[Q] I1717 S-pen with better tip? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I recently purchased an "S-pen Holder" off of eBay for use with my Note 10.1 (n8000), and while the pen holder is very very nice, the actual
S-pen is absolute crap compared to the one that comes with the note 10.1. The tip is very hard, and does not have the "gumminess" that allows the pen to lay down that nice real pressure sensitive pen look.
So my question is, did they ever make a less crummy pen for the n7000? Is there one available with has more of that modern Galaxy note feel to it? Or, is there a decent aftermarket pen with the same form factor.
I want to keep this fantastic case, but I will not be able to use this s-pen. The problem is that the case only fits the pen in the shape made for the n7000 and i1717.

Accessories for Gal Tab 7.7

This is just a placeholder!
Cover Official Samsung
Here's the official cover galaxy tab........ http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/samsung-p6800-galaxy-66908p.html
Official Samsung Bookcase cover
I received my Samsung bookcover for the 7.7. I gotta say it's not as good as either the bookcover for the OG 7" or the 10.1. The back and the front are two distinct grades of material, and the front just kind of flops around. The cutout on the spine for the power button looks odd, and I don't know why anyone would want to power on the screen without opening the cover. Does the power button answer voice calls? You also have to keep it open to a fairly tight angle when using it to prop the tab for viewing or else it will slide and fall. The cover for the 7" was more solid and let you keep the tablet propped up in landscape mode at much wider angle. Another qualm is that the hardened edges don't cover the whole top right corner.
Still, the fit around the back of the tab is quite good. It does creak a bit but I suppose fitting anything around the thin form factor won't be perfect (as opposed to a case that the tab is fully enclosed in). The material quality is decent and it doesn't detract too much from the sleekness of the naked tab.
All in all, it's not a bad case and probably the best one available at this early stage. I'd just give it a C+ to the OG 7" bookcase's A.
To be honest, with such a wonderfully crafted, thin device as this is, I think that adding a case to it somewhat detracts from the overall design beauty. That's just my opinion though

I agree, sort of. But 1) I like to be able to have the device prop itself up to watch videos and the folding case works well for that, 2) Scratches on shiny expensive gear are worse than boiling puppies alive. The Tab pops out of the Samsung case easily enough if you admire the exterior.
the stock samsung case is very minimalistic and is very slick!
Is it worth the price?
I've been reading mixed opinions. Don't know what to think. :/
I'll be ordering it soon from Negri.
I will post mine when it arrive
Plssssss helppp needed then is the Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 coming to Singapore :'(

@dickyohyk you can try sgbest.com
Don't think it's worth 55 pounds, as advertised, but all in all it's very nice.
I've got my as a preorder bonus with my 7.7, I really like the quality, the top right corner is really not covered (that's odd, seems like they though of a stylus over there...). Also I miss some smartcover-like magnetic lock, but that's not a killer drawback. As for the cutout for power button, I think it's made to prevent accidental turn on when closed, by pushing on the side. Also, I would prefer book-like openning not the current way.

S-pen holder.

Hi y'all.
I love the functions of the S-pen. However the physical design leaves a lot to be desired. At least in my clumsy paws.
Samsung makes an S-pen holder that adds a great deal of good ergonomy, sadly though it is made for the pen of the original Note.
You can see an example here:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=160955124637.
Please - does anybody know if the SGN3-pen will fit in this holder? It probably won't be a good fit, but that can be remedied. As long as you can close the holder over the pen and the button works.
Regards
Elo.

No. It's note 1 only accessory. You still can use note 1 pen with note 3 but it will have much less pressure sensitivity levels.
If you need thicker pen go for a wacom bamboo feel.

note pro accessories bargains

After a long wait till the prices came down I have upgraded to a note pro from a 10.1 2012 edition. I love it so far. I have been using Taobao for a while to buy various accessories Using Yoybuy as a shipping agent. I got my genuine samsung keyboard £30 it is the real thing. The only difference is the box and instructions is in Chinese. I started to look at spens. I found wacom bamboo stylus feel Selling for $1.64 I do have one as I am a designer and I have ordered a couple. It is worth a look for cases etc. Google translate comes in handy.
$1.64 for the stylus sounds wrong. Maybe it's a knockoff?

yes it does seem like an amazing price. I bought a couple so will keep you posted. I can always turn them into spen holders! Though I did get a bargain atomgsm.Co.uk are selling off all the samsung moschino and kirkwood offical note pro flip covers for only £11.69 I do like the black kirkwood one.
Link for kirkwood/moschino cases it is a UK company they are selling their note 3 cases and s5 cases cheap too.

The Wacom technology is patented, so it's no doubt a fake.
Still, if it works, it's probably still cheaper to just toss it in the bin when it breaks after a month or two and get a new one, you could do about 40 months for the price of the original.

