Why every version of (min to max size) GApps shows "Insufficent space"? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone before: Korean SHW-M250K, Android version 2.3.4
Changed it to ICS GT-I9100 android version 4.4 using this tutor = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28453431&postcount=1035
Result: Everything seems good but no mobile network
Then changed it again to android version 5.1.5 ROM is CM 12.1
Tried to install GApps but always get insufficent storage error. No matter what version min to max size.
What should i do?

You have to repartition system, normal is 512 mb, insufficient for LP and mm roms, so gapps won't fit. Repit system to 1 gb. Always have a backup of efs partition, if you screw up no mobile signal, unknown imei , baseband etc!
Read here for repartition , Want to update to CM13? Read this first!

Perhaps if you communicate a little less abrasive and frankly, rude, you might get more help.
You asked a question, someone kindly replied and told you what to do. This is a smartphone development forum. You have to expect to be faced with terms like IMEI, ROMs, baseband etc etc. This isn't tech support 101.
If you don't understand, either do some research into what they said (it's not difficult), or explain that you don't understand and could they please provide some steps or additional information that will help you.
You'll find people treat you a whole lot better if you treat them the same way

When ppl ask from me about something on internet i try to explain it really hard with every single detail. Because u don't know about his knowledge about something.
How the hell supposed to i know about all of them? atleast dont write 1- 3 letter. mm? imie?
And no i don't have to study all those thing. Just a little knowledge.

Your problem is that you don't read the help forums first or any at all. it's not rocket science to read a guide how to do it, step by step. You are not the first doing same mistake in a hurry, getting impatient to see new features of a custom rom! everyone has make a mistake and we are not born smart! you learn in time! if you could just read in the time you that spend typing and being rude, those links saves you from the trouble!
Inform yourself first, before asking questions and yelling at me like I've ruined your phone!

Im not a pro or a developer, just a simple man and user like you! if you are unfamiliar with those terms then google , wikipedia is you friend!
If just read that lp and mm roms are bigger and they will not fit a 512 mb partition... lp stand for lollipop - CM12.1, android 5.1.1
mm = marshmallow cm13 - android 6
imei = International Mobile Station Equipment Identity
efs partition = http://gadgetsacademy.com/efs-data-android-explained/
baseband = A baseband processor (also known as baseband radio processor, BP, or BBP) is a device (a chip or part of a chip) in a network interface that manages all the radio functions (all functions that require an antenna); however, this term is generally not used in reference to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios. A baseband processor typically uses its own RAM and firmware.
When you are sitting in front of your pc and have an internet connection, you have acces to a vast information... but you are to lazy to read.... if you do things blindly , don't be expected to work as you would!

Update necessary for Newbies ?

Hello,
I have my Hero for a month and know that Android 2.0 is coming...
I would like to be advised if it is good to update my Phone which is version :
2.6.27-a5504199
build : 1.76.66.5 146733
Soft : 1.0.0.A6288
Is this one recent version, is this usefull to update to anewer version... What I tried but not working troughout HTC.com
I know I need to root my phone, but what will it bring to my phone as rextra features or speed...
So, please give me your feedback and if it were your phone what will you do... ?
thanks for your reply
if it were my phone i'd install modacos custom rom 2.9
thanks, but what does offer it more ?
it gives you everything that it says it will in the first post of the thread over at modacos forums. or here at the forums. i believe in you, you can read all that.

it is way faster. and has some tools. and is rooted.
To add to what all above members have contributed , I can say that
Modaco is a master chef and adds all tasty ingridients and spices to our taste.
sorry can we just take a step back a moment? (sorry to sort of hijack this thread with another question, though related)
can someone explain what rooted means in terms of these phones?
im also new to using smart phones, great phone, though when something goes wrong its bit more tricky to sort out.

you can execute commands as user "root". means you can do everything, including access every part of the filesystem, delete/replace/alter every file. wifi or bluetooth tethering needs it for example. also droidwall, which can control web access for apps.
ok i understand that. so does that mean i could delete things like the stocks n shares app along with peep and other things i dont need or want?
Would this enable me to change the colour of the menu bar at the bottom or even the whole theme itself? if so could someone direct me on what to do?dont want to mess anything up.
but also as buzjay asks is the new update neccesary?
sorry these questions must sound so simple lol just want to make sure before i go delving into the bowls of the phone.
thanks
- yes
- yes. ask someone in the themes section who already did it or find out by looking at their themes.
- it is not "necessary". your phone does make calls without it, doesn't it?

Xperia x10 Kitchen (for innocent people willing to try)

Simply wanting to know what kind of tools (kitchen) people use to make the roms.
Cant seem to understand how to port from from other devices to the x10.
Really am willing to try and learn abit.
Have done alot of google searching but nothing comes up with xperia. Nothing i feel helps my needs. Just want to be on the same page as the developers in this site.
Give a brother a hand here.....

Thing is that i have all that done, got the ubuntu running fine aswell, just dont understand how i can "lets say" port a 2.2 froyo to our x10? I really cant seem to understand this part. Do i have to place some system files? Any help would be appreciated.
Ty for your time mate
it is unix /linux stuff
currenly we are locked out to SE kernel, so you "just" have to mak froyo compatible to SE kernel .
It means to optimize , change, recompile modules, "drivers" and so on, of course debuging ,

okey, my question to you is i can take what ever rom i want out there and install it from xrecovery, and it will run? Becouse this is what i am wondering, how i can port another rom to x10. Ofc the bugs comes after but thats another thing i have to search for.
sorry, but everything was answered in my previous post
NO you can not.
Every phone have a different hardware, software modification is requred. You have to modifi "drivers" to the current hardware. I think you are Windows boy so better example is :Will your nvidia card works on ATI drivers ?
First you have know a bit more than basics from unix / linux world, like :
modules
kernel
drivers
libraries
filesystems
swap
mount points ... and so on ..
I can see you are not home in Linux /unix thema , if you will understand the basic rules from linux world, then just port your knowledge to the android.
And voila you are ready to cook .
Remeber there are many people with big knowledge and willingness to help. Just ask them, imho unix/linux people share their knowledge with hapiness .

