Dirty Unicorns (DU) is a custom ROM originally based off AOKP but now OMNI-ROM, brings you a great mix of stability and customization. The idea to start a ROM like this was purely out of boredom but later turned into a form of an addiction, a good one. We began to have fun while still doing things the right way. By doing so, we received high praise from not only our users but by fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. This ROM will always be free of charge without any strings attached or any of it's developers luring you into donating or any form of "pay to flash".
"Give credit and thanks where is due!" That's something that has fuel the way we do things! With that said, we would like to go ahead and credit those individuals and groups that have made this ROM possible with their original code and contributions to the Android community.....
| Omni-ROM | AOKP | ChaOS | Paranoidandroid | SlimROMs | Preludedrew | Official Testers / Translators | Team Blackout
Believe it or not, we are human and we do forget things. If we have left someone out of the credit/thanks list, just PM us and we'll gladly add on to the list.

A quick heads up:
.......
3. Camera works fine, video does not yet record
4. This is very much a work in progress
5. None of this would be possible for our aging device without the hard work of one Mr. @ktempleton
and all of Team Dirt as well!!

It's great to keep seeing new development on this device! Thanks for your great work Patch! I'm looking forward to flashing this.

The video patch didn't work for me. I think the patches are for cm based and this is mostly omni based at this point. Reboots, I haven't had any. But it's not my daily phone either....let me know what you guys find, thanks.

after 2 days of use :
:crying: 1- video patch not working (no video recording)
2- no reboot until now
3- phone buttons always on (lighted).

Yeah, the "torch" application isn't there, and the lock screen shortcuts for it don't work. You can install a 3rd.party and works fine though.
ROM isn't suffering from reboots on my phone. It is running freaking awesome . I'd suggest flashing rom and let it settle for ~15 min, then reboot and flash gapps if you run into any problems at first.

I'm glad it's up and running for you guys taking over the world one device at a time lol great job

Keep in mind you can install Xposed Gravitybox (KK), there's an option in there to disable cap lights completely. Of course I haven't tried the latest build which should fix this issue without xposed... Still no reboots for me, running like a top

VoIP
A bit of a random question but i've read that VoIP has not worked or not worked right since mid dec on all KK rom's. That being said i was wondering if it is known as a CM problem or a actual KK problem. Reason i'm asking is cause of this being mostly Omni based would that possibly make a difference.
I will try to download and flash tonight and post back on VoIP testing, and anything else i can try to dig up between now and then.
Thank you patch for all the work you put into building Roms for the Note !

thank's.

Voip?? Try Google Voice!
Well if this ROM downloads Google voice and voice+ it will work just, activate Google voice and voice+ and you can call and receive and send texts with your google voice number if it doesn't have voice+, just download voice, GV integration and busy box apps and you will have voip with your google voice number! Works for me with any phone or rom Ive tried it on!!

hey patch so I just flashed n installed the newest update and the 4 keys are lighted and won't turn off (waaaaa!!!!) I installed fresh even did superwipe xt before I flashed rom....I installed ud_quincyatt_20140225-2110.zip unless that's the wrong one lol but I click on latest and that's what it gives me....is there a way to turn them off from Dirty Tweaks Menu? one thing is i'm loving the Dirty Tweaks Menu it's got a lot of things gravity box has....if it doesn't have that option then i'll just install GB and turn them off....thanks for the rom patch....a new rom to test and report!!

It may be aging but......
I concur Thank-you for all the excellent work but aging or not this phone still beats 99% of any new or old smartphone on the market today! So it is well worth maintaining!

Well that's really weird but as we all know.....every phone reacts a little differently to different roms.....and no, no option in dirty tweaks......I guess you'll have to use gravity box. You could also re download and wipe really clean and re flash....hope it pans out though!

Q&A
Q: Your pictures are deceiving! My pie controls don't look like that!
A: Navigate to System Settings>System>Power menu and select your expanded desktop option. Then hold power button and turn on expanded desktop. Voilà! Now stop complaining.
Q: How do I remove this wretched nav bar?!
A: Navigate to System Settings>Hybrid Properties>Interface and set Nav bar to 0%.
Q: These PIE controls are intrusive, how do I turn it off? A: Navigate to System Settings>Toolbars>Trigger area and set to none.
Q: My gps icon won't go away.
A: More than likely Facebook. You can get rid of it by opening maps and getting a lock, then back out or reboot.
Q: I'm getting status 7 error when flashing.
A: You need to use either CWM Recovery or the newest TWRP to flash.
Q: Can I still use the S Pen?
A: You can but it will not have any of the same functions from a TW rom. IE... Hover select, screen shot editor, double tap quick note....
Q: Where is multi-window?
A: Still on the TW rom you left to enjoy some AOSP love. AOSP is as clean as it can get and won't include any of the motion features nor the multi-window.
Seems an interesting combination.
Gonna try it out

OK, here is the deal. If you flash an AOSP BASED ROM, you will lose S-Pen functionality. It basically becomes a stylus. This has been asked in EVERY single thread. You can download alternative apps for S-Pen type apps. So, take your pick- an AOSP ROM w/o S-Pen functions or a TW based ROM with S-Pen crap.

