Search on xda 'carrier name'. I forgot the link.

look this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739839

This is also known as the carrier label and is fairly straightforward to change. It's worth finding out how to do it because then you know how to change other stuff.
But I can do it for you if you can't find out how to do it yourself.

Hello and welcome to the forum....
Root is where you get access to all file system on the phone and you can use apps that needs that like setcpu there you can control the cpu
Debranding is when you buy a phone from o2 there is apps from the provider on the phone and with debranding you will get a genetic firmware on the phone from sony ericsson without all the provider software
Oh so root is just to get to the core of the phone? Or is it something like iphone jailbreak?
For debranding why would people dont want the provider software? It cant be deleted?

here in denmark we have hi3g as a provider and on a mini from them there is a planet3 app and mobiletv and then we turn on the phone it shows a boot screen with 3 and thats is branding
Oh so if there isn't anything that shows at the start then its not been branded?

Rooting
Sorry to open this topic up again, but I want to root and debrand my phone.
Is there a specific order I should do it in? Or will rooting allow me to debrand?
I think Custom ROMs are already debranded, but I'm not sure. For Rooting, use a program called SuperOneClick, google it and you'll easily find it.

2.1 x10a reads as x10i any way to fix?

soo ive had the 2.1 global genric on my x10a since the flash tool was released and everything has been working fine except my x10a thinks its an x10i. Its no real problem but i would like my phone to say the right thing. is there a file i can change to fix this? i already have root access and root explorer. thanks in advance
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
There is no official X10a 2.1 update.
If you want your X10a to think it is an X10a, then wait for the official X10a update and install that (you'll most probably have to flash your old factory ROM first).
Yes you can, I thinks it is in the build.prop file

thanks, took a look at it... should i just switch the x10is into x10as? will i brick my cell?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I haven't done it myself, though it is mentioned often in this forum and nobody has bricked it by changing the name.

Question...

I have a question, how can I add stuff to the status bar that I can slide from above. In using non rooted and bootloader locked device. By the way what is the difference between LT15a and LT15i
Thank you
Sent from my LT15a using XDA App
You need to be rooted to be able to make changes, so would figure that out first.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
LT15a is the American version i.e. with the American radios, while LT15i is the International version (and more common variant).
And I don't know the answer to the first part of your question. Sorry but I'm sure there'll be more people along the way to help you.
i want to root but no one as answer me if i can root my phone with different version of FIRMWARE and if i can restore my carrier FIRMWARE in case i need it...
Yes you can, just remember your custom numbers in the build.prop file.

Im kinda new in the android business XD,
How exactly the numbers will help me? I wanna learn as much as I can to understand the whole android subject better.

Flash 2.3.2, use gingerbreak, root. There's a thread here somewhere... search the market for 'apps in statusbar'( I've got it but can't remember the app name whilst on xda), voila.

The problem is that the guide in here gave LT15i and I need LT15a so I afraid to use non matched firmware

[SOLVED][Q] Unlocking With Test Point Fails[Can't Use TP, So Use the Official]

Hey guys, I'm not a noob or somekind of it but this is my first attempt to Unlocking Bootloader with Test Point Method on My Xperia Ray (My XM Unlocked by the Official Way)
But i always encounter this error "qcReceivePacket: Can't get packet start."

This has been discussed in the thread on how to unlock the bootloader using tespoint method.
As far as I remember your phone's building date is too new and you can't unlock using tespoint. But I'm not sure

This has been mentioned a lot in the test point thread...
The newly manufactured Xperia devices can't be unlocked by test point method...
Sony has kind of blocked this method
So the Only way is the Official Sony Method?
