Android Gamepad on windows? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought an ASUS nexus player gamepad. paired it on windows, everything works great, except the analog sticks??, paired it to my GS5 and it works just peachy.
To be more specific. I tried it in x360ce, xpadder, and default driver. All on windows 8.1 x64.
Doesn't show up in x360ce at all
Shows up in xpadder and mapping works great, but both joysticks seem to be some strange axis on windows.
Regular driver is pretty whack on windows to say the least.
Disappointing. I know its meant for the nexus player, but PC support could have been easily implemented on their end. Asus usually does it right. They didn't with this product.
If I can find a way to get the sticks working, I'm going to try to get an xinputwrapper, for full PC support.
UPDATE: pcsx2's lilypad plugin detects the following:
DirectInput controller (no surprise there)
Left stick: up/down axis 8 - left/right axis 9
Right stick: up/down axis 6 - left/right axis 7
cant figure out how to remap those axies, seeing as most of these apps only support a limited number of axes.

Update 2: Only bumping this as i feel it is something important, as this will be an issue with every android gamepad standard complying device.
I was hoping that using the registry, I would be able to remap the axes to those that windows wants to use.
navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_0B05&PID_4500
(Where vid&pid represent your gamepad, and my vid/pid represented my BT as its a wireless android pad of course)
Also trying to understand the registry options for the gamepad axes will lead you to:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff538340(v=vs.85).aspx
Although going through that msdn, it would seem like the axes arent supported. The full list of properties as described in Lilypad is:
Button 0-8
Numeric Keypad
Consumer Control
Hat switches (4)
Accelerator/+/-
Brake/+/-
Axis6+/-
Axis7+/-
Axis8+/-
Axis9+/-
And DirectInput only supports

There must be a way to capture RAW output and convert it to directinput at least and Xinput at best, I wish someone else would chime in that knew more about this.

Its strange that your controller isnt recognized by x360ce, afaik if windows sees it x360ce should too. Have you tried with the latest version of x360ce? There is a beta which if it gets your controller detected, youd be a step closer
heres link from the official site http://jocys.com/files/software/x360ce.App.3.0.1.Beta.1.zip
Im in a similar situation , but with a Moga Pro Power controller. In this case the triggers arent detected with dinput. They ofcourse work with lilypad, and they are detected like accelerator/brake. But looking at x360ce device objects page for the controller, they are actually revealed to be Y and Rz axis. But i got stuck at the binary values for the remaps, and im not sure what i need to put there.

You know I was pretty much told by a moderator that this wasn't important, that no developer would want to work on this because its "not important". So I went and returned the damn thing that same day. Still pissed that that guy had the nerve., after I clearly put effort in but oh well. Guess someone else will have to deal with it.
Just to forward the moderators crap message:
Ah, I misunderstood in that case. I'll move it to the Android General section momentarily. Development sections aren't for research but for development related releases (and in some instances, development related discussions, but those are usually about ROMs/kernels/actual code). From experience, though, I can tell you posting on the development forum will just get your thread ignored by uninterested developers and slammed by normal users.
Let me know I'd you have any questions.

Connection Issue - Dual ASUS Gamepads On ASUS Windows 10 PC
I just bought a new desktop (ASUS M32CD) and i installed a GTX 760 and i bought two ASUS Gamepads (ASUS TV500BG) thinking that i would be able to use my computer to play two player games with my friends. The controllers are bluetooth and the computer is bluetooth 4.0.
When i use one controller that one controller works fine. When i try to connect the second controller , it connects for about 10 seconds then disconnect. So my issue is that only one will stay connected. But both are paired.
ISSUE: Both controllers pair, but only one stays connected. Both stay connected for a moment then one disconnects. Before is disconnects its stops being responsive.
TROUBLESHOOTED: I know ASUS has released drivers for windows 10 for the gamepads. I have installed only the 64-bit drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now. Batteries are fine, i get the same results when i try to connect they opposite controller, the first one to connect stays connected. The other connects briefly then shuts off.

