What are you doing with your EVO 3D when you upgrade? - HTC EVO 3D

What's everyone doing with their EVO 3D when they upgrade? I just ordered my EVO 4G LTE on Saturday, so it should be here tomorrow at some point. I'm selling my EVO 3D with all of its accessories. Share your thoughts...

I always do the same thing with every phone. I buy it brand new, then when I can get an upgrade, I sell my phone for the upgrade price of the new phone. Bam, free phones for life.

Selling it to my cousin, its in excellect condition. $150 is fair.
My buyout was more than expected ($165) so it'll be $15 once this week is out.

That's what I'm doing with mine. My EVO 4G LTE will be here tomorrow, so I'll probably post it up on Craigslist tonight. I have the following for sale in a bundle:
HTC EVO 3D (Rooted/Unrooted: Buyer's Preference)
Extra Battery
HTC Desktop Dock
iGrip Car Mount
Otterbox Commuter
Pink Sprint Silcone Case
Screen Pretectors (Matte Anti-Glare)
Probably ask $300 for all of it, and see where that takes me.

Best Buy buy back, gave me 280 for it, perfect condition.

Considering I only paid 10 bucks for my 3devo, brand spanking new...I'll hang on to it until Sprint gets LTE going. By that time, I'll be able to buy a better version of the EVO than what is being offered currently.

Yessir, got the buy back from best buy with the 3D last year for 30 bucks cause I got Best Buys insurance. Only thing I have to pay for is the contract buy out and activation fee.
Also my 3D was in perfect condition, except for vm firmware which they did not check

And how it works? I mean, I'll upgrade, so the new EVO would be $199 right? so If i give my 3VO It would cover at least the $199?

Bought it so cheap in the UK and it seems to work so perfectly for me I don't think I'll upgrade for a phone this november when my upgrade comes around....might get another tablet

Sell It
Will sell it. Normally keep a decent phone spare in case phone is stolen/broken, but as wife just got a Galaxy Nexus replacement for her stolen Nexus S, we will keep that instead. I am hoping they come out with another 3D phone in the next couple of years as I quite like the 3D feature

Worst case it goes in the drawer with the rest of my old phones. I have legacy devices all the way back to the Motorola StarTac.

It will be my new TEP or insurance policy.
The rate goes up to $132/year + tax+ $150 deductible. Or every bit of $300 if you exercise the policy.
The first year defects are covered by the manufacture.
I believe the sprint buy back on the evo 3d is $110. Not $280 stated above.
Down time is shorter to activate the 3d. I'm not sure if there is an activation charge. I guess there is.
There always seems to be tear down instructions in the sticky sections.
As usual people probably abused the system. And those of us that played by the rules get screwed.

When I got the 3D last year, I got Best buy insurance, because I got their insurance they offered me a buy back which I had to purchase. So I paid them 30 last year to buy my 3D for 280. They won't give you that much if don't have their buy back.

Trading in Rooted EVO?

Hi everyone! I will be trading in my EVO 4G at Radioshack on Friday and I was just wondering if I should unroot or not. I don't think it will be an issue but I want to know what everyone else is doing who is trading in their rooted EVO. Thanks for all your help!

I can confirm this as well. If you are trading it in at radioshack.....the store rep said all they care about is if it powers on and works. They give the phones to to battered women I was told.
But if you trading it in to Sprint I would likely unroot the phone and flash back to stock.
i unrooted mine just in case they do check for that. Trading mine thru sprint. Sprint gives 150 n RS gives 100 trade credit fyi

I took my Evo into a Sprint store for them to check out and tell me how much my trade in would be worth. I was running CM7 and gave it to the guy. He took it in the back for a few minutes. Came back and said it would be $150, but said I should probably flash to stock. I said "oh yea, of course" and grinned. Ended up selling on Craigslist for $200. Currently using a ****ty BB 8530. Tomorrow cannot come soon enough
Does anyone have some instructions on the best way to unroot?
I sold my year old rooted Evo 4G on eBay for $250 a week ago. You're getting ripped off big time if you give it to radioShack for $100.
Yeah I would agree it is definitely worth it to sell it on ebay, I put my 9 month old Evo on ebay with a buy it now price of $250 and it was sold within a day, I did unroot it though, this is the method I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141&highlight=unroot

I would never pay more than 1-200 dollars for a phone. Anyone pays 4-500 dollars for a freakin phone to have for 1-2 years is crazy. **** I bought my sons first car for 600 dollars 2 years ago. Cowboom.com EVO 3d refurb for 129.99

Right now you can get an EVO 3D for 129.99 plus $5.00 shipping at Cowboom.com.
It's their deal of the day. I have personally bought two EVO 4Gs from this site recently. One for me and one for my wife. They arrived in great condition. There were no cords or anything with them, but I'm not complaining. You dont get stuck signing a contract and you still get a great phone for cheap.

