[JB:CM10][24/09/2012] Custom GAPPS Normal/Inverted - Free some space in /system! - Defy Themes and Apps

WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW? HEAD OVER HEREhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913989AROMA INSTALLER - Custom gapps for Defy / Defy+ / Bravo
What is this for?
It's a custom version of the Google Apps designed to install most of the apps on the /data partition and therefore freeing some space up on the /system partition. This is because with the increasing size of roms and gapps there may be no space left as the system partition only holds ~350MB
How do I install this?
This is a customizable file (thanks to Aroma Installer) in which you can choose which apps to install. There are a some files that need to go into /system but there are others that you can have installed in /data without any problems. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.
Can I install on top of my full size gapps?
In theory it should be possible. What the scripts does is install what you selected and UNINSTALL what you have not selected. Meaning that if you have ie YouTube installed on you don't select it in the script it will get UNINSTALLED. In this case you should run the script twice, one for deleting all the apps and then run it again (no need to reboot) and select the apps to install.

You can do it here: http://www.getlocalization.com/CustomGoogleApps/. If you have any doubts or prefer to translate directly from the English file let me know.

AnTerNoZ's for the custom gapps for Defy
Bexton for the Offline Voice Recognition for Google Now uninstall script
Amarullz for the Aroma Installer
TUN_SD for the inverted gapps
tezet for the Google Ears app
niksy+ for the Serbian translation.
The following apps can be installed into the /data partition:
Gmail
GoogleEars (taken from tezet post, please test outside the US)
Music
Now
TalkBack
YouTube
These can get installed to /system partition
ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter
CarHome (not included in AnTerNoZ zip)
Gallery
Phonesky
Talk
The base files (always installed in /system)
GmsCore
GoogleBackupTransport
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter
GoogleFeedback
GoogleLoginService
GooglePartnerSetup
GoogleServicesFramework
GoogleTTS
LatinImeDictionaryPack
MediaUploader
NetworkLocation
OneTimeInitializer
SetupWizard
I've also added Bexton's script to remove unnecesary files related to Offline Voice Recognition for Google Now. This is specially recommended for non-English users. This alone will free up around ~30MB on /system.
Included are also the inverted apps (where available) by TUN_SD. Please note these inverted gapps needs to be installed into the /system partition.

Faq / tips / notes
FAQ / TIPS / NOTES
You should install the zip file via CWM: Recovery > Install zip from SD Card. Wiping of Cache/Dalvik is automatically handled by the script, you don't need to do anything.
if you're trying to customize an already installed full gaps you should run the script twice. First uninstall everything then run it again and
install what you want. You don't need to reboot, just uncheck "Reboot now" when you finish uninstalling in the 1st step.
Google Ears seems to be locked for people outside the US. The only way I can get it to work is to "unfreeze" it with Titanium Backup but it only last till the next reboot.
I do not plan to integrate non-Google inverted apps (like messages, phone, etc)
If the touch screen doesn't work or works erratically: When you run the installer, press the Home button and a menu should popup, select Calibration Tools using the Vol + / Vol - keys and selecting with Power button (just like recovery). You will be able to recalibrate the screen from there.

Great work, mate! And a nice idea, as well.
Btw, do tell what Phonesky is? Googleears?
And definitely looking forward to future updates with inverted apps and all!

Now Google Now is fast.. Thank you

I'm uploading 1.2b to fix a few things with 1.2.

Thanks. Next plan is to add some other Google Apps.
Also, would be nice to get some feedback on Google Ears as it seems to be locked for people outside the US. The only way I can get it to work is to "unfreeze" it with Titanium Backup but it only lasts till the next reboot.

[Noob Q] Hi, how do I do this? Should I install the zip file in Recovery? And, if so, is wiping cache and dalvik necessary? Or should I install Aroma Installer first? I have only 6mb left in my System ROM.
Sent from my MB525 running on CM10 12/09 with Minimal Gapps using xda premium

Really awesome. I just want the messages app in black, and im happy haha :good:

You should install the zip file in Recovery > Install zip from SD Card. Wiping of Cache/Dalvik is automatically handled by the script, you don't need to do anything. Finally Aroma is not something that you install, is used to CREATE an install, so you don't have to worry about it. Just install the zip via Recovery and follow the instructions!

