Swype keyboard down to just 2 pages? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

so,I always use swype, have on all the evos. this one, if you press the number/symbol button, you get a second page, and if you press again, you get a fancy arrow and edit page, but no page with keys on it. is the "number"page dead for good now, the one that arranged the numbers in a grid instead of just the top row across all horizontal?

I dont remember having the number page where they are all in a grid on my old evo. I was also running the latest version so maybe thats why?
When I hit the "number/symbol key" I get one page and there is a button to take me to the second page where its just symbols.
As for the fancy arrow and edit page, that is actually accessed by touching the "swype key" and sliding your finger to the right over the "number/symbol key"

the 3d evo had it. i know swype never updates from whats installed unless you sign up on their site though

Yea I had the Swype beta from their website on my evo.

if anyone cares, i found the number keyboard. you have to 'guesture' swype from the swype key to the 't' (number 5) key in order to get it.
always read the help files or about app page *face palm*

OP, is this what you're referring to?

bingo

Long press on the key immediately to the right of the swype button (near bottom left)

well I'll be damned

Life without a track ball

So I have had 4 android phones now and all of them being htc and all of them having a track ball or sensor mouse. I can only say that going to the vibrant is can be a pain in the ass when needing to correct a error in a long tex form. I have seen on IPhones where when you need to pick out a point in a tex the is a bubble that pops up with a spot indicator where you can drag your finger and see where the marker is going to be placed... it there a app or some way to get this on a vibrant?

For what it's worth, I've never had a problem just tapping where I want to put the cursor and editing anything.
If you're using Swype, glide from info => SYM buttons to get D pad.
On Samsung keyboard hold down the "?123" button.

You my friend have just made my day... been on this phone for months and never figured that out Thanks a million!!
the dpad on the phone has been misserable to me, it switches text fields instead of just moving the cursor >=/
If you're using swype, just tap the incorrect word then tap the swype key. Swype will list alternate words but at the same time the word is highlighted so you can tap backspace to delete.

Swype cursor, who knew?

Swype has always frustrated me, when you need to move forwards and backwards much in a text field, it is difficult to do with your finger and I could not find anything to help in swype.
All I had to do was hit the bottom left swype button and then slide to the symbol key right next to it. BAM, there it is. It's probably most helpful for copy and paste and some other situations where you just can't move the cursor with your finger.
Just an fyi, and also wondering if this was already common knowledge?

I wouldn't call it common knowledge, but it's been known for a while. I found out about it in a tips and tricks thread somewhere.
Also, try the same thing, but slide to "f" instead of "sym" to pull up a number pad

Are there more shortcuts?
-swype key then symbol key
-swype key then f
...more?

also, in 2.2, in text entry fields, if you tap the field a movable cursor shows up that you can slide left and right.
A lot of tips like these are in the General Sticky....
that said, I do not know if its a shortcut, but I love going from the apostrophe to "s".... I can type words like "what" and then with that gesture quickly make is "what's"
also, if "bump" from one letter to the next it helps swype identify the letter you are really going for (ie, you go across a row and there could be a few correct letters).
I take it that none of you had ever done the tutorial with swype on your phone...

Swype > F is the only one from this thread that is not on there.. and that is not all that much needed from using the other number pad.
Swype -> q switches it to AZERTY. It doesn't switch it back. Pretty useless.
These Swype shortcuts are all on the Swype website lol

To switch back, press and hold the top-left button (where Q used to be) and choose U.S. English. If you've picked Korean by accident, press and hold where the A button was to switch back to English.

[Q] Keyboard arrow keys?

Where did they go? Is there a way to enable then? I found them really useful on my 4G, but I no longer have then in ny 3D o.o;
if you enable swype, there are arrow keys there,,,,,,,,you just touch the icon in the keyboard in the lower left corner and swype to the sym button next to it and let up,,,,,the arrow screen will appear
anyone find another keyboard with the arrows. i used them all the time like the op here. i don't really care for swype. i know it just takes getting use to but i can't seem to stick with it long enough. i really miss the arrows
I use SwiftKey. There is a free beta download in the marketplace. Have not had any problems and it has arrow keys.

I tried the swiftkey beta but i couldn't get used to it, seemed like the keys where smaller.
I too miss the arrows. I hate how it always saves words I don't want. At least with the arrows you could just highlight it and pick the word without adding it. Even a simple thing thing touch to add to text, then touch a second time to add to dictionary would be awesome. Also I think the word prediction and corrective spelling is worse on this keyboard.

Scrolling in browser fields

I am afraid I already know the answer to this but hopefully there is a way. I was doing some stuff on the web and one of the pages was a registration form. The field for state was a dropdown box. The list item I needed was at the bottom so I needed to scroll down the list but there was no way to do so. Is there a way to do this?
Have u tried the dpad on the keyboard? Just a thought idk if that works just haven't run into that issue yet
I can't get the keyboard to come up. Once I leave the field for City, the keyboard goes away.

Long press on the menu button always brings the keyboard back...
.
On all Android devices, there are long press shortcuts and key-combination shortcuts.
There are the actual Android shortcuts, and some vendors such as Archos install their own.
I have never found any vendor that gives a full description of their devices shortcuts so I always either search Google (in the case of key-combination shortcuts) for any, other users have found, and long press every button on my device (front and keyboard in all applications...) to find out whats there.
Still working on this new device but seems to be limited to basic Android at mo.
I tried the long press. Maybe it is that web page's design. I have found that long pressing only lets you get to the keyboard in apps that require some kind of typing input. When I long press on that field, the keyboard never comes up.

Yeah, there are plenty of places where long press does not work.

[Q] HTC-!x keyboard

When I type text, the keyboard automatically loads one of the three suggested words on top of keyboard (usually the wrong one of course) into my text making typing a real pain in the rear.
How do I get rid of these suggested words?
It usually loads the center word. The left hand word is usually the one I want.
Also the "word prediction" field in the settings area is dimmed meaning I have no access to green check mark.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, why do the "image verification" letters in this forum have to be so blurry? I have to reselect numerous times before I get one I can read.
You could try another third party keyboard. I hate the stock keyboard so I got swift key and have been using it for 2 years. You could try it out I really enjoy it and if you like it, but it will fix your issue your having with the stock one.

You can touch the word you want and it will fill it in to what you are typing. Also under Settings/Language&Keyboard/HTC Sense Input/Advanced you can only turn off word prediction if you uncheck trace keyboard.