Most of you folks don't know me because I just recently moved from sprint. So ill just give you a quick run down as to how I like my threads. Fun, laid back and free of drama. There will be lots of dumb questions and I'll try to add to the op as they get asked. In the meantime, refrain from bashing each other and muddling up my thread. If you wanna publicly attack each other, take it to slick_ricks thread. Ok, just kidding about that but really, show me a little respect and keep it clean, that's all I ask. If you don't like someone's question, ignore it and either I or someone with patience will answer them. Thank you everyone.

Dirty Unicorns is a custom ROM built with stability in mind and optional customization. The idea to start this ROM began out of pure boredom around 4.1.2 on the EVO 3D and later turned into a form of an addiction (a good one) to see where we could go from there. We have since expanded to more devices to include the HTC One, Nexus 5, SGS4 and many more. We quickly realize that users loved what we were doing as well as other developers because it was done the right way. We've always had fun doing it and take pride in knowing that we've done it without having to bug the end user for donations to pay for server costs and/or any of those sob stories you hear. This ROM is 100 percent free and will remain that way.
Those wanting to use our ROM as a base are more the welcomed to do so but please maintained the credits/thanks below, do not ask for donations as it wouldn't be fair to do so considering and let us know as we often like to contribute to other projects.
As stated above, we love to maintain authorship but we also like to publicly praise those that have helped us along the way with our wonderful project. With that said, this wouldn't be possible without the work and help of those listed below THANK YOU ALL!!
| OmniROM | AOKP | CM | ChaOS | Paranoid Android | Slim ROMs | Preludedrew | Team Black Out | Official Testers / Translators |
Please check our gerrit/github for full credits/thanks of individual contributorsBelieve it or not, we are human and we do forget things. If we have left someone out of the credit/thanks list, just PM us and we'll gladly add on to the list.

Why would I post it in the AT&T section if it was for the international?
That's a good question but there are other international roms in the section as well. Didn't want to ruin my phone with the wrong rom. Just a question but whatever.

international builds
There are a couple of international builds in the AT&T section, tried almost all of them and all work fine...as a matter of fact, I've read a few people who have been installing Rome from the international section and everything working..I've believe the 4g just isn't as strong for some reason. The big no no, is not to install a cdma version on a gsm phone and vice versa, I.e. can't put a Sprint Rom on a AT&T or Verizon phone..

You're not going to mess up your phone by flashing a international ROM or even a T-Mobile ROM because they're all GSM.........worse case, your data isn't fully working and you could always go back into recovery and revert back to Sense or whatever ROM you were on previously
How is this rom holding up for everyone?
Woot. Was itching to flash something and not go back to 4.1.2 This looks pretty nice
Ok so I tried this Rom and I really like it but I can't get with the lag that all M7 aosp roms have right now. And thats not the developers fault at all btw. it's a none problem with the aosp roms for m7. But keep up the good work

I've gotta say, I downloaded the rom last night, and have yet to flash it because the gapps have just been impossible to download! The link from goo was so unbearably slow and kept failing halfway through, now I'm on one from Rapidshare and it's downloading at 80 kbps. For a 30 Mbps connection this is pretty frustrating LOL!
Has anyone had good luck with the camera thus far?

What lag are you talking about?? No offense but it could be something in your head because I've flashed CM, AOKP and PA along with my own ROM obviously and I've yet to see any lag compare to Sense ROMs.....I could be wrong but that's why I asked

