We are now S-OFF!! - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Firewater S-Off released for our ATT device in Original Develoment http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708464 I had nothing to do with development, just sharing the link!
Took 2 minutes and S-Off!!! Make sure to read instructions fully!!

Niceee! Thanks for the heads up!

Can't wait to get mine tomorrow! Has anyone set up usb permission in Linux for the m8 yet? Would be nice to have the output of lsusb so I could have permissions already set up.

Had my phone 3 days and already S-Off!
Firewater was super easy.

That was fast...wow!

nice! working here on mine!
literally took 2 minutes

S-OFF here
wow now all I need is to remove TAMPERED message and im GOLDEN!

Worked great for me. I'm rooted, but still using the stock ROM. My biggest challenge was getting adb working with Windows 8.1. The Team Nocturnal drivers finally did the trick.

Relock without fastboot

M moms rezound broke. Well just the charging port so I cant hook up to PC to use fast boot and do that writesecureflag3 command. I don't want to send this thing back s-off.
Is there a way to brick it? With a ph98img.zip file?

Just send it the people who receive them don't give a ****. They just load the correct software on it and go to the next phone...I and many other people have done this a bazillion times. In fact I've never returned a phone that wasn't rooted AND running a custom rom.

i have to do the same thing^ so two hacked rezounds are on there way in hahahah your in good company
So no one had an issue returning a Rezound that was unlocked through HTC's website but then relocked before returning? They don't check to see if it says re-locked?

In fact, some people have received devices that passed the "100 point inspection" that still had CWM or CyanogenMod still on them
I returned an incredible that still had cwm on it and a rezound that said relocked on it with no problem at all, I wouldn't doubt that they make that statement just to scare you into not doing it.

You can always do it wirelessly:

Unrooting TBolt MODERATOR PLEASE DELETE

Does anyone have the full PG06iMG full filewith rom so I can unroot for the cry baby who bought it for me, I can't seem to find it.
What I need is PG06Img.zip with the rom.
Check the all in one thunderbolt tool. If it isn't there check the mecha center website that jimmyco made.

But PG05IMG.zips are so large I just keep the release firmware RUU. Run that bad boy on a PC (Windows) and you're more stock than BestBuy right before Black Friday.

HTC and S-OFF Petition

Just thought I'd post the link here since i own the One X and Evo 3D.
Follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657241
Signed. God what they do is annoying. Time to modify my signature.
EDIT: Dear lord, that is a ton of signatures. How many do you have total?
Looks like there are over 200. Hopefully HTC Listen for once! My E3D is S-OFF and my One X is rooted but its difficult to turn S-OFF. I have to manually flash boot.img which is annoying. Back on stock awaiting the Jellybean OTA
signed it
I think my Evo3D will be the last HTC phone i buy for a long time. To many annoying things (S-On security, bad support, build in batteries, no SD slot). If HTC goes on this way they will loose their last custumers.

Rooting with windows 8 comp=catastrophic

Uhm....
This has to be the most agrivating phone to root in my years of rooting..
Windows 8 will not reconize htc drivers! Unsupported on this operating system it says..
Grrrrrrr i hate windows 8 and how incompatible it is with everything..
Cant root... Hmmmm... Giving this phone up for the iphone 5, im done!
Not only that the process this takes to root is very complex! Grrrrrrr....

I had no problems rooting with win 8. Good luck with the crapple 5

Rooted in 15 minutes on my windows 8. I installed HTC sync, uninstalled HTC sync, fired up adb, saw the device right away. (After enabling debug mode on my phone).

adb says it's out of date and "killing...". But still proceeds forward. Is that normal for Windows 8. I downloaded all the necessary files and they're all up to date, as far as I know.
So instal htc sync? Why isnt that in the instructions for rooting? Im trying to root it still... Fail...
Already have it installed and its not finding the dna..
Ugh.. Is there a dumbed down version of this rooting method?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I rooted on windows 8 with minimal trouble, on an Archos 9 with I think a single core 1ghz cpu, and 1 gig of DDR ram. I also rooted my transformer prime using the same tablet. Albeit using the paid pro version, I would not try it on the free previews.
Good luck with the iPhone 5 if you choose to walk away from the fastest phone since sliced bread. $h!+ is junk! Lol its exactly the same as iPhone4s without the cool new shape only slightly bigger and a tad faster. But same restricted, lame a$$, never changing, way too out of date to be relivant IOS.

If you read .... This is what you need to do install HTC sync only for the drivers .. before you try anything with your DNA delete HTC sync , but font touch the drivers ... This phone isn't that hard if people would learn to read the entire directions before starting .... :banghead: Maybe you needing a dumbed down method is telling you something huh ... Not to be rude but these REAL phones are maybe too complicated . Please don't root your phone, because all your going to do is screw it up and take it back on someone else's dime . Get your ibore 5 ... And hey bud , are you rooting or unlocking the bootloader? Because one has to be done before the other ...

Unlocking the bootloaders you stuck up xda tards.. And i was reading, so don't judge. Just ran into the driver issue it states "when you connect your phone into your computer and you have usb debugging on, the drivers should automatically instal"
Well they didnt, so im having issues with adb recognizing the dna.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
the process on a win8 machine can be taxing, if you let it.
downloading adb setup didn't work for me either.
if you plug your phone in to pc, it will install drivers and sync. (you might need to change usb port if not cooperating)
I also had the adb out of date and killing issue, it didn't prevent me from unlocking bootloader but, it did cause a problem during root process. specifically when trying to load SU. because adb kept killing itself, SU wouldn't get installed.
I solved that issue by removing htc sync, and leaving the drivers installed.
restart adb, use task manager and end adb.exe process. if it continues, look in task manager again for anything like android tools, droid explorer etc;
gl
This phone has its flaws too... Its choppy, some major apps not yet supported, force closing on Facebook, Wish android would get its stuff together too! Tons of addware all over there apps, and 30% or more of the android marketplace is filled with fake or virus apps

In what way is this even remotely helpful?
There are a lot of people that didn't find it a simple process. There was trial and error and learning involved.
Not everyone came out of the womb with the superior knowledge you clearly possess.

how do i root my dna

Ok I heard u need to disable the security or something with supercid. I recently downloaded the update that came out like 3 or 4 weeks ago. Idk when I downloaded it. But anyways I'm on a mac so I don't know if it will be a problem. Is their a one step program that will do it for me on mac. Btw I'm on mac osx 10.5.6
You are unable to root your device at this time because you took the update.

Thanks. So when the next update comes out I won't accept it and I guess ill wait till something comes out
Yes that's correct, definitely do not accept updates on a phone you think you may possible root down the road.
I feel like there will be a method for unlocking the 2.04 base eventually.