[new release] VJVolubilis - wifi/IR/Bluetooth Control

Guys,
I've been so busy at work this week, you wouldn't believe. I'm beginning to get the shakes from lack of coding, but a few guys were asking for something similar to a tool I knocked up for my own use. I thought I'd release it anyway, subject to future improvements. Due to lack of time it's a little rough around the edges (very brief status messages, no interface, command line only), but it generally works, I hope

It currently supports the following command line options:
Bluetooth Control:
-blueon Enable bluetooth
-blueoff Disable bluetooth
-bluetoggle Toggle bluetooth
-bluediscoveron Make bluetooth discoverable
Audio Gateway Control:
-agon Enable audio gateway Audio Channel
-agoff Disable audio gateway Audio Channel
-agcon Enable audio gateway Control Channel
-agcoff Disable audio gateway Control Channel
WiFi Control: (WM5 Only)
-wifion Enable WiFi
-wifioff Disable WiFi
-wifitoggle Toggle WiFi
Infra Red Control:
-iron Enable Infra Red "receive beams"
-iroff Disable Infra Red "receive beams"
-irtoggle Toggle "receive beams"
Status:
-status Display Status messages
Command lines can be combined, so you can toggle wifi and bluetooth at the same time etc.
-AGON can be used to pass audio from some WM5 devices to a paired bluetooth headset, so hopefully you can listen to music etc over your headset without too much voodoo. This code is not widely tested (ie I lack hardware and time), but please email or report in my forum if you have success or failures, and which hardware and software it worked with.
Please note - I'm not sure what success you will have in transferring audio over, and whether or not it works on WM2003. The Magician at least lacks the hardware/software support for you to listen to music in this way, but on the Universal etc, it should permit this.
I intend to add a few more comms controls over time.
EDIT: I forgot to add, this only works on the out-of-the-box Microsoft Bluetooth stack at this stage. I may investigate other stacks later, but not right now
Guys, when you're discussing you're experiences with Bluetooth and AGON, I think it will be helpful to indicate:
1. Phone you're using
2. Type of headset
3. Command line used (eg AGON)
4. Whether you're using Voice Command
5. What your experience is (it worked, worked when you pressed bluetooth dial button, doesn't work etc)
Sorry for sounding like your mother, but I developed VJVolubilis for my own research because of my difficulties trying to use Voice Command on the Universal. This information would be helpful to try to pinpoint why Voice Command works properly for some people through the Bluetooth headset, and not for others.
Version Info:
v0.1
06.02.2006
- Initial Release
v0.2
08.02.2006
- Tidier status info
- Wizard Wifi Support (I hope!)
Ok, check it out on my webpage here.

