Tident Aegis case - HTC Amaze 4G

So I've been doing my research on what case to get my Amaze which arrives Tuesday. I went ahead and decided to purchase the Trident Aegis Blue. From what I've read it a strong and reliable case. The only complaint I've read that is important to me is the lack of three noise cancellation holes on back.
So like one member (don't remember his s/n) did I want to drill three nice little holes in the hard and rubber case yet I want it to still look nice and professional. I emailed Trident three times but they continue to ignore me.... Can anyone help me or give me advice on going about this procedure? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

well the easiest way would be to map the hole's location onto the case by measuring the distance from the camera or lay the back cover of the phone in the case and use a needle to mark the hole's spot. (shouldnt be too hard)
then to drill through the plastic, just use a small drill bit for that. and go slow so the friction doesnt melt the plastic or mess up the drilling....
then for the silicone skin... just put the skin onto the plastic case and with hot needle (heat with lighter or something) just poke through the silicone
that should give the desired effect that your looking for

please explain to me how you can even get this case on the phone. bought it, case refuses to go on. worst experience with a case ever

Slide the phone in from the bottom.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?

Update!
So I finally received a reply back from Trident Cases in regards to the lack of three holes on the back case that we need. This is her reply:
Good afternoon,
We have fixed this issue, I apologize the pictures on our website do not reflect the change.

email them to me.

Called Trident, spoke with Kelly, and told me that if we wanted 2 more holes, we will have to email them & it will be forwarded to their design team.
The manager told Kelly to tell me that adding 2 more holes are not necessary when I first called.

Do you think they will offer an exchange from the old design to the new one? I hope so. This case was expensive.

Yes, they do. Did you bought the case from Tridenteer? Kelly herself told me that if they updated the case, it can be exchanged within the one year warranty from the date of your purchase.

That would be perfect for me, I bought this case too 2 month ago and I really didn't like the fact that it didn't have the holes, so I ended up buying the ballistic case which in my opinion is way better that the trident, I mean don't get me wrong both are really good, but the ballistic feels way better, I still have the trident case for backup.

put the phone in the silicone first, then put the hardshell over that, I don't remember it being difficult at all... ? I don't use my aegis though, just my kraken...

First silicone case goes on phone then top hard plastic , now this is tricky part the back part . Put right side on first then clip on left side

I was gonna say it was for the mackerfone, I used to use lanyards and it does help from dropping the phone.

Which otter box are you using? just outta curiousity....
I had the commuter series.. Until one day my phone fell out of my pocket while I was biking, hit the ground and because the silicon was so stretched out from me simply pressing the power button my phone bounced face down on one end then the other and I ended up with some pretty nice scrapes on the body of my device. I was so mad! Needless to say I don't use the otterbox anymore and have switched to the Trident Aegis and love it. I'll never use an otterbox again!
I think I read somewhere that initial commuter cases had design flaws with the silicon and that it had been corrected but whatever... Trident is awesome.

changed my account lol, but i dont use otterboxes. i was just saying that as a reference... imho otterboxes are the most unreliable case out there. that and ive seen more than my fair share of phones in otterboxes drop a mere 3-4ft and break. i invest in ballistic cases, easily the best cases out. ive dropped my OG Evo from about 1 story up and it didnt get so much as a single scratch on the phone. ive also thrown it at a concrete wall just to prove how superior it is compared to other cases lol

If you want an idea of the true color of it, it's very similar to the red accents on the phone. It's just like a matte shimmer, if that makes sense. It looks even better in person, trust me.
EDIT: Oh, and korm, the color is a little darker than our beloved Scarlet, but it looks awesome with a big Double T on the screen

I wouldn't say big at all. If you've used the Otterbox Commuter before, it's essentially the same size, just a little more protection. And it hugs the phone reeeeaally well. When I got the blue one, I thought the whole 6-prong thing would cause issues and stretch out. But the plastic is extremely strong and the rubber is thin, but super-high quality. I had to take the blue one off a bunch for battery pulls with all of the flashing I've done in the past few weeks. I was afraid it would start to stretch, but it was perfect every time. I expect nothing less from this red one. It's nice. Probably the first case I would say is actually worth the $30. Don't hesitate; just get it. It's worth it
Has anyone noticed the case does not have those 2 tiny holes in the back of the case? They would be just above the S on the back. Im told those 2 tiny holes in the back cover are for the phones antenna, it is said to help the reception.
Has your reception gone down? Check your -db with the cover on verses off.
that is the only thing I am concerned about, reception is -97db here at the house, yup pretty poor but I dont get any dropped calls, hopefully the cover wont cause problems

Blocking those holes does nothing to signal. It's all good. Same thing was asked about the Commuter case from Otterbox. You would essentially cover those holes anyway if you hold your phone when you talk.

