Enable Jellybean 4.1 Emoji icons in ICS - HTC Rezound

Original credit for discovering the ICS fallback fonts goes to iridaki for the experia http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879056. I have just modified his version to work with our Rezound
I have tested this and is working perfectly to create the Android 41. Jellybean Emoji through out the ICS system, I am using stock Global RUU with a few modifications but this should work with any ROM. Please let me know if you run into any issues wit it.
I wanted this because i use the stock messaging system and noticed that i could not receive Emoji icons from other phone users, such as that crappy Apple product, in my messages., however i didn't wnat to use a 3rd party messaging app such as Handcent. With this enabled you can now send and receive special Emoji characters in the ENTIRE ICS system not just in the messaging app, please note to type the characters you'll need a keyboard such as Multiling Keyboard. Google enabled this option in Jellybean by adding a font to the fallback font script which contained the necessary characters to recieve the non standard Emoji's.
This zip contains the added font and a modified script so that when receiving a special character you will no longer see the boxes, but instead the Jellybean encoded Emoji!
Please note: I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, this has been tested and should in no way affect anything, but as always use at your own risk.
Steps to install:
Place HTCemojiflashable.zip onto root of external sd card
Boot into recovery and create a backup(important so you can revert back in case of issues)
Flash zip file using recovery(I recommend Amon-Ra 3.15)
Reboot and enjoy

Just a suggestion, I would make the OP a bit more clear for the noobs.
But anyway, good work!

Thanks! I thought the OP looked a little strange

Looks better. I just use the other dev threads as a guide as to how to structure my OPs.

Will this work on Sense 4 ROMs?

This should work for any htc rezound ROM. However i have not and most likely won't be testing it on anything other than stock so i suggest a nandroid first to be safe.

These work on Sense 4.1. I'm running Newt's One xXx 5.1.1
They are black and white icons. This is stated in the original thread in the Xperia's section, but I am just confirming that they DO work on Sense 4.1

Hold down abc and select the keypad type you want, obviously is the one with the face. Thanks for testing it on Newt's great rom!

Hmmm... well I flashed it twice and like I said I'm using Multiling Keyboard. When I try to choose the emoji keyboard, it says "Emoji codec not found. Please install if you haven't done so."

I believe there is a emoji codec that needs to accompany the keyboard, check the settings. Sorry I cannot help more I don't use it myself

Thank you so much for this! I'm on HTC Sensation and this works perfectly! Just wondering would you be able to, if possible to have the full emoji icon instead of the b/w? I know you go off of the JB release to get this, but maybe you can customize it, possibly? Also can you get OS6 Emoji?

i don't believe it is possible to do that without having a modified messaging apk. Android messaging does not have emoji support built in such as ios, this mod simply adds a font if you will that is programmed to display the emoji. Same idea as italic or bold font, not possible to give it color or anything like that unless the android message apk was written to encode emoji's, which it is not in JB or ICS so unless there is someone much better out there who can write the code for the apk i'm sorry i can't add the support. This will however receive ios6 emoji, it will just display it as JB would though, not an iphone.

MattedBLues on Legend

Anyone had any luck with this theme on the Legend with CM7?

did you try it? Do a nandroid backup download and try it - then tell us how it went..

It looks very goooood. I want it on my Legend!!!!
But i use Blayo´s Rom and dont want to change to cyanogen...
I flashed the Mattedblues theme made for the EVO (I think, found it in this thread) on my HTC Legend last night, and it basically almost works.
It looks amazing, and as far as I'm able to tell, there are no visual problems with the skin itself.
Thing is, if I try to turn off WiFi, I'm thrown back to the boot animation. It then boots up normally, with the WiFi still on.
I don't know if this is caused by settings on my phone, or by the skin being incompatible with the Legend. I tried to flash the version of the theme made for the G2 just now, but the same problem occurred.
Thanks Eirki, I posted your feedback here in case someone can advise:

Good idea, thanks. I would love to have this work for the Legend, it's by far the most polished CM7 theme I've seen.
Just tried installing for cm7.
Besides the wifi, I also found the keybord having grafic error ect. Gallery also broken.
awesome skin, if it worked proparly.
Hope here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044880
I now have MattedBlues working on my Legend. I used the method this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841720 (Method 1). It was actually fairly straightforward.
Using that method, I merged the theme-files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959065 with the files from the offical CM7.0.3 zip file. Just make sure you download the theme which is compatible with current version of CM.