VJ: Sorry for the delay...I first had to figure out.. the command line thing
sorry...lol..
so i did install gs finder and i edited the shortcut (which software does allow hold and tap? at least gs finder didn't on my universal)
now i am still not sure if i did it correctly, but: if i hit on any app or entry in gsfinder including your app, nothing happens.
but if i hit on the edited shortcut (still within gsfinder, I have not figured out how to go further, and actually what does the TQ function do...?), ao if i hit the -agon edited shortcut, it will bring up the voicecontrol panel...so obviously i did something not too wrong..so while the voicecontrol is on, i will be connected to the bt headset, but once it goes away i am losing it. so same is i would be pressing the button of my headset....
@vijay555: You were aware that feature requests would come up, weren't you?
Well, I use different BT stacks on the Magician and I'd favour one short cut for enabling BT regardless the BT stack.
Hi Vijay,
I'm not sure if te fault was caused by me being a noob in this.. I tried to use the -AGON command on my Exec and realise that if I transfer the audio to the BT headset,it will activate the voice command and then transfer the audio back to the Exec speaker instead of the BT headset.
Btw ...it's a great sw bro!Yada man
Chatty: I've never used any other stack, and have amended the above post to indicate it's MS stack only for now, but send me over your stack and I'll look into it if I can.
argh2000: this is strange. I went home at lunch to test it and it works as described for me.
Basically, start bluetooth and pair, use the -agon command line and it will open the Audio Gateway, transferring all sound (eg TCPMP) to the headset.
Now, a strange side effect I found on my universal is that opening the gateway automatically starts Voice Command etc if you have the appropriate software installed. This may or may not be beneficial, but is certainly not built into VJVolubilis.
Now, my experience with transferring sound via the Audio Gateway may be a non-intentional bug. Voice Command doesn't work properly for me, on my universal pressing the VC button starts VC, but then doesn't close the gateway after it's finished recognising, so basically I can't restart VC, but I can listen to music through my headset. So for me, the Gateway stays open and all sound is transferred to my headset (a donated Sony SBH-35)
Removing the Voice Command shortcut from your startup folder may help to keep the gateway open for you so you can listen to music etc, but is probably going to have other sideeffects for VC. However, it may not!
Your experience with the agon option will vary, particularly since this tool was written specifically to aid in my battle with VC, documented in this thread.
I'll try to update the cab shortly with some shortcuts for example usage when I get a little time. But for now, it's for confident users only
V
@vijay555: I use this stack for PAN profile (surf and VoIP) and might use this stack for my yet-to-buy A2DP headset (listening to MP3) in the near future.
And I use all 3 stacks (3rd being the original MS stack) for navigation (GPS via SPP).
Chatty, are you stable with that many stacks?
I'm worried to upset my lovely little Magician with a new stack, but I'll try to investigate the bluesoleil at some point. A2DP - I've got nothing to test it on. Someone want to send me a stereo headset
I'll try to look into it.
V
@vijay555: As of now, there are only 2 installed. Except the different handling of each stack and the needed soft-reset for a switch I have nothing to complain about.
Unfortunately this project never came up with any solutions.
Do you know if their code is available? I've got some info on bluetooth profiles etc, and wouldn't mind looking into it. But later.
PM me if you want, but can you tell me what process you're using to switch between stacks? It might be possible to come up with an elegant switcher as well.

Hello Vijay,
VJVolubilis tested on QTEK 9100 (SPV M3000) WM5 :
-bluetoggle : works fine
-status doesn't works
none of the -wifi commands work
I'm wainting for the -wifitoggle command as I've never reached any software to do it.
Guys, I've reuploaded the cab, hopefully with some example shortcuts in there. Please test wifi etc on WM5 Universals. These shortcuts work on both my Magician and Universal.
Please note, they target the \program files\ folder.
If you have a non English OS, you will have to rename them.
V
Vijay I am so anxious about this software of yours. It maybe the answer for the people waiting for developments on the BT Stack for the Magician.
O.T. Vijay, if you plan to take a vacation here in Dubai, let me know. I want to personally treat you out for the work you have done for the community.
Mvmajorem I was watching a documentary yesteday about The Palm, and The World. For an invitation to Dubai, I'd quit my job right now!
Has anyone tried the new shortcuts? I'm curious that no one's had any success. The wifi toggle feature uses the same functionality as the Wireless Manager on the Universal, and tested on my Universal, it does work. I wonder if I'm doing something you guys aren't!

AGon and off seems working but i dnt have bluetooth device soo i cant confirm but i get b.t signal,
blue toggle works

decent fm transmitter

Hi guys, is there anywhere a small fm transmitter with mini usb so can be attached and powered directly from TC.Some range of Sony Ericson phones are offering some for their devices.
It would be very nice if we have something like that.
No luck searching the net

To be honest, I don't think there is such a thing as a decent FM transmitter. Why would you want to limit your entire music library to FM quality at best? There are so many better options out there from Stereo Bluetooth A2DP to direct line in options. But if you must go for imo poor sounding FM, maybe the Motorola T505 (it uses an A2dp connection to the phone and an fm connection to the radio and has a built in rechargeable battery).

Here are some others. Parrot and Venturi offer similar solutions. Ego has some high end (non-FM) models.

