HTC Butterfly S announce- Everything the One should be - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Seriously... it has 5 inch screen, 3200 MAH battery, micro sd card and the same processor. What do you guys thin? Do you think once again we got the short end of the stick? The HUGE battery is what gets me. I hope it is like the DNA and can work on GSM carriers, I might grab one if the price is right.

Micro SD. Bigger battery. Bigger screen. Only 3 reasons why I'm looking to get the S4. If this is released on American soil I will gladly get rid of the One for this

I couldn't agree more. I ordered the S4 Active and it will be here tomorrow. I will miss Sense 5 but I had no choice, the battery life was killing me and a 5 inch screen is a sweet spot.
If it has US bands (LTE and so on) I will gladly buy an unlocked version

The battery is bigger than the Note 2's battery. HTC is finally listening to their customers. If only it came with the Snapdragon 800...I would definitely get it. However, our HTC One still looks wayyyyyyy better IMO.
Sent from the "ONE" for me

The phone is being made for the Taiwanese market as of right now it doesnt have any LTE bands, US or International. Also its made of glossy plastic instead of the aluminum the one is made of. To those complaining about it being better specced, There will always be better phones in the pipeline, can't always be waiting or looking back and saying we got the short end, you will never be satisfied if you do.

Don't care, still love my one. If you waited to get the next top notch phone then you would never get a new one. I'm happy with the all metal flagship device.

This will probably be the answer to the HTC one on Verizon. Aka a droid branded boot loader locked bloatware filled load of garbage. S4 active? Meh.

Oh, look, there's a new phone coming out. It has upgraded specs. This is my surprised face. Quick, let's go make a thread about how much it sucks that my current phone isn't better than this newer phone and/or this newer phone has some feature I wish that my current phone had.
Six months from now, there will be another phone coming out with upgraded specs and this will still be my surprised face.

Nope, because:
1. I've already had my phone for months. There's no guarantee what carrier(s) this is going to and what those carriers will do to it.
2. I love the aluminum build of the One.
3. I'd rather have 32 or 64 GB of onboard storage than an SD card option. Google has been (intentionally) making the SD card less and less useful in Android.
4. Apparently, the Butterfly S doesn't have OIS: https://twitter.com/nerdtalker/status/347453833305284608

The speakers don't look very seamless... looks pretty ugly because of that. Hope that isn't the final model. The back looks plastic too.

Well, isnt the Atrix the sister of Bionic? I heard from VZW that it was delay due to melting issue. Over heat in situation due to the dual core it uses.
Motorola phones are pointless if you care about aosp kernels etc
Also you are supporting the company that wants root community to die...screw them
I like the fascinate, I dont like samsung, the samsung charge looks a lot like the fascinate, with LTE, and front facing camera, I think is better than the thunderbolt, but again, what good is it to have an unencrypted bootloader if the source codes are not released by samsung, see how we have managed with the fascinate, just hunting for leaks, fortunately we have better releases from our devs than from samsung or verizon, and it is very true what Nitsuj17 wrote, we dont want to support a company that wants to control how you use your owned and purchased with your hard earned money phone, screw motorola.
in simple words, I think I am leaning towards samsung charge

Correct and correct. Cyanogen (of all people) has actually picked LG over HTC for his next phone because of this.
I have been with samsung since my first cellphone back in 2004, I will be getting the charge when the price drops.
I think all of them will eventually lock bootloader. Either that or suck.**** on release like samsung. Tbolt looks promising, so is charger.

Same here. I think I'm addicted to the AMOLED screens (cause it sure isn't TouchWiz, using SPB Mobile Shell on the Omnias and LauncherPro on the Fascinate).
The Charge is the new 'big brother' to the Fascinate. The same guts more or less (nothing has changed profoundly), but the 4.3" SuperAMOLED+ Screen vs the 4" SuperAMOLED screen is sexy. Then you sprinkle a little 4G in there and some new cameras, and bam, you have the Charge.

With the OTA 2.2 update tho I'm pretty damn happy with my Fascinate once again. I really think it'd take a screamin' dual core 4G phone to make me really want to jump to a new on.
Yeah I think a dual core would make me more likely to upgrade even sooner.
The charge originally was supposed to be a dual core, but alas it was not to be.
$300 is steep, but if you think about it, its the exact same price as a 32gb iphone.
Think how much better a charge will be than an iphone:
almost 1 inch larger next gen screen.
lte
not stuck on inferior os
etc etc
If you think about it that way, the price seems much more palatable.
I just hope they make the physical buttons better than the DX. Those were flimsy.
That is steep. All of my last four phones were all under 250. Charge has less ram than tbolt. So what warrant the price?

