Rooted and custom rom >> to stock? - HTC One X+

I managed to unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom about 6 months ago
Think it was andriod revolution hd 6.5
I don't think I backed up the stock ROM?
Could someone explain if its possible to get the phone back to a out of the box state??
Thanks

Download and run the RUU for your device.
p.s. these type of things go in Q&A

Hello,
I've done that yesterday
First you need to flash a stock recovery, then install the ruu corresponding to your device. And you need to relocked the bootloader.
By this way, you will be able to get futur ota update.

How do I find the correct recovery will any stock HTC revcovery do? And the RUU can I find this here?

So tell me...What would I need?

To flash an official OTA update from AT&T would I need...
1) Stock Recovery
2) Re-locked Bootloader
3) Both
4) Something else.
I'm mostly waiting on a custom Sense 5 ROM...but I would like to know.

my experience on international X+ is that you only need stock recovery.
Don't flash an OTA with a custom rom. Even with stock recovery! your just asking for trouble. I'm also pretty sure you need a locked bootloader, to prevent the same security error you'd get trying to flash an RUU on an unlocked bootloader. But tbh i'm just speculating.

[Q] flashed international on att one x +

I got a customer who brought in a htc one x+ and he flashed an international rom on an att rom. I have tried installing an ruu and it did not work. The only thing that it does is reset and load into recovery. it cannot mount any drives. Is there any way to fix this?
Did u relock the bootloader before trying to flash ruu? U need ruu 1.19 older ones might not work or U have to sideload an att rom . From recovery and using a tool like hasoons tool for one x plus. Just google for instructions how to sideload roms.

There's a guide to side loading in post 4 of this thread:

Can we get a guide for rooting?

I haven't used an HTC phone in over a year since the original M7 release. I'm used to Samsungs where all you need to do is open odin and flash a few files and boom you're done. I can unlock the bootloader no problem but I am confused on the steps to get twrp on it. Can I just follow a guide for the M7?
for those who also need help, i found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694564
Just unlock boot loader on htcdev site, flash twrp and when you go into the recovery and exit it'll root for you

Can this be undone with no trace of prior root?

I assume you just unroot and flash stock recovery and relock boot loader

Will we be able to flash Roms from the international M8 just like we could on the M7?

unlocking the bootloader will start a whole new set of problems
the unlock process wipes your phone and deletes files need for the OTA to proceed without error.
did you try just flashing the OTA with stock recovery and see if it worked ?
No I am not asking about bootloader, I was asking whether s off is compulsory ,I am still on locked bootloader and stock recvry

I may be wrong, but if its still stock everything, can you not do a manual update from HTC website

HTC doesn't offer the update, AT&T push's it to your phone.
But if your out of the AT&T coverage area you never get the updates
