[Q] samsung galaxy s2 at&t

anyone can help me? im from Philippines..
but now im here in Dubai... i want to buy samsung galaxy s2 AT&T..
i just want to know if galaxy s2 AT&T is Applicable to use in the philippines?
i want also the samsung galaxy s2 but i dont want the 3 buttons above..
i want the s2 AT&T because of the 4 buttons above, and the size is 4.3
anyone can help in if AT&T variant?
Both the international and AT&T/US versions have the same screen size. As far as using the AT&T version overseas, you would need to find one that is unlocked I believe.

I WILL GONNA buy the samsung galaxy s2 AT&T...
maybe tomorrow here in dubai.. what do you mean locked?
like sim lock? and im not sure if galaxy s2 AT&T is available here
in dubai...i will find it tomorrow... if not... i have no choice... samsung galaxy s2 international.
If you want the AT&T variant, you're going to have to buy one on eBay or somehow get AT&T to ship it to you. You're not going to find it in Dubai.

[Q] Samsung GS2 or Skyrocket?

I'm trying to decide whether to buy the AT&T Galaxy S II or the GS2 Skyrocket. I currently have the Motorola Atrix.
I love Samsung's Android devices and I have a Samsung Captivate collecting dust. I miss Samsung and I'm coming back. Should I just get the GS2 or should i get the Skyrocket. I have never owned a device with a 4.5" screen and I don't know if that is too big. Finally, what device has better development support? I want to get a device that has the better support as well as the one that is most likely to get Android 4.0 before June 2012.
Thanks to all of those who help!
S2 by 10 miles. Skyrocket is like its retarded brother because ATT cannot release a phone unless they completely butcher it.

When I say, GS2 I'm talking about the AT&T version. not the unlocked version.
I'm almost sure that's what he is talking about here sgs2 at&t because it is a sgs2 just at&t sgs2.

[Q] Rooting an unlocked device.

I am planning on getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 soon but I am going to buy it unlocked. Is it possible to root an unlocked phone. I have not seen any guides on Youtube or online yet that show guides on rooting a certain unlocked phone. I want to root it as soon as it is possible to root it safely. I am going to buy it unlocked but I am not going to get a plan from T-Mobile from it until January. My main question is: Is it possible to root a smartphone that does not have a sim card in it and is bought unlocked and if there is what guide do I use(like do I use the guide for how to root the galaxy note 3 tmobile edition or att edition or verizon edition.) Can someone please answer by September 4th.
It's the exact same. Locked or unlocked makes no difference.

But which method do I use. There are different versions of rooting a device such as rooting it if you have verizon or rooting it if you have t-mobile or something. Which method do i use?

rooting has nothing to do on your Phone Network settings. it depends on your mobile model on how you root it and not by your network carrier.

If it is like that then why do they have a specific video for how to root a Verizon Galaxy S4 or a specific video on how to root the AT&T Galaxy S4. So let's say I get a Galaxy S4. I just have to look at a video that shows me how to root my specific model like the Galaxy S4 I9500?

The video you would follow is the one for the international unlocked version. For example to root the unlocked international Galaxy S4 I would go to the Galaxy S4 I9500 section on XDA and then look for a root guide or if your looking for a video guide on site such as YouTube I would search on YouTube "root Galaxy S4 I9500" and follow the root procedure for the Galaxy S4 I9500 device model. So when you get the unlocked international version of the Galaxy Note 3 you see what model number is has and would Google or search on YouTube something similar to "root Galaxy Note 3 international" or "root Galaxy S3 (insert international unlocked edition model number here. The international edition is the standard globally carrier unlocked edition that can be used with any carrier's SIM's that support the phones radio basebands. If you still have any questions let me know and I can try and clear them up for you.

thank you that provided a good explanation. So if I buy the Galaxy Note 3 unlocked straight from Samsung I am actually getting the unlocked International version? But if I get the international version, i won't have 4G LTE. I live in the USA btw.

That is correct if you buy it straight form Samsung your buying an unlocked International version. As far as 4G LTE compatibility, Samsung is likely going to release an international unlocked model that is compatible with United Sates LTE bands on most carriers. The new trend for devices is to have global LTE capability that is compatible with LTE networks in both the U.S.A, Europe, and other places across the globe.

oh ok thank you. Do you know how much the Galaxy Note 2 was unlocked when it was released last year. This would give me an estimate on how much the Galaxy Note 3 would be. I am either looking to buy the Galaxy Note 3, HTC One MAX, or the Oppo Find 7. If you do know can you please tell me the price of the Galaxy Note 2 when it was released last year unlocked.

The Galaxy Note 2 was approximately $750 when it was released last year for the unlocked international version. I would expect the Galaxy Note 3 to be about the same price when it's released.

In my own opinion the jury is out on the HTC One Max as it's HTC's first attempt at a phablet format device I would have read a bunch of reviews, get users opinions, and try it out for myself before I could render any real opinion on it. That being said it does look like a promising device, however I would give the edge to Samsung because they have a proven track record of success with the Galaxy Note series of devices. And don't worry your questions are perfectly acceptable and are as far from irrelevant as it gets so keep them coming I'll be happy to answer them!

For the HTC One Maxx I would predict it to be around $800-$850 in price. The main thing that could make it more expensive then the Galaxy Note 3 is HTC likes to use "premium materials" such as machined aircraft grade aluminium.

Yeah you are correct. Do you know if they are going to be launching a Galaxy S4 with a snapdragon 800. If they do then and if I get it and root it specifically by it's model number then will I be able to find ROMS for it. My exact question is: Will the same ROMS that work for the original Galaxy S4 work with the Galaxy S4 with the Snapdragon 800 processor? I wouldn't think there would be a difference because the processor has nothing to do with the ROM but I was just wondering just in case because the Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 800 could be classified as a totally different phone and have separate roms for it or something.

The a updated international version of the Galaxy S4 with the model number GT-i9506 containing LTE-A (LTE Advanced) and a Snapdragon 800 recently was seen in a FCC filling leading to the belief that we may see that coming to the U.S.A soon. More info on the updates Galaxy S4 can be found here. As far as ROM's are concerned, ROM's that work on the original Galaxy S4 will very likely not work on the new updated Galaxy S4 if and when it is released because as you mentioned both devices will be classified as two completely different devices with different model numbers meaning different ROM's. Even though devices have similar hardware, ROM's that are designed for a particular device model are meant to work on that device model only. Any ROM's for the old Galaxy S4 would have to be ported to work on the new Galaxy S4 if and when it is released, due to them still being two different device models.

Glad I could help, currently I do not have the power to lock threads but what you could do is edit your thread title to something along the lines of this "[Q][SOLVED]Rooting an unlocked device", that way other users who have similar questions and who are looking for similar information in the future can know that there is information that may help answer the same question they were going to ask.

international Mega and Google wallet

Hey guys don't shoot me but I have a very nooby question. Ok I bought the mega about a day ago and I absolutely love it. I'm coming from a S3 and I really miss having Google wallet because I'm a die-hard plastic user and I don't carry cash. Sadly my mega is international and I can't use wallet.
I was wondering, since Google lets me download it from the market, could I root my mega, change the settings so it "appears" to be a lets say an AT&T model and continue using it? Or should I just refund it and buy the domestic AT&T model? Thank you!
Check with Google to see if your mega can be made to work with wallet?