It's a port from the Note II actually, although it is heavily using our libs. It is based on SlimRom, which itself is very lightweight and fast, add that to dvhexers's kernel improvements and it's quite nice. I will attempt to build this from source in the near future, smooth out the last few bugs and get a bit more performance out of it.
The porting process I used was sheer and utter frustration and perseverance. Initially I was trying to port the 4.2.2 version. Because the mako base was easier to me in my head, but I lost patience and changed too many things at a time and lost my stability and fixes I was making.
I based it loosely on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713
but I warn you, it's like he revised his post but didn't change everything to reflect that, and I couldn't find a 4.3 specific guide either. As far as porting from another device, the Note II was an exynos processor and a mali gpu, the sheer amount of time combing through libs and bins weeding them out was just intuition, and comparing against ours.
I used apktool 1.5.2 to split the apk apart, but it cannot repack the files, most likely need a new version for API 18 (4.3)
But, you CAN split two apk's apart, and replace the encrypted resource/xml/etc with one from a working apk, and zip it back up.
As far as unpacking the .img files, I used android image kitchen 1.5, 32bit. Mainly to be able to compare all the init.rc's and any additional .sh files, especially when coming from another device manufacturer. Search, read, try, and try again. Good Luck
Looks sweet. Can't wait to try it. Big thanks for bringing this to our OG's. I've said it once already tonight and I'll say it again, loving the support u guys are bringing to our beloved device. Thanks again.

Yes same here, I missed checking it while testing. I'll be sure to include a non retarded stock camera in the next build, which may be later today. In the interim you could always restore a known good camera with Titanium backup and see if that works. Thanks for the report though, I wasn't sure if it was just screwy on mine

I'm not 100% but from what I can find, e977 is like e975 international, so you need the geehrc kernel, houstonn has posted one that you can use with our 4.3 ROMs in this thread, he says camera will work with that.
http://downloads.codefi.re/houstonn/test
kernel-geehrc-houstonn-4.3-JSS-0901.zip
that's the newest GEEHRC kernel, make a backup of your EFS partitions if not already, and try it out.
one tool here from e975 forum, is a play store APK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2324510
or, I used this one from CWM recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161611
Good Luck. Let me know if this works for you.,
<edit> E975 LG Optimus G forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1838
many E977 say E975 roms work, but if you use E970 roms here I think you must use houstonn's kernel.
</edit>
When doing a backup with TWRP, I think that includes EFS.
@[r.]GimP mind telling why you wanted to port a Exynos based ROM that is based on Slim? What's the advantage to using this vs slim? Or was this just a challenge to see if you could do it? Thanks for your effort though, more choices to those who want it.

I've never switched from CWM, and yes I think you're correct. Most updater-scripts that aren't written retarded include EFS backup also.

Yes it does. Lost my GPS last night (for the first time ever) when flashing PACman. Restored EFS from my TWRP Nandroid of BeanStalk to fix it.
When can we expect a little stable build? I tried this.. Way too many problems.. None of my graphics intensive games run.. I was trying few things with talk back feature.. It continuously FCed and made the phone non usable.. Even after reboot. So to put it straight.. Its mostly unstable to use in my humble opinion!.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but as you appear to be relatively new here (based on post count, maybe you've been lurking long for all I know), but a couple points of courtesy that will get you farther as you stay here:
a) Please don't ask for ETAs. For anything. Ever.
b) If you are reporting errors, please include what you have done to reproduce them, and get and post logcats.
This is a development forum. If you require stability above all else and are unwilling or unable to provide data to help the devs fix issues, you should probably flash a stock ROM and move on.
MANY, if not most, of the ROMs posted here are stable enough for most people to run as a daily driver. However, there are ALWAYS going to be some glitches somewhere. Depending on your usage of the device, they may make certain ROMs not work for you as a daily. The devs all have other stuff going on in their lives and give us, as users, their time and expertise for free. Please pay them back with courtesy and assistance, rather than non-constructive desparaging comments.
If you want something stable then use Slim that this is based on.
Plus expect issues since this was just ported recently and only a week old. If you read what he said, he ported this from an Exynos device. Going to be a Iot work I imagine. Just post a reply if what is not working, how to repeat that issue. Maybe post a logcat.

Sorry If I came across as Rude, I never meant to.. I guess its rather the way I communicated, I will do all I can to Support the DEVS work for this community, we dont have many out there doing their bit to get us all the best ROMS out there but if there is one, we need to standby and support them in whatever way we can. I was trying to be informative and thought many would have faced the problems I faced and saw an opportunity to post one since nobody had it reported. Please accept my sincere apologies if I have hurt anybody in anyway here..
1) Graphic intensive games like Temple run 2 and Subway Surfer, refuse to load into the game.. it gets stuck at the initial screen and becomes non responsive, I had the DPI set to 240. I dont know whether that plays any part here. Has anybody tried running these games?
2) Secondly I tried enabling Talk back feature as I was randomly testing the settings tab, it gave me a non stop FC and disabled touch control. It was hard to reset that back. I tried rebooting but that didn't help either.
The above are the only flaws I could find other than that it was smooth as hell.. and I love the different take at the window animation and the overall look of this ROM.. I am so glad to see such ROMS coming into this community and appreciate every bit DEVs are doing to get this community growing.
Please let me know how else I can help. I will do all I can to help resolve the problems I faced. Thanks for a patient reading and Sorry again if I had upset anybody in anyway!