Just got mine and put it on. Looks 5 stars! Feel, so far 4 stars, which is pretty good since I never use a case. It's surprisingly thin..... I may change my mind when I'm sober, but very impressed..... Sound, 1star, my creeks like a MoFo. I was hoping the case would relieve me of creeks, not amplify them. Hopefully I installed it wrong. I think this case looks really nice, but I'm concerned about those LTE holes that are covered on the back. I would think that HTC placed those holes there for a reason, and other cases do not block them. Hmm, trying to decide between this case and the Incipio.

Help me figure out how to make this case

Inspired by the case in the link below, I am on a quest to make a case. If anyone wants to make some with me, let's talk. If someone is interested in doing a rugged metal/rubber/Plexiglas case for their note, and has some tools to help (like a CNC router) we can both put in work on different parts and get some nice cases. (Such as, I powder coat them and make the rubber inserts, and you machine the aluminum blocks. We both pay equal prices for the parts, but labor is free because we both contribute to it) that is just an example, let's talk or give me advice please! Here is the post that I made before:
Orange_furball said:
Yes. I'm considering asking someone how much it would be to rout a case from aluminum (unless I can do it with a dremel?) And then make some sort of mold for a rubber insert. I can also get a Plexiglas front cover cut (its not guerilla glass, but it'll do and is cheaper to replace) I can get the aluminum decently cheap (by the pound) and if I get some routing bits I'm sure I can figure it out. The hardest part is the machining of the aluminum and the molding of the rubber.
As for paining, I can get it power coated (lasts about 10 years!) For a few bucks.
Anyone have any ideas? The only thing in concerned about is the headphone plug cover, but that can be otter box style rubber, as long as the outside is metal
Does anyone know how to mold rubber? Or would I be better off buying a silicone case and making a two piece aluminum shell, 4 screws on it in each corner and the plexi screen protector sandwich in between. Also a camera/flash protector of some sort.
So here is what I need to know:
1)How to make the speaker waterproof
2) how to mold silicone/rubber for a custom phone case
3) how to machine aluminum with average tools (no workshop available unfortunately)
4) how to do the machining and molding cheaply
5) design for the spen area. I don't see an easy way to plug that to make the case water resistant
6) antenna issues...

The gf loves it, and temps me all the time to switching my Galaxy Note to an iPhone 4s...
Nothing like that will ever come to Android. Sad.
This is really sad. If I had access to a cnc router, I would make a few metal shells and mold some rubber inserts. I want a rugged case, but not like the otter box. Something that is actually high quality. I mean metal, rubber, and guerrilla glass! For $25 (I think) more than the otter box defender!
I am always jealous of the cases for the iPhone. I can't find any that make me happy, so I *carefully* use my phone naked.

I don't have insurance. I just forgot to get it and honestly it seems like a rip off. I used it on my old Garmin Nuvifone G60 once but that was because I dropped it out of my second story window by accident (long story) every phone after that has never had insurance. I wanted it for the note, but I have been going strong since march 19th and its still in one piece
But with an awesome case like that I can throw my phone at the ground for no reason and not break it!

The only thing I am truly envious about in regards to apple products is the mind blowing assortment of accessories. :/ Darn. I would definitely invest in this even though I have insurance on my phone, it still is a pain.
But back to your needs, you want a metal phone case? Otterbox seems similar but do you not like the rubber/plastic aspect of it?

That is an awesome looking case. BUT making it out of aluminum rather than plastic? Aside from the weight, folks report signal loss with bumpers let alone a full metal enclosure. It would be the equivalent of a Faraday cage.
ASUS goofed with the Transformer Prime's completely aluminum case which caused more than a few issues with GPS. The higher resolution follow up model fixes this with an ugly plastic section across the top.
Apple fwiw, mostly accounted for their iPhone's metal case by placing antenna(s) behind the non-metallic logo.
My other suggestion would be to do a mock up just to get a sense of the size and practicality of a case this size - draw it up and cut it out of wood.
Definitely following this thread. I love this kind of stuff.

EVO LTE Defender Case

I just received my replacement case from Otterbox today. May I say "WOW", much improved over the launch case. The new case seems to have shaved the slightest bit of plastic from the sides to make it a kind of struggle to clip together. I don't know about you guys (or the ladies), but I like a case that holds my phone firmly. That's not all though, I noticed that the foam pieces they adhere to the back plate are a little thicker than the original as well. Now for the shell, this thing is wicked hard to get off the plastic now (may cause the power and headphone port flaps to break a little quicker). It feels a little more "plasticy", but it is a huge improvement over the former almost elastic rubber. Just figured I'd let you guys know, Otterbox is finally getting things right.

Is it possible to post up close pics? I'm about to call them for the 20th time and get another silicon shell. Its all stretched out and the flap to the charging port is soon to come off. I have had problems with what I already said as well as the little clip lip breaking off what snaps the phone in. What was your complaint to get a replacement? Did you get a full replacement?

