This link worked for me just fine.

Ask it something complex like "How tall is the Empire State Building" then click the "More" button below S-Voice's response.

Why whats supposed to happen

Well I don't know about this particular version since people are still reporting problems downloading it, but in all the versions of S-Voice I've tried crash and logcat cites a missing resource

I have no issues asking about empire state building and hitting more. The flashable zip I posted link to from wanam is like 80mb and has the libs and everything. I haven't gotten it to fc yet and I have tried.

okay that's good, looks like someone listened to my fix. BTW you can make it crash if you ask it to open Gallery

Huh. Well that's great, that means someone even changed the pointers. Well now the rest of the world's caught up to my ROM

I tried this zip on serendipity and it force closes when you click more

so far so good on ShoStock 3.0.5
I got force closed when setting a calendar entry. It set the entry but force closed in the process so it "sorta worked"
Alarm, open app, navi, texting, posting to facebook, asking questions, etc....works great on S2.
I got a massive scare though when flashing it. I hit reboot the screen dimmed and then went all funky colors. I had to rip the battery. It booted back up fine into CWM, rebooted again, and phone is working fine. I'm going to chuck that up as random.

I get s-voice to work, and well, but I don't see it listed in my app drawer. The only way to bring it up is to long press the search button. Any ideas?
Just switched roms today to Mystic v4.
EDIT: nevermind. Reboot and it showed up. ::slaps forehead

Big Problem!
I'm running Mystic's Glory v4.0. I just dl'ed this Svoice zip to my phone. The ROM Manager asked if I wanted to install and I followed the prompts. The opening Samsung Galaxy SII screen comes on, then it goes black and nothing happens.
I popped out the battery a few times and tried to reboot, but same thing happens: Intro screen then black.
Any ideas?

Try wiping cache and dalvik with a fix permissions for good measure. If that doesn't work sounds like a reflash of from is in order.
PS. Try flashing it manually in recovery instead of using rom manager. I've seen it do all kinds of weird ****.

Thanks for the fast reply!
Can you give me a little more detailed instructions. How do I get into my CWM to wipe cache and dalvik with a dead phone? Or how do I reflash with a dead phone?
In fact, how do I get into recovery? I hold down the Vol Down button and the power button and instead of taking me to recovery, it goes to:
Warning!!
A custom OS can cause critical problems...
I can then either Vol Up to Continue or Vol Down to Restart phone. If I press Vol Down, say problem. Vol UP takes me to another screen that says:
Odin Mod, Downloading...Do not turn off target!!
Please advise.
Thanks!!!

To get to CWM recovery, hold vol up, vol down, and power until CWM recovery menu shows up. You can do this on a phone that is on or off.

Fast Boot?

OK, I've seen the videos of the Thunderbolt with fast boot, booting up in like 10 seconds. I have fast boot enabled but it still takes over a minute to boot. Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this?
I don't know if this was coincidence but I noticed that on mine after I checked fast boot it was still slow to boot. Tried it a second time and it loaded in about 12 sec. The first time might have been getting it setup in cache or something, don't quote me on that though.
Same. Fast boot seemed like a normal reboot to me.

I've tried everything, removed all apps and rebooted several times - still slow booting. I wiped the device and then rebooted several times and still all slow boot. I've posted this on various forums and so far I've seen a few people that fast boot is not working. As of yet no one has came across a fix that I've seen.
Ate you using a custom launcher?

This might sound dumb but just checking.
Fast boot only works when you power down using power off form the power menu.
If you choose reboot it does not do anything with fastboot.
Are you choosing reboot or shutdown then pressing the power button?

I'm holding in the power button and choosing "Power off/Shut phone down" option.
Just to make sure I'm not just over looking the obvious. All I should have to do is
1. Go into Settings -> Power and check Fast Boot
2. Hold in power button and choose shut down
a. Phone turns off
3. Hold power button in to "fast boot"
Is that correct? Or is their a hidden step? lol I'm starting to get paranoid that I'm just blatantly overlooking a setting.

That sounds write. When you boot back up and go into setting is the fast boot option still checked?
Yes it's still checked. If it were just my phone I would say it's defective, but the fact that my friend got his same time I got mine and it's doing the same thing really makes me want to think I'm just missing something.

It does show the "HTC" screen. Here is a video of it booting up that I took earlier today, in case it helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kDOgM0g1vo
Thanks for the video its helpful.
On my that screen does not show when i use fast boot.
And when i use fast boot i dont need to hold the power button that long.
So for some reason your phone it not doing the fast boot.
Can you check the difference in time it takes to turn off with the option on and off?
I believe it turns off faster when fast boot is on.
But i am really out of ideas. very odd.
Another dumb question. Is the fast boot option also checked under settings>applications?
With option unchecked:
Turn off time: 15.8 seconds
Boot time: 59.4 seconds to lock screen
With option checked:
Turn off time: 24.1 seconds
Boot time: 58.8 seconds to lock screen
I had my friend check his wife's phone and fast boot is doing the same on it. I'm really inclined to say I'm missing something, but I just don't see it. I'm not new to android, I've had an android device since the Moto Droid and have rooted them, restored them, backed them up, put custom roms on them, etc... I'm really starting to feel stupid though

[How To] Put, Start AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII) Into Recovery Mode or ClockWorkMod

[How To] Put, Start AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII) Into Recovery Mode or ClockWorkMod
1). Turn off your phone
2). Grip the phone with both hands on each side (there’s a reason)
3). Get ready. Now, press and HOLD the volume up and down button and the power at the same time and HOLD…..
4). KEEP HOLDING because the screen will flash and you might see a screen that says Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100 and an yellow exclamation point. KEEP HOLDING…
5). The screen will flash a second time the GT I9100 screen and when it does LET GO AFTER THAT.

this works, thanks
One more note: I mistakenly thought the power key was used to select but it is home.
Improtant keys when in recovery:
voume keys for up and down
home key for select
back key for.... tada: going back!
Actually you don't need to go that far.
Hold all 3 buttons until you see the first splash screen come up.... then let go of the power button but keep holding the vol+/- buttons until CWM comes up.

