Instagram issues - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Anyone else have issues with the app force closing as soon as the app launches? I have reinstalled etc....

yea i get fc's all the time too.

Pretty sure its unrelated to the phone as i'm on an Epic Touch and I have the same problem. However, it doesn't do it immediately on mine, just from time to time.

Mine isn't force closing on launch, but it will force close every time I try to look for friends.

Yeah looking at follows & following FCs the app.

That's weird, I have never had a FC in the app

I'm not having a single issue with it.

No issues here either...

Applications, Instagram, clear cache, clear data, uninstall, reboot. Install again and all is working now.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

I cleared the cache on the app and it is working again. Hopefully that lasts.

I think it will. The last update to the app borked something in data. Clearing it and letting it rebuild the data files seems to resolve the issues. I have had zero problems since then.

Are you on infected eternity!?
I had some issues force closing on infected rom. Honestly can't recall if it was landscape only though. I don't use facebook a whole lot so I didn't really troubleshoot it. I do remember it only being when I tried to send a message though.
It was on an earlier version though. Like 1.39. I didn't have that issue on 1.41, 1.42, or the 1.50 svn nightlies.

It's kinda awesome no lie. I haven't had any fcs man its working really good for me. Maybe do a app data and cache wipe

After update....

YouTube will not work. When you try to play a video it just black screens and freezes. This also happens when I try and use an app that opens YouTube. It will not work once it tries to launch YouTube. The two in particular that I have is Funny Videos and Top Music Videos. Anyone else experiencing this?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Nope, works fine for me.... Well, at least when I'm on WiFi and off of Sprint's crappy 3G -.-
Edit: Well, I'm used to getting terrible 3G service but now I can confirm its more than that.. When on 3G YouTube is indeed broken.. Stock, never been rooted
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? My YouTube app works fine
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I could only uninstall tbe last update, which I did. I also tried power cycling and neither worked. I would hate to have to do a factory reset

That line leads me to believe you're using a custom rom. If so did you wipe dalvick and cache?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player? I dont know if it will work but might be worth a shot?
Mine does the same thing when using 3g. Wifi works fine though.

All streaming, YouTube etc works perfectly for me as designed. Currently on Fresh 1.0 w no wipes and newest PRL. Note, that's also on WiFi and 3G.

no issues here.....stock updated no root no tamper.....works in updated youtube app on wifi and sprint 3g.
...try and clear you tube app data?
mine does this sometimes but a refresh normally fixes it. and this is not with the app that i have noticed it is wit videos on sites and only happens when u make them full screen also sometimes if u just watch it a second the vid comes back
I did a little tinkering and I found that switching to Firefox browser fixed this.. I was using Chrome and it may be related to that. What browser were you using?

How to help force closes

Settings-developer-options-advanced-background process limit. Set this to none or up to 4. The lower, the more free ram you will maintain. This does not survive a reboot. So you must do it again each time you reboot your phone.
This makes your phone extremely fast. You'll notice soon as you own the app drawer. Lightning fast.

You can't multi task If your app force closes though. You have to be able to use it first.

Does this phone multi task? That's been a problem since it fell out of the box. And with jb it got worse

By the way I'm pretty sure flex has the fcs fixed in his Rom. Nice job flex

I am getting this issue

Starting yesterday I started getting this issue. Before I go to the Sprint store I figured I would come here to try and fix.
I have performed 2 hard resets and it is still happening. The funny thing is this started happening after the new year. Any thoughts?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Did you try fixing permissions?
Can you give more details?

you are right that this issue started with the new year. we think that is has something facebook contact storage. first thing to try is to open the facebook app and turn off the contacts sync from the app settings.
edit: the problem is with a contact that has a birthday on feb 29. weird right?
I tried booting into recovery w/o success. BTW I am non rooted stock.
I went into facebook settings and seleced contacts to not sync. Then reset and still same problem.
Uninstalled Facebook, still having problem. I will try another reset and see what happens.

I just reset and still having the issue.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

You are kinda limited as to what you can do being that you are stock you could try taking it to sprint or calling them and see if they can help

(Q) How do I stop my phone from auto closing apps?

I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy Note LTE and this phone is really getting on my nerves. Sometimes I am using an app halfway and it suddenly auto-close for absolutely no reason. Just to note, it's running on Android 4.0.4 ICS.
Maybe I should have bought an GS3 or something else other than this garbage.

This is a very strange behavior, indeed. What do you mean by using an app halfway?
Maybe you should do a factory reset, with a nandroid backup first....

Uninstall the apps which would force close suddenly.
I meant that I was like playing a game and in the middle of a race, it suddenly auto close.
Sometimes even Google Chrome and the default browser would auto close. Restarting my device would be a temporary fix and it would auto close again once it's 'overloaded'. Currently, I tried putting the maximum background running apps at 4. Still observing whether it works or not.

Have you tried clearing the Cache of your device?
How do I do that?
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
Since you are in ics, you won't have the option available by default.. So I suggest you to use some third party apps for this.. You can try app2sd available in android market.. Even though the main purpose of this app is not clearing cache, you have the option to do this.. Have a try..

You can use apps Memorry booter.
Thanks a lot. Does this actually prevents any auto closing in future?
Isn't that the same as task killer apps?
