[Q]Can not play video. Three Neos different ROMs - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi!
I saw this problem some time ago, but I didn't care about. But up to now the other two Neos, owned by two friends of mine, show the same problem...and friends are a bit angry.
Basically the problem is when you play a video (someone use quickpic, other uses stock gallery) sometimes the player says "Sorry! Can not play video" and comes back to the whole gallery and obviously doesn't play the video. Usually this problem never comes to the first video you play, the average (through me and friends) is two videos, than crash comes.
I thought it was an issue from the SD Card, maybe the size of the cache in reading/writing, so I increase it from 128KB to 1MB (1024 KB of course), but unfortunately nothing change at all.
Maybe it could be a defect of the SD, but it could not be, because the three Neos showing this problem has three different microSD card. (I have "Mustang" 16GB class 10, one has 8Gb class 4, one has 8GB class 6).
About the three Neos, I have Xperia Pureness build 11 and the other two have JJ's doctor Hybrid rom 3.1, all with root ,cwm and locked bootloader.
Indeed the problem is showing on a Xperia Mini Pro, too. Here is installed "Real ICS Lite r5".
So I'm freaking out because I can not find the origin of the issue! All the phones have been modded by me (there all also an other Mini Pro and a Mini which are not showing this problem), but I didn't much things, just install rom, then deleted sony's bloatware.
Are in the phone memory some missing apps that can generate this problem? We deleted stock gallery (with an exception above) and use qickpic instead.
If I format the SD the error doesn't come for a while, then after few weeks (and photos and videos) here it comes again.
Thanks in advance

Use MXPlayer, I have the same problem, but it's easy to get past it.

Did you used Quickpic in the past, too?
I mean is possible that quickpic installed in the phone is the origin of the issue still not using quickpic?
just to know

Try to go to stock rom and check ..before trying use bsplayer

try to use low memory sd card. .like 2gig
if you 3 uninstall the 3 apk's most probably that was the problem
i have encounter the same problem then i found out the file that im trying to play is only corrupted.
kindly hit tnx if i helped. . ^_^

I'm trying "Gallery ICS" and it seems to work without error after uninstalling quickpic. Now it's time to verfy on the other phones...
I hope it works, it was too easy

I faced the same issue on the .431 and .431 based roms, now im using the .587 update for MT15a and now its gone

[Q] Help!: Mini Pro slow 'n' laggy after copying music to it!

I just copied about 7gigs of mp3 files to my 16gig microsdhc for my x10 Mini Pro
U20i, and it's become slow and laggy. It reboots when I try to start an app or
do anything "too demanding".
The phone is new and was rooted correctly with z4root 1.3.0 and I haven't flashed any roms to it or anything drastic.
If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it!
BTW it's a class 10 card (though I have my doubts at this stage). I've noticed from a facebook link that other people seem to be blaming Sony Ericsson for similar problems...
Factory reset then leave your phone to recompile media database before attempting to use it, if this fails i suggest looking into custom roms since there are usually speed increases of around 48 ~ 49 %
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
hmm...
we've done similar things.. I wouldn't blame the card or the fact that you've copied 7Gigs of music though...
One thing i've noticed, is that straight after copying new things android indexes all the files, so after a hefty amount.. it will take quite a while.
I have noticed with my X10MiniPro recently, that it's a bit slow and buggy... though that's probably with my setup:
- Apps2SD with davlik cache on SD Card
- Gingerbread ROM
- JIT
and a shed load of apps i don't need but i have the space on SD so why not?
should hopefully be making my own ROM when i figure out how to get Cygwin working. And hopefully that rom will have updates and stuff until my contract ends, so about october next year..
Thanks guys I already figured it out I think. It seems that android does indeed index files synced to the sd. After a few reboots I opened Camera, and it said something like "processing media" or something...strange lol. But it's fine for now And good look with your rom, maclarenvj

[Q] JB Rom help?

Hi all...I have been flashing for about a year now and I need help finding a JB Rom that works correctly. I have tried a few different ones, and most won't show my pictures or music even after I followed the guides to fix these issues. So I flashed Miui JB latest Rom and its real nice, but no BLN?? So, which JB Rom is stable for you with working GPS, mms, and shows no issue with music or picture files...AND has working BLN? If I could just find a kernel that would work with the MIUI JB rom to enable BLN I would be golden...alas, I can't find one and Devil won't work. Thanks guys!
I've been on AOKP 9-20 with Devil 1.5.2 with almost no issues. The only problem I was having was a few force-closes while using the camera, although after a few reboots it seems to have gone away. I plan to flash the new AOKP build 3 later on, which people are having great results with. I was on CM10 for a long time before this and everything was working perfectly, but I came back to AOKP mainly because Devil didn't work that great with CM10 and I missed blinking notifications and better performance options.
tl;dr AOKP or CM10 are both great

Hey thanks for responding! You haven't had issues with losing pictures or music files?? They are on the sdcard but no music player can see them...same as pictures, although QuickPic seems able to pull them up...I flashed the latest CM10 nightly, no music no pics...went back to stock and worked up to AOKP nightly, same issue! Got mad and flashed Miui JB and poof everything showed! Weird! I followed some of the guides I found through search for how to fix the issue but nothing worked...no problems with this for you though??
EDIT: I clean flashed AOKP build 3 and NO music or pictures!!! Going to flash the Devil and see if that makes any difference.
Yeah I've have no issues with pictures or music on any rom I've tried, however I'm no longer using the sd card that came with the phone. I had an issue mounting the sd card when I originally started flashing my phone (I had zero issues with the card before that time) and decided right away to buy a better sd card before flashing anything else. I ended up getting a 32GB class 10 which has been flawless. So basically the only thing I could think might be going on might be related to the sd card failing, especially if you're still using the junky one they give you with the phone initially.