Do you mean sharing the modified theme-files, or sharing a screenshot? As I have said in this thread, I don't feel comfortable with anyone distributing other versions of the theme without the creator's explicit permission.
But it really isn't difficult merging the files yourself. You should try it. =)

Maybe you can post a description of your achievement in the official theme thread, along with asking the creator for permission to post the theme for others? I personally think the creator will be happy his/her theme has reached another device??!!
It's all about sharing. Otherwise places like XDA wouldn't really be what it is today..

I really didn't do anything in particular with phone.apk. Is the theme-porter method not working for you? If it's a problem with the dialer, I might not notice, as I'm using Go Dialer.
@C_Man: Good point. I posted a question here. I fairy new to both Android OS and XDA, and I don't much of the etiquette yet. Figured I'd tread carefully.

Yeah i guess you also converted with hdpi to mdpi with theme-porter. If you do that everything works except the dialer.
The creator - jabbawalkee - said that, as long as I give proper credit, I'm free to distribute it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1699092/MattedBlues_for_HTC_Legend_CM7.0.3.rar
Here are the files that I've used. Apart from the dialer, some notification icons and the font being a little small, it's working like a charm.
If someone has an easier way of sharing files, that won't eat my monthly dropbox bandwith, please let me know =)
Also, I see people talking about a "thank you" button, but I can't seem to find it. Any hints?
I wrote a short howto and put it in the rar, but I recommend you check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841720 anyway. Good luck with the theme, remember to do a nandroid backup before you try anything.
The 'Thanks' button is near the Quote/MultiQuote/QuickReply buttons on the bottom right of each post. I can see 3 people have thanked you for your above post and file share
You mention: "some notification icons and the font being a little small," ...are you able to notify us:
- which notification icons?
- where is the font small?
This will allow us to report any other wierd behaviour.
1] Is this for 7.0.3 and above only or 7.x ?
2] Do we need S-OFF?
3] Do we need [MOD] full r/w access via overlay filesystem (any ROM) for this to work?
Thanks once again!
Notification icons:
The roaming icon (looks like the regular signal strength icon, only with an R on it) does not appear to be themed. Instead it's the standard green.
Also, for some reason, when wifi is turned off, the signal strength icon is gray not blue.
I don't use 3G or edge, so I don't know how those icons look.
The battery percentages icon is very difficult to read. This is easily bypassed by checking "Battery Percentage" in CM settings -> Interface -> Status bar tweaks. It's a shame though, the special made percentage icon is a lot fancier.
Font size:
This is most noticeable in the Launcher Pro Plus widgets, especially the Friends widget and the Pulse news reader app. It's definitely readable, but still a minor nuisance.
If this is a deal breaker to you, there's always the option of not installing the font or installing a different one. (If anyone knows a font that looks good on the Legend, let me know.)
1: CM-version: I have only tested these specific files on CM7.0.3. I made them by combining the MattedBlues files for 7.0.3 with files from the CM7.0.3 zip file. For all I know, they may work on other versions as well. If not, the MB files for other versions can easily be converted to Legend-compatibility.
2: Mine is S-ON, so I wouldn't think you need S-OFF (I don't really know what S-OFF entails, I'm somewhat of a newbie.)
3: Now, I have no idea what that is. I sure never did that with my phone. Looks like a way to write files to /system without booting into recovery. I just boot into recovery =)
Thanks for the above!
I look forward to trying it out!

Don't worry, this isn't a theme-related issue.
In 'pure Android', when you are online AND have the ability to connect to Google servers, the bars are green. When you don't have access to Google servers, the bars go grey. So the behaviour you see is normal [just replacing blue for green of course].
Question regarding the Apps folder in the *.rar file in post #16 above...
Can we simply delete the APK and ODEX files for the applications we don't want to install with the ROM or is completely the wrong and unstable way of doing it?

