TF101 VGA Adapter for the Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Since the VGA adapter for the TF201 is no where to be found, I was wondering if anyone has used this adapter with their Prime.

I believe it is for the TF101. I just wanted to make sure it would work before I order it.
I appreciate any feedback!

Nope. The prime has Micro-HDMI, not Mini.

Thanks for the reply! I realize I would have to get a mini to micro hdmi adapter, but I was wondering if it would work with the right adapter. I have read that some folks have had success with an HP hdmi-Vga adapter, so I thought the tf101 adapter might work for the Prime.

One thing to consider, depending on what you are using the vga for, is screen resolution. Most lcd projectors are in xga format (1024x768), but the Prime has either 720 or 1080p output. If you don't have something to scale the resolution, it probably won't work well.

If you decide to give it a try, at least get it for cheap

[Q] HDMI to VGA Adapter

There is an official HDMI to VGA adapter from Asus
However, I was wondering if third party adapters could work. I found one from dealextreme that is male-mini-HDMI-to-male-VGA adapter.
If Transformer supports analogue VGA signal via HDMI port, then I think it should work. If the official adapter has some additional D/A converter built-in (which I think is unlikely), then only the official cable will work.
Has anyone tried?
Could you please give us a pointer of the official HDMI to VGA from Asus?

It's not released yet.
Generic ones should work fine. But be prepared for some long chains. e.g. mini to regular HDMI, HDMI to DVI, DVI to VGA.

it really depends on the tablet, since HDMI is digital and VGA and DVI is analog, so it depends if the tablet actually gives a analog signal or not
if it doesn't you're gonna need a DAC to use VGA =/
Tried it?
Has anyone tried a mini hdmi to vga cable? If so please can they confirm.

Second here...tried it...not working
Ya it doesn't work for me too.
I suspect ASUS mapped the pins differently from the HDMI pins to the VGA pins. If ASUS can make the HDMI-to-VGA adapter work, that means the Transformer can already support analogue signal output from the HDMI port. Or else they would need a bigger adapter to do D/A conversion outside the tablet. If so, then once someone got hold of the mapping, it would be easy to mass produce a HDMI-to-VGA cable for the tablet.
FOTA Update?
If you have had the FOTA ASUS update and have a mini HDMI to VGA adapter please can you test. Looks like this update added support for the new Asus accessories, of which is the Asus VGA adapter.
I use the HP HDMI->VGA adapter and it works just fine. I need to use an adapter to convert to MiniHDMI.

you have that working on your transformer?
could you post a link to the exact model?
Working too here.
http://www.amazon.com/HP-HDMI-Vga-Display-Adapter/dp/B0038KFTZK
But, the official one is about 25$, and need no adapter. Soo if you dont have hurry, you may wait for it.
Beware that normal cable adapters may not work, since a digital - analogical convertion is needed.

Yes! The offical asus conveter is very similar, but already have the mini hdmi, but the adapter is small. Noticed that it may not be easy to found this adapter ina a retail store, I forgot to buy it online when I buyed the hdmi to vga converter. (Note: I saw some converter, with external power adapters, but this is clean, small and works!)

What. Digital Visual Interface, what's analog about it? DVI-I does analog too, but it's still a digital connection that can do analog. If the video card supports HDMI encryption with a cheap adapter DVI can even send HDMI signals.

Monoprice sells mini HDMI to HDMI adapters for $2 + s/h. It'll work with the HP HDMI to VGA converter. If there's some distance between the monitor and the tablet, Monoprice also sells mini HDMI to HDMI cables, up to 15 feet long. The 15 ft cable is about $5 + s/h.

TP HDMI-VGA Adapter?

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else...
Fortunately, Asus makes a micro-HDMI-to-VGA adapter cable for the TP:
http://www.asus.com/Peripherals_Accessories/Eee_Pad_Accessories/Micro_HDMI_to_VGA_cable/
So, is this *included* with the TP? I would hope so, but...
If it *isn't* included (!), where can it be purchased? I have seen no listings at all (yet) online anywhere.
As of right now they basically have no accessories for it out and no it is not included but I belive it is the same one as the Tf101 adapter...? Or the slider... Just search for eee pad hdmi-vga adapter
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
The only thing I have read so far is to be careful about purchasing the *wrong* adapter i.e. apparently the TF101 uses a 'mini-HDMI' port, whereas the TF201 uses a 'micro-HDMI' port.
Unfortunately, I seldom see companies supplying adaptors in the box with the device - they make more money selling it separately plus, this is a very uncommon cable. Vga is used much less often than hdmi...if ANYTHING maybe just a micro hdmi cable.

Mini HDMI type-C

Will this work with TF101. I have the standard HDMI cable laying around in my house and thought using this mini HDMI adaptor might work..
It will work, but I don't recommend that type since it puts a lot of stress on the connector and may cause it to fail earlier.
So which one do you recommend? There's some micro HDMI and some mini HDMI and there's type-d and so on.. kind of confuse!! Thanks!
I'm not into the super expensive type... a working one should be sufficient..
Use a cable that goes from the mini HDMI to the normal HDMI.

I have an amazon basics micro to standard hdmi. It works flawlessly, cost <10 bucks with Prime. One of the best purchases I've ever made for the tf101.

Do you have a picture of it? So I can buy the correct one..
The correct one should look just like a normal HDMI cable, except it would have a mini HDMI on one end.

Can you explain how you are using that? From the Asus webpage, it looks like it is female vga, but the connection on my monitor is also female. Do you have another adapter in between the cable and the monitor then?
Also, where did you purchase that? I could find it in the Asus product listing but not in their store.

You don't really need to buy from ASUS just look on ebay or amazon for a micro hdmi to vga male

Your normal vga kabel is male and can by connected.
if your using a 2e vga connect on your monitor you need a extra standard vga kabel

Micro HDMI to HDMI to DVI Television resolution

Hey Everyone. Not sure if this is normal, or just because of my setup mentioned above, but the resolution from my Prime to my HD TV isn't very good, and is very pixelated. Is this a normal thing for bringing a prime to a TV through HDMI, or
Is there something specific everybody else is doing, or does anyone know of a solution?
It may be because of the DVI, but my cable box uses that too and the picture there is great.
Thanks again for any help.

I haven't had good luck with HDMI-to-DVI adapters with my Prime either. In fact, the one that I tried didn't seem to work at all, even though they are supposed to be electrically compatible...
"Because HDMI is electrically compatible with the CEA-861 signals used by digital visual interface (DVI), no signal conversion is necessary, nor is there a loss of video quality when a DVI-to-HDMI adapter is used." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
I have not had a reason to use dvi yet. HDMI works great for me. I use it to stream movie s from my network-through the tf201-to the TV.
I do remember, now that i think of it, that i hooked up my prime to a tv in my office, the resolution was not very good. I will test it again today when I go to the office and report back.
You should try finding a a tv that has hdmi input and test that to see if there is a difference.
I'm just happy JB supports DVI. ICS did not and I have a projector with DVI-in. I decided to give it a quick try and it has some rather large pixels. I have a modest projector, so the "screen door" effect is normal, but this however, is much more exaggerated.
again, happy it even works.
Thanks you two. I'll check with a regular TV with HDMI and see what happens.

I'll also invest in a better adapter, and see if that helps, and let you know what helps.