Well, I don't know but I am not realy aiming to get the perfect sound out from my car stereo.I ve got a cheap transmitter which works just fine, but you still have to connect cables and chargers and it is mess in the car.
Of course there are so many better ways to connect via bluetooth,or change your car stereo with a b/t compatable and so on, but I don't want to spend £100-£200 just to listen music in my car.
Regards
Not sure if it's available in the UK yet, but I'm very pleased with my Venturi, http://www.myventuri.com/
Looks cool, A2DP-in, line-in, line-out, FM-out, charges HTC via mini-USB, shows song titles via RDS (depends on media player support) and has a surprisingly good sound quality through FM. Maybe a bit too much bass boost but I like it. The only disadvantages for me are (a) that it powers off instantly when the cig-lighter power drops (and doesn't reconnect automatically but there are WM tools to help with that) and (b) it fakes the Travel Pilot signal so the radio won't change to the 'real' FM TP when broadcasted.
It's maybe not the cheapest option (~100€) but it's something I can definetely recommend.
Yes I ve seen those kits as well, and they are available in UK.I was just thinkig-first you connect via bluetooth and then the device sends it through FM so whats the point?
So having just FM transmitter like this one will be ideal...

Maybe soon in China they will make one

I would like to buy ventury mini, but i have a question about handsfree function: I have a touch cruise (it is not in list at ventury webpages, but i hope it is supported too) and in every HTC phones it has not Phonebook use. So my question is, if I would like make a call, so I stop the music on the phone and press the call button on ventury and ON MY PHONE select contact and call. An incoming call just pick up by ventury mini green phone icon. Is that true? Or it is not possible to use it like handsfree with touch cruise because is not supported Phonebook use.
What is correct. Thank you
Not sure if I understand you 100%. But the Venturi works fine with the Touch Cruise (I have one too).
It does not support the phonebook, but that is no problem - you just make the calls with the phone, not the Venturi. Just use the phone as you normally do (start call / accept call / hang up etc) and the Venturi will act as your "remote microphone" and connection to the car speakers (via radio) if you know what I mean. There is no need to touch any key on the Venturi if you don't want to.
How about this one?
Any opinions?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-FM-Transm...oryZ3728QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Dear all I confirm: Venturi mini and Touch Cruise works just fine. In Italy it is quite difficult to find free FM frequencies, but once you find one the quality is good indeed. And also the microphone works good.

[APP] BT Audio Toggle

Before I go any further I want to explicitly express that I only have made this small release to make my own life a little bit more comfortable. I make this remark because I do not want to offend the developer of the basic component of my release in any way.
My release relies completely of the functionality that Vijay555 built into his VJVolubilis release. This great piece of software (that has much more features than I use) can be found here: http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis
===========================================================
As I have a Bluetooth carkit with a reasonable sound quality, I wanted to use this carkit to play podcasts over my car speakers. VJvolubilis is very well capable of toggling the BT Audio gateway, so the functionaliuty is available (see link above). But I wanted this functionality to be better accessible when driving.
So I created:
- A Icon resource with a Green and a Red BT icon
- 2 shortcuts that send the agon/agoff parameter to VJVolubilis in order to switch on of off the BT Audio gateway and that make use of the customized BT icons
Having it all (together with the VJVolubilis executable) in a single installer cab gives me just what i wanted. The shortcuts are placed in a Start menu programs group "BT Audio" (please note the custom icons apparently will only be visible in the start menu after a soft reset).
I have put the two shortcuts on my Sense shortcuts (in Sense the custom icons are visible right after intall !), so i can now switch the BT Audio gateway on and off quite easy (ie when driving).
I use this on WM6.5 and Sense 2.1 on my MDA Vario IV / HTC Touch Pro
One more remark on the credits: This release relies hugely on the work that Vijay555 put into VJVolubilis

Absolutely!
I don't know if VJVolubilis still works as well as it should as I haven't looked at it for quite some time, but the code I used should work on all Microsoft Bluetooth stack phones, so absolutely, be my guest
V
Well VJVolubilis has been working on WM5 and WM6.x for me to toggle the BT Audio Gateway. So you did quite a good job back in 2006!!
I tried this on my tilt2 with EnergyRom and on clicking BT Audio On does nothing. When I turn on bluetooth it's connecting as heatset, but for stereo , it's connecting when I select stereo audio from communication manager/ bluetooth. But with this cab file installed nothing happens. It's really difficult to go to settings every time connecting to audio.
I am not sure if Rhodium has Microsoft stack or not. Does it only work with Microsoft stack?

