Most recent ROM with working HDMI? - Motorola Droid RAZR

This may be borderline the wrong place to post this, but it does concern custom ROM's, so technically it would be considered development I do believe. If not I'm truly sorry and move it to the correct section please. Anyway, my question is just like the title states. I've dug around a lot and haven't really found the answer. I promise I wasn't lazy and just made a new thread without researching . I want to know if anyone knows of anything like a CM10, CM11, any CM based ROM, or basically anything other than the 4.1.2 stock based ROM's with working HDMI. It is a must for me. You can go to the CM site and others, but it doesn't really say anything about it, being that most ROM's aren't all out device specific anymore, and many devices do not offer HDMI because of hardware anyway. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

NO WAY !This is only available on stock ROMs because the related stuffs are close-sourced.

hes absolutely right. roms that are "Stock based", Jellybean 4.1.2 will possibly have the hdmi functionality. Artmod is one

Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what I've come to learn. I decided to give up and I'm in the process of cooking up my own ROM. It will have every feature that I use and a lot of other goodies baked in.

I've run this ROM and it's okay. I've pretty much run everything imaginable on six different devices. I was just hoping that someone knew of something like a pure AOSP based or Cyanogen based ROM with working HDMI. I've looked everywhere and tried to add it to ROM's and it just won't work. It has something to do with the stock 4.1.2 firmware and the drivers. So we'll probably never see that function in anything like a 4.4+ ROM unless we get an official update (WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN) I decided to give up and I'll just swap to stock in Safestrap when I need HDMI capability. Right now I'm in the process of cooking up a nice little custom 4.4.2 pure AOSP based ROM. It will feature NOVA Launcher and the most dynamic launcher made (it's a secret) as home options. I'm mainly focusing on smoothness, responsiveness, and battery life.

OOOH MY MY Lol! I'm very intrigued on this. I will definitely load the kernel up on a 4.4 build and see how it works out. If it works I will either put it in my build or link it to my OP when I post my ROM. Regardless lucize and dtrail1 will have full recognition and credit for the kernel and working HDMI. Man, if this works my RAZR will be a beast. I got really lucky and scored a MAXX on ebay for $51 with only the screen broken. It took a total of about 20 minutes to convert mine to the MAXX last night. As far as I can tell I'm saving around 11 to 13 percent more battery per hour with fairly heavy use. I have a couple of questions. Do you guys like the Xperia's Album (photo gallery) and Walkman music player with ACID Audio? All features work in the builds I have. And which gapps do you prefer? I'm trying to figure out which ones to recommend. I pretty much always go with Slim. Okay enough rambling. It's time to test.

Alright, I will definitely give thanks to all where thanks is due. If this works out then our little RAZR's will at least be able to contend with any device when it comes to performance and the all out coolness factor. Fully functioning HDMI is pretty much all it was missing

Indeed, HDMI is something that even the newest flagships don't have..
As for Xperia Album and Walkman, not a big fan of Albums, but Walkman, Hell Yeah.!!! I've been trying to make it work for Razr since the day I bought it. Would love it on the device.

The problem with making it work on the RAZR is the drivers. Even if you get a hold of a flashable Walkman .zip, most of the time it will not work correctly, no matter which version you get. It will usually also break any other music player you have installed. When you play a song you only get a split second of sound. The song will continue to play but with no sound. But never fear, it functions 100% in my build. Everyone can thank Nx Biotic for telling me where to look for the fix to this issue. Unfortunately I'm delayed on finishing the ROM for a short time. My little girl decided my screen and LCD looks better completely shattered Lol. At least I have the trusty "absolutely sucks compared to the RAZR" Droid Charge. It does have HDMI though. Parts are on the way for the RAZR and I will continue testing shortly. Keep an eye out.

So, did anyone get HDMI working with a custom ROM? AFAIK only the "official" ROM's work, but as they are so old, not so much fun. Shame we can't get the best of both worlds. Anyone know someone from Moto who can find the source code for this "secret" HDMI stuff, or has anyone the knowledge to decompile it from an official ROM?

MIUI for CDMA HTC Rezound version

Not on CDMA...It's still mainly GSM.
I would have already ported MIUI 4 but my computer's acting all kinds of crazy with GRUB. It's really not that hard to do since we have working AOSP (well, for the most part.) so it would be full fledged MIUI 4 with the typical aosp bugs we have right now.

Which MIUI build would you port? I'm thinking that one from an HTC One device would work, but I'm not too sure since there's no CMDA version.
there is a workaround.. check this site out.. http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/08/sms-using-email/ they will receive a text or mms (Not in their email) even though you sent it through an email.
to send an MMS, you'd type "[email protected]" (Without quotes)
I believe we're waiting on the ICS kernel source for siul's MIUI build.