Glad you like it! Messages is not part of gapps but more a rom thing. I don't think I should be including it. Check the OP where I mention the post from TUN_SD to his inverted gapps. You can download that to have the full inverted gapps experience. Also, check the post by justin860 where he created an Aroma installation for that.

Thanks again for your help!

@J_M_V_S --- I've installed v.1.3 over old gapps and I don't know if deleting apps and clearing cache and dalvik always work corectly - after first reboot nothing chanaged I still had system partition full , then I cleared cache and dalvik manualy from recovery rebooted and now occupied space on system was greatly reduced ? Thanks for your work .

Normal ones .

Bug
I just wanted to let everybody know that I found a bug in v1.3. If you install this on a newly installed ROM the data/app directory will not exist and therefore all apps selected that install on /data will fail. Not much of a problem as you can get them from Play Store but I'm uploading a new version to fix this and I'll update the OP.

Thanks. I'll check and let you know. Probably I will have to add a delay in the installation script.

Ok, I tried out your rom. Multiple attempts to install.
I get - first off a choice of if I want to use the wizard or not, and that seems wrong.
Then I use the wizard once, it crashes to the beginning, I use it again and it FC's.
After that I cannot get on my network, I do a network search, find ATT and select it but never connect.
I have tried every way I can think of to make it connect to ATT but it will not.
Thanks for the attempt at the ROM, but I had to uninstall it.

Well, I have tried myself to wipe data (all) when installing the ROM and it is OK.
But most of the case, you do not need to wipe data. Just wipe cache + dalvik-cache, you should not be seeing the wizard.
BTW, can you PM me the logcat and which radio version you are using? Thanks.
**Update: I have just wipe data + cache + dalvik-cache and re-install the ROM -> can go through the wizard without any FC. For network problem, is that you do not type in a correct APN?
great rom thanks
we need more roms like this one, thanx and hope you keep up the work....
Where did you get icons from second pic?

I will release version 1.1 Beta within few hours later.
It would include:
- A more complete build.prop
- A more complete apns-conf.xml APN list
- A revised hosts file
- Default kernel changed to Wildmonk's 2.6.35_SVS-950mV_CFS_AXI_NoAB_No720p_1113MHz_081910.zip
I am thinking of whether to include a few ICON replacements for the stock browser, calculator, calendar, clock and messaging. Icons are from crystal project in which they are under GNU public license.
Any ideas?

Apologies I did not log in till just now. I have installed InnovationOS so I don't have my log cat. However if you find it critical I can go through the install again and get it for you.
As far as APN. I have to admit not editing it. I did search for the network, it found ATT and I told it to select it. It would register but never get edge or 3G.
I do commend you. It's a great build idea. Check out Liquid Froyo on the droid. They are making slim lean and mean droid builds. I would love for that on my N1
Let me know if you want that log cat. It may take a day.

If you want to change to this modified version then boot into CWM wipe data and advanced> dalvik cache, restore this ROM and reboot. Do not perform a hard factory reset if you have CWM or you will fall into a bootloop. Flashable zip is a package created with a different technique (RUU) and can be used for flash not only ROM's but apps, mods and a CWM backup is when you make a backup of your entire system including data, cache, boot, etc images and is just used for ROM's.
Also another pro of a flashable zip is that you get more flexibility with the package, you could modify its content to your taste adding/removing apps, files so from a custom ROM you can make your own custom one.
~ Veronica
Please also add anycut to easy instal an additional keyboard.
With NT Hidden Settings, there's the option of "Accessibility Settings", there you can choose which keyboard to use at "Input Method"
I'm running Swype with no problem
Update 15/2/12
Alright UPLOADING v2, will be a flashable zip now no more CWM backup folder and a standar Apk_Package_Installer.zip with:
* Androzip
* Anycut
* App cache cleaner
* Dolphin Browser
* ES Bookmark Manager (to create shortcuts of your media on desktop)
... These apps are included in the v2 of this ROM.
As i have mentioned in this thread with a flashable zip you get more flexibility.
What does that mean? It means that you can delete apps that you don't want or add others by drag and dropping it/them within /system/app of the .zip
Edit: OP UPDATED!

I added a download link to a B&N_rebloat_FULL_1.4.0.zip i just made if anyone is interested. As the title of the flashable zip say it will rebloat your Nook with all B&N apps.
I placed the modified version of Hulu+ instead of the original one, that is the only "change".

