[update] NFC firmware & "14.1.B.532" 1mb update?? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Right so I was fiddling with my device, testing mods I made, (which were not successful). So I reverted back to my stock FTF .532, and then restored my TA partition...
Then when I rebooted and got my device back to how I like it, i did a system update check... hoping for the big update
This is what I found:
- to do app updated [check]
- gallery app updated [check]
- system 14.1.B.532 1mb [wtf]
1 megabyte update available. Anyone else get this?
Then once it had installed, and then rebooted to the lock screen, it said:
NFC firmware update, please wait...
So I'm assuming that this was a patch for the NFC, not for the actual OS...but has anyone else got this too???

Nope I have no gotten this 1mb update

Nope Nothing here.

Working Root on 2.3.3 locked bootloaders! :) (Works on all Xperia Plays except R800X)

Ive seen this on the arc section and it works !
Do not try this if you have an unlocked bootloader or if you dont know what your doing! I'm not resposible if you break or brick your phone!
If you're already on a rooted .184/.181 firmware and OTA update is available for you just update your firmware. If not:
- Backup the apps you need (if you have root)
- flash to .184 UK firmware with the flashtool (Do a clean install or else you will have alot of force closes)
- heres the .184 UK firmware and the flash tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
- Use Gingerbreak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 or Superoneclick to root your device
- Update your Play using a OTA(over the air) update(Got to settings->About phone->Software update)
- Restore your apps
- Enjoy your rooted 2.3.3!!!
NOTE !!! : The only thing you should do after you flash and before ota update is to root and nuthin more.
NOTE 2: The Generic UK firmware works worldwide. Doesn't matter what phone you have except for the Verizon model. So if you have an AT&T R800a dev/google conference unit or UK or Rogers or France or any other phone. It will work It will not brick your phone

Hi guys,
So far this methode only works with the .181 global generic firmware(1247-1061) on the Arc.
I think if you flash the global generic .181 firmware for the play this methode should also work for you guys.
good luck!

remember there is lots to search thru BEFORE you go and make sensationalist claims like "giving wrong information" out just a thought tuff guy!!
I can confirm that this is not working for me. I've flashed the UK generic 1.84 a while back. I've removed some bloatware after rooting with gingerbreak.
Today I read this thread and gave it a try. It downloads the update and when I click ok it shuts off and does it's thing with the four dots. When it reboots it goes through the Sony txt and bootup anim and then the lock screen and says it's unable to update?
I've tried it twice. My phone is sim unlocked from purchase. Could it be the removed bloatware or a modified framework that causes it?
Regards Dousan...
e: I did it OTA.
help......
i have a strange problem i was on 2.3.3 unrooted
i tried to downgrade to the uk generic firmware in this post with
flashtool, it flashed ok i restarted phone but
when phone goes to desktop its blank just the darkblue wallpaper with nothing on it
kust the time in the top right taskbar and the signal strenth and the simcard symbol with a red x on it and the battery status bar
and that it.
it wont scroll left/right for more home screens, none of the buttons do anything
apart from power button and volume up/down
when i scroll the notification bar down it just says emergency calls only
and then in the top left its got the numbers 1980 3 8
what the hell is goin on
my fone boots up but i cant use it in any way
Is the OTA update available everywhere? Mines on 2.3.2 but if i try to OTA it says im already on the latest firmware.

Supposedly there is a new update that includes a new launcher (which will function in LandScape properly for the Play), a new video recorder with stereo recording, and an xLoud service which will amp the volume if you are playing something over the built-in speakers. It is rolling out for the Arc and the Play supposedly. http://bit.ly/piNNOr
I certainly don't have it as I'm on Verizon in the US, and we don't get anything till months to years later. (Even then, its crippled and loaded with bloat)
The new one that has xloud (makes the speakers louder). The new xperia launcher that supports themes etc

im kinda hanging out to test this xloud thing, is their any information about on when sony is expecting to make this available on generic firmware? se facebook etc etc. also has their been any indication from sony if a custom camera app(+720p) recording will actually be released, or are we all just hoping for one?
the current changes sound like a step in the right direction most of these have been small niggles with me at some stage.
one unrelated question, i recently did a ta backup of my phone(r800a with uk generic) and the ta says its an r800i..is this correct? i didnt think the ta would be touched by firmware flash.