05-21-2014 - More under the hood changes. Still sweet as heck!
05-14-2014 - Stability fixes implemented and fresh pull from Vanir code base. I tested this before releasing this time around. I wanted to make sure that the lockscreen, and systemui are stable.
05-10-2014 - More updates to the Vanir code base. We're still good with Vanir!
05-05-2014 - Some updates to the Vanir code base. Spec Ops build REALLY going to come in the evening today.

Good Job!
I'll be giving this one a try and that last picture is awesome.

I'm in the process of doing this right now.
If you wish to hear irony, Rezound gets Vanir and the g2 version doesn't even boot. Imagine that. Should tell alll of you something about your hardware base and device maintainers. Good job guys!

BAM! CAMERA!
I am tossing around the idea of going a "Vanir - Airborne Edition."
Would have included LMT Pie launcher, Apollo Music Player, and CM File Explorer.
Please let me know what you would want in a 'delux edition!' please!
I'll help you push that to their base see if I can get you official again.

good job!
actived notificition is my best choice lol, big thanks!
Ooh Vanir! Do want!
Beanstalk holds a special place in my heart.
Got it installed and running fine. I have one minor issue. I use the 500firepaper app, for some reason the app can't launch the wallpaper changer nor can I select the app in the wallpaper settings, it shows up as a wallpaper but tells me it's not installed. Anything different with the wallpaper settings on this rom?
Vanir is built from the ground up with performance in mind. I suggest just putting a picture on the SD card or setting one of the included Vanir wallpapers.

Or try installing a theme. Vanir for some reason doesn't like 500 firepaper

Probably an SE Policy issue. See if you can get a logcat around the time when applying the wallpaper.
Nice ROM. So far noticed unable to change notification sound. And it loops until answered. And says unable to save edited photos when trying to save as contact.

I remember vanir being really fast on my nexus 7 2012. This ROM is perfect since it might make my phone a bit more tolerable to use . Will flash in a bit.

Don't have those issues here. Only thing I've found is that haptic on keyboard misses keystrokes
Edit: Switching keyboards fixes

Gapps inckuded or Why is it 420 Mb ?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I can't even download it. Just requests me to download an application from the play store. Kinda interested in this but not too sure...
Edit... Also if this ROM is only 400 mb then why did you cross out the step to install gapps? This is rather confusing
Mega app can't open folders. Need the direct link

Really liking it so far.
Couple of bugs here and there:
• if you enable keyboard open/close animations it seems a bit temperamental trying to get it to come up when you have it in horizontal mode.
• I noticed the default animation speed for list view is 0*15, at default you basically can't see it (18*15 feels about right)
• while multitasking I found the sound to skip a few times here and there as if the CPU is being held up somehow.
• pocket mode for lockscreen notifications also seems to be a bit temperamental but have done a reboot or two since then and seeing how it goes from then.
Loving the ROM so far, it's very smooth and has a nice array of features. Finding my phone is getting a little hot though and noticed in Trickster that thermal throttling is disabled...is it being handled by the kernel in another way?
OK.... While typing there... Another big sound hang :S

I think other devices are getting 1.3.2 so maybe we'll see that update here too soon.
Wow.... Impressive... I was skeptical at first but this rom is very responsive and has several mods to it. Thank you for this. I'm running PA gapps and ART
OK I think it's a CM11 bug but the sound/video freezes probably once every 30secs while watching YouTube. Less bad if listening to music or something but it still happens randomly nevertheless.

Thanks mate. Please update fix in OP too...
Nice timing as I was thinking of replacing phone app with Slim or AOSP ROMs.
BTW nice ROM so far been using it from last 24 hours. Let's see how battery life like as didn't had much from other AOSP ROMs...
VERY nice rom! Love all the extra features!
Only other bug i noticed other than the call log is that, when on the phone and you put it up to your ear, the screen goes black like normal but you can still press all the buttons with your face.

this is a "every aosp rom" bug..i have it with cyanogenmod, omni, and all other aosp rom
The only Issue I had that's stopping me from using this daily is that I can't get exchange mail to work. Keeps giving me a error and says check details but they are all right.