Photon Fixes and Mods **BEING UPDATED**

FIXES AND MODS ONLY
SINCE MIUI V4 HAS BEEN BASED ON CM9, MANY OF THESE FIXES MAY WORK
DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS WITHIN THE THREAD
We already have the entire CM9 main thread overrun by repeat questions.
If you have a question regarding something on here, Private Message either myself or the persons I am crediting so that we may help you without mucking up this Thread with "Can you help me with this?"
Feel free to add Mods and Fixes that you feel might be useful for others.
If you didn't make it, be sure to give credit to the person who did.
Please also post a link to their original post so others can thank them for their work.
Thanks to everyone who developed these fixes and to the devs for putting together a great ROM for our phones.
FYI...I DID NOT MAKE THESE MODS OR FIXES (UNLESS I SPECIFY THAT I DID PUT SOMETHING TOGETHER). PLEASE GIVE THANKS TO THE PEOPLE WHO CAME UP WITH THESE FIXES AND MODS
Proper Flashing of ROMs (updated 9/6)
PROPER FLASHING OF ROM
Requirements:
Photon 4g-Must be rooted, unlocked, and have CWM on it (I recommend Jokerax's CWM V3)
A ROM ZIP
Gapps .zip
If you have already rooted, unlocked, and CWM'ed, skip 1-4
1) FIRST, go HERE and watch this video. It's how to install Android SDK. This will be important if you mess something up later and need to reinstall SBF. It also allows you to flash CWM to your phone.
2) Unlock Bootloader: Watch the video HERE. The links to the files you need will be in the "show more" area of the video. This will have you unlocked and ready for next step.
3) Rooting/CWM: Watch the video HERE. The links to the files you will need will be shown in the "show more" area of the video. Now you will be rooted and have CWM on your phone
4) Joker's CWM: Since this was made with his CM9 build in mind, I recommend using it for all your CM9 flashing needs. Using other ones can cause problems.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Go to Joker's site (Jokersax.com) and download the "cwm-non corrupted" in the "Cyanogenmod9 for Photon 4G" section, placing the file on somewhere on your phone you can easily find (I usually create a folder in my SD-Card called "ROMS".
Boot into your recovery and select "install zip from sd card"
Find the CWM .zip where you put it, and flash it.
You will now have Joker's CWM on your phone and be ready for flashing
NOW YOU ARE READY TO FLASH
PROPER FLASHING:
STANDARD FLASH ROMS
1) Place ROM zip onto storage on your phone (of your choice)
2) Reboot into recovery
3) Make a Backup (if you don't, it's YOUR bad if you mess up...)
4) Use Wipe All Zip found HERE
or
Wipe /system, /data, /cache manually
This is recommended...some roms you can get away with just Cache and Dalvik wipe, but many require the full wipe treatment
5) Flash Rom zip
6) Flash Gapps (optional)
7) Reboot and Enjoy
AROM BASED ROMS
1) Place ROM zip onto storage on your phone
2) Reboot into recovery
3) Make a Backup
4) Go to Advanced Menu
5) Choose Report Error
6) Choose Show Log
7) Choose Reboot Recovery
***THESE 3 STEPS SHOULD BE DONE ANY TIME YOU FLASH AN AROMA BASED ROM***
8) Flash Rom zip
9) Inside rom, you can choose your wipe option and other options.
10) Install
11) Reboot and Enjoy
CHEERS!

EASY, RIGHT?!
E-Z WIPE ZIPs (updated 9/6)
Hope you all like them...
Wipe-All.zip
Go to the site to download the file
WIPE-ALL.zip
Formats:
/Cache
/System
/Data
Dalvik-cache
WIPE-CACHE-DALVIK.zip
Formats:
/Cache
Dalvik-cache
Just CWM flash them like any other zip. MUCH faster and more reliable than manually doing it...not to mention no chance of accidentally formatting wrong partitions
Version 0.3.1
THIS IS FOR ANYONE WHO FULLY WIPED BEFORE INSTALLING 0.3.3 AND ARE HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH IT NOT BOOTING (OR IF YOU JUST WANT TO RUN 0.3.1 ON YOUR PHONE INSTEAD
Photon CM9 0.3.1
If you run into issues with 0.3.3 not booting up after doing a fresh install, do the following:
1) Format /System, /Data, and /Cache (can use the Wipe-All-Photon.zip in POST 6 for this)
2) Flash 0.3.1 from above link and Gapps
3) Reboot and allow phone to come to main screen but do not sign in, reboot back into recovery
4) Wipe /Cache and Dalvik (can use Wipe-Cache-Dalvik-Photon.zip in POST 8 for this)
5) Flash 0.3.(2, 3 +++)
6) Fix permissions
7) Reboot...should work now
Full-wipe-zip
do not use this before 0.3.2 if coming from 0.3.1 or else you may not have your phone boot