That's the thing, MIUI 4 is a lot more...flexible than the older versions. It's just porting over and swapping libs and other things. Edit: Of course, I forgot I might need to resize things unless I find the right base to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499411 If anyone wants to take a shot at it. I have to download another Ubuntu image and I'm on slow internet right now. I'll try to get it at least ported over tonight and post DLs tomorrow. Only thing I'm not familiar with is setting permissions on updater-script.

Since we have the RIL for AOSP cracked we don't need source to have a "working" build. We'll have the typical bugs but I'm debating on if I want to use the newest work they have and have a strict warning in the OP saying "S-ON ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" so nobody bricks. Just depends lol

Not necessarily. For right now it "sucks" because of bugs. Chad and John have done an amazing job so far and I'd love to get a fully working CDMA MIUI

[Q] The best of the best? As of today that is...

Hi there!
So I've been searching for the newest and rom that works 100% (as of today) for my Motorola Droid Razr. I know CM has come out with some good roms, but I can't keep track of all the different roms that are out there. More specifically, I want a rom that works 100%, no bugs, no nothing (for the most part that is)... To my understanding the ICS and JB roms have some problems... maybe I'm wrong though? I've read I may have to downgrade to Gingerbread in order to get a rom that works 100%, BUT again, I want to ensure I'm not missing something. Can someone direct me?
Yes, I've searched this forum, other forums, blogs, news sites, etc... BUT I want to ensure I get the newest and best working rom (not the NEWEST JB rom - unless that works 100% - but the newest rom that is best working).
Thanks so much!

I love Eclipse ICS; it is my daily driver for the foreseeable future. Absolutely amazing and stable, with all features working:
Link to the original page for CDMA devices (there is a port available for GSM too. Let me know if you need a link for it.): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795493

Awesome! Thanks so much. I'll check it out. Is Eclipse what most people are using?
Yeah, I wanted to get Cyanogenmod, but I've heard that the new updates are kinda buggy (no camera, etc...)
Yeah, Eclipse is probably the most popular ROM for RAZR. The Gingerbread build DEFINITELY was.
Also, apparently the camera and everything works on CM9 as long as you download the right version. I haven't had any experience with it though so I couldn't help if you chose it.

Cool. Thanks for the info!
I think I'll go with CM9... I've been looking at the AOKP as well... sounds pretty nice - have you ever tried it? I'll try them out and see what I like the best.
Thanks so much,
Waldoctg
Oh, and I've tried to find CM9 and AOKP for the Droid Razr, but to no avail... Well sorta.
I was going to post a link, but XDA Developers won't allow me to because I don't have 10 posts yet...
I found one that says CM9/AOKP (leak rom), BUT I don't understand what they mean when they say I "leak rom"... I think it means that ICS hadn't been released yet when they released this rom? I don't know... And although the site is rootzwiki.com, I am hesitant in loading it onto my Razr because it doesn't actually say it's for the Razr, AND I can't find CM9 for the Razr anywhere else. I feel like these are for the .181 while I'm running .211...
I can't find anything for AOKP that doesn't seem like it's too old to try. It just seems as if everything is outdated... I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places? I don't want to mess up my phone by installing a ROM that is too old.

CM10
I'm on CM10 now as stated in the earlier post. It's super smooth but I don't think it's ready for daily use.
Will look into eclipse though.
Boohoo, Eclipse is only for CDMA. Mine's a GSM.
Just remember, you are currently on ICS. You can't leave ICS.
It is a one-way street and there is no way to flash gingerbread without having some major problems.
I use Eclipse and I would highly recommend it.
Have a look here http://www.droidrzr.com/
there are a few more roms here that i havent seen elsewhere

Currently running CM9 now; there are some bugs for sure but all main features work.

[Q] Vanilla ICS CMDA Roms?

I'm new to the Motorola Droid RAZR & I'm having a hard time finding ROMS for them. It seems that the development is really scattered and not very organized.
I want a plain vanilla CMDA ICS ROM. Where can I get one? I've got "Eclipse" on my phone right now & i'm not digging the blacked out theme.
Help please.
Thats cuz a large majority of Razr ROMS arent even on this site....
You can find them here
Awesome Thanks so much for the help! I was unsure of where to even go. I assumed that XDA was the best resource to go to. Thank you!
Thats a pretty sweet list, I dont know if you are a fan of Cyanogenmod but that is what I am currently running on my MAXX (I noticed it wasn't on there list, prolly cause its still a beta) but anywho, its still a beta and almost perfect (issues are no forward facing video camera, camera flash issues, screen rotation animation not working) but I would recommend checking it out Cyanogenmod roms are the best imo!