I have the same sdcard I don't know, it's all over Google and XDA about this bug...I just feel like the only person on a fascinate that has it! Thanks for giving me some input tho!
If I were in your spot I'd probably try a different sd card if you have one available to try, or backup all contents of your sd card to your PC, format the sd card, and then transfer everything back.

LOL I tried that too. I honestly did everything I could think of or every tweak I found...that's why I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a JB rom that did not have this issue. It's cool though, I started using Google Music...transferred my music onto my pc and uploaded to Google music site. Then every time I update AOKP, I just will get the app and it will download the music to my cell. Not a perfect solution but it's tolerable! As far as pix, as long as I use Quick Pic they show up just fine. Of course I have to use a third party camera app since the AOKP camera won't work since gallery isn't. Thanks for any help!
I remember there being an issue with rom manager creating a .nomedia 'hidden' file:::: here is from a post of what I did to fix that issue::
Yep I was having this issue too,,, yesterday I had tried clearing the gallery cache and data,,, today I 1st tried clearing the media storage cache and data,,, hoping maybe just possibly that would help ... but it didn't... Also Tried both of my SD Rescan widgets, but neither worked ... so I uninstalled the ROM manager update which took me from 5.0.1.5 and asked me if I wanted:: " to replace this app with the factory version " which I clicked ""OK"" and that put it back to version 5.0.1.1 ,,,
then I cleared :: media storage,,, gallery,,, and Apollo :: cache and data ,,, and rebooted .... wallaha!!! gallery shows properly!!... THANKS everyone ,,,
,,,may have been slightly overkill but I what the heck,, just in case gallery and Apollo had anything hanging around ...
Now you were saying that when you flashed MUIU everything worked? I wonder if you could pull the Camera.apk from that rom and install it on AOKP to see if it'll work
I'm having the exact same issue.

Same issue here, happened a couple of cm10 nightlies ago. Never had a problem before, there were no reports of it happening to others but only a few of my pictures loaded, no music was recognized, neither were my custom ringtones, or videos. ODINed back to stock and it carried back to that... no idea how to fix it... although I think it is an sd card issue, the phone just isn't recognizing there being media on the card or only partially. Namely because if I pull the ringtone from sd and place in the ringtone folder in /system they appear. Tried just about everything, specially after hearing about the Rom Manager issue with .nomedia's being placed were it shouldn't have.
Other things I've noticed is that, an app like Root Explorer can access my sd and recognize the files inside to which I can select and use, but even after opening the picture/song/video they still don't show up in their respective apps. Also note, I have reformatted my sd card and ODINed back to stock to start over with no luck in either. I've since installed Rom Manager with no luck either.

Hmm I wonder? But how would that have any effect on the music part of it? Honestly I can live without the stock camera and gallery, its the fact that all my music is missing is the worst part...
Does MUIU have it's own music player? I never used it, so I don't know. If it does, take the apk from the rom and put it on AOKP to see if your music shows up. I wonder if this is just a glitch that hasn't been addressed simply because not that many people have encountered it. Perhaps this is a big enough issue to be posted in the general Q&A forums? Maybe that way you'll get more views and possibly better answers from people on other devices that may have got this bug.
I believe JB puts something on the sd card so ics and below won't show all of the media. I went back to JB and everything shows up fine.

Yup, that's exactly how mine is...I can see the files on root explorer or if I usb to pc but no matter what app I use to play music it says no music found on sdcard. I've used rescan app, moved onto pc and then formatted sd, blah blah. Nothing works. Oh well, it isn't enough to make me leave AOKP...I just work around it and wait for a fix I tried cm10 nightly, cm10 8/19, and a few others...same issue. Also if I use an mp3 downloader it will complete the download but when I try to play the song, it's NOT found! Crazy. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
using steves sept 27 build of aokp with devil 1.6 is my favorite and daily driver right now. only issue thats a serious problem is if you turn it on while its off and plugged in charging, it has a SOD or completely dies when i lock the screen. simple fix, turn on, as soon as you see samsung logo plug it in. this also fixes having no soft keys if you get that every now and then. no issues with with the gallery, camera, music or anything. i always odin back to GB stock and then go forward with THS build 2 of ics, then JB, then google apps and boot, restart to recovery then flash the kernel. im seriously impressed with this build

can you actually access and open the files if you mount the sd card in your computer? dont quote me but im betting on the sd card being near the end of its life
You think? Its just weird since if i flash anything else recent JB it all shows up fine...it started when i went from cm10 8/19 build (from rootzwiki) to the cm10 nightlies on the cyanogen site...and persists if i go back to stock and flash up to aokp JB or JB whatever. Then as soon as i flash the newest jb miui --whomp there it is! Strangest issue ever.