I will try to get some pics tomorrow. I've had a pretty busy week. The plastic case broke right at some of the clips, and that didn't bother me until I tried to put it in my holster and the holster snapped, because it didn't fit right with the broken clips (I honestly never thought that would happen). Anyway, when I broke the holster, I inadvertently pushed my phone to the ground and broke the screen (landed just right on the top right corner). They ended up sending me a full replacement, and apologized profusely about my phone. I was honestly going to get a different case, but when I received my replacement, I was more than happy with the improvements in quality.

Cool. I called them yesterday and they are also sending me a complete replacement. I told them I heard they have a new design and said its quite possible they are always upgrading due to complaints. I won't get the case until 2 weeks so if you could get pics that'd be awesome thanks man I understand your busy as am I with this crazy Christmas mess.

i highly doubt they changed anything around. my original plastic part of the case broke one of its clips and they sent me a new complete case and it seemed like the old case, just newer. Id imagine its just a new case to you, and can be worn in just like the old one

In the same boat fellas - on my second replacement case after the originals charger port broke off. Judging by the look of the port now, the same thing is going to happen AGAIN.
The replacements we recieved haven't been revised - the rubber intially felt diffferent but over time as it wears and oils from the hands or other substances are transferred it took on the same feel as my older case.
To be sure I followed up with the Otter rep that handled my replacement. This is the response I recieved back from Otterbox:
"Hi Marcus,
Your welcome! At this time the silicone has not changed from the originally one that you had. We are however constantly looking at ways to improve on all of our products and the silicone issue has been brought to our attention from loving customers like you. Hopefully in the future we will have this problem fixed up.

Oh well at least they have a warranty & good customer service. I have probably had pushing 10 claims by now with no problem. Imagine if there was no warranty

The real question is did you have an otterific week? On a serious note any suggestions on getting the case replaced mine isn't broken but has a lot of dirt stuck to it.

I just got my replacement in the mail and its 100% exactly the same except the silicone isn't all stretched out because its new. Gotta love that new smell

Yeah just received my third replacement since launch. One thing I will say is they stand behind their warranty. After the first complaint they sent me 2 silicone replacements, then after both of those suffered from the same problem as the original, they just sent me a whole new case. Hard shell and all. It sucks that they don't work like they are supposed to, but as long as they keep replacing them free of charge I guess I can't complain too much.

I just filled out the warranty for my third replacement as well. The usb flap last a few weeks before it starts to tear and by about two months the rubber is very loose.
Otterbox is GREAT about their warranty!! I've had multiple replacements on multiple devices! They never question you or give you any problems. I bought a used black Commuter on ebay just because I knew I could get a new one directly from Otterbox in exchange for the used one! Saved me some money in exchange for a little wait time. Got a new case for less than half price, actually MUCH less than half of the retail price!!

i'm about to get my 3rd silicone slip cover..... like all of you they begin to warp near the upper right hand corner of the phone. After this happened the first time, I was extremely careful whenever I grabbed the phone from my pocket, or whenever I pressed the volume rocker in an effort to extend the life of the slip cover... and it did last 2 months longer than the original slip cover did.... but still it eventually warped. I realize the 3rd slip cover is going to be no different.... but why not get one more slip cover before my warranty expires?
honestly, I dont care that the charging port flap breaks, frankly it's annoying having that flap so I like it when it finally breaks off.
I'm really tempted to just ditch the otterbox case and take my chances with the bare phone (this phone is one of the better looking phones out there).... but then every couple of weeks I'll drop the phone and remember that's why I bought an otterbox case.
Trident case Kraken. That is my next one after I run out of slip covers. I love popping out the plastic and using Zagg hd shields though.

[Q] Cases that don't touch side edges of the screen?

Anyone know of a case that doesn't go all the way up the side edges and touch the screen's glass?

Unless you want to glue the phone into the case, there is no alternative.
Its also kind of pointless, since the purpose of a case is to protect the glass. If the case doesn't come up over the edge of the glass, it won't do its job.

It can come up on the top and bottom or the edges. Sometimes people should just be silent if they can't contribute something useful.
I'm also searching for something like this.
ringke slim
Had that one but got a unit where it stood away from the phone in the button area which wasn't acceptable and the seller wasn't that reliable. Unfortunately there is no other at the moment in my country.
Had a case like this for my N5, loved it. Super minimalistic. Was hoping for a similar case for the N6 but haven't seen any pop up yet.

Ringke slim is probably the best, though. it's about as close to what you describe as you can get. I have one for more work iPhone, too. Can't you get one shipped via ebay or something?

No there's only this seller which I won't order from again. I now ordered another slim case from some unknown manufacturer and will try that.
I ordered several cases on amazon. The best in my opinion was the sup beetle case. Keeps a low profile, its well made and its cheap to buy. Just my two cents.

what is it going to grab onto if it doesn't touch the screen??? top/bottom/side doesn't matter, the screen goes all the way around!!!

It just shouldn't on the sides of the phone! I don't care what it's like on top or bottom or the edges of the phone. That was also the question of the OP.
I'm using the Spigen Thin Fit, which might be close to what you are looking for. I like it with Swipe Navigation since there's nothing touching the bottom of the screen, making it easy to swipe up.
