharging it anyway. 2 hours is about right for a charge cycle. You should charge it when the phone advises to do so - 15% or less charge. The Lithium Ion battery will only recharge cycle effectively a minimum of 300 times but I would estimate conservatively that is the number of times you can recharge. 2 days between recharges would give you about 2 years life out of a battery. I recharge it every two days, and charge time is about 2 hours.
Yeh, I have to charge it every day though......... Never lasts longer. I just wondered if you were supposed to do the initial first charge overnight and whether it sets the standard for the length of time you get each day after that?
i guess every hero is different. longest i used my phone without charging is 2 days with moderate use.
before i charge my phone i kill all tasks in the background and clear my browser history. might not make a difference but to me it feels better to have a fresh phone after charge.
Is that with the task killer app, or is there another way?
I can't imagine mine ever lasting 2 days.....

I'm using TaskPanel as a taskiller...
when i got the hero the battery was ~half full. i charged it for about half an hour, but had to stop the charging before it was full.
the battery doesn't last longer than one day, although i play a lot with it (obviously). when i put it to the charger i try to let it charge fully up, and i noticed that the charging is stopped when the battery is full (you see the icon in the not.bar go back to normal green battery, and the phone cools down noticably after charging is completed). concerning this i have no problem to leave it plugged in overnight. checked last night, when NOT plugged in it takes 4% of battery for ~7 hours in airplane mode.

[Q]chargingtime

how long is your charging time....on and off
Full charge within less than an hour (I don't bother fo check the exact time)
Are you sure? Mine takes about 4 hours.

are you serious????
From a dead tab, that won't even start with the charging cable in it, it takes almost 2 hours, depends on which apps you have installed and running in your tab also your brightness can make charging hard, if you want the tablet to charge faster, the you have to shut down your tab and then charge
I discharge my tablet completely, then it takes about 4 n half hours to fully recharge and in sleep mode battery discharges like 1% every 12 hours, and with heavy use it sucks the complete juice in 8-9 hours.
So I always charge by Folded Magazine for 5 hours..
ok thanks....
on the webpages they say 5h charging time...
mine is 3h with tab switched off...so i´m wondering...maybe with tab in use...
anybody else?

That's what I usually do - I'll charge my tablet when the Low Battery warning beeps for the second or third time and it takes not more than an hour to get it fully charged.
I did time the charging this evening when only 2% battery life is left and it took 1 hour 35 mins to charge it to 100%. My tablet is 3 months old and there are 29 apps installed (excluding those pre-installed) and HK is on 220 voltage.
Brightness on my machine is set to Automatic.

Average battery life and charging time??

Hello, i bought samsung galaxy s2 2 days ago and im on the second charging, how long does it take for a battery to fully calibrate??
And what is the average battery life and charging time?
I charge arround 15% in 30min, and my battery lasted for 6 hours after the first charge is this normal for a new battery?
Sry i my english is not perfect...

1. After about 3 - 5 cycles, the battery should be perfect.
2. Charging time is about 2.5 hrs or more.
-If you leave / off your phone while charging, then it should be full in about 2.5 hrs.
-If you are playing with the phone while charging, then it will take much longer
3. Average battery life is subjective and unpredictable, because it depends on so many factors.
- For me, my battery last for about 10 hrs of moderate - heavy usage (4 hrs of screen on time in average)
4. The fact that your battery lasted for 6 hrs after first use is normal. It's just your first sleep with your newly wedded wife.
Swyped from my Galaxy SII
Give it some days to fully settle and 4/5 cycles of fully charge/discharge and then the stats of you battery will be perfect (more or less).
I can get up to six and a half hours of screen usage, with a total of 15 hours of battery life
Sent from my GT-I9100
-.
After the second charge my battery can stand for over 20h... With average use it has life for 10-12h...
How to clear the cached process in the settings - applications tab?
this depends on what apps and configuration and settings you have on your device
Takes 2.5-3 hours to charge when the phone is on and about 2-2.5 hours when the phone is of f.
As for the battery life, lol, it depends on many factors, you know roms, kernel, modem etc.i can get only three hours, because I'm a gamer.nova 3 and mc3 all day and i can get 16 hours on moderate use .6 hours of screen on
Hit thanks if i have helped you......

