[Q] Japanese support - characters scrambled. - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Currently using this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206625
And japanese characters shows up scrambled. I have tried to find a similar thread but to no avail. Japanese input is no problem, I've got apps for that. The problem is getting the japanese characters to show up properly.
I am aware that the current ROM I am using is a lite-version but, if there is any way to change this myself I'd be more than happy. I regularly chat with japanese people on gtalk so it would help tremendously
I used MiniCM7 before, and japanese characters showed up properly, however I quickly got tired of the rom being quite sluggish.

It's because I replaced droidsansfallback.ttf with a smaller version that doesn't contain chinese/japanese characters as it seems, which I did in a silly attempt to get the rom.zip as small as possible (less than 60MB now)
Just copy that file from an other rom.

Connecting letters depends on your rom. At very first check out that your browser shows Persian sites like gooya correctly or not, then try MultiLing or SlideIt Keyboard. Its available in market and you don't need any font to install.
By the way you need to flash your phone with cyanogenmod rom to read Persian letters connected together (at least I experienced it by myself).
For non-cm7 ROMs, the letters may not appear connected.
1. Use Opera Mini browser for browsing persian / RTL sites: it render the text with connected letters but still there are some block characters due to non-supported unicode type character. but text is readable
2. Use "Mirsal" (you can find it in Android Market: and use this app for messaging, it works perfectly and support RTLs with arabic/persian/urdu language keyboards
Hey guys,
This dude here introduced a font:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689811
I already rooted my SGS II i9100G.
The problem is I have no idea about steps he said to install that font.
Currently im using Juffo Rom which support persian language but has some issue:
it shows "گ" instead of "ک" and the letter "ژ" has not been defined.
any help?
techopedia.net/files/Iranian%20Sans-irsans.tar.bz2 is a full featured font for Persian (that as far as I know designed for android by farsitel group). I suggest you to use it
i am gonna help you out this time only coz you are kermooni
i assume you want farsi on a sense rom, 2.3 cyano already has support
the whole font thingy fits into two categories:
1. web based font processing (web browser and gmail and such)
if rooted: just search "brightidea" in market, install and run the patcher and you are good to go. i made a request to the author and he made the patcher compatible with any wildfire sense 2.2. credits to him
if not rooted: as mentiond your best bet is to use a browser like opera, unfortunately gmail wont work and i dont know any workarounds for it.
2. frame work (system menus, contacts, sms and such)
if rooted: search for DK CUSTOM rom in development section, there is an optional patch that takes care of the problem.
if not rooted: i am afraid there isnt much to do to remedy this, at least there is no way to take care of the problem completely.
you can use multilang keyboard to type in farsi regardless of all this, the above solutions are to properly read farsi.
side note: the reason you can easily type well connected words with multilang is that it takes care of the processing and connecting them before saving them, thus there is no need for the operation system to reprocess them again, it just reads them and shows them as they are. but if you try to read words that have not been processed by a program like multilang, like the text on websites then since these ones are not processed to be shown connected the OS just reads them as they are thus you see separated letters. the above solutions help OS to be able to process and connect the letters on its own.
let me know if you need help

[Q] About Fascinate Rom that suported Chinese language

Hey guys!
I am currently using a Verizon Fascinate. I can use Chinese input method downloaded through the Market but I can not send it through text msg. All of friends who have smartphones (ones can decode chinese characters) are not able to read the msg they receive from me (just bunch of crap lol).
Just flashed with my phone with Superclean 2.6 and it works great.
I wonder if there is any rom that suport Chinese internally.
Thank you very much.
Try miui, it seems to be laced with chinese characters

Would you like to tell me which one of it is the right version? I could not see the page for Fascinate in the main page of MIUI forum.
Is the MIUI rom you are using support Chinese?
Thanks.
The Fascinate port of MIUI is here (it's not official). Mind you, it's a very alpha version, with loads of things not working. Also, are you sure that (verizon's) SMS even supports non-ascii characters? I would actually be rather surprised if it did.
There's a bunch of keyboard app's you can download from the marketplace. The one that I use is Smart keyboard, and you have to download the chinese dictionary separately.

Just flashed it. Msg in Chinese is not working. The thing is that I can reveive Chinese msg fine (from my friends with different carrier of course, like AT&T so I thought Verizon starting to suport non-ascii characters with the release of IPhone 4). But anyways, Thank you very much.

Japanese texts sent from SGSII and "readable" on other devices (iphone4 for example)

Japanese texts sent from SGSII and "readable" on other devices (iphone4 for example)
Hi all,
So here is my problem. I'm running on Cognition 1.5 and since I do not have japanese nor french on this ROM I decided to download smart keyboard.
However most of my japanese friends use devices such as iphones (yeah nobody is perfect ) and when I try to send them texts, they see "question marks" whereas I can read perfectly the texts they send me in japanese.
Since Iphone has japanese in native language and after having tested different applications other than smart keyboard, it is highly likely that the "problem" is coming from my system.
So I had a look at the thread listing official firmwares.
And it seems that, as it is said in the thread, CSC DOES have nothing to do with the keyboards available (tried out of despair to flash the ones including DCM )
It indeed added japanese in the language settings, but did not add the japanese keyboard.
However I was wondering if texts typed via a third-party app like "smart keyboard" would be readable on other devices as long as "Japanese" is available in "language settings" and, if necessary, if I select it.
Thanks.
PS : I am sorry to create another thread about this issue, but all threads about this issue are obviously dead/unanswered and my problem is slightly different than the ones adressed in those threads.

Swype problem

Hello I searched for this but couldn't find anything. I just intalled swype on my sgs2 which is in android 4.0.4. Everything works great but when I type in spanish (my main language) even though swype puts the correct word the system still shows a red line under the word like it was misspelled even though it's not.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

[Q] dictionary

i recently downloaded the viper 5.5 rom for my htc one. i've use many roms in the past and never come across this problem. my phone doesnt recognize any words i type. (thus no predictive text) every word i type gets red lined like its wrong. is there any way to manually install an english dictionary?