EVO 3D trade in value?!

Wow, Sprint really nuked their trade-in program. I was considering buying an EVO 4G LTE at full price (I am not up for an upgrade yet) in exchange for trading in my EVO 3D. But they are only giving $90 for the 3D! Wow. I traded in my EVO for $200 when I got the 3D. Did they gut the program?
I also considered Radio Shack. I know that last year they were also taking $200 for the EVO. But they are only offering $13! Insane.
It's valued for $120 at radioshack
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Should've bought your phone from bestbuy. They have the best buyback.
Up to 1 year you can get 40% back from price before carrier discounts (that's $280) and 30% back after one year.
So I'm planning on using my wife's upgrade on the Evo LTE which will be -$200 but then selling the phone back so I get +$280, ending up with $80 of money I can spend on whatever I want.
I basically got $80 for buying the Evo 3D...

When I traded in my OG Evo for the 3D on 7/23/2011, they were giving $150.00 since they were still selling them at the time and were going to sell for the immediate future. Since the Evo 3D is already EOL for Sprint, they really don't need them so they are priced low.
The 3Ds are still selling on Ebay for $150.00+.

2nd for buying it from Best Buy. Buyback program is quite handy for those who would upgrade often. I can get at least 150 for mine and I've had it since launch.
Feh, I don't get an upgrade until November. Might as well wait for ICS.
I think it's just this phone. It wasn't that big of a hit and the value on it isn't really good. There are Evo 4G's selling on CL around here for just as much as the 3D's are. When I sold mine I wasn't getting any offers more than like $140 or so because that's what everyone else around here was selling em for.

Getting my EVO on Sat, Sept 1...Where should I purchase?

It's been a long grueling last year with my OG Evo and it's time to part ways. I've always been and HTC supporter and I will continue to support their product. I will be getting an EVO LTE but paying the full $199 just seems outlandish especially now that ATT and T-Mobile dropped the One X to $99.99. I have some other options rather than buying directly from Sprint but I wanted to know other people's experience. Radioshack and Wirefly will ship one to my house, FedEx next day (which means I wouldn't get it till Tuesday), for $149.99 even. I was wanting to know any drawbacks to purchasing from these two providers rather than going through Sprint. I do have full insurance through Asurion so accidental damage isn't my concern but more of what happens if there is a manufactures defect? Also, anybody heard any news of Sprint reducing the price so they can compete? I would hate to pay $199 and then have Sprint drop it to $99 in the next month or so.
I could also go to Best Buy and get it for $149.99. I think this is going to be my first option considering my patience with my OG is running really thin. I am also selling my great condition OG with a ton of stuff so if anyone want to shoot me an offer, I would definitely think about it before posting on eBay.
It's too bad you didn't get it last week bestbuy had it for $99 for a week. I just got mine this pay Friday paid $104 out the door

Ya I just checked and it is only for brand new lines. I need to upgrade so it would be $99 which isn't bad. I may just have to do that. I may walk in to best buy and see if they will honor last weeks price because I'm technically not eligible until Sept 1st and I've tried everything to get my date pushed up. Once again I am upgrading and not starting a new line or contract. The prices vary drastically.

I think that the most important part for you is to get evo with 1.12 hboot. If you go to the big stores or sprint corporate store you may not find it. You need to go to small stores that sell sprint phones, that way you may get lucky.

Yah absolutely. The problem is small stores that sell Sprint have to abide by Sprint's pricing. I fell like if I order one online, it will come boxed and I can do whatever from there. I'm sure there will be a LazyPanda updated for 1.15 but who knows when. Having radio S-OFF isn't the biggest deal to me as long as I can get root. It sucks not being able to sideload firmware but what are you going to do about HTC and their bootloaders. I think I'm going to go through Amazon. It seems to be the only place to get the upgrade price of $99.99.