I know small things about linux. But this is not my issue, i am willing to install another rom from another device. "How can i port the rom to? what kind of files do i "for sure" need to change. Please forcus on my problem rather then trying to disrespect my intellect. If you dont know the answer, simply dont post.

I don't think he intended to disrespect. He is right when he say, the more you know about linux, the easier it'll be.
Anyway, the first step will be to change drivers for hardware support depending of your hardware.
As he said start with the kitchen from unlocker. And with that, all question you have will be answered here: http://developer.android.com/index.html
good info
I really dont think hes openly trying to insult your intellect and what he says is correct. Before you get to the actual porting and modifying your going to need some programming skills and a good understanding of how drivers and such work and how they can be modified. Remember that the idea is to get the software to talk to the hardware. Its unfortunately not as simple as just taking files and making a change here or there and then including that in your rom files.
Not trying to say dont learn it, just need to know where to start your journey of learning.
Happy programming! (Which is good because i have done programming and hate it with a passion)
Edit: also remember that a knowledge of linux IS the problem as android is simply linux.

I do not want to disrespect your intelect or knowledge or harm you in any way ..
I only want to explain you what you can wait and what you will need.
As ttf said you need to modify hardware drivers first.(btw I said it before too), These drivers have to be modified to the actual X10 hardware, but also to our current kernel!
froyo have 2.32 kernel by default our x10 have 2.29(+ modified by SE).
Cyanogen have its own kernel and CM Rom will never work on its full beaty without CM Kernel . (if it is possible it will take enourmos time and effort)

[Q] Sharp SH-12C Custom Roms?

Hello XDA,
I am currently debating on buying the SH-12C for my gf. One of the major things holding me back from buying it would be lack of custom roms, root-ability, and support.
Does anyone know of any forums or websites that provide these services?
I searched XDA and Googled "SH-12C custom roms" but I had no luck.
Thanks,
lilhugo

as you maybe know there was an update for the sh-12c and we already have that firmware-files in this forum !
the only bad thing is , its coded in .enc format and i posted a way how it could probably work to unpack/decode the files >>here<<.
so if this contains a whole firmware ,maybe we would be able to make lots of modifications, custom roms and the most important thing ...ROOT!!!
but it seems there are not much people here who want to do the first step or something for their "root"
iam tryin things on and on , every day ,,,my skills are also limited ..hmm
some ppl from asian forums will solve that first i think ...

Anyways thanks for the info. I'll subscribe to that thread and I'll see if I can learn new things to contribute.
Thanks again,

This is the thread for going back to stock, but I don't know if it works without a Pc. Maybe mobile odin is a possibility. Search for it, if it hasn't been asked jet then go ahead and ask.
Verstuurd van mijn GT-I9100
Omg no idea how to handle that topic so another question am i gonna be able to update my phone to 4.2.2 when its gonna be released with custom rom via settings-> check for updates? If not guess im gonna go to some service saloon to recover old stock :/
Mobile Odin.

At least expain me how to use it what files and what files do i need..... i dont wanna mess my phone cause idk how to use it some sort of guide mayby?
Want me to explain?
Ok, it'll flash any stock ROM you want by itself, no pc needed, only root.
More info? Search for it, watch a vid or something.
Sent from the little guy
If that would be so easy for me i wouldnt bother myself with creating a thread here . I dont know what is flash and as far as i know i need some files to do that and i have to put them in some directory internal/external sd. I cant go to yotube cause my data plan doesnt count yt as free website so its charging me for streaming .So if someone care to help i would apreciate (browsing tons of threads with phone is painfull) so if you can help post me a guide if not dont bother to use reply button .
That's all good & well, but this is how everyone here learns stuff. If you're not prepared to learn, leave your phone stock lest you break it (I can almost guarantee if someone regurgitates 10 steps for you & you don't understand the why & how, you will have an expensive 'accident').
Or you could take the time to read the guides & stickies and learn.
You also need to lose the sense of entitlement. Nobody here owes you anything/XDA isn't like your carrier you paid money to for a certain level of 'service' (You're on ignore now, so I won't be reading any response to this).
Edit - Messing with your phone without access to a PC & not being prepared to learn a few things probably doubles your chance of turning your phone into a 116 gram plastic paperweight.

Can I install new version of android on my phone (nougat)

Hello guys I'm new member here and this is my first post if I break any rule or something please close/delete this thread.
I'm not in phone devlopement and I don't know so much about that but I just saw that new version of android is released and I wanted to check if I can get it.
My phone is A5 model: SM- A500FU.
I use my phone for bussines calls and daily use like social media and that kind of thing so I don't want to get crashed or something coz I can lose some really important calls or messages.
So is there any Pack that I can install on my phone and get that version.
Thanks.

Firstly, make a habit of using the search feature.
Secondly, yes you can get Nougat on your phone. This is what I found --> https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...m-resurrection-remix-5-8-x-n-samsung-t3539954
But, you seem new to all of this. Its not as simple as installing an APK. You need to know the basics of ROM Flashing. And you need to see if the ROM you choose to install has any bugs cuz it seems the mentioned phone is your main device. There are risks, but if you do it right there's the reward of having Nougat on your phone. Look up on Google, there's a lot of guides that would explain it all to you.
Goodluck and Happy flashing. Hit the thanks button below if this helped in any way.
