[Q] Paranoid Android PIE settings - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I am running PA version 3.60 for Android 4.2.2 on my GT I9100.
I can't seem to find where I edit the settings for Pie such as number of buttons and the individual colours of those buttons and the rest of the semi-circle menu that comes up. Where are these settings found?
Thanks in advance

Not had much chance to have a proper look, been searching for a solution to my problem, really want to play around with customising the look of the pie menu. All previous versions have been awesome tho, despite a few problems that people were having in the thread posted above

Just waiting on Batt to charge and il flash. Read the thread. not a lot of input but its new,if I can help I will be you should ask on the thread.

Will when I get more posts under my name One thing I have noticed is that on the browser, the icons at the top (under the tab, to the left of the address bar) are invisible.

Any more info?

Yeah you can anchor the pie to the top, bottom, right or left of the screen. I have it on the left and sometimes while scrolling through screens you often open the pie when you don't intend to, which can be annoying. But that can be easily solved through changing the settings (in the few settings I have) and just by getting used to where you touch the screen.
Be there any other info ye seek?

Post building way mate. got it running now and its smooth. Had to get rid if pie. Messes with ma keyboard. What gapps did you install. I did new one of goo but playstore won't load up

Seems OK to me. Also the xperia z music apk and gallery work nice and looks really nice

[CM9/AOKP] Circle Button Fix

Sorry if this has been posted before and if it's in the wrong section.
Here's a quick fix which will allow you to use your circle button cm9 based roms, and where circle simply backs you out. Tested on aokp and fpse button mapping works...
http://db.tt/FQS2hmEC
To use:
Download the file onto your phone.
Using a file manager move it to system.
Set permissions as rw, r, r.
Move to the system /usr/keylayout folder.
Reboot.

AokPlay already has this built in, and also has a fix for touchpads in FPSe. xDark ICS also has same patches, but that's based on the stock ICS 4.0.3 beta.
Update your ROM's guys :silly: Or harass your ROM creator to make a patch already.

This fix works, but not if you have "hold back to kill" set to on. I can use the circle button, but holding it results in the application being killed just as holding back would. I don't know if that's possible to fix, but if it is, would be great.
This works on the emus but the problem with this fix is that it kills other games like fifa. The correct behaviour for that button is alt back. So that when it is pressed at menus it goes back. The problem is that this behaviour continues in game and does not map to the control. Very strange.

PIE CONTROLS of paranoid android on any rooted rom

Firstly, this is not my work. It's something i came across.
PIE controls is one of the coolest features of paranoid android 2.99, but only few can switch to pa 2.99.
So this is for those with locked bootloaders or on other roms,
all u need is to be rooted.
It offers you every bit of customization, from color to animation to even your own icons and you can also select which apps should have the pie control and which shouldn't.

I assume that this LMT is more for people who prefer to stcik to a stock rom or a rom that's doesn't support "PIE control" (for whatever reason )..
Honestly it's not the same, but you can find the core functionnality.
I just hope google guys will hire these people who had this idea and put "Pie control" in the next Android releases.

Toggle Grid View / Notification Does Not Fit
Hi. I can't find the best settings so that my notification drop down and my grid view drop down will fit the screen. Both of the displays are cut-off partially.
I tried System Settings > Hybrid Settings > UIMode > I tried to set to Phone but it always stays at Phablet.
any other settings that I have missed?
thank you.

Try checking the layout setting for system ui, 360 is phone mode 600 is phablet.
To be honest, I found editing things in the hybrid settings a little flakey. I do all my DPI and layout changes manually by editing the /etc/beerbong/properties.conf file...much easier for me to figure out what's going on when something looks funky

Okay, so FIRST OFF, I'd like to avoid any flak I may take for this guide lol. Also, I'm not gay or anything. I just prefer not to sound boring and unclear, unlike a lot of people aha. Before you start saying, "CyanogenMod iz da [email protected][email protected]!" and "Yew suk newb unlok yew bootlodah!," I'd like to point out that SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH there are a lot of people here who haven't been able to unlock their bootloader, thanks widely to T-Mobile USA. -.- So there are many people who have root and recovery, but are unable to install ROMs and feel unsafe flashing European phone versions, only to mess up and screw over their phone's digitizer with no knowledge of how to fix it! Alright, so to all you experienced users, disregard this section aha! Basically I'm teaching you how to root and gain CWM access in a broad 3 step process. Enjoy!
Click to collapse
STEP 1.) Root your phone. If you're on JB, use THIS METHOD. You don't need to do the spritebud check, just run the application provided and it should root you. After you do this, install the Superuser app from the Play Store that was developed by CLOCKWORKMOD, and start it and select "install" on the popup dialog. If it failed to install the binaries, run the LGPwn application again and do it a couple more times until it works, if it doesn't, ask for help on his thread.

STEP 2.) Install busybox and CWM. Go to the Play Store and download the BusyBox app made by Stericson, and install busybox. Then go into Artas' L9 Recovery Installer, and install that. You can find the recovery HERE.

Click to collapse
STEP 3.) When you power on your phone, the LEDs should flash repeatedly for about 3-5 seconds, in order to enter CWM Recovery, press the VOL DOWN button and it should load up the menu. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING YOU AREN'T SURE ABOUT.

Before you freak out, yes there is customization with rooted phones that doesn't require an unlocked bootloader! The best of which is done using the Xposed Framework, a guide that I made HERE. Check out that guide, it's also a work in progress and YES, I know, it looks hideous. I'm not good at formatting on forum posts, but HEY. I'm learning.