Did I make the right chose?

Went from a rooted HTC 3D running at 1.836 fast as hell and hacked to death; to the HTC Resound? No root; no s-off. I remove apk’s; change my htc_bootanimation/htc_downanimation; keyboard layout; etc…I reboot and presto - my changes have gone into the bit bucket.
I am thinking of switching a different phone. I am a Go Go Gadgets kind of guy; 12 cell phones and 2 tablets in the past 2.5 year. How about I try the Motorola razr droid? Or should I wait? I want it and I want it now LOL.
I understand how u feel cuz I'm like that to but I think with these awesome devs we will get s-off soon. So I think you made the right choice but its your decision not ours.
sent from my sexy HTC Rezound. Bata bum ba bum, Im loving it.
The dev's are great; i owe them many many thanks.
I would keep it, this device has way to much potential. I also love my devices and have to have the newest and latest. Im going back and fourth between this and my tbolt(thanks to simply swapping Sims) my bolt is rooted and all jacked up but does not come close to this stock beast! I don't even think the gnex is gonna be as badass as this device when we get S-OFF. Sure it has ICS out if the box but we will get it too thanks to our Devs and still have the option to run whatever crazy Sense builds they come up with. Hope my opinion helped.

This is my first smartphone so my opinion may not carry as much weight as the others, but I researched for about 8 months to decide what phone to buy knowing that I will probably keep the same one for about 3-4 years. I went from the Incredible to the tbolt, evo3d, sgs2, looked at bionic, glimpsed at razr, it came down to either galaxy nexus or this and picked this one, mostly because of the screen and removable SD card and heard the camera was great. I also liked the way Sense looked.
I am loving it, but like I said, first smartphone so any of the above would have been fantastic. But the screen is amazing! The other phones' screens can't compare.
Removable SD card is a big plus, someone posted they successfully added a 64gb card so that is pretty sweet.
Have you gone to the Razr forums to see how people like it and if there are issues with it? If not, I would do that before you change your mind about this beauty.

HTC One X leaked (video)

http://www.technobuffalo.com/compan...c-sheet-confirms-tegra-3-nfc-and-android-4-0/
holy crap! thats all i have to say lol. i was seriously about to give up on HTC after getting the amaze but after seeing this i think i change my mind.
IMO, this is how the Galaxy nexus should have looked.
"4.7-inch 720p Super LCD2 display" super LCD"2"? i already like my screen more than the super AMOLED, cant imagine how this will look. camera has dual shutter mode, the phone has 32gb of storage, its thin, but good build quality. i think when HTC said they will focus on quality this year rather than quantity they meant it.
it looks like they mixed the sensation XL and mytouch 4g haha. not a bad mix though. if this has the tegra 3 i will probably upgrade, if its another quadcore i will probably not.
Will you guys be upgrading? or do you think our hardware is good as it is?

ill probably upgrade when the price lowers and its all around craigslist. its never good to get a device right when it first releases. learned that with the mytouch 4g.
since it does have the tegra 3 that makes me really interested: better battery life and like 60% more GPU performance = amazazing. i will enjoy my amaze while i can though there isnt anything wrong with it and im happy with it.

you mean s-on right? im sure a lot of people wont care considering it has the latest OS. even though google is probably working on jellybean as of now by the time its released it wouldnt matter im sure.
i hate what HTC is doing with the whole s-on/s-off but that doesnt prevent them from making some of the best devices. and the fact that they are doing the whole "quality rather than quantity" will make a lot of people either stay with them or go back. just because samsung has unlocked their bootloaders doesnt make their devices better either.
i would rather have a device better out of the box then a device that is not. and this looks like a solid phone

I get what you're saying, but what I don't understand is how HTC justifies launching all these high-end devices and not really providing proper support for all of them. The Amaze is my first device from HTC and considering that it's a pretty high-end device, I expected a lot more support from HTC and not having to deal with problems like S-On, light bleed, etc

I guess thats why they are taking the amaze off the tmobile shelves since this is the last phone they made when they used to do quantity or quality. after they ship the ville and this one it will probably be game changes for HTC if they actually support them well and what not. if they do not and go back to their old ways im probably leaving android all together. the only other android company i like is Sony and they still have yet to release their dual core phones with last years hardware. they will be solid devices but they are still behind the game in the android market lol. i will probably wait for BB 10 and see if thats good.