[Q] power button doesn't enter in recovery

I've searched this and saw other phones ask and the answers for them not help me.
I get into recovery. The volume buttons work, but all the other buttons (power and digital) just take the screen to the wallpaper. Hitting one of the buttons again brings the text back. I have the revolutionary recovery in I see.
I haven't used this phone in like 2 years. But before I stopped I rooted and installed a good working ROM. Everything worked fine. Now I can't use it. I updated recovery with ROM manager. Then let ROM manager try and install a ROM for me, but it takes me to this same screen and does nothing.
I can't even turn the phone off when in recovery, I have to pull the Battery. This is a great little phone, I hope I didnt' screw something up.
Suggestions?
In the newer versions of CWM, you have to use the trackball at the bottom of the phone to move around and press it to select.

Strange bug : impossible to wake the phone when it's locked

Hi!
I'm using a recent CM9 nightly with default kernel.
I would like to have your opinion : about 3/4 a week my SGS3 is "stuck" when it's locked : impossible to wake up using home or power button, the screen stays black.
The weird thing is that when it happens, the phone is not frozen : I can still hear music on the headphones and control volume using Up/Down buttons.
Sometimes I let it stuck and receive a notification some minutes later and the phone magically can be unlocked again, screen wakes when I push Home button.
Very weird and annoying when that happens.
My question is : what do you think it could be? An app? How can I debug this and know what prevents the screen to wake up when that happens?
Thanks.

Thanks, but is that the kind of easy answer you all tell when you don't know the exact answer?
When I installed CM9 a week ago, I did do a full wipe...
I think that next time it happens, I will try to connect my SGS3 on USB and do a adb logcat, maybe I'll find useful information.

Having a similar problem to yourself. Installed CM9 rom had a play and then went back to omegaV9 performing a full wipe using the instructions on this site before reflashing.
Since then when my phone is locked screen off then i unlock either via swipe or using security code (digits ) it looks like the phone unlocks but sort of does a warm boot with black screen for a few seconds with the two buttons down the bottom light up.
When it starts it looks like all the apps have stopped and are restarting again.
I re flashed again omega 9 thought i had it sorted but it started playing up again this evening.
If anyone has any ideas please post..
Hi, I'm a newbie here. I also exprience this problem with my samsung GT-i9300. I hoping to see a fix with this problem.

Sense 4.1 and + DEEP-SLEEP Wake-On-Vol FIX -- 12/9/12

Credits: Andybones, Zarboz, Nitsuj17:init.d script
You must already be on a ROM with this MOD in it, this does not add the Wake-on-vol MOD to the ROM, it just makes it work in deep-sleep now.
thanks to Nitsuj17 -- it now survives reboot.
just flash this in recovery:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26383143/HTC Incredible 4G/ViperLTE_2.1.1-volumewake.zip
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to do this on every reboot as haven't found a way to get it to stick yet.
using something like root explorer
go to sys/keyboard/vol_wakeup
open using text editor
change the 0 to 1
save changes and exit, it'll say something about a back-up being made, but there isn't but that's ok. just open it again and make sure it's now 1, and you are good until you reboot the phone.
Once reboot, just re-do steps 1-5.
------------------------------------------------------
Feel free to use this MOD without permission.
Please give credit though..

really?
that's what I'm using it's working for me..
try setting all permissions
I rebooted, locked phone, waited 2 mins, and wake-on-vol didn't work.
then did what's in the OP, waited 5 mins, and wake-on-vol worked for me.
I'll experiment further with it, but under this I assumed it worked.
I can't get it to work even messing with permissions or rebooting and retrying to set it, oh well.

haha j/k
I'm not too sure man, I just re-flashed completely stock and tried again tested a bunch of times, reboot, wake on vol doesn't work, do what's in the OP, I've now tested up to 10 mins and wake on vol still works.
ill keep posting longer updates, this could just be a fluke but I'll keep reporting.
update: it's been charging now for 30 minutes, came back and used vol keys, will report back again more once fully charged and let it sit for an hour or so.

I applied this last night and everything worked fine. This morning when I tried it, it didn't work from deep sleep. Just to confirm, I'm on viper 2.0 and the only option to wake with volume is to use the volume up button. This option was fine yesterday but today didn't always work.

it works.
sometimes u may have to manually check to make sure it is applied. today at one point it didnt work, and i checked and it was at 0, and i changed it to 1 and it's fine. The init.d script for the most part i think 9/10 times will change it automatically.
and in Viper2.0 and up only the VOL UP key wakes the device..
this is because of the new tweak for down key to turn the device off.
even if you are not using the vol down to turn phone off tweak, only VOL UP will wake it.
I can fix this for u if you want to make both keys wake device.

i'd prefer both keys (vol up, and vol down) to wake if it's easy to do.
Thanks

I'd prefer a mod to allow up and down wake if you have time. I'd really appreciate it. And I'm guessing what you're saying that's happening is my problem. The script probably didn't have it changed to 1. It's not that big of a deal to me, if it works 95% of the time I'm cool with that.