Alright, so you've either continued to read here because... 1.) You're a rebel who didn't click the LINK DARN YOU, 2.) You've themed your phone with Xposed (AWESOME), or 3.) You didn't want to because you're a BORING LAZY POOPFACE. With that being said, ever seen those stupid QSlide apps that you MAY or MAY NOT use? You can't remove them on stock. They take up space and make it look all.. blegh. BUT! There's this really awesome guy named @mateo1111 who created a mod to remove those pesky space-wasters from your precious notifications! AND, if that wasn't enough, he created a mod to make your notification bar PITCH BLACK. It looks absolutely, undeniably, SICK. Here's the links to each of his posts.

Now, there are also modified applications available, in various colors and formats. I personally am a huge fan of transparency, as I use a setup with a (usually) galactic wallpaper, and set that as my keyboard background using "Kii," and have my epic background in all the apps I use But how would I do that? Well, "Team Blackout" has made it easier than ever! I'll leave links to their stuff below I highly recommend their things, and they actually complete orders and requests. It's amazing, and I can't turn back to the bright white and ugly color schemes that Google uses in their applications. Check these out guys

There's a TON of apps in the Play Store (More than iOS now W00T!), but the best are often hidden among the popular Chinese ones filled with advertisements. (Go Dev, I'm looking at you.) So without further ado, here are the applications that I absolutely recommend without a doubt to ANYONE with this phone, or any phone, for that matter.
Textra - This is a given. It's a texting replacement app, and its ingenious Group Chat feature is unrivaled and is cross-platform. It even has an amazing feature to turn on data only when sending/receiving MMS. Amazing. Also, it looks a lot like the "Kik" app if you know what that is. I personally am not a fan of that iOS/Android-blend kinda UI, but it's doable I guess. I recommend using Hangouts for SMS now.
Next Browser - Wow, Go Dev Team actually made a decent piece of software for once! Don't get me wrong, I'm no developer, and couldn't do any better, but their applications are bloated into eternity. Sadly, I've watched this browser get more bloated slowly and slowly, but at least they haven't advertised their other apps in it yet. ANYWAYS, this browser is really fast and smooth, but doesn't sync across devices like Opera/Chrome/Firefox, so sorry to multi-device fanatics.
A replacement launcher - Smart Launcher, Apex, Nova, Holo, Action, anything but the stock LG Home. Please. It's too slow and wastes RAM, and is kinda blegh in my opinion. But to each their own.
Duolingo - Learn a language. Seriously. Do it. It's fun on here. The tools are amazing and it's simply... simple. Spanish/Italian/Portuguese/German/French, and more being added in time. You can also learn English, but I don't see how you'd be reading this..
Bible - Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and do not take this as an offense, however, if you are a Christian, this is the most useful spiritual tool you can get on Android "Got Questions" is another good one.
Kii Keyboard - Simply the best. If you know how to use the "Freedom" app, you can crack the in-app purchase to get the full version, not that I recommend it. I've used this since the beta in January (I think it was January) and it's simply gotten better and better. Swype couldn't lure me back.
Music - Omich Player is the best music player on Android, if you want to listen to music. There's apps with 50 different equalizers and a ton of crap I don't want, when I just want my music. This one does just that, using the older Play Music style. It also sports an option for a transparent background.
WifiKill - It kills Wifi. Kicks people off of the network using a simple, yet effective, ARP spoofing method. It literally takes a touch of a button. Great fun when in school or university, and you feel like messing with the teacher or

Oh, so you do want to play games, eh? NERD. Kidding. Anyways, here's what you gotta do. Go HERE and see the second post. Flash it in CWM Recovery (You did install that, right?) and go to "Settings -> Storage" LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE HEHE. Side note: If your SD Card is less than a Class 10, apps installed there won't run as fast as they would on the system. So if you truly have no need for extra memory, please don't do this with a bad SD card just for lulz ahaha

Is there a mod for switching our status bar to an s3 or s4 status bar?
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Thanks a lot.
Works great!
Removing T-Mobile My Account will have zero adverse effects on your phone, it's just bloatware and can be downloaded on the Play Store if need be.

I'm sure there's an S3/S4 CyanogenMod theme, if there is we can port it and I'd be glad to help you. If there isn't, you can try another.

Woah, you serious? I heard somebody did it and it glitched out their billing or something. Have you removed it? I don't want to edit it without knowledge.

I tested it, it worked fine on V20F Want me to post the link on here and give you credits? Or, you could make a thread of your own in the "Development" section and I could provide the link to your thread for the download.

I'll fix it, thanks. Kudos.
I tried flashing the CM10 messaging app (the one that says mmsstock.apk) and it's not showing me anything different, even though it says it was a success. Any ideas?

Awesome collection of Mods for DN4 by @AholicCert

Who knows
Thanks for this.
Just a suggestion, the 'menu key remapping' makes you lose Recent Apps.
Isn't stock key behavior be more useful instead? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57063835&postcount=42213

Hi @silentvisitor
I tried them both but I mean they only change the menu key |remapped<> stock(DN4)|
And on remapped you lose the recent apps feature, so thought the stock (Note2) key behavior would benefit more. So I mean:
|stock note2 remapped <> stock DN4|
Your call tho'[emoji106] [emoji6]

ive experienced that one at length, it can be frustrating to get past. in my case, i reflashed everything without wiping data, then rebooted. lock screen hangs at that point, but eventually it resolves, allowing access to settings. when it does, go to lockscreen setting and disable completely. then download any aftermarket lockscreen and enjoy.