This.
I would love to have a nearly bezel-less phone. I measured with a ruler on my S2, and if the screen is edge to edge like some of the concept pictures, a 4.8 in display will fit on it without increasing the phone's footprint at all. This is what I'm hoping and praying for...
It may just be the announcement for the Galaxy Tab 19. We all need a 19 inch tablet.
Impressive, indeed. Though when I'm available for an upgrade, we'll all be waiting for the GS4 to be announced. Oh well, I just got my GS2 a few months ago and wouldn't want to give it up yet. Besides, the screen size on the GS2 is as big as I'll ever go.

I completely agree. My Captivate was the perfect screen size and I've made due with 4.3 but anything larger is just getting too large. There really does need to be more focus on battery life more than anything. I have many friends that would like to get a smart phone but they think charging the phone every day is too much... and I completely agree.

That is quite a chore, you have to plug it in and set it down. And if that wasn't enough you have to unplug it in the morning. Just terrible.
I am tempted to mod my phone to use a TouchStone, it is really convenient on my TouchPad. I heard the GS III might have inductive charging built in.
I just hope TW 5 or what ever they use is not only themed a lot more like stock ICS, but also portable to the S II.
I am also hoping for a bigger screen with a smaller bezel. Like the ONE X, but with thought out buttons.

The attached picture is the default back buttons. The one in the OP is the Verizon device.

But as of yet, there hasn't been any mention of a special function, correct?
I went into my local vzw corporate store to look at upgrading to the S4. The manager told me that an LG rep came today and told them that the demos will be available in two weeks.
I'm considering waiting for the G2 but can't get over the non removable battery and no SD.... I might take the plunge and get the S4. Either way I'm curious to test this phone out.

My S4 is going back tomorrow once I reset it and box it up. I decided to wait for the G2 arrive and GN3 to be announced at IFA so I can get a better understanding. All I need to know is that Verizon isn't going to screw us and not offer a 32GB, heck I would love a 64GB but we know that WON'T happen on Verizon. I also don't expect it until at least Black Friday :|
I don't know why, but I'm excited for this phone. Anyone have experience with LG devices in the past? Have they ever had much support for cyanogenmod? This thing would be sweet with stock android...I think so at least

You should be excited, this phone looks amazing. I've tried my sister in laws OG optimus and it was garbage but that was many moons ago. The fact that they made the last nexus phone gives me high hopes.

I am looking FWD to this phone and I will probably be upgrading my S3 for this phone. It has better specs than anyother phone out there right now. The only other phone I might consider is the new Note 3, but I don't think it is coming to VZW. I think the only downside to this phone is the no SDCard input which makes me want to get the 32gb one if I buy the LG G2.
So I am on the fence. Get the HTC One in a few days time when Verizon finally releases it or wait just a bit longer for this bad boy?
Since Verizon is getting exclusives I would think they would rush this device to the door unlike how they handled the HTC One.
Anyone have an idea when they might start selling this? In a couple months? Late Sep? October?

I'm sure the N3 will be on Verizon, the N2 sold like wildfire for them and Samsung has more carrier leverage than any other manufacturer besides Apple. No way would Sammy let the biggest U.S. network drop their second-best selling phone series.

Most likely October, they said it would take a month to six weeks to send review units to the news outlets, which usually happens a couple weeks before public release.
As far as this vs. the One, it just depends on what you value more. This has a bigger battery, bigger screen, and more powerful processor. The One has better speakers and design. Also you have to consider that development will be more active on the One. It will most likely be more popular with HTC's upcoming marketing push, plus once it's bootloader is unlocked you'll be able to port all the other ROM's already available for it.
I'm not sure how active the community will be for the One on Verizon. People are saying the device could be locked down to hell and with it already being 4 months old maybe developers will just wait till the next big thing. That being the Note 3 or the G2.

Hopefully the lockdown isn't as bad as the s4 but as far development goes with APN editing you can port any of the ROM's already available.

Release date appears to be Sept 12th for Verizon. Not bad.

Sure hope so.
I'm ready to upgrade from my razr and the G2 is looking like the #1 contender for my next device. The Note 3 also looks great, but might be a little big for my taste. With the G2 packing a Snapdragon 800, Adreno 330 GPU, large battery, great camera, and 32gb of storage I should be happy with it for awhile. Only thing i'm worried about is android os updates. With this being released on all 4 major U.S. carriers and LG's most anticipated device yet I can't imagine it not getting at least the next few android
updates.
The G2 is launching with 4.2.2 out of the box correct?
