[MOD] Remove Ongoing Wifi notifications, smart stay eye (MDK,ME7)Updated 7.26.13 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

This mod will remove the annoying ongoing wifi notifications in the pulldown for wifi off, wifi connected to, and wireless network available that is always in the pulldown. This is only tested on the stock odex rom, should work on deodexed but please make backup first in case it doesnt work because I have no way to test yet. Just flash in recovery and reboot. Tested using TWRP recovery.
update - added a new version that removes the dim eye icon that always stays on when smart stay is enabled.
edit: This will work on odex and deodex roms
update- added ME7 version, and added two zips for the smart stay eye. One removes just the dim eye, the other removes the eye completely so it doesnt pop up. Flash the dim eye removal zips after the wifi removal as they are just vrtheme zips that blank the icon.
This one just wifi removal MDK

All I need is the framework-res. Apk from the deodexed to do a file compare, I'm pretty sure that file is one that is the same either way so should be the same mod for both. I just don't have a deodexed downloaded yet and my Internet is super slow

Just flashed and it is golden. Thank you!

Yes, this is for stock rooted. I just flashed it and it is working great.
If you are already rooted, you need to go to the Play store and download GooManager. Download the mod from the OP to your phone. Run GooManager, hit options and flash Openrecovery. Reboot into recovery mode and flash the mod from the OP. Reboot and enjoy.
As soon as we get a WIFI toggle mod, I'll be a happy camper. I'm sure some devs are working on it.

Detailed instructions on the OP for this would be great. Flash via PC or the phone? Flash it with Odin or something else? Please......for us newcomers, detailed instructions help us learn so that we can teach others. Thank you, @skiddingus, for the details. Does this need to be saved to a specific folder?

Do you reboot into recovery from within Goomanager or through the volume +- key & power?

You will be able to flash the mod with the recovery installed by GooManager. Make sure the mod file from the OP is on your sd card. Once you reboot into recovery using goomanager, there will be a button titled "install". Hit it and you can browse to your mod file. Select it and flash it from there. Hit reboot to system from there and you're done. I did get a pop-up saying something about "fix superuser permissions" and "do you want to fix"? I chose "do not fix" and everything seems to be fine.

Im looking into adding the wifi toggle, removing the location icon from status bar, and some 1% batteries, and probably a semi-trans pulldown later today.

Flashed, works great.
To access the SD card to flash things, rather than choosing "Choose zip from sdcard" you need to choose "choose zip from external sdcard".
This works just like the regular CWM recovery on the Inc2 (For those that had it) no touch screen aspects of this at all.
For reference (and those lazy)
Boot to the bootloader (when phone is off, hold down power button and Volume Down button till you see the bootloader
OR type this in terminal while phone is on and plugged in (with adb and fastboot)
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
once in bootloader, and makesure fireball4.img is in the same folder you are working in
Code:
fastboot flash recovery fireball4.img
Code:
fastboot reboot
- Or choose "reboot" in the bootloader.
And now you have the recovery. To access it (while phone is fully booted):
Code:
adb reboot recovery
It works perfectly. Thanks

im confused by your question?
a recovery is unique to a phone
u can go ahead and try to run an inc2 recovery on your phone and see what happens, but i don't suggest it lol.
i also didn't build this, I asked utkanos and he did it.
I haven't tried/put in any effort to build a recovery.
I'd like to get the soft keys working on this.

I'm guessing he means he was using a CWM recovery on his OG Dinc. I also used the CWM recovery on my OG Dinc and was very happy with it on that phone. CWM did all I needed and worked very well with the pro version of ROM Manger to do scheduled Nandroid backups. Based on that experience, I'm leaning towards using CWM, too. (FWIW, I'm also using a CWM build on my Kindle Fire, too)
This is why I asked if he built it from the dinc2 just curious

If you look at his screenshot, you'll notice that ROM Manager thinks his phone is the Inc2. That's why he's asking.

Great catch. I missed that entirely. That could create a bit of a problem if he tries to install a ROM. Sounds like a question for Koush.
I checked the download section of Rom manager for ****s and gigs and that's what I found. Secretly, I was hoping that cm would magically be in there

I think its possible to flash a Sprint SM-G900P 4.4.2 rom on this phone if you follow the following steps:
1. Have custom recovery already installed and a backup in place in case you need to flash back.
2. Place the rom and stock kernel on phone SD
3. Boot into custom recovery, do a full wipe
4. Install the SM-G900P touchwiz based rom, do not reboot yet
5. Flash the stock SM-G860P _NG3_Stock_Kernel.zip provided in Post #1.
6. Restart the phone
@SeanRinVA and @wolfleatherworks :
You guys have showed interest in getting MOAR on your SM-G860P phones, so I thought I'd mention you here to help you find this thread. Make sure to have a nanoid backup beforehand and let everyone know how it went.
I'd watched the MOAR thread for a while, but it wasn't compatible with the SM-G860P (hung boot).