This app will NOT use the Stereo capabilities of the phone.
It just opens the BT Audio gateway that normally is used for telephone calls via Bluetooth. This way you can use any ordinary BT carkit (or headset) to e.g. listen to podcasts.
The quality is reasonable. Also, after any phone call coming in you will have to re-open the gateway (as the phone app closes it alfter ending the call).

How to
1 Connect pad via cable and use for 1 min. It will pair the pad without you knowing
2 Disconnect pad and turn on Bluetooth. Press power on pad and will come up Ps3 controller connected
3 Enjoy ps3 native without cables.
This is great info. Glad to see they are integrating even the little features like this.

I think this is great feature on ICS. Now, I think PS3 bluetooth pad is must have to enjoy console quality gaming on ICS tablet.
Thanks for the info.
So this only works if you have the keyboard dock? Any way to use the ps3 controller if you have just the tablet?
Hmm I wonder if anyone can get this working with the pairing application for sixaxis (here)
I'm stuck since the transformer is asking for a pin ( tried 0000 and 1234 ) Maybe someone knows the pin ? Anyway to bad I dont have a dock or usb extension =(
the sixpair tool is inside /system/bin play with it and do not need the dock
now we wont games like shadowgun or riptide gp or gta3 on your tablets.

Hey guys, I'm having difficulty getting my PS3 controller working with my Prime. I did the setup as listed above and under Bluetooth settings, the controller is listed as a paired device. The Bluetooth MAC address of my controller is also the same as the address of my Prime, I verified this through an application on my PC.
When plugged in via USB with Bluetooth off, the controller doesn't work until I press the PlayStation button. The LEDs will flash quickly and the controller inputs are received by my Prime. After about 10 seconds pass, the controller shuts off and no inputs are accepted.
The above behavior is exactly the same when I turn Bluetooth on as well. If I try to use it wirelessly through Bluetooth however, inputs are not received by my Prime even though it is listed as being connected under my Bluetooth settings. Again, after 10 seconds, the controller will turn off and it is no longer listed as being connected.
Doesn't make much sense to me, I'm not sure why the controller turns itself off after 10 seconds when connected via USB, and why any inputs through Bluetooth have no effect when connected.
I don't know if this makes any difference, but in the picture posted above, the PS3 controller has a joystick icon next to it under the paired devices. On my list of paired devices, it displays a keyboard.
has anyone tried this with a knockoff controller. i know the app had issues with non genuine controllers but i would love to get one fo those $15 ones for my tablet if possible.

Can you elaborate? I'm having the same problem as the poster above you. I used the Sixaxis Pair Tool to manually enter my Prime's address, the prime detects it just fine but when I try to pair it, it asks for a PIN. I'd really like to get this working without having to buy a dock or USB dongle.
Interesting! Will try it soon!
You'd still probably use the PC tool to put your Transformers MAC in the controller.

I don't know if this makes any difference, but in the picture posted above, the PS3 controller has a joystick icon next to it under the paired devices. On my list of paired devices, it displays a keyboard.

I have the same problem as you, i also have a keyboard icon. I bought my dualshock 3 on ebay, and first i thought it was faulty or something, but it did work in windows using ds3 tool.
Did you find a solution to this?
[Edit]
I believe i found out what could be the most likely cause of this on my controller, it is not a original ps3 controller.. so i guess ill just throw it in the bin, and maybe get a real one.
I wouldn't toss it. The PS3 has as a proprietary system so they should all be on the same standard.
Just use the DualShock3 program from the market to test. The latest version also allows you to map hotspots to key presses so you can play games that don't have built in button assignments.
So while it may run without it, I would still use the method we've always had. I dont see problem with requiring a 3rd party app... it worked well.