[Q] Battery Charge Cycle/Some Questions

Hi people . I wanted to ask some questions:
1 - I heard that the battery prefers a 85% charge rather than a 100% charge because the battery has a limited full charges, is that true?
2 - So if question 1 is true, then by theory it was the same thing as saying: If i always charge it to 85% or 90% then my battery will never die because it never had a Full 100% charge xD , so i think there's something missing in this theory because no battery lasts forever xD, what is it? xD.
3 - When i charge to 100%, it fast drains to 90%. But if i charge 100%, reboot the phone ( it will have 97/98% something like that ), charge it again till it reaches 100% a 2nd time, the battery slowly drains 1% or less in every hour starting with 100% battery.
Is this normal? Or doing this 2nd charge will make the battery die faster/battery with less life?
4 - Full discharges are not recommended, so that means we have to avoid the battery getting 0% right? Or there is a time when we must make battery go to 0%?
5 - Full charges are also not recommend, recommended is frequent charges. Does that mean that i should unplug the cable when the led is green at 90%? instead of 100%?, does the battery last longer if i unplug it on 90% instead of 100%?
6 - If i have battery on 20% and then make some consecutive little charges until it reaches 90%, does it hurt my battery on battery life or is this normal?. Making this or charge 20% to 90% directly is the same thing?.
7 and final question - When the charge cycle of the battery reaches it's 2-3 years limit, will it still be usable ( even with less life ) or we must really recycle it and buy a new one?
Thanks in advance mates , I'll click the thanks button to the people that answer the questions properly, because i want to do it, because that means you helped me .
Cheers
1 No
2 You said it already, if 1 would be true then the battery would never die, so 1 can't be right
3 When you charge it to 100% leave it to charge for a little bit longer (10=15 mins), it will fast-drain less (mine goes to 98% in an hour or so and less than 1% after that)
4 Never let it go empty
5 Charge it when it's somewhere between 10% and 25%
6 See 3
7 Battery life will slowly deteriorate. If I hardly use my phone, I can get to 4, 4.5 days on one charge, you will notice it gets down to say, 3.5 to 4 days, then to 3 days... When it gets too short, change your battery.

3 - Reboot and charge again or charge to 100% 15/20min more is what i also do, but my doubt was about if it was safe to do that ( because i always heard that it isn't recommended to let the phone charge more time when it reaches 100% because it starts to lose force quicker ), but if you're sure about this then ok i'll continue doing it thinking it's safe to do xD.
4 - Phones really get a strong evolution holy s... xD now it's the reverse of before, because before it had to go to 0% or the battery would vitiate xD.
6 - Yes, but the question is if making consecutive charges ( without reaching 100% ) hurt the battery performance? example: i plug the usb cable phone to pc, that way the phone will automatically charge, then i unplug pc the charge stop, then i forgot something and plug usb again ) charge again ), then unplug, and then i plug the cable and charge it to 90% instead of 100% for example, it is hurting the battery life of the battery?.
7 - Wait, it's getting too short, but it's still usable?, if i use it more time it would explode in my face or give me a head shot? xD.
Thanks for the answers mate .
Cheers
About 4: With NiCd or Li-ion batteries i believe it's good to drain them every now and then, but our phone's have Li-Polymer batteries, and they go dead when they get too empty.
About 6: I don't think it hurts that much
About 7: If you're on nAa-s GB kernel, maybe going back to stock kernel for a while might help recover your battery. If not, it's maybe getting too old, but I don't think it will explode in your face. It doesn't get overly hot when you charge it does it?

