Will factory reset simlock the phone? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hi all, I'm planning to buy the T-Mobile S5 (900T) and the seller will unlock it for me (I don't know the specifics of the steps). But if I decide to later factory reset the phone will it lock again (just like new) and require the unlocking process again? If anyone here has experience on this please help. Thanks a lot.
// After some googling seems like most T-Mobile version of other android phones (including the galaxy S4) doesn't get sim locked after factory reset.

If it is a carrier and not a software unlock, that will persist after a master reset.
So far I have not seen and software unlocks for this device.

Carrier Sim unlocks are permanent. Factory reset won't sim lock the phone. This is a question for the person you're buying the phone from.

[Q] Problems with SIM Unlock

Hey Guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out since I can't seem to find answers anywhere to my problem. I got an unlock code from T-Mobile but when I put a foreign sim into the phone is says "invalid sim, 0 attempts remain". I got the phone on craigslist so I'm guessing whoever had it before me tried unlocking it with the wrong code too many times. I have the right code now, how do I reset the attempts? I can't believe that the phone is hard locked and there isn't anything I can do about it. It's pretty frustrating so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!!!
really???? no one knows anything about this issue?
So people here know how to put different operating systems on phones but no one knows if it is possible to reset the sim unlock counter?????
the phone is hard locked and (certainly in most cases) can now only be unlocked by using a hardware unlocker. (for most phones, you get three attempts via the keypad, and a further 10 via a hardware connection normally.)
thanks for the reply! what exactly does hardware unlocking mean? would i still need to use the code given to me by t-mobile?
speak to a phone shop (or better yet speak to t mobile first)
have you tried to restore the phone to factory(not a hard reset). I would try going to Tmobiles website and try to update the rom...

^is for US phones I just did mine today because the guy that put android on it removed the unlock screen and I was unable to unlock the phone. And no one on here was able to answer any questions for me so don't feel bad.
Got it unlocked last night! turns out the sim card i was using was locked. i tried a different one and it let me key in the code. thanks for all the help!

good stuff. No, flashing / hard resets will not ever lock the phone now.

Locked bootloader

Hi,
My HAM2 is locked. I had a Consumer Cellular account. I had problems with the phone. Sent back to Huawei for a factory reset. They sent me a new phone locked to CC. They gave me a bunch of numbers which didn't work. Then they claim that the EMEI number for the phone is not in their system since they didn't issue the new phone. Is there a way to completely wipe the phone and unlock it?
Thanks,

Att s9+ flashing to T-Mobile

Hey guys. I just ordered my s9+ (att model) specifically with the intention of flashing TMobile firmware for use on their Network. I chose the att version because it was on sale for $200 off, and since I'm gonna trade in my s7 I'm getting $200 for that and i got the phone for $400 off so i couldn't pass it up.
My question is, not having an att sim, and no plans to activate in their Network, would i need to acquire a sim unlock first, either from att or 3rd party, and would flashing the T-Mobile firmware undo the lock or is the sim unlock not even required?
Phone is paid for from Samsung.com so nothing owed and is brand new. I don't know what att requirements are but i could buy an unlock pretty much anywhere. But if it is needed first, would i need just a sim unlock or a complete device unlock? And do i need to do the sim unlock before flashing another carrier firmware for it to work?
All info helps. Thanks!
Flashing the firmware is just another method of unlocking your phone. As far as I know, it will be useless to unlock the phone before flashing (however, I am not 100% sure).

Was told that sim unlock was at network level and had nothing to do with the Rom. So flashing wouldn't unlock it from the previous carrier. I flashed my s7 from Verizon to T-Mobile but it was previously sim unlocked. It worked like a charm and appears to be network locked to them. Device unlock all doesn't nothing and actually fails lol. Don't have another sim to test though. I'll play it safe and unlock first for the s9.

Bought locked phone

So i bought a used phone and its locked by a google account. Tried to wipe, factory reset, hard reset, multiple softwares on pc, and even contacting the seller, without success.
What do i do now?
Thanks in advance, and greetings from austria.
Did you ever get an answer to this? I know it probably won't help now but I managed to unlock the FRP by swapping SIM cards from other carriers. This was in an effort to 'Unlock' the phone which I'm still trying to do. The FRP appears to be unlocked but I can't get the phone to ask for the unlock code that I have. If you or indeed anyone else has a solution I'd be grateful to hear it.
Thanks.

Question Verizon A02S unlocked but not able to use on other networks. Need help unlocking

Hi,
So this device I bought from facebook marketplace and was told it's fully unlocked.
After inserting a different SIM, the device works for a minute, then shows an error saying it's not a verizon SIM and disconnects from the network.
I contacted Verizon and they're telling me that it's unlocked but I guess something in the firmware that prevents me from using the phone. I did a factory reset, now the phone setup won't finish without a Verizon SIM card. it stays stuck on that screen.
Is there a custom firmware that I flush this phone with and be able to use the phone?
Please advise.
Thanks.