[[QnA] Yank555.lu Kernels [Official][Troubleshooting][Sharing][OneStop JB/AOSP]

Hi guys..
Introduction to this thread and why we actually needed it.
Since we have a great dev working for us non stop on kernels I actually noticed that it was difficult for yank himself to run across both the thread.
I felt that we can have a common thread for QnA’s & troubleshooting and of course describing the aroma settings and all other features of our Yank555.lu kernels ?
So this is how it goes here are the links to
Yank’s respective threads :
Yanks JB Samsung Awesomeness here
Yanks Cm/AOSP/AOKP Awesomness
The Aroma Settings are explained:
A.S.E. for Samsung ROMsA.S.E. for AOSP, CM, AOKP ROMs
The changelogs to respective kernels :
Changelogs for Samsung ROMs
Changelogs for AOSP, CM, AOKP ROMs
PS-I have taken permission from Yank555.lu and he knows wat i am doing
Directions
What to do & How to do it ... And what kind of help is to be expected here.
This is how we would like you to report your problem
Please indicate :
1---the Rom you are using
2---the configuration you have chosen in aroma
3---simplest and as to the point explanation possible of the problem you are facing !
And now comes the point of sharing !
Since we all will be using kernels with different settings and most of us will be satisfied some would not be some would be unsatisfied to a very large extent (I wish no one feels this way )
So share with us :
1---the settings that u have done or chosen in aroma
2---your results (free ram, battery life, etc.)
But yes please keep in mind we wont believe anything until we have seen it, so Screenshots should be added whenever possible !!!

In fact, he actually decided to move them to a place better controlled than xda (really no trolling allowed).
My threads now are in my very own forum

i see, thanks for adding me. one can hardly find your forum actually, i only managed to find it through this german forum http://www.android-hilfe.de/kernel-...7-yank555-jb-sammy-3-4-cm10-cm10-1-1-6-a.html over google (i was searching for "aosp yank555 i9305").
just wanted to ask a few more things as i didnt seem to find it in the features/changelog: will you be supporting abb, like its in the perseus kernel, as well as the rgb calibration? thanks for your work

Nope and nope, because :
UV / ABB
I am convinced that UV brings close to nothing in battery life (for having tested this deeply on my Sensation and no difference measurable at -100mV which is quite more than many devices can take), hence I don't have it in my kernels and do not plan to add it as all it really will bring is people complaining about the kernel being unstable because they just overdid themselves with too much UV.
As for ABB, all I really believe this is good for is to allow for slightly more stability at high OC, that's nothing that I have in my kernels (1.6GHz is max) and I do not plan to go any higher anyway. Also, same applies for ABB, people don't really understand what it is and how it works, and ramdomly will play with it and then complain about the kernel being unstable.
So for my time's sake, I really don't need a thread filled with such posts, and since the threads are in my forum, I don't care either to have my thread look popular by that many kinds of posts either (just being sarcastic here)
Also, my highest goal is stability, and with decend battery, and I can't say my phone is unstable in any way, and I intend to keep it this way, and battery is pretty fine as well, and it's pretty snappy as well, so in fact I'm pretty happy with it as it is for now.
mdnie
I have no need for it, and I do not intend to include it. mdnie scenarios available in ROMs are good enough for me, AMOLED screens are anyway not good enough colorwise to be really well calibrated and I do not intend to do any kind of desktop publishing on my S3 either.
The good thing is, though, there are a few kernels to choose from the offer both by now

Thanks for the extensive explanation, ill try your kernel out and see what it brings. About other kernels that support it, its so that im a bit limited by it as i have an i9305 and not an i9300 (had one before, but came to changing it for the i9305), so there are practically no non-cm/replacement kernels for aosp roms (apart from yours) and what it takes for samsung based roms, all of those custom ones for the i9305 are still "bloated" (thers none like anonorom for the i9300), so i prefer not to use them =/
again, thanks for your time and work.

Just in case some don't know where to look, new kernel drops today in my forum (registration required), the various versions (MIUI, CM10.1, Sammy) will be available as I finish them.

This is a minimalist ui for sure. I'll try it out for a bit and get back.
Edit: Good job. AOSP keyboard needs gesture fixed (this is common).

the menu structure does take some getting used to.
other than that, so far so good.
good job.
I have to say something because im afraid this post will be overlooked. This is without a doubt the best ROM ported/developed for the i717. Believe me I've tried them all. I am coming from my heavily modded liquid smooth kk, to a plain vanilla install of this, and the difference is like night and day. The OP has really outdone himself with choosing this ROM for the i717. I haven't seen performance like this from a vanilla install since cm9 or blackstar x. Perfect up-to-date daily driver for anyone, system ui FC's every once in awhile nothing really aggrevating, and the ROM itself is just great. Notifications only take the space they need to display just like in lp. The launcher has no app drawer, easily fixable for someone who prefers one. Kudos to the OP