It could be a coincidence but it wouldn't hurt to try swapping SD cards if you have another laying around. They're also dirt cheap on amazon now too
Did you try this? Found it doing some google searching
The Internet said:
This trick didn't work for me. So, I did what the system should have done with the .nomedia file present. I moved all of my photos to a hidden folder (with a . before the name) and removed the DCIM folder. Then, I looked for all instances of the .nomedia file (Root Explorer helped) and deleted them. Rebooted the phone. Started Gallery. Waited for 10 minutes. Voila! Gallery showed every little image file that was on /sdcard. To remove the files that I didn't want to see, I copied the .nomedia file from a random system folder and pasted it into all the folders that I didn't want indexed. Strangely though, moving even one of the original /sdcard/DCIM/Camera files from the hidden folder into the current Camera folder took Gallery down. Stranger that this also made the Internal Storage show a blank window when I connected the phone to my laptop. Almost positive that this has to do with JellyBean creating a /storage/sdcard0 folder that's linked to the older /sdcard folder. Looking it up and will post updates if I find any.
Update: The same trick works for Paranoid Android's JellyBean ROMs (even the latest 2.13) for the Galaxy Nexus. Something to do with the DCIM folder and how it is handled by Media Storage. A Linux-geek friend of mine confirms this has to do with the /sdcard0 symlinking. Although, why we need something like that is beyond my limited knowledge of the OS.

Yes a root explorer and look for all those hidden .nomedia files and delete those ,,, and copy over an alternate .nomedia that was not associated with the sd card,,, that was one of them tricks

[Q] Constant crash on S3

Hi xda mems,
I have the S3 since august and it worked just fine... until when I used a new micro sd card ( sandisk) and put all my music and hd videos there. Right after that the music player and the video player keep crashing everytime, they suddenly stop playing and the phone is completely freezed. Sometimes I had to remove the battery to restart it...So I suppose that my s3 doesn't like the micro sd card much? Do you think I should format it?
I think that everybody has noticed that Polaris Office 4.0 can't work properly after JB update, in case you haven't, now you know it. So I'm left without a text editor
Plus some bugs here and there with Fb, games, even Touchwiz doesn't run smoothly.I've never managed to use Face Tag, each time I choose a contact to identify a person the phone comes back to the photo without a tag.
I have to reboot my phone many times a day and this pisses me off so if you have any solution for my problems then you're very welcome xD Don't hesitate to tell me if you're suffering these probs too
P.S : I just realized that when I update the music library in music squares I have the music square work just fine again ( it hadn't worked at all for me in a while)

[Q] SGS3 Gallery & Swiftkey Errors-Help Needed

Guys ,
I am currently using WanamLite XXELK4 V5.0 as my daily driver for my International Galaxy s3. Lately i have been experiencing two very annoying problems with the gallery and swiftkey apps. When i try to open my gallery from either the camera or gallery app (and at times even quickpic for that matter!) i get an error saying there is not enough space and i need to delete other items which is ridiculous since i have about 10 gig on stock memory free (i don't have an external sd installed).Secondly my swiftkey says it cant load the language pack and when i try to redownload it fails. I am mentioning this because these two errors almost always occur together.
Factory resetting my phone when updated to the xxelk4 rom seemed to have resolved the issues but only temporarily as after two or so weeks the errors are back. When in this state i also get database errors when trying to view the pics from Quickpic and when i take pics with the stock camera app (or third party camera apps) it shoots but does not save the images and it appears to be a data/database corruption issue but i don't understand what could be causing it i have run a disk defrag app on my phone once or twice and i wonder if this could have caused some problems with the integrity of my internal storage.
I have tried clearing app data but this does not solve the problem and fixing permissions in recovery proves to be only a temporary solution.I am hoping there is some help for me out there my internet serached thus far havent yielded any effective solutions.HELP!

Problem with storage?

Hi,
Lately I've been having problems with my SGSIII.
Problem started while I was on CM10.2 stable.
At one point (after a few days), every time I tried to download a photo using any browser, the download would be unsuccessful (gets to 100% downloading, then error's out saying "Download unsuccessful.").
I tried multiple browsers but didn't help. Some of them said the SD card is inaccessible, but I have no external SD card (had it before, but removed it).
Also, I noticed that the photos I took wouldn't show up in the gallery (would not load thumbnails or show photos), and every new photo I would take would not appear listed.
So I thought that was a CM10.2 bug, and exchanged it with a stock based ROM (NeatROM 6.1), but the problems persisted, except now it shows old photos in the gallery, but every time I would take a new photo the Camera app would freeze.
Transferring files from a PC has no problems, and the Internal Storage shows 3.5 GB of free space.
I tried clearing the data of Gallery app, Browser, tried wiping cache/data/dalvik, fixing permissions over CWM, but nothing helped.
Any suggestion what could cause this problem and how could I fix it?
I checked the forums and googled the problem, but haven't found a solution.
Thanks!