4 - Li-ion i think it's only a little worse than Li-polymer in that drain thing, if it's a normal phone it will vitiate for sure ( i had many phones and they all vitiate ) but now i have a Lg gt400 smartphone Li-Ion and the battery seems very stable without vitiation now ( it vitiate in the beginning by lasting 3 days instead of the normal 5 days, now it's always 3 days ), and the phone i use now xperia mini pro x10 Li-Polymer it didn't vitiate or lose any strength, on the contrary i think it got better because now it lasts 3 days ( it would last 4 days if i didn't hear 1h music a day ) and in the beginning it only lasted 2 days and a half, this is crazy s... xD.
6 - Now it doesn't hurt, but maybe in time the effects will be more visible when the battery starts to lose capacity, that's what i'm afraid of :S xD.
7 - The battery status is Good now, i was referring to the future, if doing these consecutive charges don't hurt phone ( make it die faster than the normal 2-3 years of life ) then i'll stick with Naa-14 with Gb Rom, but yes if i start to feel that the phone is getting weird then i will go back to Eclair original. No it doesn't get hot, i don't overload the battery too much and i take good care of it xD, so that means that even when it's on the 3 year of life ( where the battery should be replaced by another ) i can still use it with no danger ( even if it only lasts a day because it's weak)?.
I also got a nokia 5700 for more than 4 years and the battery barely lasts a full day now but it never had any problems of getting hot or being crazy, so it's still safe right?. I don't wanna be killed by a phone xD kidding xD.

Question Charging levels?

Hi everyone!
Hope you're enjoying your S23 Ultra as much as I am!
I wanted to see if people were charging their phones to 100%, or utilizing the battery protection bit and charging only to 85%?
I charge it only to 85% and don't let it drop below 25%, what about you?
Thanks!
I created a routine to charge to 85% during work days as I'm home and I don't really care about full battery and 100% during the weekend as I tend to go out and I'd want every juice of it
I charge it every night on my wireless charger and as far as I remember it hasn't dropped below 40% yet.
I charge to 85% and never go below 30%... Long lasting battery for minimum 4 y like my old 10+... after 4 y still 5h of SoT...
That's amazing, thank you both! I've been charging it once every day and a half really! But that's with about 3.5 hrs of SoT and over a day with screen off time

same. I do took care of my battery and my almost 6yo oneplus5 had 4h SOT on a 3300mAh battery (+/- 9-10h sot day1) and uptodate app and rom. I never used fast charging.
After 5 years lithium battery will naturally loose +/-20%.
Then add your use, heat, nb of charge/discharge, you can add an other +/-20% lost.
I was about to change the battery of my OP5 simply to see when this phone will be slow, but in the mean time I dont pay for my phones and a 6yo phone is not that bad.
Pretty sure Ive could get it to 8y and still using all googleplay app no issue.

I do the same.
I switched from a 5 and a half years old S8+ which battery ended dying on me just 2 weeks before the S23 Ultra was released. I had bad habits with the S8+, letting it go often below 20, charging it always at 100 and even using it while charging.
With the S23 Ultra i want to do it right from the start, so 85 max and not below 25. Fingers crossed it will last longer than S8+, and i'm liking it so much that if i manage to keep it in good conditions i might have a the battery changed in 4 ou 5 years instead of switching phone again.
you always can do routine to help. During the day I rarely need to charge, and night I might be around 40%, so not enough to start a day.
- IF hours between 9hpm and 5ham > THEN battery protect 85% AND Battery saver ON.
So plugged during night will never get over 85%, around 30 min before wake up, the phone will charge up to 100% . So it will most likely never be plugged in @ 100% for long period of time.
I set it to 85%. I would struggle to kill this thing in a single day so why not?
Keep in mind that setting it to 85% doesn't stop battery wear if you leave it on the charger as it will keep charging itself every time it falls under 85%.