Yes, I'm fully aware of that function. However the only method that is allowed is the default keyboard option. Know of a specific keyboard app that is bigger, nicer, ans easier than the stock cm7 keyboard that works on all system apps and dolphin mini?
Thanks
First "Enable" then "Long Press" ...If your phone cant enable more keyboards, you might as well throw it out the window for an iPhone now.

Please don't take this the wrong way...
If you download a keyboard.. for example the "Gingerbread Keyboard" from the market, (Which is the one I use and looks much nicer than stock and is resizable to fit your needs). Then you go into the settings menu and enable this keyboard from the Language/Keyboard options menu. Then you go into a text message or something and longpress --> input method.. you WILL see two keyboards there, one Android keyboard, and the other will be your downloaded keyboard...
If you choose the downloaded one, it will systematically
change your keyboard across all apps within android to that one...
This is what I was speaking of... and this WILL do what you are asking...
If this is not clear please let me know..
^^ What a nice guy you are

Just tried downloading gingerbread keyboard. It says package file was not signed correctly. I'll try closing market and try again. I'm running the latest cm7 for the atrix.
Thanks
I installed hackers keyboard and it doesn't show up in the input method list. Trust me i've done this so many countless times on none cm7 roms. Just never tried it in cm7. I believe it will not work. I don't like that comment above where the guy seems frustrated explaining it to me. I already know exactly what to do. I am doing everything 100% correctly. However because of the fault of cm7, will not allow any other input method other than stock to show up in the input method field. Please confirm.

By any chance have you flashed any kernels?
May be that if so...
Also, try reinstalling the rom if it's not too much trouble..
My last time I loaded CM7.. certain widgets would never show up in the widgets list...but after I flashed a second time, it would work.. Its real finicky.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I have to only select 1 keyboard at a time even know it lets u select several at once. Kind of weird. Anyway Gingerbread fixall is pretty damn solid and I like it a lot. Not quite as amazing as the keyboard on Hyperdroid HD2 roms but it's a lot better than stock.
THANKS BRO
BTW - I pulled the latinIME.apk from the Hyperdroid hd2 rom and corrected permissions and I get force closes after reboot. Maybe it's because it's not QHD so it simply won't work. I wonder how easy it would be to port it over? I really love how that hyperdroid hd2 keyboard looks and it's the easiest to use.

I noticed that if the keyboard installs as the same name as a keyboard you already have it will only show one when you long press. I have found that if your third keyboard has a unique name it will show as a third choice ... but I'm glad you got it worked out, I like the qhd one in my last post, it installs as 3vo keyboard and is kinda awesome transparent!

Get ICS AOSP apps on Sense 3.6 Evo 3D [UPDATE-2] [+Calender App]

Hi all, I have not created the mod or apps. So all credit goes to the people where I gathered it from. Just thought of sharing it here because it was hard myself looking for it all the way. And since I found it, I'd like to share it with you guys.
ICS Notification Bar. Flash in recovery and you're good to go. NANDROID PLEASE. (Changes phone settings to stock ICS too) (Credit to VladBelsky, got this from his forum): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?h42x34ar49xk5t5
ICS Messaging Application (Doesn't replace your default app, freeze it in Titanium): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?g1rufbrrkbra6sb
ICS Gallery Application (Install as a regular .apk file and it DOES NOT support 3D pictures for obvious reasons but still a good eye-candy software to have on your phone ): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?fb79eppsoxfki3d
ICS Browser - For-Real (Install as a regular .apk file BUT IT DOES REPLACE your default HTC Sense Browser so I recommend you make a backup of it. Though as far as I've noticed, it's faster, better and smoother in many ways.): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2a4k523jvufjkw7
ICS Contacts Application (Flash via recovery, would not replace your regular HTC dialer): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?oyo19m5afnhef09
ICS Email Application (Not that much of use to me but still thought of sharing, Flash via recovery): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?8s8cs5xf0imxjqx
ICS Calender Application (Flash via recovery, not sure if it replaces the regular calender or not): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dbzviddbbkgwb7m
I found Contacts and Email on a One S forum. Tried out on my Evo 3D and it worked perfect. Though I got disappointed by the Contacts app as it still uses the regular call screen by HTC Sense. Lets wait till a complete port shows up. Other than that, the app works flawless.
I'll update this thread soon as I love AOSP apps and I keep looking for them always. I have a few more in my phone that I'll transfer and upload by tonight.
Hit thanks if you like and after digging so much, I think I'm ready to take requests.