TA is modified after flash, it's the way it works. If you flash R800i FW, and UK FW is that, then phone will become R800i, and TA will say the same. But this is based on info in build.prop (in SE terms - phone customization file) which is parsed by CDAInfoAccessor and other apks in /system/app and written to TA, so even if you have R800a baseband, it'll still say R800i and SEUS will update your phone with R800i flash files.
thanks, i thought it could be a combination of the above but the way its worded made me think that at least some portion of the ta may have been flashed as well. Can i just go through my build.prop and change everything back to r800a, ive dabbled in the build prop somewhat on my old phone, if thats all thats required it should be fairly simple. unfortunately i didnt do a ta backup of the telstra stock firmware so im **** out of luck there.
We should get the new update next week!

KitKat 14.3.A.0.757 (Quick Review)

Sony PCC downloaded the update overnight. But failed to install it on phone in morning. I got the phone stuck with 'Failed Update...' message on boot. Got me worried.
Looked over google. Downloaded Sony Update Service: http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
Copied all files downloaded by Sony PCC in 'C:\ProgramData\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\db' folder to 'C:\Program files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\'
This made Update Service think that it has downloaded the update already (saved the time and agony to download 1GB update again)
One day KK usage report (My XZU is unrooted, stock ROM and Kernel)
- Better touch response in games. Asphalt 8 runs smoother and faster than 4.3.
- No lags, no memory leaks, no overheat (everything is almost similar to 4.3 or a bit better I would say)
[Free memory on boot ~.93GB and after a few hours of gameplay and browsing is 870MB]
[Battery drain overnight (9 hours in sleep mode) was just 1%]
- System sounds are louder than 4.3 with xLOUD on.
- Immersive Mode: I noticed various apps and games didn't support this. So I installed Immersive Full-Screen Mode (no root required)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.ppareit.immersivemode
This app is just awesome. Now I can play many games in Immersive mode and even apps like Adobe reader can use this feature of KK.
Overall I am very happy with this update. Good job Sony!! :good:

Still 4.4.2. It's a bugfix update.
After using the 757, i think the image quality of the camera is a bit better in lowllight, less artifact, and more detail compared to 681. Might be the first time that i can say i like the superior auto result. And plus with manual setting, the low iso puts it a bit darker compared to previous version, which puts an auto contrast/brightness layer after capturing the image. The next improvement is the wifi seems to be a lot stronger. Used to be 1-2bar on the second floor, but now a 3 bar is not that seldom. Overall I'd say it's an improvement compared to 681

I haven't heard of anyone who flashed full ftf with wipe and had the camera issue.. I'm pretty much certain the bug isn't a bug - it's a result a not wiping data or not flashing ALL files in ftf.. Therefore, op if hasn't had the "bug" in either 681 nor 757 as he/she must have performed a full flash.
Conclusion, bug is procedural only and will still remain in this update if your don't flash the complete ftf with full wipe
(meaning lb users stuck with it I guess )

Thing is, I didn't use flashtool. I used Sony update centre to update my phone. So it was updated through official means. Also, there's no ftf for Singapore .681 so I'm not sure what to flash. Can I just flash any countries ftf on my phone despite being in Singapore as long as its for the same device? Or will there be compatibility issues?

Nope its still 108. But its 4.4.4 instead of 4.4.2 so I dont really know what 133 firmware could bring to the table. The next version of android is already Android L so 133 should technically be Android L which isnt even released yet... Not sure whats happening.
And i think what hes saying is that the newest version of 108 patches against easy root. I think you're using the older 108 firmware, which is still rootable by easy root.
if someone recives the Update .133 can you test this, please:

Nope its still 108. But its 4.4.4 instead of 4.4.2 so I dont really know what 133 firmware could bring to the table. The next version of android is already Android L so 133 should technically be Android L which isnt even released yet... Not sure whats happening.
And i think what hes saying is that the newest version of 108 patches against easy root. I think you're using the older 108 firmware, which is still rootable by easy root.

.133 will not be android L or 5.0 it is likely to be a carrier update like 118 is or just a minor update

That's normal. It just changes from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. I think Sony didn't think it was big enough an update to change the build number.

B140 Update

The update I have is official as well.Only difference is mine was downloaded to my device while the other one you go to the website to download.Zero difference in the two.
Perhaps I should clarify, the one that you posted is the entire ROM while the one I have is a 124 MB OTA.