@tdunham just posted this yesterday and the second post this morning, but yes, he's looking for someone to test it (neither of us have the G860). If you have the time, could you give this a try and post back success or failure? Especially if you can get MOAR installed.

I'm not sure what adb was for. You don't have drivers installed with a running rom so you can copy everything over to the phone?
Did you download the stock rom last night because the stock rom last night had a problem and has since been replaced. The one you should have the same name as the link in the OP. I even flashed it to make sure it would at least run.

I was using ADB since I didn't want to restore from backup until I was done testing. I'll try re-downloading and doing it over again to see if I can get it working, I'm off work today so now is the perfect time to try it further.
So this has me stumped -- For some unknown reason, I seem to be unable to copy over SM-G860P_NG3_ROOTED_DEODEXED.TEST.zip using MTP. I fiddled with drivers for the last hour and i'm at a loss -- it doesn't seem to be a driver problem, I can copy over MOAR and other files, but it won't let me copy over your test at all.

So, I'm not attempting to be dumb here, but it might be inevitable.
G900 stock roms boot with G860 kernel?
I use MOAR ROM(havent tried any other roms yet) for 900P and the the kernel zip in post #1 and using steps in post #2 I am running on it now
Great. Being a stock-based ROM, I would imagine that all stock Roms work with G860 kernel. Consequently, all AOSP ROMs should work with a kernel compiled for G860. There are 2 new G860s in the house and my intent was to compile CM11/12 for the Sport; however, if all that is necessary is the kernel&modules I won't bother pulling blobs.
Thanks. The phones aren't entirely at my disposal or I would do more testing.

It works!
I used the instructions here to install the rom for the G900P as linked to below. I've messed with it only for about 20 minutes but it worked perfectly fine! So much bloatware though, and I'm coming from the S3 scene and am not too familiar with what the G900P had to offer in terms of custom ROMs. If anyone knows a good lightweight one with powerful customization options please let me know so I can try it. I am doing my first backup of this ROM as I type this and will also be doing a restore of my previous ROM (stock with the bloatware removed manually) for now and will probably tweak the MOAR ROM more later this week. Just want to say thank you to everyone in this thread, you guys are amazing!

I saw a couple of links in the recovery thread for the sport full resotore.. One link the files are over a gig, the other one is for about 848mb.. I wounder which is the real deal... The first link I could not download crap, but the second one I did. BTW is the modem included in your file for your rom?I was woundering because if I flash MOAR were can I find the modem or does it matter

[ROM] [N915PVPU2BOC8] [100% Stock, Root, Odexed/Deodexed, No KNOX/Itson] [4/28/2015]