Asus Transformer - ICS
No I haven't been able to get it working natively on my device yet. I have also seen posts from other people that have this working that shows a keyboard icon instead of the joystick, so I guess that has no bearing.
Regarding the 3rd party app, I was hoping to not root my device until I get back to Canada. I am in Asia travelling right now and wish to keep everything stock until I am home in case anything happens. I do not have a laptop with me so there is no means to salvage anything should something go wrong.
And the search continues...!
I understand the travel part. Well you could always buy one from Walmart (or foreign equivalent) that you could return it too if you don't have better results.
I like the sixaxis app because it just works. It sucks to have to launch the app prior to using the controller... and I don't think it works natively in ALL games without some sort of button or screen mapping. But for emulators it is a dream.
From what you describe, the controller turns on then off, it sounds like the two aren't pairing properly or the controller doesn't see your tablet. You need to make sure you use the PC to type in the Bluetooth MAC address to the controller...... Come to think of it, the knock-off controller might not be saving the MAC address of your tablet the same way a real DualShock controller does. Your essentially hacking the controller... and the knock-off might have a different flash process entirely.
I just tried to Pair my PS3 controller to my ICS Transformer. Initially it showed the Controller when searching, then it asked for a pin. Before I could type it in, it disappeared. Now it won't even display, and the controller just flashes for a minute.

Haha yep exactly whats happening to me. If you restart your transformer it will find it the first time (at least it did mine). I still can't get mine working. This would be amazing if I got this to work.

Hmmm. Maybe try to enter the pin really fast?

I've had my Prime give me a pin for my controller a couple times as well and ask me to input the pin on my controller, which makes no sense as this just isn't possible.
That is awesome!
I noticed that only the first analog stick actually works (I'm testing it with N64oid on my Transformer Prime), does anyone else have this issue? Perhaps a solution? Or is this just an issue with N64oid.

Connecting Touchpad to Windows 7 via Bluetooth

I spent some time searching for an answer but couldn't find one.
I am trying to connect my Touchpad with latest build CM9 to my Windows 7 (64Bits) laptop.
I can pair the TP successfully but when Windows starts searching and installing drivers I get the "No driver found"
The reason I want this feature is because I would like to be able to play audio through my laptop without using a cable like I have now (headphones OUT from TP to line input IN on Laptop.
Let me know if I need to manually install the drivers or if there is another workaround.
Thank you in advance,
Zeek
I have always used Wifi to accomplish this... there are tonnes of market apps which will do this. I use VLC Direct the most.

What I am trying to achieved here is to stream the touchpad audio from different apps/sources (Touchpad main audio)
For example I listen to podcasts on BeyondPod, also watch news on multiple news apps, listen to music from different app sources too.
If I could pair the touchpad successfully and transmit the full audio from the TP to my Laptop, it would be the easiest since I wouldn't have to open any additional app or windows player to start streaming but to get in range to connect via bluetooth.
I think TP has not enough driver to stream audio over bluetooth it only can transfer files between pc and TP though i dont have Bluetooth in my pc i havent try it.
okay
got it... i understand... now to go home and get my TP

The Touchpad booted into either Webos or Android can easily stream music via Bluetooth. I have used a Logitech Bluetooth audio receiver and a belkin one to stream music directly to my hi-fi without any problems. Here is a link to the Logitech one which costs £26 the Belkin is £15 .

Good news!
Looks like I got the answer to my own thread...
The touchpad bluetooth drivers coudn't get installed (look at my first screenshot- first post) because I only had installed the standard Microsoft bluetooth drivers.
The way I got the TP successfuly connected via bluetooth was by downloading (in my case) the Dell Wireless 370 bluetooth drivers and installing them to overwrite the MS ones.
After installing the dell drivers I tried to pair the TP with Windows 7 again and got most of the drivers installed (screenshot attached)
In order to play the audio from the TP to your PC after the Bluetooth pairing proccess, just double click on the paired TP on windows and click CONNECT "Music and Audio", that's it!!