Umm, I haven't tried that but you can always NANDROID and experiment new things. So do try and put down a feedback. And yes as it is the official ICS status bar, it must have support for 4G. Cant tell any more as I'm on GSM. Sorry..

You asked for it and it's here. ;D
I did not make this, all credit goes to the creator of Olympus trinity rom...
This is a 3d gallery apk, just like aosp version. I'm not sure if pics work but I tested videos and they work perfectly...
http://db.tt/4RrWz19z
Disregard, I think I had a faulty backup for those who read....
Confirmed. If you only want the Status bar and not the Settings to look like ICS AOSP, simply remove the Settings.apk.
I'm sure it'd work if you'd only want the Settings and not the status bar.
There are no FC's or anything like that. If you want battery percentage, you can just flash the battery mod for ICS.
This is bad ass thanks! Makes it look way better while still having sense
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Now if we could only get AOSP lockscreen, I'd be SOLD.
EDIT: Percentages did not show after I flashed the ICS battery mod.
Also, I renamed my mms.apk to mms1.apk, and copied the AOSP mms it into system/app as stated in 2nd post.
Except I never used Titanium, so no freezing. It did indeed completely replace my mms app. Works great.

[THEME][NEW UPDATES] Themed Xperia S/Z 3 Skin Keyboard For ICS 4.0.4 .587 and .431

Hello and welcome to my little contribution to the Xperia community!
Now time for a re-do!
NEW UPDATES!!!!! NOW BASED ON XPERIA Z!!!
Below keyboards are designed for ICS 4.0.3(untested) and 4.0.4 .431(untested) and .587(tested working) only, they will not work on Gingerbread
After much testing, and reinstalling apk multi-tool and the SDK, I now have the installation working!!
NOW NEW UPDATES REQUIRE 2 ZIPS. THIS IS TO INSURE THAT IT THEMES CORRECTLY AS I STILL EXPERANCED PROBLEMS
YOU WILL FIRST FLASH A "BASE PACK" THEN WHATEVER THEME YOU WANT
DO NOT USE THE 2 STEP WITH MY OLDER THEMES, IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!.ONLY FOR XPERIA Z BASED THEMES!!!
BASE PACK DOWNLOAD http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?caj1a24wgx2095l
All files are zipaligned.
SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS ARE WELCOMED!

I'm trying to find a soultion, but I think it's with the apps not the keyboard. If anyone can shed any light on this, let me Know!

Also if anyone can confirm that they work on .431 and 4.0.3 .562 I'll add to this post.
The Keyboards In "Attached Files" are for Gingerbread only, and are no longer in devlopment as I have no means to test them, sorry

Try the one from Iridaki's thread, links in the first post
I'll post the font I'm using later. I needed to mod it so the star didn't get cut off in dialpad
EDIT: Font attached. Please note this is NOT a flashable zip. Extract and install using your own method
Enjoy!
New Version
New version!
Blue swipe tail!
See first post
yeah for ics you need official rom. Doesn't work on nordic or others. Tried on nordic and doesn't show.
If you can provide textinput-tng.apk I can try to mod it to your liking
awesome works on ics tweaked v3
I really like this, just installed v3. I couldn't get swype beta to install on my phone running arconium 3c and now I don't think I will bother.
I know your only paying with colours and fonts atm, but are you thinking about playing with the design and layout of they key board?
Sent from my LT15i.
Well, I'm not too hot with xml editing, but I'll give it a shot
Your post had me thinking, maybe I could try oval shape keys, or even no keys, just letters
Been busy this week as kids have been on half term holidays. Should have more time to try out next week.
I have a red version ready to post, and an also finishing off an Ics standard kb atm
Let me know your thoughts, I'll see what I can come up with when I get a chance to play.
Well my first official suggestion / request for you if you venture down the design mod path is:
If you could arrange to keys on the number screen to be like the attached screenshot.
I find it much easier to enter numbers, bank accounts etc into emails and msgs with the traditional numpad layout.
I obviously know zero about modding a keyboard, maybe it's not easy to rearrange keys.... Haha but if your keen that would awesome.