I bring to you completely stock builds of Lollipop (N915PVPU2BOC8). Built from the official Samsung tar. The rom is rooted and has init.d/busybox support. Knox and Sprint Itson has been removed completely. The roms are available as odexed and deodexed . Also included in every rom is the OC8 modem and HLOS patch to ensure you have the latest modem with this rom. (the HLOS patch is the factory Samsung modem patch and I simply added it in just like the official tar. I have no other details, it is official from Samsung and apparently has an important purpose.).
Other than having root, the removal of Knox & Itson, these roms are completely stock in every other way. These roms are stock and will stay that way. Please don't ask for mods, changes, etc in this thread. These roms are intended for those people who want the stock roms in their original form with the addition of root and removal of Knox & itson as well as other members who need a good solid base for their rom projects. I WILL NOT add the hotspot mod to this stock rom. there is a seperate thread for this. Some people actually pay for the hotspot and the mod does not need to interfere in any way for those people.
I give permission for other dev's/chefs to use this rom as your base and I highly recommend that you do so because it is bug-free and built from the official Samsung .tar. However I do expect credit if you use this rom or portion of it for any other project. If you like my work please press that Thanks button and consider making a kind donation for my efforts. Enjoy!
Important Note: Before flashing ANY Lollipop ROM. including this one, you MUST first have done one of the following: Taken the Lollipop ota update OR odin flashed the stock N915PVPU2BOC8_N915PSPT2BOC8_SPR rom tar. If you are still on any KK based rom (including any KK AOSP/CM based roms) then you MUST first update to Lollipop by one of the two methods I mentioned BEFORE flashing either of these roms..
Flashing instructions: ***Before beginning the flash/setup process MAKE SURE your battery has at least 50% charge and/or connected to the charger!!!***
1. Backup anything you don't want to lose off your internal storage to another location.
2. Download the rom using your pc. (downloading with your phone has a much higher risk of file corruption. Not recommended with large files).
3. VERIFY the md5!!! Once the download has finished, compare the AFH md5 using a md5 tool on your pc. (Google is your friend).
4. Put the downloaded rom onto your internal storage or external micro sd card.
5. With phone powered off, reboot into recovery by pressing and holding volume up, power and the home button until you see the samsusung logo then release all buttons.
6. Once in recovery choose the wipe button and do a factory reset three times. Optional but recommended is to do a "Data" wipe. This will wipe all of your internal storage so MAKE SURE you backed up first like i said in step #1 above! Then go to "advanced wipe" and select all of the partitions EXCEPT micro-sd card and internal storage. Internal storage is optional but recommended on first time flashing Lollipop.
7. Choose the "Install" option and select the rom "N915PVPU2BOC8_Odexed/Deodexed_Stock_ROM" from either your internal or external micro-sd card. It will flash the rom and give a confirmation once completed.
8. Press "Reboot" then "reboot system".
9. Initial rom setup will take several minutes and remain on the yellow Sprint Spark screen for at least 13 minutes (definately much longer than what you are used to). Let the phone setup/optimize for at least 15 minutes and the screen WILL eventually turn off once it finishes.
10. When you see the screen turn off, you can proceed with the setup wizard. Once finished with setup wizard wait a few moments and the phone will automatically install the sprint apps. You must either "accept" or "disagree" with each and every google prompt for these apps or else the installs pause untill you do so.. Also you will be prompted for the "connections optimizer". Quickly set it to what you want and close it. That's it! You're done!
flashing anything on your device is done at your own risk. There is no way myself or any other developer can guarantee that flashing this ROM or any other file will not brick your device or otherwise cause some other type of damage. This is just a standard warning. I am not responsible for anything that you do to your device.

Quick question about the hybrid rom. It may be similar with stock but every once in a while I bump the phone and the screen turns on. Is there a way to turn off that feature or is that even an option?
Thanks and sorry to post in this stock thread but I just don't know if it's a glitch or a feature that is turned on.
Edit: I'm an idiot. It was a notification app I downloaded and completely forgot I had done so. Removed no more screen coming on.

Do i have to have rood and custom recovery. Or just be 100% lollipop? And by this having
No KNOX/Itson will it still trip the counter?

Yes you have to have root and TWRP custom recovery is the recommended recovery (just use note 4's twrp it'll be a little jumpy but it works) and i don't believe it trips the counter I wanna say I'm 95% sure it doesn't

The answer is yes to all of your questions. I think you should do more research before tampering with your phone so that you first know exactly what you're doing and secondly learn how to do what's required to flash a custom/stock rom. You WILL trip the KNOX coynter on your phone if your root and flash non official roms. There's more information about this, just search.

This may or may not be a feature on the Note Edge. I haven't heard of it before. The only feature that I know of that is similar on the regular Note 4 is the vibration upon picking up the phone to notify you of notifications. But this doesn't turn on the screen. I suspect your issue is somehow part of the stock rom because I haven't changed anythin in the rom that would cause anything like this. I'm not familiar with the Note Edge.
I will build a new X-Series rom with V4A if there is enough interest and continued support from users.

Not to be rude, but there is a thread directly below this one dedicated to the hotspot mod. Just a little reading might keep more of these developers, who are doing this for free for us from just calling it quits. Again just my thoughts.