There are a lot of fakes on the site mainly flip covers. But you can tell as the inner lining is always grey no matter what colour. A lot of generic spens definitely fake. Though there are originals as well.
The cheapest price I could get for an original samsung keyboard case here in the uk is $122. But got an original one from there for less than half the price Including shipping. I also got an original samsung bluetooth spen the one you can receive calls from For $24. It came out with the original note 10.1 2012. The price never really came down Works a treat with the note pro. Plus it comes with the full range of spen nibs from soft rubber to hard plastic. Which I got with my old note 10.1 2012 but sadly with my note pro just standard tips. If you are an artist or a designer the different nibs as well as calibration of the pen make a difference that's why I have a few pens.
But you are probably right about the wacom pen I am not holding my breath but it was worth the gamble.

Both, which is why I have 3 Bamboo Feels and 3 Spens for the same reason.
But I'm still miffed that my Intuos pen won't work on it. Different tech, I know; a girl can dream, right?
I've got a ton of stuff from china as well, some of it original, but for the serious accessories I prefer something with a warranty and quality certifications. The EU has a much, much higher legal quality demand than the US, let alone Asia. (You can notice the difference in the build quality of phones and tablets.)
Still, somtimes the low price is worth the shorter lifespan.

I thought intuos pen would work too but no joy either. Any other pens you could recommend? I have spen with eraser, bamboo feel, bt spen, note 3 pen 10.1 2011. Is it worth getting the spen holder or going for another bamboo feel? A girl can't have too many pens. The spen I got with my note pro the calibration was completely off the nibb sticks.......Hopefully a new nibb will sort it.
Any tips on drawing on the note or apps would be appreciated as there is always something new to discover.

What I did do was place the second rubber grip I got with the Intuos pen over the Bamboo feel. Bit of a tight fit, but now I've got a Bamboo pen with a very comfortable grip! (It doesn't look very pretty, but oh well.)
Haven't found a solution for the button yet, but it does make holding it whilst drawing much easier.
Haha, yea, I had to recalibrate all but one of the Bamboo pens. Nearly lost the button for the original Spen to the carpet in the process!
I've never tried the Spen holder, truth be told.
Here's a couple of apps to give a try :
Artflow: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bytestorm.artflow
Infinite Painter: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brakefield.painter
Can't forget our best friend's baby brother: Photoshop Touch! Tablet: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.adobe.pstouch Phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.adobe.pstouchphone (I sideloaded the tablet variant onto my Note 3 because I prefer landscape for Photoshop.)
For writing, lettering and sketching in one I love Papyrus. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steadfastinnovation.android.projectpapyrus It has an option to write with the pen and erase with your finger for Spen devices.
INKredile is a Vector writing/sketching app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viettran.INKredible&hl=en I use this for creating handwriting fonts, exporting it as a transparent png, loading it in Illustrator, image trace > 254 threshold + Ignore Whites > Expand > tweak > Place in Fontlab
And then there's Snapseed. Not quite a 'specially made for the Spen' app, but the Spen makes it that much more accurate! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.niksoftware.snapseed&hl=en (Made by NIK Software, the company behind NIKefex, who were bought by Google).

Thank you so much for your help I have got most of the programmes but inkcredible was just what I was after. I will try the intros rubber grip thanks for the tip I am after function rather than pretty. I do love the extra screen on this tablet. I love the note series.
Have you tried watercolour pencil I use it from time to time it gives you some really lovely drawing water blending effects.

Yea, Inkredible is a genius litle app. If you export as PDF, it exports as a Vector PDF. Real timesaver!
The only thing I miss is all my brushes in Photoshop.
Oh, fun! Didn't have that one yet! :good:
Have you tried Snapseed since it updated to version 2.0? That app is the main reason I'm buying this tablet and getting rid of my new laptop.

Yea, it's good. Still doesn't reach the level of its parent ColorEFEX (Which requires a full version of PHotoshop CS4 or higher), but it's a good dressed-down version.

Cover/case like the OG Tab S Samsung case

Hi guys,
I got my Tab S4 recently and I can't seem to find a decent case/cover for it.
I love the original Simple Cover Samsung case for the OG Tab S (this one: http://i-cdn.phonearena.com/images/...ooth-Keyboard-for-the-Galaxy-Tab-S-10.5.jpg).
Is there a case for the Tab S4 that looks and works like this one above?
Thanks for your help!
Many people who have installed cases which attach via magnets have reported adverse S-Pen effects which could be why Samsung has elected to use a corner clip method for attaching their covers.
I chose to use the OEM Samsung Book Cover Case which is minimalistic and in my opinion adds little bulk.

Pen replacement

Does anyone have suggestions for buying another pen? I've seen them for $30 & $60. Sort of pricey.

You can get cheap ones on eBay or Amazon. They are just cheap Wacom ones. But they aren't as precise and seem to track about 2mm before the point
Actually, I had an old pen with the my note 4 (phone) and it works fine with the tab s4. I have one in my bag and one on my desk. it is just smaller.
The Pen from my Galaxy Note 2014 Edition also works. The tip is smaller. It was narrow bodied to fit in a recess in the tablet body, works fine, but is uncomfortable to use compared to the bulkier pen that came with the Tab S4. Not something I noticed with the old tablet.
