Helio X10 Kernel Source Released! - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys, i found this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lee...mediatek-6795helio-x10-kernsl-source-t3413762
is it maybe helpful for developers to port android M to our device?

not sure if this one will be worked too , but we will never know untill we tried

We need sources for our device. Look at the date: February 2016, and still no Marshmallow. There is no sources for redmi note 2 yet

I will never be marshmallow release.

Sony have released source for Xperia m5 which has the same SoC as our device.
I think it is for Android 5.1 - haven't looked too closely.
It may have some useful bits?

Flyme 6.0 Beta ROM based on Android 7.0 Nougat launching in early October

Flyme 6.0 Beta ROM based on Android 7.0 Nougat launching in early October written by Onkar Soundankar September 16, 2016
Meizu smartphones are no doubt successful in the Chinese and Indian markets thanks to their decent designs and price points. The company has been making smartphones that considerably resemble Apple’s iPhone. Meizu Flyme OS, which powers the company’s smartphones, is rather intuitive thanks to the gestures and tweaks on offer. Recent rumors indicated that version 6.0 of Flyme OS would be released on September 13; that didn’t happen, and Weibo leakster @kjuma has now revealed that Flyme OS 6.0 – based on Android 7.0 Nougat – could arrive in early October. The first firmware, which will be a beta update, will be released in China.
The stable update will apparently be made available in November. The latest version of Android, which was unveiled by Google a couple of weeks ago, is likely making Meizu work on the update faster than before. We saw Xiaomi release the MIUI 8 update, based on Android Marshmallow, for its devices a few days back, and the company has already started development of MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. Meizu is currently preparing to launch the Meizu Pro 7, which will run Flyme OS 6.0 and will be released sometime next year.

** This means we will get cm14 in the future **
I'm sceptic... But I hope so...
Let's hope it will be available for Pro 5 :/
Why the long faces, lets do the math here:
1. Android is based on Linux which falls under the GPLv2 license, thus Meizu has to release the kernel source.
2. Android is open source under the Apache license thus Cyanogenmod inherits this.
So we can compile Android for Meizu Pro5. Will it be easy ? Probably not. Is it do-able, hell yeah.
EDIT: Faust93 started working on Android 7.0 Nougat link

Kernel Source Code Question

Hi! I have the BLU Energy X 2, and I am looking into building CyanogenMod from source. I have asked BLU for the source code to the kernel, but they didn't have it yet. Is this because there is some sort of grace period (maybe 1 year?) before they can release it? The phone was released in February 2016. Also, would I be able to use the Energy X kernel for my Energy X 2 CyanogenMod build? They have the same chipset, same kernel version, practically everything except the camera.
Thanks!

Note 4 [N910C Exynos] Nougat Update 7.0 Rom Development News !!!

For Note 4 N910C Users.
So if you don't know 7.0 nougat rom development by developer erickwill for our device was stopped at stage where it has SIM Card Bug. it doens't read sim card , because there was not released Exynos Chip Codes and without that codes porting roms is really hard.
old rom thread link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-1-t3506613
But Several days ago Tab S2 Device which has the same Exynos chip that N910C, has recieved an 7.0 nougat update officially by samsung. link to the rom: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T810
and source codes for Exynos chip was released. this is link to this codes :http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=t810
Now when codes are released porting is now possible. we need to wait for new developers who will be interested to port this rom for N910C users.
so if you know some developers or teams you can tag them on this thread to spread the voice that we also want nougat update and we are waiting for it very long time.
thank you

[Question] LineageOS for Redmi 5 Plus (vince)

Will there be a LineageOS for the Redmi 5 Plus soon? (Codename: Vince)
It got a snapdragon 625 so it shouldnt be that hard, isnt it? Or is something important missing so there will no custom roms soon?
If someone CAN build LineageOS for this device, but hasn't got enough resources for this, please contact me via PM. I'll able to set up a Server
(Just for Lineageos )
Good question - should be fairly straightforward in theory, but changes in displays, touch panels, cameras and fingerprint sensors will always present a unique set of challenges for an experienced dev considering there is no kernel source code yet. Redmi Note 4 development efforts will definitely help no doubt as certain blobs should be ported over without issue, but a bit of classic reverse engineering and testing will be needed to begin with. Building 7.1.2 shouldn't be too hard, but 8.0 will be a little trickier until codebases stabilise. Really hoping that MIUI 10 introduces treble support!
Will definitely be keen to test ROMs as they become available for the Redmi 5 plus though, seems like a decent successor to the Redmi Note 4 even if the lack of an SOC upgrade makes it a little boring as an upgrade - but they won't be selling the Redmi Note 4 forever.

Yea sure, no kernel source is a problem, and as it seems Xiaomi wont release any kernel sources soon anymore .. take a look at the Mi A1.
For my knowledge, treble will be ONLY available if the devices COMES with Android 8(.1)

did it come at least with 8.0?
Do we have information if the Lineage team is working on an official version? This seems like it will be a quite high volume phone.

I am planning to buy the redmi 5 plus ( aka Redmi note 5 in India), but i can't withstand miui. I hope there are developments regarding the custom roms for this device very soon. Currently on redmi 4x (Crdroid custom rom).

[Q] Will Xiaomi ever going to release Redmi 5 Plus Oreo Kernel Source soon?

Hello dear devs, i believe you have more experience than me about this stuff. Since i heard kernel source code i mean updated one requires for Pie based ROM's, do you think Xiaomi will ever release updated kernel sources soon? Please let us know since a lot of people wants to taste Pie ROMs..
We don't need oreo source for pie roms actually, but it would be a newer source, maybe better drivers n'stuff? it could be different for other devs, but for me it's just an update