Here are a few ICS themed apks for Cm9, I did not create these just been going through every phones subsections scouring for ICS themed apks
Gmail and LatinIME.apk need to go into system/app
Clear cashe and data before renaming the preinstalled ones with ".bak" as back ups.
Dropbox and XDA(free version) can go in data/app
Make sure to fully uninstall Dropbox and XDA apps if you've already have them installed before installing these themed apks.
When I get to a computer later and have a bit more time, I'll find the threads that I got them from so proper thanks can be made to them.

Ok, hopefully this can stay as a fix here.
For CWM I also remember reading that Romeacer's 5.0.2.7-photon3 could also be used. I understand that it may also be linked on Jokers site. Later versions will not work.
I'm a MoPho-er
ICS Pandora
ICS themed Pandora, I didn't make this,
got it from http://www.droidforums.net/forum/yakitori/198676-ice-cream-sandwich-themed-pandora.html
This is an ICS themed Application Widgets picker, I think this should actually be incorporated into the next Beta build personally.
Download and Install like any other regular APK
Long press on home screen (or press Menu softkey, then select "add") to bring up "add to Home Screen" menu.
Select "Widget"
It'll promt you the option to choose the built in Widgets picker or the new one, click the "use by default for this action" check box and select the new "App widget picker 4.0.3" option.
Then your good to go
I've attached some before and after Screenshots that I tested this on my own MoPho, as I do with all Apk's that I find and post.
I have a "Fix" for the thing popping up in status bar telling you to "select input method" every time you open keyboard. Haven't seen this covered, if it is by all means remove this post though. Not really much of a fix, but it was something that drove me nuts trying to make go away.
Settings - Manage Apps - All - Scroll to bottom and find one with bunch of Japanese characters - Select disable. You should be good to go from there without annoying status bar message everytime you open keyboard.

7) Boot animation. I knot this isn't a fix, but who doesn't love to have options for boot animation? Stock ICS is nice, but I find these a little nicer.
a) CM9 Boot animation: Thanks to Akilldema. If this helps you go here Akilldema CM9 Boot Anim Post and thank him.
Here's a 6mb version of the bootanimation.zip CM9 Boot Animation
It's not much better, if any. I think it's related to the phone booting. Also, when I preview the animation, it plays perfectly.
EDIT: NEW FILE: New CM9 Boot Animation
b) RAZR animation: If you like this, go here RAZR Boot Animation Post and thank.
RAZR Boot Animation
These are not the only ones..they're the only ones I've tested. Others may work, but use at your own discretion...Simply copy these into /system/media (be sure to edit the name of your CURRENT bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak so that if it does NOT work, you can always go back ) Upon reboot, you will have new animation.

Th3bill, you should take down the 6mb version/notes.. the best 2 for us are the 540x960 ones posted here: CM9 Boot Animations. The 60fps is better for me, smoother.

It ought to, especially if users first wipe their cache.
a) Include the new files in the appropriate folders within the zip
b) Execute corresponding "rm" commands in the update-script to blow away the existing files
c) After those rm commands, execute the copy_dir command(s)
d) Execute the set_perm_recursive command(s)
It really ought to work.

