Youtube 4.0 on MediaPad without preloading? - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Got the youtube app update installed on my MediaPad.
According to the news it should have an option to preload videos for watching later wich would be awesome.
Android 3.2+ devices: v.4.0
* New UI: Guide on the left side of the screen with instant access to channels
* Preload videos while on WiFi and charging for smooth playback on the go
On a Galaxy Nexus I have seen this option in the settings. But on the MediaPad, although YT is definitely version 4.0.8E, there is no preload setting!
Did anybody get this working? I tried the update from the market and even an apk found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715

Apps and features not working with the unofficial ICS 4.0.3 update

Updated my tab to the ICS update that was linked in the general forum prior to the mediapad gettings its own forum (hurrah).
Was hoping that the tab will be blazing fast after the update, sadly don't see much of an improvement.
However the big issue is some apps are dog slow, or refuse tow work. If you have any problems with apps with the update please list and tell if you know of resolution.
Let me start.
1. ezPDF reader - Takes ages to load a PDF after the update. Rendering is very very slow.
2. Adobe PDF reader - Fast than ezPDF, but still the rendering is slower. I was expecting the 2D rendering performance to improve with ICS, but sadly no luck.
3. Browsers are very slow. Though the benchmarks might be different, the actual page load times are now slower with the native browser and on dolphin HD.
2. The very useful feature that showed running apps, and recent used apps is now missing, and you have the generic list of apps
All the adobe apps like touch, proto etc. They hang on a black screen.
Latest copilot live just fc.

Amazon Kindle (v3.3 & up) not working: all books content (text & graphic) is blank.
(it's working on ICS Beta prior this leak)
Now using old v3.2 & working well (but of course, font is less pretty & no pdf support).
1. Google Play keeps restarting
2. Google Play has issues handling multiple threads (loading an app detail screen while several apps are being updated, results in lost connection errors)
Not sure if the Google Play problems are related to ICS or the device.

Perhaps the device. Mine has been working just fine.
Quickoffice Pro HD doesn't work. I had purchased/installed it for Springboard on 3.2, but after going to 4.0.3 it was not listed in My Apps when I go to Google Play on the tablet. When going to Google Play on my PC, the app shows up as installed - but with a note that it is incompatible with all of my devices.

Try setting the screen to high resolution and I'd bet that you will be able to install the app.

Good thought - I had tried that but no luck.
I was able to get Swype keyboard to install by going to high resolution, where it had previously not worked due to incompatible resolution.
Zinio isn't working for me.. App works but the magazines are just rendered as black pages.
Put SketchBook Pro on the list, fc on start.
Additionally:
* Autodesk SketchBook Express - does not start
even if there is a statement on playstore page "√ Now runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Optimized for screen sizes 7 inches and greater."
* Navfree - blackscreen on startup (was fine on HC)
HDMI out - working, but the picture looks like a low resolution upscaled to a higher resoution.. also, when the cable is connected before enabling the HDMI output function, you need to disconnect and reconnect.. otherwise you'll get no picture at all..
tried this with HC 3.2 (B016) on the same device, with same cable/TV (Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000), and the picture looks great (like a real HD 720p/1080p resolution).. also you don't need to reconnect the cable..
EDIT: tested on two more LCD TV's..
Sony Bravia 37" (full hd) - the picture doesn't display at all.. it only blinks for a split second...
Philips 32" (hd) - the picture is displayed, but it's the same as described above with the KDL-40W4000
EDIT 27.3.2012: tested with the latest International version S7-301u_V100R002C002B008, and it's still the same :\
EDIT 29.3.2012: tested with PC monitor.. based on the information that the information menu of the monitor provides, that standar output is 640x480, which si far from HD/FULL HD .. and maybe that's the reason why it looks so ugly on most TVs..
but.. when the HDMI output is changed in the hidden menu (description here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23862818&postcount=5 ) the resolution was 720x480...
Gameboid - only showing the top row of pixels.
What a bummer... I want to play pokemon.
EDIT: Turns out its all GBA emulators. DroidEmu has the same issue.
Foxit Reader crashes when loading a PDF. Once a PDF file is selected it shows its processing for around 1-2 sec and then crashes.
Netflix
Looks like Netflix isn't working with the new ROM. I get the opening screen where I pick a movie but when it starts to play I just get a black screen. Maybe this is a DRM issue not sure but it sucks.
Kirby
Update netflix is working like a charm with this latest ROM.

Android 4.2.2 and youtube video resolution

Hello, i recently got my first device using android 4.2.2 and i see that the only video resolution for youtube that i can select is HQ but i cant select for example 720p or 1080p.
Does 4.2.2 is missing this youtube feature?
I know that older ios version you couldnt select it but with ios 7 is available.

Android version has nothing to do with an apps ability to display in a certain resolution. Youtube just simply doesn't have that support, it's either HQ or not. Simple as that.

Oh this really sucks. Clearly this is a step down in android compared to ios. It's shame cause that HQ option it's not even close to high quality.

[Q] Youtube videos in browser maximized black screen bug in 4.4.4, not in 4.3

I have i9305. On all the custom Android 4.4.4 ROMs i tried i cannot play YouTube videos in browsers properly. The sound works, but graphics are bugged:
In Android browser:
Playing the video shows it as black screen with the Youtube text copied in the middle (see attached screenshot). Maximizing results in black screen, but which shows a video frame when phone orientation changes or screnshot is taken.
Navigating away from the video results in browser crash.
In Chrome:
Playing the video works nicely even with graphics, but maximizing again shows black screen, also briefly working on screen update (phone rotated etc).
Navigating away again results in browser crash.
Youtube app works fine, but i am afraid the bug might show for another site / game. I didnt install any Flash manually, so i think the problem is with HTML 5 support. When i reverted to 4.2.2 or used stock samsung 4.3 everything worked as it should.
So is it a problem with i9305 only or with Android 4.4.4? Or should i flash a new kernel or something? Thanks for info.
I do have the same issue on my GT I9300. I even tried a Lollipop ROM but the issue is still there. If anyone knows where is it come from

It seems to be an asop error. Get a mod to move this to the 9305 area for more help with your model.
Have you solved the problem?

Porting ROM, Youtube is half black in Landscape

Dear all,
i hope someone can say whats happend with my port.
I have a MTK 6580 device and Nougat is ported to our chipset. Nougat works very well, but the port has a problem with Youtube.
If Youtube is in landscape, the half screen is black. In browser is all fine and youtube GO is fine too. It's just in Youtube. The Problem is since Youtube 10.02.3, because the 10.02.3 version works without problems!
Newest Version of Youtube. random video:
Newest Version in Landcape (no problems):
Youtube in Browser:
Why are versions newer than 10.02.3 so broken with the port? Which codec is used and which files should edit / replaced from the rom? I guess Youtube is using another codec since a newer version and the codec / smth else has to be edit. Also the Quality in Youtube APP is only up to 360P (can decide between 144 and 360)

redmi a1 2gb ram 32gb variant youtube is laggy