I can read just fine and no one cares about ur thoughts. I was just asking to incorporate the hotspot mod with the next rom so we don't have to flash multiple times and manual delete files for people new to flashing. Donation made

[ROM][6.0.1][V3.5][J700P] minz1's Debloated, Deodexed, and Zipaligned ROM

This is my debloated & deodexed ROM created for the J700P!
Credits to @SuperR for his nice kitchen. I like using it. He's also helped me out with the #BYNAME issue.
Thank you also to @messi2050 for telling me about SuperR's kitchen.
Also, thanks @SykkNyzz for discovering the MVNO Slayer listed below!
And finally, thank you to deega for his MVNO Slayer!
Report bugs underneath this post.
Flash using TWRP. Factory reset beforehand. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU BREAKING YOUR DEVICE!
Changelog
1.0.0: Intial release.
1.0.1: Fixed #BYNAME references, which were making the zip impossible to flash.
1.1.0: Got rid of the deodexing; it won't boot.
1.1.1: Added back ANT radio service apps, the first time setup, and the Sprint activation apps. Thanks @JCS44 for the tip!
1.1.2: Removed a couple of overlooked apps.
1.2.0: Removed SuperSU and replaced it with phh's Super User. Removed ANT radio service apps; they're only really for smart watches and such. Put back in SecurityLogAgent(remove this afterward; it's to fix a notification bug.). I have also added back in TransmitPowerService in an attempt to fix the WiFi/Data issues.
2.0: Fixed everything. New version doesn't come with root. Ignored all the dumb fixes I tried earlier, and actually researched each app.
2.0.1: Fixed APN settings and re-added Clock and Voicemail.
2.0.2: Updated Voicemail. A couple of other tweaks.
2.0.3: Fixed phone bug.
3.0: Updated to newest version.
3.5: Updated again to latest stock.
Download Link: 3.5
Screenshots
Instructions:

Hey guys, I've been working on a ROM for the J700P. It's debloated, and I'm not too sure on how stable it is.
Credits to @SuperR for his nice kitchen. I like using it.
Report bugs here, and see if you can get the .zip to work. (I can't)
Flash using flashfire/odin, and if you can get this to become a .md5.tar, then great. I'll add a link to that .md5.tar in this post.

I can't get it to boot past the boost mobile logo. It's been a good 20 minutes and it's still stuck there. What are the exact steps once you boot into twrp to get this working correctly?

That means the J7 is incompatible with deodexing. I'll update the post right now with a version I made just in case there was this situation. Sorry, I haven't had time to properly test it.

im having a hard time getting 4g. there are bars but they go between 1 bar then 2 and back and forth. no 4g tho. as if its not on.

wifi also doesnt work. so you have to fix the setup wizard, data and wifi. im running this on boost mobile variant. maybe keep the boost zone app so i can update the prl so my data can work for my variant.

Alright. I'll try to see what I can do. I'll try to fix this.
EDIT: If you want, you can become a tester. I don't have my phone right now. When I get it back, this process will be faster.
tried 1.1.1 and wifi and data is still buggy. wifi doesnt work at all and the mobile data goes to 3g sometimes and then nothing. last build it would go to 1x so theres progress. i try turning wifi on and it just turns back off.
EDIT: got 4g by updating the prl and profile in system update. but still no wifi. instead of going back to stock rom i can live with having only 4g so i can do more testing when theres new releases. 4g does drop to 3g time to time. it spends more time on 3g than 4g.
heres some screenshots. notification bar is stuck on "checking device status....."

Thanks for reporting the bugs! I'll look into the wifi/data problem, and for the "checking device status" notification, try turning off auto-updates. What steps did you take to update the system prl and profile? What did it change? Can you capture it?
EDIT: You have TWRP, right?
I think the transmitpowerservice folder you deleted in privapp has to do with the wifi. The checking device status is because it's missing securitylogagent, that checks to see if the device has been tampered with. You can add it back then disable it giving the notifications with packagedisablerpro from the play store.

Its been doing that. Said i was gonna try it sometime this weekend. Been having weird no signal issues i believe is related a baseband issue if i reboot be3n taking upto 5 min to get signal. I did a lot of blind tweaks after my last weeks reset and thinking i did something wrong

Um i know we dont really talk about telegram much any more but i got a semi private group with a few well known fellars but if any of you where to join you could probably ask cyborg or a few others for tips. It can be off topic a lot. And be quiet but the idea i had was to pretty much gather up as many devs and legit sources on unlocking and other mobile related services and have a big collaboration group. We all talk dev related everynow and then
But if any of you want to join your more than welcome

So thats a xposed issue. There is a fix by modding a couple files somewhere. Since i dont run xposed i havnt faced it. I run a stock rooted that i tweak on my own. I havnt used cyborgs rom in a while due too a feww needed, debloated features. One was being bluetooth losing parings... I swapped over to this right before the fix was found and havnt bothered to try it but others said it works great. Me and several others came across the fix on xposed github. But since then its been posted a few places including some page on cyborgs many