New Uploads in first post!!!!!
New uploads
1st one is the international keybord as per my first uploads, but with red highlights insted of blue
2nd one is the stock ICS 4.0.3 Keyboard a.k.a Xperia Keyboard (the one with voice input from keyboard option) themed in a holoesque style
Let me know what you think
Please insure you do backups (either nandroid or extract your current one)
Also restart after install if you do it manually and change input when you have rebooted
Many thanks and I'm waiting to hear your opinions

EDIT: Screenshot attached of my setup
Odd none work on my 4.0.3
Maybe users can post what works and what doesn't on the Rom they use.

Iif it helps
Well..... I don't know.
All I can say if zip not working, try manual.
Maybe clearing data from app may help, and if installing manually backup to sd card than delete the apk in system then replace with correct permissions.
Seems to be ok for me
I'm running version 4.0.3, baseband 70, 4.1.A.0.563
Never flashed a kernel locked boitloader, rooted using doomlords method
Zip works for me, sorry if it's not working for you, can't understand why.
I really want to share my work with you all, but am not too informed when it comes to these things.
Hope I've helped somewhat.
For the reference of others interested in installing this, this worked 100% on my phone. Please see attached image for my current setup.

The new one is working fine!!

Anyone like this ICS holo themed Keyboard?
New version, screenshots soon......

Emoji Request

Some of you may or may have not noticed, but coming from a nexus 5, the emoji's were nice looking. Now that I'm on V10, the emojis are butt ugly. I've attached an image of what I'm talking about. The ones circled in green are what the new ones look like, and the red circled ones are the ones I'd like back. Clicking on them only changes what they look like when selecting them on the keyboard. Not what they look like when placed. Any way I can get them permanently?

How'd you do that? Just replace a file? Mind sharing it with me? I managed to use emoji switcher to get the Google ones back, but that's only for lollipop. The new Unicode update would be better.

Emojis are actually fonts so you can easily change it out.. here
Emoji 6.0.1
Use a root explorer (I use Solid Explorer...its what es file explorer used to be before it started taking drugs )
Navigate to /system/fonts/
Rename NotoColorEmoji.ttf to NotoColorEmoji.ttf.bak (this is your backup if you want to revert)
Copy the downloaded file into the font folder and set the permission to -rw-r-r (aka 0644).
Reboot and enjoy

Seems to have worked, thanks. Although I wouldn't really know what is new with them. Only thing that matters is that the LG emoticons are gone lol.

Lol well right now you would probably only be able to see the update for the already existing emoji you won't be able to see the new ones until you install a supported keyboard, I'll post the google keyboard from my nexus 6 later on when I get home from work/gym unless @Rydah805 can hook you up with a deodexed version first

Sadly I tried this a couple of days ago, says it can't obtain root on my phone. Yes, I granted it access. Really odd.

Before I used gungraves file, I used enough switcher to switch to the Google emoji's and then did a reboot and it worked perfectly.

Like I said, didn't work here. The Emoji Switcher app couldn't gain root and failed. I'll swap them manually when I have the spare time.
Well you could always try this method. --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...covery-install-unicode-8-0-emoji-5-x-t3266000
I ended up doing it all manually and it worked just fine for me. The new Unicode 8.0 emoji will ONLY show up in the AOSP keyboard for now. But the ones that were replaced with different images did get updated either way.
lol sorry I completely forgot about this....but the thread that @Virus.Shell linked to is a hopefully functioning 6.0.1 keyboard.
Not sure if you guys have seen this, but I installed these emoji, MUCH nicer than the stock Android ones and obviously nicer than the stock LG.

Probably should've hidden that number lol. Anyways, I don't use Google Keyboard. Too little choices of emoji's. KK Emoji Keyboard has a bunch of choices.

Welp, not my number or my pic. If he wants to put it up, more power to him. As for Google Keyboard, like the post says, there's a modified version that uses all the emoji. It's 50% of the point of my post
I have been using TouchPal app as a default swiping keyboard for all my texting all the while. And there are a lot of different kind of emojis in this app and it is free. Give it a try - I hope you will like it.