ALL THE GOOGLE APPS IN ONE PACK
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS -- PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE TRYING
What is gExperience?
Its a pack that has ALL the Google Apps in one single place for which you can select individually what you want to install! This pack not only has the standard Google Apps but also what is available at the Play Store, including restricted apps not available in every country. It also has inverted versions for available apps. It also tries to install all possible apps to /data partition so you don't end up with no space in /system. Finally, you can choose to uninstall undeed files for your language (like Offline Google Now, Pico TTS). All of this fully customizable thanks to Aroma Installer.
What is included exactly?
You can check a list here. Please note that as of now there are some apps not available for install (even though they show up in the installer).
These unavailable apps are:
All Google TV apps (if someone knows where to get them, please PM me)
Google Catalogs (if someone knows where to get it, please PM me)
Google Apps Device Policy
Google Apps Lookup
Google Chrome to Phone (1 request so far)
Google Analytics
Google Authenticator
Google Finance
All Google IME
Google IO 2012
Orkut
Schemer
If I receive 5 or more request for any of these apps I will try to include them
How do I install this?
Just like any script in CWM Recovery. Just select the zip and let Aroma guide you through the rest.
Can I install on my NOT Defy device?
Is my understanding that this script should work with no problems with Bravo and Milestone 2 devices. It should work with other devices as there's no device dependent scripting. Please note that this pack DOES NOT includes FaceLock as it is not supported for my device.
Currently known supported devices:
Defy
Is there anything else I should know?
YES, please be aware that whatever you choose NOT to install will be DELETED from your device (if you have that app installed obviously). This only applies for apps installed with gExperience.
Can I install on top of my full size gapps?
You can, but it can lead to unexpected results. One thing you have to understand is that the app name can have any name (it will not affect the name of the app when you install it). For example, I can name the YouTube apk as "XDAYT.APK". It will install normally and with no problems but there's no way for the script to know the name of the file of every app installed so this script will only install and uninstall apps installed by itself. You're probably better off installing this on a fresh ROM with no gapps installed.
Can I translate it to my language?
Sure you can! Please point your browser here: http://www.getlocalization.com/gEx/
Languages supported:
English (by me) | UP TO DATE
Spanish (by me with some help from edqu) | UP TO DATE
Polish (thanks to trurl3) | 0.2 beta
Portuguese (Brazil) (thanks to GustavoMartins1 / claudiobastos) | UP TO DATE
Hungarian (thanks to hunya) | UP TO DATE
Chinese (Taiwan) (thanks to wjh) | 0.2 beta
Can I send you my calibration_matrix data?
You don't need to do it anymore! Amarullz updated the Aroma Installer and now calibration is not required anymore!:victory:
I want to report a bug! What shall I do?
Try to give me as much information as possible (like gExperience version, device, apps selected, etc). Also you could save the log right after the script finishes. You will see a "Save Log" button on the bottom left hand side.
This is too much for me! Is there a lighter version?
Yes, please see this thread.

Just download calibration.zip and then install it via CWM like any other script (Press Power button on first dialog to select no). After finishing the new data will be written to calibration.zip. Send it to me and let me know which device are you using! YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT BE MODIFIED. IT WILL ONLY GET YOUR CALIBRATION DATA AND FINISH

New version 0.2 beta is up! Now you don't need calibration anymore! Also added a few more translations (thanks to all that contributed) and fixed a few bugs! Check OP for download link.
Hi and GG it looks so cool, but why not include ALL gaaps and during installation tick what you want/don't want ?
thanks

[ROM]ICS[4.0.4] Baidu REPACK v28

What`s so special about this rom?
Well it is like Google made a rom for G300, only this one is the chinese "Google" company.
Original UI, ICS 4.0.4, good memory management, great 2g/3g use,
low consumption - you can leave wifi and gps on permanently - you`ll see
Butchered:
-Removed chinese apps, well ~99% is exorcised.
-Removed chinese cwm (you get that one in the original release )
-Corrected installation scrip
Download Link:
Baidu.zip - 156.19 MB
GAPPS_20132904.zip - 50.20 MB
boot.img - 3.77 MB
Installation instructions
- You have rooted, unlocked bootloader and a recovery (cwm, maybe twrp)
- Download zip file (rom), gapps for ICS and kernel (boot.img). And transfer that to SDcard

- Boot directly into CwM Recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe cache partition
- Advanced: Wipe Dalvik cache, battery stats if you have them
- Mounts: Format System

- Install zip from SDcard -> choose zip -> gapps (zip)

It seems that if I don't have any SIM card installed, Play Store would crash. BTW, AKA_Noodle, do you intend to refine/upgrade Baidu further ? Any chance you can install AOSP browser ...
BTW, my Russian is bad ... how can I reconfigure the Baidu browser to English language ?
Thanks

And what abt the music player? Can we change its language?
I found another minor bug.... the internal memory is not getting detected on my PC
